I have almost the exact problem with my X-Fi card -- except that the Vista speaker test produces no sound from the rear speakers either. I have a Logitech mouse; I tried disabling the Logitech software and drivers upon rebooting, but that made no difference.Any other folks with no sound from the rear speakers?
My Logitech X-530 stopped working in 5. mode also, and I would only get the 2. option in the Creative Diagnostic panel, and also the Audio console/Speaker window. May have happened after a driver upgrade when I switched to Vista. I finally found the (simple) solution.
I went to Control Panel/Sound, Speaker icon, then hit the Configure button at the lower left (I didn't see this the first 7 times I was on this screen). From there it was easy.
Hope your problem is this simple as well.

  • PLEASE HELP: installing my Soundblaster Audigy LS-soundcard with the latest hardware(bundle)drive

    Problem:
I have a Soundblaster Audigy LS Soundcard in one of my PCI slots (I already tried the other slot with the same result). I run Windows XP professional SP2.
When I install the hardwaredriver-bundle version: Sound Blaster Audigy LS .04.0055, I have no problem, but when I install version .0.4.077 (in this example: or I install version 055 or I install version 077), I have the following problem: (through Control Panel) in system properties/hardware/device manager, I find PCI Device listed in " other devices " with a black exclamationmark in a yellow circle, while the SB Audigy LS is listed in the group " sound, video and game controllers ". The soundcard works, which is great but why is the exclamationmark showing? I already tried a different PCI slot, IRQ assignement in BIOS, but is still shows. The strange thing is, if I install first version 055 and then version 077, the problem is gone. A new problem that occurs if I do so, is that the PC hangs when starting Windows (but I'm not sure if that has to do with the fact that I install version MediaSource 5 Player-Organizer 5.20.23 over version 5.0.38, just to keep the MediaSourceGo! Toolbar (because it's no longer part of the softwarebundle version 20.23 - which has been confirmed by the support of Creative), the same with version of CD Burner Plugin 5.0.44 over 5.0.3 because it's not really clear on the website, if you need the previous version or if it's a full "update"). Please URGENT (with detailed info on every explained problem/issue - so I can try to resolve it) help.
    Thanx,

maybe you should ask Eugene Gavrilov (?) to write his KX-Drivers for MSDOS too.. maybe he'll do so if you donate him an Audigy 4 *lol*

  • RS480M2 and Audigy 2 freeze problem

Is there somehow who is able to run an Audigy 2 on a RS480M2 board?
I've done some googleing to realize that no one seems to be able to run an Audigy 2 on that board. After some time (10 minutes, 1 hours, some hours, etc.), the computer freezes. Some are talking about conflicts between the onboard LAN controller and the Audigy 2 both nobody made the combination work even when tweaking devices IRQ. Do somehow know how to make this work? Is there a way to disable the onboard LAN? It's not a very good solution, but I would still be able to use my Audigy 2.
    My setup:
    Antec 1080Amg (430W)
    AMD64 3000+
    MSI RS480M2
    Audigy 2
1 Gig Corsair Value Select DDR400 Dual Channel
    Raptor 74 Gig
As you see, the Audigy 2 causes problem with just the onboard peripherals.
Thanks for all your comments. I hope that MSI support is aware of that problem.

I have an RS480M2-IL and I'm running an Audigy 2 Platinum EX with no sound card issues so far.  I didn't do anything exotic in my BIOS settings.  I have some other problems but they are not sound card related.  The card is installed in the farthest slot from the CPU.  I had to use an adaptor to get the extra supply cable to the card because the ANTEC Aria doesn't come with a floppy power connector on the PSU.  I have  the external module installed as well with Firewire and MIDI ports and remote control all working.
The card works for Cubasis/Soundfonts and VST plugins such as Crystal and Supersaw.  It's much more responsive in this system than in my old PIII system especially for Crystal (a very CPU demanding additive synthesizer).  I am using on board video (64MB) and LAN.  FSB is 1000MHz.
I can do a detailed check of my BIOS settings if you want.
The install of all of the Audigy S/W was not clean.  I migrated my hard disk from my old PC and re-instaled WINXP over what was already there so this is not a ground up build (I'm kind of surprised that it works).
    Let me know.

  • Creative Digital I/O Module with Audigy 2 ZS Problems

5Creative Digital I/O Module with Audigy 2 ZS Problems? Hello - new to the forums, but a long time Soundblaster user.
I have read pkc's Digital Connections FAQ, but i am still struggling with my digital setup:
I have had an Audigy 2 ZS for some time. I have recently bought a surround sound amp and want to connect my PC to the amp digitally using the Audigy 2 ZS. So i have bought the Creative Digital I/O Module which understand is perfect for connecting the two, but i cannot get any output from it.
Firstly, the Creative Digital I/O Module is part no. SB0002 and has a 4 pole mini jack. I have connected it to the digital output of the Audigy. I have then connected the i/o module to the amp using digital coax cable. The amp receives no signal from the module and also i cannot see any light from the module's optical output. What do i need to do to get the i.o module working with the Audigy and sound to the amp?
Secondly, i have read in pjc's post that the digital output can act as a digital coax, but how do connect a 4-pole mini jack output to a single phono jack for the digital coax?
Thanks in advance for any advice here.

  • 2 different Audigy 2 Soundcards & 2 different problems (vista problems onl

I posted this in Daniel K's forum post on the vista section of the board, but feel i'll get a better repsonse here.
"Fact 5:? I get sound from the card for less than one minute before Vista finally freezes. The operating system itself freezes and will crash with a BSOD. This has been tested with Vista x32 and x64." (Part of another members post on the other section)
I get this exact same rubbish with mine, It works perfectly fine in XP32/64 & ubuntu but not Vista32/64. Also with my Audigy 2 Value Every now & again it will sound as if it is slurring/corrupting. Again it is perfectly fine in XP32/64 & Ubuntu, but not Vista 32/64. I have tried so many things.
    Such as:
    Reinstalling Vista countless times
Changing Drivers constantly i must have tried about 30 different drivers.
Changing PCI slot of the cards
Put them in my 2nd machine which has vista32/xp32 as dual boot, same happens again on that one but only in VISTA!
    Fully Rebuilding the whole machine!
Now I know i don't have the best of motherboards but if it works perfectly fine in XP32/64 & Ubuntu why doesn't it in VISTA?
    My computer consists of :
    Intel E6300 @ .86ghz (default speeds)
Asrock 775Dual-VSTA (Bios is upto date with the one on their page)
    2gig OCZ Plat DDR2-800
500gb SAMSUNG HD50LJ SCSI Disk Device (SATA)
400gb Seagate ST3400832A ATA Device (IDE)
20gb Maxtor 6Y20P0 ATA Device (IDE)
    Nvidia Geforce 7600GS
    470w Enermax Noisetaker
    Vista Ultimate 32bit & 64bit
Currently running this soundcard in my main pc because it is the only one which will work but it still slurrs/sounds like it corrupts every hour or so.
SigmaTel STAC9750/5 @ Creative Audigy 2 Value (SB0400) Sound Card PCI
The other sound card which blue screens literally a minute after Vista loads is this:
SigmaTel STAC972/23 @ Creative EMU0K2 Audigy 2 Audio Processor PCI
I'm at wits end with creative not supporting audigy 2 sound cards well in vista.

Hmmm so does anyone from creative have an explanation for this? or is this post gonna be swept under the rug like all the others i see?

  • Soundblaster Audigy 2ZS Has Problems with

I recently purchased a PS3 and I use the optical out and connect it to my sound card and from the card to my klipsch speakers. I get 5. sound from my ps3 via the route I have listed above when I play a ps2 game or if i am to hover over the preview of a demo of a ps3 game. Blue rays will work as well. I don't get any sound when I play the demo of a ps3 game or play a ps3 game or even when I play a dvd. When I called Sony (2 hour phone call) they came to the conclusion after lots of trial and error with the ps3 that my decoder did not support the Dolby Digital that the PS3 was outputting.
Other information that you may need:
    The PS3 is updated.
I have tried sound through the hdmi cord and using an optical from the tv (same problem as above).
I can get 2 channel sound from the tv though through the hdmi when I play these things.
Oh and yes I have the latest drivers for my sound card.
If you need any other information I will be happy to give it.

  • Audigy 2 zs problems help!!

i have a audigy 2 zs with latest drivers and have had no problems whatsoever with any games until i recently installed close combat, first to fight. The problem i have is ingame i have no music or gun fire effects. Spoke to take 2 who said it is a soundcard fault the only way i can get it to work is by going into dxdiag of direct x and turning the soundcard hardware acceleration to basic instead of full but that inturn turns off all surround sound (5. i have ) for all other games . I have to keep going into dxdiag to either turn acceleration down or up dependent on which game i play. PLease can you advise me on any possible solutions.

  • K8n neo2 platnum memory soundcard problems.

I just recently bought this board and im having problems with it. here is what I have installed.
windows XP home edition (all updates installed)
    AMD 64 bit 3500+
    (4) 512 meg sticks pc 3200 underclocked to ddr 333 (mushkin blue)

liteon dvd burner (set to slave)
    (2) 36 gig raptors in raid 0
    ATI X800 pro
soundblaster live Xgamer (installed on orange PCI slot)
problem im having is when I play everquest or everquest 2 my computer crashes. I run checkit diagnostics that came with norton systemworks 2005 and it says my memory has erros. Ive already sent ram back to newegg bought new ram same problem. at first the motherboard wouldnt install the soundcard I moved it to a diffrent pci slot and it installed. However same problem checkit diagnostics still says I got bad memory and Im pretty sure well im sure that just cant be the case or I have to have the worst luck in the world to get bad ram 2X's in a row.
I did call mushkin today they told me there is problems with this board and soundblaster cards ive been looking for answers on the web and and found none so ive come here in search of some.  Is my soundcard uncompatable with this motherboard? or do I need to set somthing up in the bios to make it compatable (im sure I have latest bios as I bought the board like 2 weeks ago so im sure thats not the problem eather)
    any suggestions?
    thanks.
(note for some reason with only 2 sticks of ram installed everything seems to work fine I told mushkin this they told me it has somthign to do with my soundcard that I need to contact MSI)

I have a Sound Blaster Live! 4.1 (CT-4760), and I do get random crashes. Sometimes I'm stable for days, sometimes it happens more frequently.
Usually happens while playing Enemy Territory. The computer would freeze for about 20 seconds and would resume normally after that. No errors, no reboots, no logs. During those 20 seconds everything would lock, and I would get the sound loop.
But I could blame many things other than my sound card:
    * Enemy Territory has proven to give problems before, like with video drivers, etc.
    * I could blame my PSU only having 16A on the 12V rail (will upgrade soon).
    * Or I could blame my ram not being the best out there.

  • Audigy Player: Strange problem w/ internal inp

    Hello everybody!
Since I'm running WinXP Pro I've encountered a really strange problem with my internal inputs. I have a DVB-s card connected and cannot hear any sound. Currently I have to use the external output of the DVB-card and the external Line In of the Audigy - quite sloppy! The thing is, all worked fine using Win98. And - I can record sound from DVB but not listen to it simultaneously! This works (...) for all internal inputs, ie. CD, TAD, etc. I tried almost every driver I could get my hands on, but it didn't help.
    Any help would be appreciated.

I have the Ms-8348a ......is not big diference between them i think....for the beginig you need to know that this drive is the pourest cd-rom i ever see........The read of the cd's is the badest thing at this unit.......I recomend you to buy a separate cd-rom like Asus,Pioneer,Lg anyway one of the brands and no SONY (is not so good)......With the burning you will not have big problems it will work almost with all cd-blank brands....but with the reading of these cd's is other problem.....you will want to use this unit only for writting not for reading.....If you have WinXP you will have a problem with this unit with a limit speed of writing at 16x.....read my detailed post 'MS-8348a problems and SOLUTION!!!!'.......Here is the link with the latest firmware for the (MAKE SURE IS THE 'A' VERSION BEFORE FLASHING!!!!!!).........http://www.cdfreaks.com/drive/firmware/799...hope it help

  • Soundcard problem

    Hi,
I have an Audigy2 and recently got a Hauppauge WinTV Nova S plus.
So far so good, everything worked fine.
Earlier I tried MythTV and after installing it and configuring it (following the archwiki) I used it for a little while.
I came to the conclusion that I don't like it, so I removed it again.
    And now comes the problem.
Since I removed it, for some reason, somehow, my Audigy2 isn't the default card anymore, but my dvb-s,
thus artsd fails with "can't create mcop directory" after creating a link /root/.kde/socket-bla and I have no sound.
It's been established on IRC that it isn't an alsa problem and creating a file .asoundrc containing
    pcm.!default { type hw card 1
    ctl.!default { type hw card 1
    is a quick fix.
However, I'd like to get back the original state with the Audigy2 being the default.
    cat /proc/asound/cards
    0 [CX8801         ]: CX88x - Conexant CX8801
                          Conexant CX8801 at 0xf4000000
    1 [Audigy2        ]: Audigy2 - Audigy 2 ZS [SB0350]
                          Audigy 2 ZS [SB0350] (rev.4, serial:0x20021102) at 0xdf00, irq 23
    cat /proc/asound/modules
    0 cx88_alsa
    1 snd_emu10k1
There are also two symlinks(socket-files?) called Audigy2 and CX8801 pointing to card1 and card0 in /proc/asound/
I tried reinstalling alsa-utils and libs and ran alsaconf but it didn't help.
If you can help me and need more info let me know.
    Thank you

Thanks byte, the Audigy2 is default again, however there's still one little annoyance.
In KMix the dvb-s is still default, meaning, if I click on the little speaker, it displays the capture mixer of the dvb-s,
but when I then choose Mixer, it shows the Audigy mixer settings.
Any idea on how to change this?

  • Audition CS5.5 (OSX) + RME HDSPe MADI Soundcard Problem

There is a big problem here with Audition CS5.5 and the RME HDSPe MADI soundcard.
Stereo playback is no problem but surround playback is. This is a 64in/64out soundcard and Audition
seems to have problems with the amount of outputs. With surround playback and the output channels
set to 1/2/3/4/5/6 for 5.1 playback, the output starts at channel 57! Then one channel is left out - the next
playback channel is 59 and so on. Please make Audition CS5.5 aware of more I/O channels.
When I switch to the additional RME HDSPe PCIe card which only has 26 I/O Audition works normal and addresses
all I/Os correctly as far as I could check.
I even have the two soundcards aggregated to a 90in/90out CoreAudio device. It would be great to have the possibility
to use this aggregated device too. RME allows on driver level to combine different/multiple soundcards for ASIO and CroeAudio.
It would be great if Audition can support all audio interface combinations.
The RME soundcards work absolutely flawless on the same machine with Nuendo 5, PT HD9 and Logic 9 so I can exlude
    any driver or setup problem.
Manyn thanks in advance for any effort to solve this.

I have to say that I'm a bit surprised no official seems to take this serious enough to answer to this problem.
Audition CS5.5 is surprisingly good and mainly layed out very ergonomically. Therefore I think a lot more
professionals will be interested in this software. But things like problems with sound card environments with I/O cpability
above, let's say, 32 channels is a major show stopper.
I'm very confident that the problems lies in Auditions channel handling with CoreAudio, because any other (professional) software
runs perfectly with 128 or 180 channels I/O combined.
I read in another post that no patches are planned until CS6. This would be a real drag ... to use Audition with surround files and
higher channel count I have to do work arounds that aren't funny at all.

  • Blaster Audigy SE Mic problem in Vi

  • SB audigy 2 microphone problems when running fullscreened a

Sounds odd, but here is the deal.
Drivers works perfectly, nothing strange, thing is, im using Ventrilo(voice chat prog.) pretty much and here it comes:
?the other people cant hear me when im tabbed into a fullscreen game or any other fullscreen application, as soon as i tab out (app/game still running) they can hear me.
I've tried to disable the built in soundcard on the motherboard, same thing, tried tons of differnt drivers (if they gainst all odds are failing) same thing. I have tried to change settings for EAX, spdid etc etc and still the same problem. Tried loads of different settings in ventrilo aswell.
    Im running Vista64.
Im running out of ideas now and hopefully someone has a clue of what it can be or anything to try.

A friend of mine had the exact same problem after he reinstalled windows. (And installed SB drivers from CD)
He installed the latest SB drivers and the problem went away.
Now i ofcourse dont know if you allready have the latest drivers.
But thats one solution to the problem i've found.

  • Audigy 5.1 problems with no bass

    Hi there,
First time posting on these forums, hope someone can help me. Judging by other threads I've been to, possibly not
I have an Audigy "player". As in I don't know whether it's a Value or SE or whatever. I also have a set of Cambridge DTS 3500 speakers with 5..
The problem I have is the bass kinda comes on and goes off when it feels like it. But not just the bass, the center speaker. When I go into the mixer and test the speakers out, all speakers play - except the subwoofer. When I play an mp3, the center speaker and subwoofer don't play.
Driver wise, I've tried the initial Creative install CD that came with it - this used to work perfectly but for some reason it stopped. When I went to Windows 7 it started working again, but stopped after a while and started doing the?random "play and not play"?thing again. So I went back to XP in an attempt to fix.
Now I've installed the Daniel K drivers (latest, very latest: http://forums.creative.com/t5/Sound-Blaster/SB-Audigy-Series-Support-Pack-3-5-0--2009/m-p/53838)
    Still no success.
When I reboot it says the CTRegServ.exe isn't found (something like that), PlxCore.plx isn't foound and Kareoke.exe. is also not found.
When I install those Daniel K drivers, the EAX thing doesn't install properly. When I run CTENGINE (which is complains about) that won't install. Error -600.
And yet still I cannot work out how to get the 5. always on with subwoofer.
    Any ideas?

I tried resetting the card AND the this:
    http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board/message?board.id=soundblaster&message.id=2563
    Nothing worked.
Please help! I am using the Logitech X-530 speakers.
