Audio skipping issue CS6

I'm having an issue with skipping audio in Premiere CS6. (Latest version). I checked the forum and it has been suggested that it could have been an interupted conform - but have tried setting up a new project, re-importing, re-booting, moving the original file and relinking... Nothing has solved the issue.
The playhead and video move as normal, but the audio appears to be 2 second clips from all over the timeline - completely out of sync.
I'm using a mid 2010 MBP with 8 gig of ram.
The edit isn't a complex one - a single video file with 2 audio tracks, although it's a big file:
Needless to say the audio is fine when the file is played outside of Pr - and actually in desperation tried a new project on a much older MBP (2007ish - 4g ram) which handled the project fine with no issues. I can't use this machine for any more complex edits though! The 2010 machine struggles enough.
Thanks - I'd appreciate any suggestions.

I haven't really kept track of what I've installed/uninstalled. But I can't remember anything that would change the way the iPod works. No OS X updates, no iTunes updates, nothing to do with USB, etc.
I updated the iPod to the newest version of its OS (1.1.1) before I had the problem, but that didn't change. When I restored, though, it should have wiped out any traces of the original iPod OS, I think, and just installed the newest one.
One thing that I did do was that when I was restoring it, I didn't do a lot of messing around on the computer. Keeping in mind that it connects via USB, and that it appears that the iPod doesn't reboot like the older iPods when you're done syncing, I reasoned that there must be two-way communication between devices. Since USB performance is susceptible to CPU load, I let it just sit while it was syncing to keep that load down.
Before I restored, I did get an error where the iPod and iTunes lost contact while they were syncing. But it might also have been a cable that wasn't seated tight enough, too.

  • Motorola S9 HD Audio skipping issue with Iphone

I bought the S9 HD blue tooth head set and it works great inside, but once I go outside the audio cuts in and out constantly, making the headset un useable. I have tried to hold the phone every where by my side, in pocket at my back, and the only place it will maintain the signal is if I hold it on my shoulder. Not exactly comfortable.
I have searched the internet and have found others with this issue, but no good solutions. One suggested turning the GPS off but this did not help.
The issue seems to be specific to the Iphone and not the headset. As I have tried both the S9 and S9 HD on the iphone 3g with the same issue, while both the headsets work perfectly with a blackberry.
I check Motorola's website out no help. I still have another couple weeks to return to the store, but I really want this head set to work. Does anyone have any ideas?

I am having similar issues as well. How disappointing as the s9HD wireless headsets are PERFECT for running...but the skipping is very irritating.

  • Audio skipping issue...

This is an interesting issue as it's intermittent, but annoying...
    Here's what I am doing-
    - Rip a few songs from a CD using iTunes to my local HDD (It automatically appears in my local library)
    - Copy those songs manually (drag & drop) from my local library into the designated playlist on my iTouch.
    - Some songs when played from the iTouch will skip.
I originally thought that the rip was causing the skipping, however if I play the songs from the library (HDD), they are perfect. It seems that the skipping is introduced when copying the tracks to the iTouch.
Has anyone else seen or heard of anything like this?

  • RAM Preview Audio Skipping Issue

    - After Effects Version: 13.2.0.49 (This is the most recent update as I installed it today)
    - OS: Windows 7 Home Premium
    - So, I rendered out a clip from Media Encoder in H.264 format, and imported it back into After Effects and attempted to use RAM playback.  The video plays fine without skipping, but the audio plays back partially, and begins to leave out certain parts.  In other words, the audio says, "I'm going to try to spend more quality time with Luke, last time didn't go too well", After Effects plays back "I'm going to try to spend more - last time."
    - I rendered out a series of clips.  However, only the first two that I rendered in Media Encoder playback the audio in After Effects correctly, the rest all have skipping audio in AE only.  I can play them back in Windows Media Player perfectly.
    - My PC setup is: Intel Quad Core i5, 8 GB RAM, Nvidia GeForce GTX 650 series video card, 1920x1080 monitor, and 1 hard disk.
    - My GPU driver is: GeForce Game Ready Driver (version: 344.65)
    - I render all of the video clips using H.264 format in a .mp4 container.
    - Quicktime version: 7.75.80.95
    - I am only using After Effects for all of the video and audio and Media Encoder to render.
    - No third party effects or codecs.
    - I don't think I am using OpenGL features. (I'm not sure)
    - This, as previously stated happens when I preview the already-rendered clip in the RAM preview, but it also happens when I put the rendered clips together in one video and render them out again.
    - I am not doing any multiprocessing frame rendering.
    - I am not using the ray-traced 3D renderer.
    - If it helps, here's my output settings on Media Encoder:
    Audio settings:
    Video settings:
NOTE: I followed the FAQ guidelines as best as I could.

First, try exporting using one of the presets.
Second, H.264 has highly compressed audio and AE does not like that very much. If you are intending to do more editing on this video clip then you should be exporting a production format not a highly compressed MPEG format. Your audio problems are most likely caused by using some non standard settings somewhere along the way. That's why you should pick a preset and not mess with the audio encoding at all.

  • Overall audio skipping issues

In the last week, I have noticed the volume auto-adjusting itself which sounds like skipping. I can see the volume bar moving itself up and down as though it's being controlled by someone else, and sometimes it won't allow me to adjust it at all. It's not just iTunes, it's the sound to the whole computer in general. It stopped doing this for a few days, but is back to it's old tricks again.
Has anyone else experienced this? It's the most bizarre thing I've seen this computer do yet!

    It's fine again today.
When it was doing that though, I went to the preferences and noticed it switching back and forth in the output from Headphones to Digital Out. I think something is a little off with the headphones outlet other than just a loose connection. There can be nothing plugged in and it still does it. I just don't know why that would make the volume auto-fluctuate itself or become unavailable.
Ah well. I'm happy for now, until it does it again.

  • Video and audio skipping in PowerDVD 8

    Hi,
I have an issue when I try to play DVD's in PowerDVD 8. Exactly every 5 seconds the video and audio skip, or jump/become choppy and I cannot watch a movie. I have been researching and trying to figure out what is happening but have no idea. Could it be the X-fi I have installed the latest beta drivers to no avail.
Anybody have this problem or have any ideas on how to fix it's I have updated all drivers/firmware for everything and still can't make it go, sigh.
    I have the following specs:
    Intel x38BT mobo
    X-Fi Fatalitly champ.
    4GB DDR3 RAM
    9800 GTX
    ASUS 8x dvd-rom
    E8500 CPU
    Win Vista 32-bit
    Thanks

    Try this utility:
    http://www.thesycon.de/eng/latency_check.shtml
    and post results.
Gigabyte Boards at least with x48 chipset have an audio latency bug that is only fixed via a beta bios update. I have no idea if this also might affect your board...

  • Audio skips after rendering

Does anyone know how to correct audio that skips after rendering? The video is fine and the audio matches up to the video but the audio skips as though it is going in and out. The movie is about 2 hours long and the first few clips were fine but now it is becoming a problem. I rendered both the video and audio at the same time then I went back and rendered only.....mixdown to see if I could get it to work......no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Tammy,
If we've dropped a bit of time for this part of the edit, you now have time for more fun aspects of it.
While I will casually monitor my Meters, I spend much more time with a good set of noise-canceling headphones, listening critically. The Meters are basically to point up potential issues. With Audio, if you have not invested in a really good set of headphones, do yourself a big favor, and sneak 'em into the budget.
Glad that you got things toned down.
Now, let's go on to Lesson 02 - The Audio Mixer. Unlike adding Keyframes to a Clip, when your cutting is done, you can apply Track Keyframes to attenuate (also Pan, etc.) you Audio Tracks to suit. One would just change the Send in that Track to Write, or Touch, and "ride the gain" with the slider, as is required. I probably do most of my Audio editing there, than addressing the individual Clips. First thing that I have done is cut back a bit on the frequency of the Track Keyframes in Edit>Preferences, as I find the default to add too many (and you can go in and adjust these by hand, if you need to "smooth" things out a bit.). One caution: do this when you are satisfied with the cuts, Clip placement, etc., as these Keyframes are applied to the Track. If you were to remove a Clip, and replace it, those Keyframes would apply to that new Clip, whether you want them to, or not. This trips some folk up, if they do the Audio Mixer thing too soon in the editing. Wait until you are "in love" with your Timeline otherwise. It's like scoring a Project. One does that as about the very last step, or much work will be repeated, and that is not fun.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • ATV2 Video pixelated and audio skipping

I don't think this is the same as the flickering issue or the frame dropping issue discussed by others. Thus, the new thread.
When streaming videos (movies or TV shows) from itunes to the ATV2 the picture will get pixelated with the missing portions turning green. The video will continue but the audio skips (exactly like a needle on a record player skipping back). If I exit the video to the menu then resume, the video plays fine for awhile until the problem arises again. To give you an example of the frequency, it happened about a dozen times during one 40 minute episode.
All software is updated to the latest versions and all hardware has been restarted. Content is encoded using handbrake using the ATV2 preset and then passed through MetaX for tags. The setup is as follows: stored on DROBO->firewire->iMac->802.11n(5Ghz)->Airport Extreme->ethernet->ATV2.
    Anyone else having this problem?
    Thanks!

Haven't been able to see a pattern yet. I can watch a recently encoded movie (1-2hrs) without it happening once, but like I mentioned, it happened 12 times during a single 40 minute tv show. Both were encoded using same version of handbrake and ATV2 preset.
How do these two files compare in terms of total average data rate?

  • Audio skips when streaming from the internet (pandora/grooveshark).

I'm using airport extreme, wired connection, to a macbook pro (2011) and mac pro (2009). audio skips on both devices when streaming from pandora or grooveshark. problem has persisted through system upgrades, clean installs etc... Problem persists through different web browsers (Firefox/chrome/safari)
Ironicaly, Itunes radio does not skip, neither does netflix.
I have seen COUNTLESS posts regarding this problem from many different APPLE users. I would love to see apple address this problem...

Your first step is to determine if there is an issue with this specific movie or if it's a universal problem.  Does ANYTHING from the MBP provide both sound and video?
Another thought is DRM coding but that should affect both video and audio.  If the movie has DRM coding and your television does not, then the movie won't play.  I'm not an expert but I don't think that that's your problem because you do get the video.

  • Audio skips back few seconds while video freezes

    Hi,
We are running FMS 4.0 to stream on-demand MBR videos using the OSMF player. We have noticed that occasionally during playback the video freezes, while the audio skips back a few seconds and starts playing. Once the audio catches up, the video unfreezes and resumes normal playback.
Any ideas on what might be causing this and how to debug?
    Thanks.

I looked at the logs and it does look like there was switching going on when this issue occured.
Could you expand a bit more on what you mean by "switching issue" and "exact same timelines" ?
Also, how could I go about verifying that the different bitrate streams have the same "timelines"?
    Thanks,

  • Video pauses and audio skips

While watching any video in iTunes, the video will freeze and the audio will skip rapidly like a broken record for 5-10 seconds, the video will then speed forward and finally resume at normal speed but with the audio out of sync. Sometimes this happens only once, but it usually occurs a few times in one viewing. The audio will sync back up witht the video if I manually skip forward or backwards, but it's ridiculously annoying and I shouldn't have to put up with this since I have to update this stupid program five times a month. When the audio skips, it does something like this: if the character is saying "attack", the audio will skip and all I'll hear is "attaattaattaattaattaattaattaattaattaattaattaattaatta". Does that make sense? I hope so. Thanks for anyone's input.

  • Audio Quality issues in You Tube

    Hi Guys
I am really struggling to work out how to submit my music video to 'You Tube' without severe degradation of audio quality.
    V. Happy with the vid. side - H.264 output with optimised parameters on all fronts (debatable I know - but I guess I'm aware of those parameters)
Trouble is the whole point is the music - which just loses it.
The export from origin added to project in Premiere is 24bit, 96khz sample rate - mastered to optimised preference and sounds pretty cool in direct
comparison to random productions from other sources.
(ie: your favourite band music through stereo system (decent speaker output) via CD Rom)
Have attempted all available audio parameters within CS6 to no avail.
Whatever I do - the audio sounds the same ie: diminished
I know 'You Tube' compresses again but how can I avoid this? - Would love to hear from anyone who has had, is having the same issues!!
Suspect that this requires some kind of server side 'pay for' service, I just can't identify where.(or that my master is crap)
    Kind Regards

You won't even get CD quality sound out of YouTube, let alone anything approaching 24/96 quality.  I think you're only avenue for delivering that is DVD-Audio, which never really took off.

  • Audio Sync issues Premiere CC and AJA T-AP

I need to get the audio sync issues resolved in Premiere. Using CC with an AJA T-tap. I downloaded and installed latest firmware and drivers, and plug-ins. Audio is playing back through Mac Pro line output. When the T-tap is turned off the audio plays in sync with the video on the computer screen. When I turn on T-tap and give it a 200 ms offset, it plays back in sync with my external monitor, but the computer screen is out of sync. If I skip around in the sequence quickly and press the playback, sometimes the monitor is out of sync. I need my audio and video to be in sync on all screens all the time. How do I resolve this issue?
    Thanks, Scott

    Hi team!
    cc: petergaraway
Wondering if anyone has any updates on the Premiere CC v AJA T-Tap situation?
I just bought an AJA to go with our new trash can iMac, which has been beasted out so it shouldn't have any performance issues. I have two thunderbolt displays for the edit and a Samsung LED TV on the wall for client monitoring. There is a 10m HDMI cable running to get to the TV, through walls and ceiling, which I just replaced to a cable with a booster in the middle because I thought that distance might be the first cause of the lag.
I guesstimate we are anywhere between 6-12 frames out at times. Also, the vision seems to be buffering, and thus at times jolts on the screen as it tries to catch up (or back) to the audio.
Audio is coming out through the Headphones jack on the mac to a small Behringer mixer, where I have monitor speakers for the edit and then wall speakers for the client. So I have been keeping the Audio output to the Adobe Desktop Audio. If I select AJA T-Tap it sends the audio straight to the TV, even despite going back into the system settings.
In Preferences > Playback, the AJA settings are to Match Sequence and Minimum Buffer. Playing with the m/s frame offsets doesn't seem to make any progress on the issue. And infact if I push it to 500m/s it only worsens the buffering problem I described above.
I went into the AJA control panel and have made sure everything is set to 1080p25 as our timelines will invariably always be 25fps (Australia).
But right now I am pretty stuck, and think our slight sync issue was better before I introduced the AJA T-Tap to our system, when we ran the HDMI straight out of the back of the Mac. Only problem now is I put the HDMI back there and I don't get a signal to the tv!
Would love any other thoughts or suggestions here.
    Mike.

  • Audio Skipping in iTunes

I have been experiencing this problem for quite some time now. When I listen to music files either purchased from iTunes or directly uploaded from a CD onto iTunes, the audio skips. It is as if a second has been taken out of the song -- for instance, a song may jump from 22 to 24 seconds. It is never in the same place, and the number of times it happens per song varies.
This problem does not occur with files downloaded from other sources and played on iTunes. It only happens with the ones that are encoded by iTunes as AAC audio files.
Does anyone know if there is some type of troubleshooting I can perform to see if my computer is having a problem playing AAC audio files?? I am extremely perplexed by this, and no one has been able to help me thus far. Please someone help!

    Hi,
I have a similar problem with music files 'stuttering' or 'jittering' and it's particularly noticeable during quieter tracks. Almost sounds like crackles or pops in the background.
The interesting thing is that I played the same problematic files on the same machine using Windows Media Player and they were rock steady perfect!? Suggests to me an issue with the iTunes software. I was similarly tempted to reinstall iTunes and the audio drivers, but I see this didn't help another friend here with the same problem.
Th eproblem has come about since I transferred all music to my new computer running Windows 7 64 bit and wonder if there is an issue with the latest iTunes 64 bit version software??
    Any thoughts/advice please? Regards.
