Audigy 2 NX + Inspire 7.1 only side speakers work

I have Audigy 2 NX and Creative Inspire T7700 7. Speakers. However, the only the "side/headphones" plugin on the Audigy 2 NX seems to work. I have plugged in all the cables (front, rear, center) into this working side plugin, and they all work. I have my setup as 7. with digital audio disabled. Does anyone know what's wrong?

Well I am kind of disappointed with this USB soundcard. There always is something which prevent it from working properly. I try to explain the problem.
If you are watching a PAL DVD, the film's 24 fps is converted to PAL's 25 fps that causes a speedup of 4%. For instance WinDVD has a  Pal TruSpeed option, which  slows down the video and audio to the correct speed so people/objects/scenes don't move too fast and voices and music aren't higher in pitch.
Since the Pal TruSpeed feature stretches the video and sound it can't pass the digital sound or it would go out of sync with the video.
Which means, if your sound card is just able to work in digital mode (like you have suggested with enabling the digital SPDIF to external decoder) you won't hear any sound at all.
In such a case I have to choose the analog sound, which is in my case again just 2 speakers. If I had the Audigy 2 internal sound card, I am pretty sure I would be able to choose an analog 7. speaker setting, which is not possible in my case.
The only way to solve that would be to use optical cables passed to a real external decoder system. But dude I already bought the Creative Inspire T7900 7. speakers, but they don't have an optical jack.
Thats why there is always something what gives me a headache with this USB soundcard. I wish I had another solution for my laptop than USB sound.

Only 2 speakers working when playing music?

i just bought a creative inspire P7800 7.1
when i do the speaker test, all speakers work but when i try to play music from an audio cd or mp3, only the right and left speakers work, and the sound isn't loud enough, before i had a 4.1 speaker system and when i playd mp3 or audio cd all 4 spearkers worked and the sound was loud enough..
my question is, how can i make all 7 speakers work together as if they were stereo, so the volume is loud enough?

What sound card do you have now? If your using a Creative sound card, you can turn on the CMSS feature to upmix Stereo to a 5.1/7.1 soundfield depending on the capability of the sound card. If your using another sound card, you will need to check with the manufacturer if it had such upmix features.

Only Front speakers work with Vista and x

New Windows Vista, installed x-fi extreme gamer and only the front three speakers work on 5. system. Help, i tried and downloaded the update from Creative, no help, still not working, any fixes, i want my 5. like my old XP system allowed....

Only external speakers work!

A few days ago my internal speakers stopped working. I've tried rebooting, and resetting the PRAM and inserting and removing my headphones from the jeck to try and make it realise they're not plugged in anymore.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can get my internal speakers working again?
How does the mechanism work that detects when headphones are plugged in?

Sound coming through speakers connected to an Airport Express has some delay due to the processing involved. This would be annoying when trying to watch video on your computer. This is why iTunes won't use Airport Express connected speakers when watching video.
There is a third-party application called Airfoil. It allows any sound to be sent to an Airport Express.

Inspire 5.1 5300 - only 2 speakers work

Hi,
I've been using these Inspire 5.1 5300 speakers for quite some time and it worked without problems all this while.
But today out of a sudden I realised there is only sound coming out from two of the five speakers.
I thought the speakers were spoilt so I tested by switching the cables around but it worked after that.
What can I do to rectify this problem? Does the problem lie with the settings (I didn't change anything) or the subwoofer that I'm connecting my speakers to?
Any help is appreciated.

Hi - I have the same problem as frogdorr. Onset 2 years ago.
Inspire 5300 speakers with audigy OEM card. Worked fine (and brilliantly!) for several months to a year. Then suddenly back two speakers stopped working. It is not the speakers - rotate them and they work fine but the new back speakers don't work.
Checked all windows settings (2000 & XP), speakers, conflicts etc. Reinstalled win.
Rotate the black and green plugs ( then rear becomes front, front becomes rear) means front left & right speakers don't work.
Used the audigy sound card with quadraphonic speakers (fps600) with no problem front & back. Used built in M/B sound card with the same result- no sound back speakers.
Seems like a cube loose wiring problem to me.
Where to from here?
Is there a service manual or approach to fixing this problem?

Creative Inspire 5300 5.1 Problems - Only Two Speakers Work 100%

I recently purchased the Creative Inspire 5300 5.1 speaker system for my home computer, thinking that a low-end setup would work fine until I gathered the resources to trade them in for something better. Upon hooking them up though I find that they do not work as I was led to believe. The front two corner speakers and subwoofer work fine, just as they would if they were a 2.1 setup, however the center and back speakers make no noise. I know I have them hooked up correctly as I can go into my onboard soundcard?s setup program and test them individually, but in actually practice they do nothing. Not with games or movies that are supposedly 5.1 enabled.
I'm clueless as to what the problem may be. Is it that I need a Creative brand soundcard, that may Abit motherboard and it'ss built-in soundcard are unable to establish the proper frequencies or whatnot? Perhaps I do not have the appropriate surround sound drivers installed? Any help would be vastly appreciated.

You may need to enable certain settings within your sound card to upmix the Stereo to 5.1. Check with your sound card support for further information. They should be able to assit you on this.

Only two speakers working with Terratec Aureon 7.1 Universe soundcard!

When playing a CD only the two front speaker produce sound. However, with the test program from my soundcard all speakers seem to work.
I've set the advanced speaker setting in the "Sound and Audio Devices" (Control Panel) to "7.1 home theater speakers" and under the Audio tab I enabled 'Aureon Wave' as the default device for sound playback and recording.
Have I missed something?
Any suggestions are very much appreciated.

The Audigy will only put out 5..
You are free to select any setup in the Windows System, regardless of the actual audio Hardware installed.
However, you state here that your speakers are also 5.
If you only have 5 speakers and a subwoofer, then you are indeed limited to 5.
If you have already invested the money in a 7. system with 7 speakers and a subwoofer, then get any audigy 2 card (I just bought a ZS for $80). The speaker system was probably a lot more expensi've, and the rather cheap soundcard upgrade will let you use it.Message Edited by rstich on 06-5-2005 06:7 PM

Only 2 speakers working when using optical

I have my speakers set to 5., and I have adiohq set to use digital output only. I am using the optical out on the front of my audigy platinum dri've to connect to my 5. receiver. When I do a speaker test, only the 2 front speakers make any noise. The center channel and rear channels have nothing. How can I get the optical out to use those speakers?

I've got the same problem. I tried everything on this FAQ, though it's for the Audigy, not the ZS. Are you using the Toslink connecter on the front of the I/O dri've too?

Only 2 speakers work

for christmas i put in a new soundcard and it works fine, but now itunes only uses 2 speakers in my 5.1 surround sound. I know the speakers are working because when i do the creative speaker test i can hear each speaker working. But in itunes it only uses the front left/right speaker and the subwoofer. I'm pretty sure that its just a setting but i don't know how to fix it. Any advice would be much apreciated.

I'm not aware of a setting within iTunes, but I had a similiar problem. I didn't want "5.1" sound out of my stereo music, but I did want sound to come out of each speaker while playing music.
On my particular set of speakers, there is a switch that allows real 5.1 sound (like for games and dvd's), and then another position which will pump a 2.1 signal through all speakers. That worked for me, check your speakers and the control unit of your speakers for a similiar switch.

No Sound From Headphone Jack, Only Internal Speakers working in Macbook Pro A1278

Hello, the internal speakers of Macbook Pro A1278 OSX 10.7.5 are working perfectly, but no sound from headphones or external speakers when plugged in. Headphones/speakers recognized when plugged in, shown by System Preferences/Sound, and since the sound stops from internal speakers when headphones/speakers are plugged in. No red light seen coming from headphone jack, as I read in other posts. The problem began after a cable was connected between computer and stereo system. Maybe overloaded the sound card and burned out a connection? Wondering if you think that the sound card needs to be replaced or is there another solution possible? Thank you.

Inspire t7700: Music only from 2 speakers..HELP!

I just bought a new computer and Inspire t7700 with it. (7.1 speakers)
But now when im trying to listen to music, only two speakers works. Why?
Theres nothing wrong with them because when I do the speakersystem "test" all speakers works.
But when Im trying to listen to music only two speakers works.
Could anyone help me?

The sticky nvidiot is referring to is here. That's only applicable to Creative soundcard and if you have other type/brand of soundcard, you will need to check with them if the soundcard have any form of upmixing feature for stereo to multi-surround.

I'm sure it's probably a dri've problem with my sound card because I bought it oem but I am not sure what to do. I followed all the troubleshooting tips i could find on this website and thought this forum would be my last resort. I have managed to get the side speakers working if I use the 5. card to 7. speaker switch on the pack of the bass speaker of the p7800. i downloaded the latest driver for it too, i've done everything i know that i can and I need to know if anyone else has had this problem and what i can do about it.

On the PS3 forums they said what I'm doing sounds like it should work.
I emailed tech support (creatives) last thurs or fri and am waiting to hear back.
On another note, after recording the audio to prove that the signal was in fact being received correctly, I've a couple of times tried to replay the audio file with the PS3 completely disconnected and found that I only hear static.
This issue is frustrating me to no end... and its the last piece I need for my "total entertainment experience"

my asus laptop has 4 speakers; but i've got only 2 speakers working (front).
