Attach existing PDF to DMS

Hello,
i would like to ask question about DMS.
My goal is to attach PDF files to every material (packaging specification).
I already have a directory which i can see using AL11.
I already managed to create DMS (using BAPI_DOCUMENT_CREATE2) but now i need to atach those files. I dont need to copy/transfer anything. Just tell each DMS to use/attach this PDF.
I already tried CVAPI_DOC_CHECKIN where i read that file using read dataset into drao-orblk. That sucesfully attached the file - but the file in cv02n was really small (~3kb) and adobe readed says it is corrupted.
Original PDF has 50-80MB - so i would rather not to save them into database.

I figured it out.
FM CVAPI_DOC_CHECKIN is not for attaching documents from content server. It is for uploading documents from PC.

In oracle form, there is oracle command to print the report from command prompt with the help of rwrun.exe

and to save the report we just need to change DESNAME="c:\temp\OC_100001349.pdf" DESTYPE="FILE" in above command instead of DESNAME="testprinter" DESTYPE="PRINTER".
DESNAME and DESTYPE are the input parameters of the respective report.
In SSRS, we can run the file from the command prompt and save it.

But we cannot use same command for printing as you said we need to create another script for printing files.
I have gone through the links but I dont want to use Adobe Acrobat Reader exe for printing because client it may not have Adobe Acrobat Reader on their machine.
Also I want to pass a input parameter as type="Printer" to my report which will print directly for me and same I can acheive in command prompt passing type="Printer" fileName="C:\Users\pujarswa\Desktop\TipsReportLoad.pdf"

Indicator on object that an attachment exist

Hi SAP Gurus,
My clients sometimes attach Doc/PDF/Xls files (scanned invoices) to documents posted in SAP using service to the object option. Its not full fledged DMS, but in one-off instances they attach files.
My question is - Is there any way (or indicator/flag) to tell that there's a file attached to a particular document (say when one goes to view a document in FB03).
Current process of clicking service to the object icon and looking for attachment list to find out whether there's any attachement to the posted doc or not is very time consuimg/painful.
Is there some easy way to put an indicator so that if a person goes to document display in FB03, he can see a flag if an attachment exists.

to get number of attachments. If you include this in some customer extensions to FB03 you can do anything with this information (e.g. display an Information message, or display an icon if transaction supports custom dynpros).

How do I Edit an Existing PDF Form Without Losing Form Functionality

I'm brand new to Acrobat but familiar and proficient with Flash, PhotoShop Premiere Pro, After Effects, Dreamweaver, Fireworks etc.
The company I work for sells office supplies. We sell 57 distinct items. We have Acrobat 9. I am designing a PDF order form with fields that can be emailed to our clients as an attachment. They fill out the form, it calculates the total, they send it back to us, we fill and ship the order. Basic and straightforward.
I can add form fields to my order/pricelist... not a problem. The question is:
Once I have brought a PDF into Acrobat and add 57+ fields and calculations, which is a time consuming process, how do I edit an item price at a later date, if someone in the company decides to make a change to our pricing?
See..., If I save the original Microsoft Excel document as a PDF, Acrobat can't edit the text for some reason. Something to do with "Renderable Text". Now if I open the PDF saved from Microsoft Excel in Adobe Illustrator, I can use the text tool to make changes. That doesn't help me... just saying. Why can't I edit "Renderable Text" with the Acrobat Text Tool? Someone in a forum stated that Acrobat is NOT a word processing program! If that is an accurate statement, it would appear that Acrobat can at least work with base PDF documents to make certain types of modifications and add functionality. Is that correct?
Here's the problem. I create a PDF with form functionality. Everything works great. The boss says, I want to change the price of the scissors. I can't change the text in Acrobat because of the "Renderable Text" nonsense. Does this mean that I have to re-apply all of the form fields and calculations to the new base PDF document every time there is a minor change? I know there has to be a simple work around. Should I upgrade to a newer version of Acrobat?
Is it possible to save the original existing form functionality as a layer or overlay to be applied to the new modified base PDF document? Kind of like so many other Adobe products do including PhotoShop, Fireworks, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Flash etc., so that all of the form functionality can be applied in one big chunk? Premiere Pro has the time-saving feature of "Paste Attributes". It's a real time saver.
It may be simpler to just direct me to a video that goes through the process of creating a PDF order form with fillable fields that multiplys quantity by unit price and totals one column.
I already created a prototype of the form in PhotoShop which can be saved as a PDF. The finished order document appearance has 95 horizontal 3px wide lines and 6 vertical 3px lines, kind of like what one might expect to see in an Excel spread sheet. The form also contains some graphics and unconventional text areas that acrobat could overlay text fields and everything would be fine.
With these great number of horizontal dividing lines, It doesn't seem practical or even possible to create the basic layout in Acrobat. As I originally stated, I'm new to Acrobat and would like suggestions for a workflow that enables easy editing of an existing PDF document with form fields. I want to avoid the monumental task of re-doing all of the fields and calculations.

For what you are trying to do that is probably what you want -- Replace Pages. There are a few more issues that you need to be aware of since this is a business form. If customers are using Reader XI, it is not an issue.
On the renderable text, can you see the text list when you look at the font tab in the document properties (ctrl-D)? If not, they you do not really have fonts to edit. This may be the type of fonts you used in the original or the way in which you did the conversion to PDF. You need to have fonts that are on your system and then be sure to embed them (otherwise others may not be able to read them because of different OS or such).
As to e-mailing the form, that is fine (though there are sometimes problems with various clients and PDFs -- but usually on the sending end).
For collecting the data you may want to try a different route. For users of Reader XI, they can save the form with the data. Prior versions could not do that unless you enabled the form for Reader. However, this latter process has a 500 form use limit -- A license issue. If the data is submitted, then it does not make a difference. The folks with Reader XI can still save the form with the data, others will have to print a copy for their records.
The data can be imported to the form on your end and so you would have the exact same results as what was filled out. However, the submission process should be set up to submit to a web script for your receipt and not use mailto. The latter has problems that you have no control over due to proper operation with the mail client on the user machine. Typically the mail client must be the default and use MAPI. In any case, it is not reliable (not for business use). So submission to a web script is useful. The data in AcroForms would be of the type FDF (or possibly XFDF). If for some reason use created the form with Designer, that limit any editing in Acrobat since it is no longer a real PDF, but an XML container that Acrobat and Reader can display and interact with, but not change. Again, submission to a web script is still preferred.
For dealing with a web script and some coding for various languages, you can check out the FDF Toolkit. It has been around a while, but should still handle the CGI needs of the submission. In addition, it has tools for adding the data to a database and other typical operations for data collection. You can save the FDF files and import them to the form and deal with the data there also.
The use of Replace pages would do the job if all your form fields will still need to be in about the same location. Form fields are mark up and the pages are referred to as the document. Thus the replace pages will just original page and leave all the form fields. You will still need to go back and fix the value within the fields themselves, but that is a field edit.

If you have the PDF stored on the iPhone as a separate file you obviously also have a third party app for reading it, so you should be able to e-mail it from there.

How to attach a PDF from Ibooks to a current email - help !

I am using an Ipad mini and can't figure something out.
I have a long email and would like to attach a PDF file to my latest response. The PDF is currently in my IBooks.
I know I can send the PDF in a new/clean email, but the point is that I would like to be able to attach it to the current email. I can insert a photo or a video but there doesnt seem to be a way to insert a PDF file.
I tried to open the PDF up in a new mail, cut it, then paste it into the existing email, but even that doesn't seem to work - I checked my sent box and there was no attachment on the mail when I tried it that way. The only way around the problem I can think of is to create the new email with the attachment, save it as a draft, go back into the original mail, copy it, go back into drafts and paste the existing text around my attachment - but this is a ridiculous and time-consuming process and not really practical.
Can anyone kindly advise? I think there will be an easy solution, but I just dont see it yet -

There is no way to do what you are trying to do. You have to send the email and the pdf from iBooks.
Open the PDF in iBooks then tap the arrow icon in the upper left corner and select Email. Copy and paste the entire lengthy email into this new email in iBooks and send it that way, its clunky, but it is really the only way to accomplish what you want to accomplish using an iPad and the mail app. You can cancel the email in the iBooks app and it will allow you to save the draft and you can go back to using the mail app to send it, or just send the email from iBooks.
The mail app will only allow you to insert photos and videos as attachments.

Unable to enable "Fast Web View" in an existing PDF/A file.

I have a pre-existing PDF/A file that I'd like to optimize for web publishing (i.e. enable "Fast Web View"). I have done this kind of conversion in the past using Adobe Acrobat Professional 9.0 and X but whenever I attempt to do so for this particular file via Tools and/or by making the changes in Preferences and executing a "Save As" the Fast Web View is still set to "No". We have attempted to make this change using Ghostscript but that too has proven unsuccessful. The file is 2.6 GB and I have attached a screenshot of the properties of said PDF/A for reference. Has anyone encountered this before and found a way to modify the file? Thanks.

Tricky one. It might not be possible, since modifying to PDF/A might turn off optimization, while optimizing might turn off PDF/A... I think people have largely lost interest in fast web view since broadband is mostly so, well, broad.

Sending PO in mail attachment with pdf format

We are sending PO to vendor in a pdf attachment. The configuration is in place and as soon as the PO(ME22N) is saved the pdf mail is sent to vendor external mail address.
The requirement however is to add some text to this mail body ( in addition to the existing PDF attachment ).
The NACE config is using SAPFM06P program with entry_neu form and a custom sap script.
can somebody help as where is this mail functionality added in this standard program so that I may try to customize the same for the above requirement.
All I can see is 2 FM used in this ENTRY_NEU Form. Of which I guess ME_PRINT_PO is sending the mail ( I may be wrong here ) but where ?

In general you will have to do the following:
1) Set NAST-NACHA = 8 (Special function)
2) Before OPEN_FORM (maybe in In enhancement spot) if NAST-NACHA = 8, then set itcpo-tdgetotf = 'X' (to get OTF back from CLOSE_FORM!)
3) During CLOSE_FORM, if NAST-NACHA = '8', get OTF output from TABLES parameter OTFDATA
4) Convert this OTF output to PDF using following sample code:

I suggest you make yourself very familiar with the SAP code that does this automatically. Once you understand the processing sequence SAP uses, it is much easier to add your customization and insert your enhancements. To debug it and step through the code, but a breakpoint in ENTRY_NEU, and process a PO. If you're sending your messages using a scheduled job, you'll hit the breakpoint when you process the message using RSNAST00. That's how I did it. I can tell you what I did to meet my requirements. You can change to meet your needs. It required a custom program, to use instead if ENTRY_NEU, and 3 enhancements to SAP code using the Enhancement Framework. You need to know how to use the framework. 1. configure your output type ZNE2 to to run a new program ZMRP_OUTCTRL, to run form routine ENTRY_ZNE2, to create form Z_PURCHASE_ORDER. 2. In ZMRP_OUTCTRL, call standard function modules, ME_READ_PO_FOR_PRINT and ME_PRINT_PO. 3. Drill down into ME_PRINT_PO to PREPARE_FORMULAR function module. Create new enhancement, and if NAST-KSCHL = ZNE2, then lookup the recipient's email address. Pass it as parameter to ADDR_GET_NEXT_COMM_TYPE. 4. Still in ME_PRINT_PO, PREPARE_FORMULAR, add another enhancement to set the value of itcpo-getotf to u2018Xu2019, to enable CLOSE_FORM to capture OTF data for PDF. Only set this OTF flag when the output is being run by RSNAST00, not when a user is simply previewing the printout. Sy-ucomm will be blank when RSNAST00 is running. 5. In ME_PRINT_PO, drill down to ENDE, and add an enhancement to check for NAST-KSCHL = ZNE2, and if so, call standard SAP function modules to END_FORM, START_FORM, WRITE_FORM, and END_FORM. Next call the function CLOSE_FORM, and set table parameter to capture the OTF_DATA as a table parameter OTF_DATA. 6. SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_API1:How to correctly attach a PDF file

I have an ABAP report that will send an email and attach the PDF file.
- convery spool to PDF : CONVERT_ABAPSPOOLJOB_2_PDF
- to send email : SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_API1
How I execute SM36:
1. SM36
2. Job Name
3. Spool List Recipient : select my own address as internal user (I didn't tick any of the check box for the general attributes)
When I go to TCODE SO01(SAP Inbox)
The attachment I see is just a link to the output of my classic ABAP view report, it's not a PDF File.
But I in SO01, I create a mail and attach PDF file, receive it my SAP inbox and can also open the attached PDF directly by just double clicking it.

When adding a PDF file to a New Message in Mail it does not show up as an icon link, the entire document appears. How can you attach a PDF without the entire document displaying itself?

After scanning a document, I save the file in a PDF format. When attaching the PDF file to a New message it appears on the entire page instead of a PDF icon link that the recipient can click on to open. Why can't I get the PDF file to appear in a icon format? Thank you.

Nice alternative, but it still doesn't work on a Windows machine when the
mail software from Microsoft doesn't react on PDF actions.
You can do many things in Acrobat, but it is a problem when it doesn't work
on Windows and iPad.
So now I am looking for alternatives like interactive magazine software
(based on html5).
