Attaching a BI Publisher report to an email from Apex

Hello,
My Apex application runs reports using a BI Publisher server- using a defined query and rtf template.
The end user clicks on a button and a pdf report opens up- works perfect.
Now, I need the click of the button to send an email having this report as an attachment.
I am familiar with sending email from Apex + attachment.
My problem is to create the report somewhere on the server without opening in a new browser window, then to attach the report that has just been create using BI Publisher to the email.
Does anyone know how this can be accomplished?
Thanks
Rani

Hi Tony,
Just found out about a completely different solution:
Thanks for your help.
Rani
Solution:
declare
datoteka blob;
st_poste number;
begin
datoteka:=apex_util.get_print_document(
p_application_id=>'183',
p_report_query_name=>'REVIEW_COORD',
p_report_layout_name=>'REVIEW_COORD',
p_report_layout_type=>'rtf',
p_document_format=>'pdf');
st_poste:=apex_mail.send(
p_to=>'[email protected]',
p_from=>'[email protected]',
p_body=>'Test',
p_subj=>'Subject');
apex_mail.add_attachment(
p_mail_id=>st_poste,
p_attachment=>datoteka,
p_filename=>'REVIEW_COORD.pdf',
p_mime_type=>'application/pdf');
apex_mail.push_queue;
end ;

  • Can I use Oracle Report Server to print from APEX? How?

    Hello, we have Oracle Application server, Oracle Report server and now we just installed APEX and doing a pilot project. Since we don't have BI Publisher, how can we use our Oracle Report server to print from apex report? Can it be done and if yes where can I get some detail info that I can share with our DBA?
    I have in past asked questions about the printing issues but I have been refered to http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/html/configure_printing.html#01 section 5 which talks about another installation.
    Thanks so very much for any info.
    -iahmadi

    You can use FOP, but the formatting of the xsl (Xml Style Sheets) takes a little work. If you have the Oracle Reports server up and access to the development product, why not go that route?
    You want the filtering and sorting and searching, yes, but then you also want to print them out.. Then you would probably be best looking at replacing the Oracle Reports setup with BI Publisher. You can convert Most your reports over to bi publisher layouts easily.. (I have heard of some reports that do require recreating in Bi Publisher from Oracle Reports..)
    Then you can have your Apex Reports and call Bi Publisher from APEX and everyone wins..
    Is your Oracle Reports stuff used by non-APEX applications, that could be modified to use Bi Publisher?
    Thank you,

  • Sending emails from APEX

    Hi friends,
    I'm trying to create some procedures to send emails to users when some specific situations happens to the database, using APEX.
    In the maillog from Apex Admin, I always get the error ORA-24247 network access denied by access control list (ACL).
    I searched in foruns and manuals and got the procedure to enable in http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10513_01/doc/install.310/e10496/otn_install.htm#BEHGBHDF, but I could not make it work.
    It says the table DBA_NETWORK_ACLS does not exist.
    How should I proceed?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    try to run this with sys user in your apex database

  • Sending email from apex 4.0 with oracle 11g ee

    Hi,
    I the past when working with apex 3 I was able to work with apex mailsend very nice.
    In apex 4.0 with oracle 11g ee I'm not able to send emails anymore.
    Last error message in the queue is:
    ORA-29279: SMTP permanent error: 550 through this server without authentication.
    the smtp server has not been changed, the code is fine
    How I can go further?
    Many thanks,
    Florin

    This is a different subject:
    Apex Reports and links to external content
    What you are asking should be possible.
    Risk: everyone who uses the link needs to have the same drive mapping if you are using letters on a Windows PC. As long as that is not a usability issue, you are fine.
    I would recommend you review the LINK syntax in the report column.
    Your text seems like you have already attempted this.
    >
    Click Here , i.e. href="file:///E:/Echo Destination/1212040003.docx"
    . . . . . . . from XYZ
    Here I am unable to open this document via click on this column link on report............
    Thanks..To confirm the link syntax you want first, Write a simple HTML file with the link to make sure you have the correct quoting and the link content is correct.
    What does the REPORT resulting HTML look like when you examine it on the page?
    I would expect something like:
    <a href=file:///E:/Echo Destination/1212040003.docx> go to file </a>If the result is different, then we can discuss why it isn't what you are expecting.

  • Emails from APEX being delivered late

    I have APEX 3.2 and emails are taking several hours to deliver. If I check the mail queue and click on "Deliver all mail", then only they are delivered. Otherwise they are taking several hours.
    any clues ?

    Hi,
    additionally you could force the mails in queue to be sent by calling the procedure APEX_MAIL.PUSH_QUEUE. For details, you may want to have a look on the API documentation:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14373_01/apirefs.32/e13369/apex_mail.htm#CHDJGGHG
    Note that depending on the amount of concurrent mail send actions this might slow down response times, because this call will usually wait for the queue to be done with the mail send process before it returns and a session may have to wait for the queue to be ready for being "pushed" again if the queue has just been "pushed" by another session.

  • Bug Report: fck_link.html missing from apex download distro

    Hello folks,
    I'm using the "Starndard HTML Editor" item in Apex 3.0
    I'm trying to edit a link in the body of the item textarea. The pop-up does come up but I get the following error inside the window:

    The requested URL /i/fck/editor/dialog/fck_link.html was not found on this server.
    I double checked original apex download (apex_3.0.zip) and this file seems to be missing from the source.
    Can anyone please attach this file so users can download?
    Thanks a lot.

  • Non OBIEE Publisher reports and dashboards

    I have developed several Publisher reports that source data from direct SQL queries against an Oracle DB (They're not star schema reports that are appropriate for OBIEE). The reports are parameterized and direct SQL requests are used to populate the lists of values for the parameters. My task is to make them available on a dashboard.
    I have a report attached to a dashboard but I cannot figure out how to prompt for the parameters in the dashboard. Everything I've read about dashboard prompts and presentation variables assumes the report is sourced by OBIEE.
    Is there a way to do this?

    You have to create parameter in reports and as well create prompt in dashboard with same name.
    With this link, the values will be passed into report parameter.
    Use that parameter in report to filter

  • Publishing reports using BEx to the Portal

    We have a folder called Store_Data (under Public Documents in KM) that has 500 store folders for reports.  They are sorted by store number.  When publishing reports to those folders from BEx Broadcaster the folders are sorted by creation date which makes it difficult to find the store folders.
    Is there a way to have them sorted the same as the portal?

    It is sorting fine in the portal but when you access the folder through BEx is not sorted.

  • Unable to Check ADD Attachment Check Box. Thereby getting only email and not the attachment (which will contain the output of BO report , in Excel Format)

    Post Author: hteoh

    I have an BO related issue. I tried to schedule a smtp event in BO to email the report output as Excel. Since this report will go to different users, I unchecked the Use the Job Server's defaults (CHECK BOX). For some reason, I can't check the Add Attachment(CHECK BOX). I received the email but without attachement. Do you know why I can't use attachment. The SMTP event works perfectly if I check Use the Job Server's defaults.

    Hi!
    Use the below code to populate the Sender and receiver mail ids:
    DATA GV_SENDER    TYPE SWC_OBJECT.
    DATA GV_SENDER_ID LIKE SWOTOBJID.
    SWC_CONTAINER LT_CONTAINER.
    reset data for CTCV
    CALL FUNCTION 'CTCV_INIT_USER_DATA'.
      Create sender using sender mail address from new table
        SWC_CLEAR_CONTAINER LT_CONTAINER.
        SWC_CREATE_OBJECT GV_SENDER    'RECIPIENT' SPACE.
        SWC_SET_ELEMENT LT_CONTAINER 'AddressString'
                                         ZMAIL-SENDER.
        SWC_SET_ELEMENT LT_CONTAINER 'TypeID' 'B'.
        SWC_CALL_METHOD GV_SENDER    'CreateAddress' LT_CONTAINER.
        IF SY-SUBRC NE 0.
             MESSAGE ID SY-MSGID TYPE 'E' NUMBER SY-MSGNO
                     WITH SY-MSGV1 SY-MSGV2 SY-MSGV3 SY-MSGV4
                     RAISING SENDER_CREATION_FAILED.
        ENDIF.
        SWC_OBJECT_TO_PERSISTENT GV_SENDER GV_SENDER_ID.
    Similarly you can create the recipient mail id. Pass the GV_SENDER_ID to OPEN_FORM.
    Cheers!
