Atomic Homogeneous Deployment

Hi,
          ftp://edownload:[email protected]/pub/downloads/jmxmonitor.zip is a JMX
          tool that allows Atomic Homogeneous Deployment in WLS v6.1. Is Atomic
          Homogeneous Deployment also possible from the web console in v7.0?
          Regards,
          Pieter Van Gorp.

WLS 7.0 automatically ensures homogeneous deployment across all
          cluster nodes, otherwise the deployment won't be successful.

  • How to deploy Windows 8.1 to many tablets ?

    We need to create a customized OS image (SOE) for Windows 8.1 and deploy to a number of tablet devices in our company.
    We can create the customized image but am are not clear about how to deploy to a tablet. We have SCCM 2012.
    Whats the best way to deploy an OS image to a Windows tablet ? I would prefer detailed steps on this procedure.

    Detailed procedures are not possible without a detailed inventory of your environment.
    PXE is my choice for new OS deployments, but not all tablets have PXE. Specifically what tablets do you have?
    Some Tablets are also not able to run x64 OS. Do you have any Atom processor machines?
    Installation works best when running from Ethernet, rather than Wi-Fi? What is your wired Network status?
    Do your machines need to be domain joined? do you have procedures for imaging machines dis-connected from your corpnet?

    Hi Prakash,
    The "Run standalone web module from workspace" doesn't publish the application to the server (instead the app is deployed to a temp location).
    This is mainly to help test the app during the development stages. If your app is complete and would like to publish to the server then you might want to try the following option
    - In Server View, double click on the configuration to launch Overview
    - Select "Copy stand-alone web module into separate deployment folder"
    - Save the configuration
    - Start the server
    The application would be deployed to the server as a WAR file.

  • How do I get past ES4 Install Failure during Component Deployment in Configuration Manager?

    I have done several installs of LiveCycle, but can't seem to get passed this error.  I am installing a fresh copy of ES4 on a Windows 2008 R2 server using the JBOSS partial turnkey install.  I have it configured to connect to a  SQL Server database instead of the turnkey MySql database.  LiveCycle installs and then Configuration Management starts successfully.  I am able to get past the database initialization.  The following step is the Component deployment.  All the JAR files deploy correctly, but then it hangs when trying to deploy the LCA files.  I have had a similar problem before and increasing the Transaction Timeout in the application server configuration solved it.  I increased the Transaction Timeout without any success.  Doing this a couple of the LCAs deployed while the others did not.

    With ECC, BI, CRM, etc its all solid and proven processes for doing this.  However with the products from everyone else's bag of tricks without SAP standards, we are wondering how do we integrate it into the development streams for Unit Test, Integration Test, System Test to deploy.
    If anyone knows of a method for performing a homogeneous system copy from one box to another for the following, I would truely like to see it.
    1. PCM (Windows - App) - PCM (Windows - Web) - PCM (Windows - DB / SQLServer )
    2. Vendavo (Windows - APP ) -- Vendavo (LINUX - DB / Oracle)
    3. BOBJ XI Dataserver (LINUX - DB / Oracle)
    I have seem some info on the BOBJ XI side of using a biar file but I don't know if that also applies to the Dataserver piece.  At this point the message is that we build new and everyone rekeys data which flys like a lead ballon.
    If anyone has places to look, please let me know.
    Thanks
    Rick

    Hi,
    by default, BOE doesnt have such a option to copy your System like BW has.
    You could proceed as follows:
    1. setup your new BOE Server
    2. Copy thr FRS from the old to the new BOE Server
    3. Copy the CMS DB using cmsdbsetup.sh (UNIX) or the CCM from the old DB to the new DB
    4. Run the "Update Objects" option
    5. Login to the CMC of the new BOE to delete the old Server entries under "Server"

  • Full Deployment failing with Transaction timeout

    Hi
    I am trying to do a full deployment(ATG 10.0.2) and its failing with the same transaction timeout on all environments (local, dev, stage)
    I have tried to reduce the maxThreads to 1 in DeploymentManager but still i get the same exception.
    Incremental deployments seems to be running fine if i deploy anything, like category, products, skus.
    Even the catalog feed runs and deploys fine.
    I have a total of around 1500 products and 7000 skus.
    In BCC screen i see it gives timeout while deploying skus

    I am using ATG10.0.2 with jboss-5.1-eap
    I have tried increasing the timeout on jboss, but it only stops the timeout from happening, but the full deployment takes forever and takes more than 12 hours.
    The catalog itself is too small and shouldnt be taking that much at all.
    I just checked one thing:
    I have a one to many relation with my sku and sale price(custom table) which has 11000 rows. If i delete the data in this table the deployment happens fine and takes about 30 mins.
    The relationship it self seems correct.
    this is on sku descriptor
    <table name="my_sku_saleprice" type="multi" id-column-name="sku_id">
    <property name="salePrices" column-name="sale_prices" data-type="set" component-item-type="salePrices" display-name-resource="salePrices"
    writable="true" category-resource="categoryPresentation">
    <attribute name="resourceBundle" value="atg.projects.store.StoreCatalogTemplateResources"/>
    </property>
    </table>
    And this is the salePrices descriptor
    <item-descriptor name="salePrices" display-name-resource="itemDescriptorSalePrices"
    item-cache-size="100000" query-cache-size="100000">
    <attribute name="resourceBundle" value="atg.projects.store.StoreCatalogTemplateResources"/>
    <table name="my_sku_saleprices" type="primary" id-column-name="sale_prices">
    <property name="salesPrice" data-type="double" column-name="sales_price" required="true" display-name-resource="salesPrice"/>
    <property name="saleType" data-type="string" column-name="sale_type" required="true" display-name-resource="saleType"/>
    <property name="startDate" data-type="Date" column-name="start_date" display-name-resource="startDate"/>
    <property name="endDate" data-type="Date" column-name="end_date" display-name-resource="endDate"/>
    </table>
    </item-descriptor>
    The only thing i m not able to understand is why its taking forever to get the full deployment.
    Incremental deployment in catalog happens quickly, if i deploy any sku,product or anything.
    Is it something to do with ATG or jboss?
    Any pointers will help
    Thanks

  • Deployment and Redeployment

    Hi, everyone.
              How are you deploying your apps? Are you using the weblogic.deploy tool (do
              you use -component with your cluster as a target?)? The console? Or do you
              just copy your archive to the applications directory? There really doesn't
              seem to be much in the WebLogic docs about clustered deployment; just an
              emphasis on homogeneity.
              Should redeployment across a cluster even work?
              I've been redeploying an application to my cluster by copying it to the
              applications directory for my domain (it's a .ear) on the box where my admin
              server is running. The first time I deployed it, I targeted it to my
              cluster.
              This pretty much works, but doesn't work great. Every time I redeploy (copy
              a new version of the file to the directory), I get errors on the cluster
              servers, which means they must be restarted for the redeployment to work.
              Thanks for any experiences.
              --Kevin

    I'm guessing the only approved way to do this is to use the console. It
              doesn't seem that the weblogic.deploy tool likes cluster names as targets.
              I tried deploying with the deploy tool, targeting things with the console,
              and then updating with the deploy tool. However, on update, the deploy tool
              doesn't return for a while, then displays the error:
              Giving up after waiting more than 2 minutes
              Or, sometimes, the exception:
              javax.management.RuntimeErrorException: Error thrown by the setAttribute
              weblogi
              c.management.internal.WebLogicAttribute@516dedmethod of the Dynamic MBean
              <<no stack trace available>>
              java.lang.NullPointerException
              at weblogic.deploy.deployApplication(deploy.java:420)
              at weblogic.deploy.deploy(deploy.java:367)
              at weblogic.deploy.runBody(deploy.java:222)
              at weblogic.utils.compiler.Tool.run(Tool.java:81)
              at weblogic.deploy.main(deploy.java:1036)
              Overall, I'd say redeployment to a cluster needs some clarification. I
              don't think it works under any circumstance while the cluster is up.

  • Is flag=true atomic?

    Hi,
    excuse me for the simplicity of my question, but I am a beginner..
    If I have two thread that read and write a boolean, have I to do that in synchronized blocks? Is the instruction "flag=true" atomic?
    Thanks in advance!

    However, since each Thread
    operates with its own copy of the main memory, the
    change might not be visible to the other Thread...Correct in spirit but not in detail... The Threads do not maintain their own copy of main memory.
    Instead, the problem is that processors (or cores within processors or even thread hardware -as in Intel HT - within cores) may (and often do) cache information that can become out of sync with main memory meaning that a given thread may not flush or re-read changes to what it perceives as main memory until it is forced to do so or happens to do so. Synchronization is one way to ensure this, use of volatile semantics (which only work properly in Java 5.0 and later) is another way.
    The bad news is that poor behavior may not be punished on some systems (single CPU, single core) and so the developer may think all is OK until the solution gets deployed to a system that has the necessary traits to trigger the problem. And then, boy can it be hard to track down the cause!!!

  • JavaFX on Atom/Nano CPUs

    Hi,
    As far as I can see, the only requirements for JavaFX is to have a JRE on Linux, Win or Mac. But I cannot find any information regarding the minimum hardware required for deployment.
    Anyone tried JavaFX on an Intel Atom or a VIA Nano C7 hardware, with Linux and JRE6 ? (Not using the mobile edition, but the desktop one)
    Thanks

  • Memory barriers in atomic operations

    According to the Apple documentation there exist pairs of function to perform atomic operations such as OSAtomicIncrement32()/OSAtmoicIncrement32Barrier().
    http://developer.apple.com/documentation/Darwin/Reference/ManPages/man3/OSAtomic Increment32Barrier.3.html
    "Barriers strictly order memory access on a weakly-ordered architecture such as PPC. All loads and stores executed in sequential program order before the barrier will complete before any load or store executed after the barrier."
    However, it is not clear whether the memory barrier must be used:
    - AFAIK PPC is not the only case where instruction could be executed out of order, Intel processors also execute instruction out of order.
    - In which cases must be used the memory barrier version or problems could arise?
    "If you are unsure which version to use, prefer the barrier variants as they are safer."
    Is this sentence a joke? It is neither precise nor formal.

    I think that this paragraph is quite imprecise. Particularly:
    "Most code will want to use the barrier functions to insure that memory shared between threads is properly synchronized".
    "Most code" must be divided into the specific cases where memory barriers are necessary or not.
    "For example, if you want to initialize a shared data structure and then atomically increment a variable to indicate that the initialization is complete, then you must use OSAtomicIncrement32Barrier() OSAtomicIncrement32Barrier() to ensure that the stores to your data structure complete before the atomic add. Likewise, the consumer of that data structure must use OSAtomicDecrement32Barrier(), in order to ensure that their loads of the structure are not executed before the atomic decrement"
    Atomic operation only deals with fundamental variables (for data structures there exist other synchronization techniques). If you want to do two operations atomically (initialize and increment) it implies two atomic operations, so you should not use atomic operations in this case. Instead you should wrap both operations in a critical section, for instance, by means of an NSLock.
    "On the other hand, if you are simply incrementing a global counter, then it is safe and potentially much faster to use OSAtomicIncrement32()".
    That is an atomic operation over an atomic variable, but that is true only when one core exists. Synchronization between the pipelines of several cores is not correctly managed in the Intel processors (assembler atomic operations are only guarantee within an specific core). If you don't know the deployment machine, you must use the memory barrier version (just in case). However, if there is only one thread that modifies the atomic variable, the atomic operation without memory barrier is faster and guarantee that the other (reader) threads always will find the variable in a valid state (either completely modified or not modified at all).
    "If you are unsure which version to use, prefer the barrier variants as they are safer."
    Yes, that is the easy answer IF YOU ARE UNSURE what you are doing or what atomic operation are intended for. However, it is a good idea to say to your clients in which cases memory barriers in reference to atomic operations are needed or not.

    Hi,
    I am getting the below error while deploying a workflow in Control Center.
    ORA-29532: Java call terminated by uncaught Java exception: java.sql.SQLException: The file /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0.2/dbhome_1/owb/bin/admin/rtrepos.properties cannot be accessed or has not been properly created on the server XXXXXX. If the file does not exist or if the database owner (normally user 'oracle') does not have the required file permissions or if the file has not been properly created then the file can be recreated by running the SQL*Plus script /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0.2/dbhome_1/owb/rtp/sql/reset_repository.sql (in a RAC environment the file must be manually copied to each server which is used for OWB). Otherwise if using a 10.2 database instance, then please run the SQL*Plus script /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0.2/dbhome_1/owb/UnifiedRepos/reset_owbcc_home.sql.
    Did any one faced this issue before?
    Kindly let me know the steps to resolve the issue.
    Thanks.

    Hi Vidyanand,
    Did you create the runtime access user using the runtime assistant? Did you select the correct runtime repository (if you have more) to associate your runtime access user with?
    Note that there are 4 database roles being created when you create a runtime repository owner:
    - OWB_A_<runtime repository owner>
    - OWB_D_<runtime repository owner>
    - OWB_R_<runtime repository owner>
    - OWB_U_<runtime repository owner>
    If you would grant those roles to a user, then that user becomes an access user for the user with username <runtime repository owner>.
    Note that you can also use the runtime repository credentials to connect to the runtime repository for deployment purposes, but you may not want that because of security concerns.
    Thanks,
    Mark.

    Aborted: development component '<ComponentName>'/'local'/'LOKAL'/'0.2006.07.26.15.06.05':Caught exception while checking the login credentials for SAP J2EE Engine. Check whether the SAP J2EE Engine is up and running.com.sap.engine.deploy.manager.DeployManagerException: ERROR: Cannot connect to Host: [sapsbx28] with user name: [J2EE_ADMIN] Check your login information. Exception is: com.sap.engine.services.jndi.persistent.exceptions.NamingException: Exception while trying to get InitialContext. [Root exception is com.sap.engine.services.security.exceptions.BaseLoginException: Cannot authenticate the user.] (message ID: com.sap.sdm.serverext.servertype.inqmy.extern.EngineApplOnlineDeployerImpl.checkLoginCredentials.DMEXC)
    When i give a request for deployment it asks for the SDM password. I enter a valid SDM pwd. If i enter  a invalid SDM pwd i get  some other exception. So the pwd SDM entered by me is correct.
    can any one help me in solving this
    regards
    Nilesh Taunk

    Hi Nilesh,
           Try opening Visual Admin if your not able to login with username(administrator) and password. Problem with NWD2004s do the following steps.
    C:\usr\sap\J2E\JC01\j2ee\configtool->configtool.bat->open it
    1. Click on Secure store
    2. Right you will find :
    admin/password/J2E->retype your admin passowrd which you gave during installation=>SAVE properly
    Restart the server and try login visual admin
           Deploy now...Other wise see this thread same error solved:

  • Step-by-Step Help Needed for Deploying Some Adobe Software

    We are a K-12 educational institution.  I am currently working at setting up a computer lab with about 16 MacMini computers.
    I'm VERY new to the realm of servers, deployment, using terminal, etc.
    I've done lots of research to make it to where I am, but just can't wrap my head around what needs done next with the Adobe products.
    I am using Server OSX (v3) and DeployStudio (v 1.6.3) to try and manage the computers.
    Both my server and clients are running Mavericks 10.9.
    I deployed my core images successfully and would like to now send Adobe products only the computers I choose since I have limited licenses.
    We have volume licenses of Adobe InDesign CS6 and Photoshop Elements 12 that we would like to deploy.
    I have been referencing the following sites, but just can't seem to wrap my head around the EXACT steps that need to be taken.
    http://blogs.adobe.com/oobe/2010/10/adobe-provisioning-toolkit-enterprise-edition.html
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/packager/provisioning-toolkit-enterprise.html
    http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/silent-install-instructions-photoshop-element s2.html
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/5781663
    For Adobe InDesign CS6 - I've done the following:
    Created an "Installation Package" using Adobe Application Manager Enterprise Edition (AAMEE v6.2.112.0) using the following instructions.
    http://wwwimages.adobe.com/www.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/devnet/creativesuite/pdfs/Ad obeApplicationManagerEnterpriseEditionDeploymentGuide_v_3_1.pdf
    If I log into the client computer, put the package ON the client computer, and run it...it takes me through the install and works wonderfully.It's not automated like I wanted/thought I set it up to do. I have to click through the steps of the installer.
    If I try to deploy it using the "Package install" Workflow in DeployStudio...it loads it during the workflow, then skips through it, acts like it installed it, but it isn't actually installed.Is there a setting that I need to possibly change somewhere?
    For Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 - I'm a bit lost and mostly just have questions:
    I know that I can't use AAMEE and need to use APTEE (Adobe Provisioning Toolkit Enterprise Edition).
    How do I deploy the software? Create my own Package using PackageMaker?
    Which computer do I run APTEE on? All the instructions I can find just say, "do this" - but don't specify where.
    Do I have to open terminal and run the commands on each client computer AFTER installing PE12?
    OR
    Do I run the commands BEFORE deployment on my package stored on my server that is ready for deployment?
    It really comes down to me just not 100% understanding how APTEE works.
    I hope that pertrays my dilemma. I've tried to explain best I can.  If you have any questions - let me know!
    Thanks in advance for any insight you can give!

  • Deploying only Acrobat XI Pro CC package w/ Enterprise Serial # - Still getting "Sign In Required"

    Downloaded Creative Cloud Packager to create a serialized package of only Acrobat XI Pro.  I further customize the deployment via Adobe Customization Wizard XI, but did not re-enter the serial number (as suggested).  I am able to deploy from the Exceptions folder with the following cmd, msiexec /i "%inst%AcroPro.msi" PATCH="%inst%Updates\AcrobatUpd11006.msp" TRANSFORMS="%inst%Transforms\en_US.mst" /qn.  Upon launching Acrobat, I receive the a pop-up message, "Sign In Required.  Siging in with an Adobe ID and registering Creative Cloud Membership Enterprise is required within 32767 days otherwise it will stop working."  I don't understand why the serial number and Adobe ID I enterred when packaging did not carry over.  Any insight would be appreciated.
