Attach labels for write to measurement file and graphing

I am currently having alot of problems with attaching labels to double type of wires and changing the label attached to the dynamic type of wires. I want the write to measurement file to have the correct headings but the current headings for the columns are displaying untitled or change the heading for the dynamic type of wire. I attached a picture of the program and I would be very grateful if anybody knew how to change these headings.

Try this VI I made. It takes in a Double signal and a string, names your signal, and outputs it as a Dynamic Data.
I used this with the Write to Measurement File without any issues!!!
To name a Dynamic Data Signal, use the Set Dynamic Data Attributes VI found in Express > Signal Manipulation
Hope this helps,
Cheers

  • Extending decimal points on timestamp for write to measurement file .vi

    Hello Everyone
    Currently I am collecting a bunch of Fieldpoint Channels in LabVIEW (about 190) which is a lot of instrumentation. Right now we want to be sure the computer can keep up and read all of the channels every second. To test this theory I want to use the WTMF to get a timestamp for every channel (seems to be the easiest way).
    While reading the file I get like 5.68 so two decimal places. I was wondering if there was a way to get a more accurate time reading down to the millisecond. I know this is three places after the decimal point, but I was hoping I could extend this to 5-6 places past the decimal point.
    Usually when saving data I use the write to spreadsheet with one time column and can just format the readings through that, but for some reason I cannot figure this out with the WTMF
    If there is any input to check these time differences besides doing the above, that would also be appreciated.
    Any input would be amazing.
    Thanks so much

    Hi vaib,
    as i said already here, http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=170&view=by_date_ascending&message.id=332115#M332115 i think you can´t stop the writing process. If you start them, then you have to wait til the vi is ready. To measure the time you can use the "Tick count" function. See the attached picture.

  • Write to measurement file help

    Hi,
    I am a beginner. I am working on a VI.
    But have some problems that I couldn't solve.
    Here is the VI attached, I get on the output the positive and negative peak values which I then write to a mesurement file.
    But now I just get my last values of positive and negative peak in the measurement file.
    But I there were different values before that last values also. I want to save all the values, or every time that values changes on postive and negative, I would like to save all values to a file.
    Would be great if someone can help me with it.
    Regards,

    If you did the TDMS file your self (not use the express VI).  Then you could specify the group to write into and the channels.  It sounds like you want to add new channels each time you acquire a set of samples.  Look in the example finder (Help->Find Examples) for TDMS Write Triggered Data.vi.  It looks like a decent example to get you started.

  • Does write to measurement file need a blank file?

    Do we need to supply a blank file to write to measurement file? I am supplying a file with some text headers in it to my Write to measurement file, and for some reason it generates Error 100, saying that it is "not a path". I am not sure, if I need to supply a blank file or not. Also, is it possible to get rid of the headers that write to measurement VI itself generates in the file, and supply my own headers instead?
    Thanks.

  • Where is saved the Preference for "Write XMP IDs to Files on Import"?

    Hello,
    In a Jsx, I test if the "CreateLayerMarkersFromFootageXMP" is activated in the AE preferences with:
    app.preferences.getPrefAsBool( "Metadata", "CreateLayerMarkersFromFootageXMP" );
    But I cannot do the same for this one:
    "Write XMP IDs to Files on Import", which is also in the Preference Panel, but not saved in the Preference files I think.
    Or if it's saved in, where? And how can I check it in ExtendedScript?
    Thanks.

    It appears that the Metadata section only carries that one pref it seems.
    ["Metadata"]
              "CreateLayerMarkersFromFootageXMP" = 01
    The only other XMP prefs I've found in the AE CC files are:
    "Adobe After Effects 12.1 Prefs.txt"
    ["Metadata"]
              "Strip project XMP history from rendered output" = 00
              "Strip project XMP history from saved projects" = 00

  • System time in Write TO Measurement File

    Hi, everyone. I'm Sorin.
    I use a DAQ 6210 in Labview 8.2 to aquire some analog data at 1 sec,and i have 2 questions, please:
    1. I need to record the data into a file .lvm, so i use "Write TO Measurement File" module with one column of time (X axe). But this time is relative, and i want to be system time instead. Is there any way to resolv that ?
    2. Also, in my Waveform Chart i put absolute time because i couldn't find system time, though i need it. How can i change that ? Although, once i played with charts, and i succeeded to see system time, but now i can't. And i'm sure it wasn't complicate.

    Hi Sir
    I had similar problem. I tried to write to a measurement file with absolute time, instead of relative time here I got.
    Also, I want the format to be sth like this 13/09/25 18:16:01.
    Could you help me?

  • Error trying to write to a measurement file and then send via gmail.vi

    So as the title says, I have a VI which is writing to a tdms file, and I want to send the file by gmail once the program has completed it's run. I downloaded gmail.vi and am integrating it into my existing code. Both my original code and the gmail VI work fine on their own, but when I try to have the combined VI send the data file by email, I get the error message that I've attached.
    Basically, it seems like the .tdms data file is in use by the measurement code, and I need to know how to free it up so that the gmail code can attach and send it.
    I've attached the main code as well as my modified gmail VI, so hopefully someone can take a look at tell me what I'm missing.
    Any help is much appreciate!

    While I can't view all of your code because it is missing several SubVIs, I have a good idea of what you are trying to do. I believe the culprit is the "Write to measurement file" express VI. Near as I can tell the original reference to the TDMS file is being held open inside the express VI. Here's a good general rule for using Express VI's: when you see them, RUN THE OTHER WAY! I say because there is almost always a significant amount of code in there that is unnecessary, In this case, you simply need the Open TDMS file, Write to TDMS, Close file functions; you do not need all of the extra code that is in the express VI's.
    <edit> P.S. I hope the username/password in Email alert.vi is a placeholder otherwise you just gave every idiot with access to LabVIEW your username and password to the account.

  • When I try to download Firefox for Windows, it unzips the file and says it cannot find 7-Zip file and stops download

    I have windows 7 on a desktop. I had firefox before which worked fine then I attached a router to my computer that may have been defective and may have damaged the computer. I took the router off. Firefox suddenly reverted back to the start up page of when you are new to firefox, e.g. here's how it works, and stopped loading my normal home page. Even though I entered the tabs I wanted for my startup home page every time I shut down my computer it went back to the beginning thinking I had only just loaded it. I did lots of system diagnostics but nothing appeared to be wrong with my computer so I uninstalled Firefox, restarted, then downloaded it again. When I download it, it says run or save and I choose run. Then it extracts the file and a message comes up that says "7-Zip. Cannot find file. Then nothing more happens. No files are downloaded to my computer and it's as though I never tried to download it.

    SAVE the installer to your hard drive (do not use the "Run" option); save it to your Desktop so that you can find it. When the download is complete, close whatever browser you have open, click or double-click the file you downloaded and see if it installs without a problem.
    The downloader is a self-extracting archive and should not need or use 7-zip. I have 7-zip installed on my system and it does not interfere with nor is it used in the Firefox install process. Hopefully, you have not set the downloading of .exe files to be associated with 7-zip.

  • WebLogic writes to a text file and an applet reads the text file

    Hi there,
    I need some help here!
    I have an applet that needs to read from a text file:
    final URL prtDataURL = new URL("http://" + getCodeBase().getHost() + ":" + getCodeBase().getPort() + "/ESTC/lib/prtDataFile.txt");
                final URLConnection urlConn = prtDataURL.openConnection();
                urlConn.setUseCaches(false);
                urlConn.setDoInput(true);
                urlConn.setDoOutput(false);
                final InputStreamReader is = new InputStreamReader(urlConn.getInputStream());
                final BufferedReader in = new BufferedReader(is);
                String inputLine;
                while ((inputLine = in.readLine()) != null){
                    String[] tmp = inputLine.split("§");
                    this.dateTime = tmp[0];
                    this.quanTot = Integer.parseInt(tmp[1]);
                    this.quanSco = Integer.parseInt(tmp[2]);
                    this.quanSef = Integer.parseInt(tmp[3]);
                    this.valTot = Double.parseDouble(tmp[4]);
                    this.valSco = Double.parseDouble(tmp[5]);
                    this.valSef = Double.parseDouble(tmp[6]);
                in.close();
                is.close();and this is ok.
    Now I have the web server (WebLogic) that must write, at regular time intervals, to that file (prtDataFile.txt). The web application writes to the file (which belongs to the application).
    I've tried open the file with the File object but since the war file is unexploded I can't get the real path!
    I've tried open an url connection,
    final URL url = new URL("http://10.191.33.249:16801/ESTC/lib/prtDataFile.txt");
    final URLConnection connection = url.openConnection();
    connection.setDoOutput(true);
    connection.setUseCaches(false);
    connection.setDoInput(false);
    OutputStreamWriter out = new OutputStreamWriter(connection.getOutputStream());
    out.write(currentDate + "§" + quantTot + "§" + quantSco + "§" + quantSef + "§" + valTot + "§" + valSco + "§" + valSef);;
    out.flush();
    out.close();which seems a little stupid since I'm opening an URLConnection to the same place where the application is. Anyway it doesn't work, i.e., it doesn't write to the file but it doesn't gives me any errors or exceptions.
    Is there another way to get this two pieces communicating?
    Thanks in advance

    I have almost the exact same problem, and I am in the same situation as you are with respects to the language.
    I am simply trying to create a file and output some garbage to it but my applet always spits back a security violation. I've tried eliminating the restrictions on the applet runner I use but I still get the error.
    My method:
    debug = new Label() ;
    debug.setLocation( 20, 20 ) ;
    debug.setSize( 500, 15 ) ;
    add( debug ) ;
    // output
    try
         OutputStream file = new FileOutputStream( new File( "" + getCodeBase() + "output.txt" ) ) ;
         byte[] buffer = { 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 } ;
         file.write( buffer ) ;
         file.close() ;
    } catch( Exception e )
         debug.setText( e.toString() ) ;
         Can anyone tell why this isnt working?

  • Read from csv file and graph at certain interval

    Hi,
    I've been trying all day to modify a labView program so it reads in data from my csv file to graph temperatures from 4 ovens. The temperatures are logged in the csv file at 3s intervals and i wish to display them on 4 graphs. I've written a vi (or modified one i should say) to take in a temperature value from a numeric control. Im just having extreme difficulty with the reading part.

    Hi there,
    I have a similar problem here.  I see your point that you should read the file at once but I don't seem to be able to manage it.  Shouldn't you use some kind of
    a buffer to achieve this?  Let me tell you what I am trying to do:  I have a csv file with several columns that I want to display in several waveform charts.  Each column is a wavechart.  I should be able to change the speed at which the data is displayed.  I am able to do this because I change the wait until (ms) in the for loop.  However the application is too slow.  I think because I open the csv file in the for loop and display it while I am reading it.  I have tried to put it outside the for loop but this doesn't work.  I think I need some kind of a buffer in which the data is stored after reading it.  And then this buffer should be used in the for loop.  I have looked at the producer-consumer structure but I dont fully understand it as I am not that experienced with labview.  Any help or changes to my VI would be appreciated.  I have attached the VI and the file with meaningless data I am using for testing.

  • How to name columns in "Write LabView Measurement File" Express VI

    Hello, I am inputting two signals into the "Write LabView Measurement File" Express VI, and although the data is recorded correctly, there is no separate header for all the y-values (I only get the X-value column labeled: X_Value), and then there is a "Comment" field right next to it. How do I name these y-value columns so that the header appears alongside the X_Value tag? Thanks.

    I don't want to read from a LabView measurement file. I'm saving in a file; that's good enough. I just need to save it in headed columns. Any suggestions?

  • Document scanning software that allows for custom search fields, attaching a thumbnail to the scanned document file, and works with any scanner?

    I am a professional photographer, with years of paper model releases. I would like to find a document scanning software that works with my exisiting flatbed scanner (Canon MP250) that I can customize the seach fields for (ie. name, agency, job, etc.) and also attach a thumbnail image to as a job reference. I would like the document to be searchable as well. I've looked at a few different document scanning software companies, but I haven't found one that allows me to attach a jpeg file to a scanned PDF. Does anyone know if software like this exists?

  • CRIO write to measurement file

    I have been searching for a solution like mad but I have not found one yet.
    I am using a cRIO-9002 with the cRIO-9215 card.
    In regular labview one can create a signal generator and use the "write to measurment file"  function and a nice  file is created so that data points can be plotted versus time.
    Now once I try to do this in a Real Time VI for some reason the file never gets created.  I can not  figure out why.
    The whole point of this operation is to take accelorometer data from  an inflight RC helicopter but I am using a signal generator to simulate an input for the accelorometers.  I am including code just in case someone what to take a look.
    I am also open to any other solutions you might have.
    This should be a simple task but I can't seem to get it to work.

    Hi Carsale,
    I tested out a really simple vi using Write to measurement file.
    Double click on the express vi.
    I simply directed the path to C: (root directory of the controller)
    You can then FTP to it by specifying its IP address ex: ftp://10.0.35.160/
