Audio Track Longer Than Video

I exported an AIFF (from FCP) to Audacity and made some minor tweaks (removed a scratch and applied fades) - imported it back into FCP to ensure there was no length-difference between the AV.
Using the AIFF or AC3 (from Compressor), the audio ends up longer than the video in DVD Studio Pro.
I've seen reports of Compressor getting the blame, but it must be something else if it's happening to the AIFF too.
Any ideas please? I'm using Final Cut Studio 4.

DVDSP doesn't correct it - the issue is more of a visual problem with the timeline than an actual 'gap' as such. However, it is very important to check it thoroughly!
I have had plenty of issues where the graphics line up perfectly but the audio is out of sync - zooming in on the timeline shows small differences in the lengths, but correcting it means making larger changes... and also situations where there are obvious differences on the timeline, but zooming in and simply moving the bars to either one end or the other of the video clip results in perfect sync.
The purist's approach would be to re-encode. It isn't always necessary, but be very careful... check, check and check it again.

How do I seperate the audio track from the video and save it to a CD in Premiere Elements 13?

    Binbashi
You can separate the audio track from video and save it to a DVD disc within Premiere Elements but not a CD disc.
To do save to the audio to DVD disc, you do not have to separate linked audio video, just use the export Publish+Share/Computer/Audio and set Presets to the wanted format (AAC, AIFF, MP3, or Windows Waveform (WAV).
You will not see Audio in the choices since it is at the bottom of the list of choices under Publish+Share/Computer/. You will need to use the thin scroll bar to the right of the choices to scroll to it.
If you need information on selective export of Timeline content when dealing with more than just this one file on the Timeline, please let us know. If you are trying to produce a CD for listening in car or CD player elsewhere, please let us know.
Looking forward to learning of your results.
    Thank you.

  • Audio is 1 frame longer than video after encode

My .ac3 files are coming up 1 frame longer than they should be on SOME encodes. Unfortunately, I can't see any noticeable pattern to which files it happens to. It occurs on anything from audio-only files created in Soundtrack to an FCP video/audio export. It's happened on both a DV sequence as well as a DVCPRO HD sequence. It's a bit unnerving to see the audio longer than the video, even if it is one frame because the end product is slightly (1 frame, I'd reckon) out of sync. I've tried setting a specific out point in my sequence and got the same effect.
Does anyone have any ideas? Anyone else having their audio come up 1 frame too long on a Dolby encode?
    Thanks,
    Cameron

Anyone else having their audio come up 1 frame too long on a Dolby encode?
    Yes.
The rest is longwinded with no answer to the problem.
    First the system config.
    Dual 1.8 GHz PCI-X G5
    4 GB Ram
Media drive: 800 GB Raid FW 800
(4 discs, 2 on internal bus, 2 on LaCie FW 800 card)
    162 MB/s Read, 91 MB/s Write.
    FCP 5.1.2
    Compressor 2.3
    DVD SP 4.1.1
    I created a 16 minute NTSC DVC PRO50 sequence, audio at 48KHz 16 bit.
Not having a person recorded talking for that length of time I created a series of one frame "pops" of color bars and tone, followed by 10 seconds of video and audio slug.
This sequence was copied and pasted to fill the timeline with a single frame of the "pop" at the very end.
    Everything perfectly in sync.
I nested the sequence and rendered.
No matter how the 16 minute timeline was exported and compressed to MPEG-2, 7 Mb/s and Dolby 2.0 192 Kb/s.
(direct export to Compressor, export of audio and video separately or sequence export, then to Compressor)
there was always an audio sync error once imported to the DVD SP timeline.
Not an entire frame out, but on zooming to max in the timeline in SP, about 7/8 of a frame extra.
If I exported just the last 1:21 min of the NTSC DVC PRO50 timeline, and compressed with the same settings, the extra audio length was about 3/4 of a frame over.
Next I exported the NTSC DVC PRO50 timeline as a DVCPRO HD100 1080 60i QT sequence.
Cut the last 1:21 min and imported to Compressor.
    Compressed as 19 MB/s MPEG-2 and Dolby 2.0 192 Kb/s.
Created a new DVD SP HD project and brought the files into the timeline.
Zoomed in at the end, and the error in sync was minimal, not perfect, but difficult to make out even at full zoom.
Anyone have any suggestions to get things, at least Standard Definition, perfectly in sync?

  • Recording through the Mac Audio Tracks rather than through the Mic.

I figured this would be very handy since I'm just recording the sound from a YouTube video, I don't want to have to use the mic to record the sound, If it's possible to save the Mac Audio Tracks, which is basically anything that comes out of the speaker, to a file to be used by Garageband later? Or is there a way to record, not through the mic, but using the Mac Audio Track through Garageband? It would help because I realized when I recorded through the mic that I had to worry about everyone around me being quite for a few seconds only to realize that the fan was running full boar which made the quality terrible. Just looking for an alternative. Maybe a program that records the Mac Audio Tracks? Sorry for the long-winded post.

I know a way around this as I had the same problem once. I bought a small lead with stereo mini jack to stereo mini jack which enabled me to connect the headphones socket to the line/mic in socket. This means that any sound your computer makes can be recorded directly using any recording application, including Garageband. No fear of extraneous noise as it is a direct connection not microphone. There may well be a purely 'software' method also but I can confirm that this does work anyway.

  • Why would an audio track cause a video glitch?

I have a 1080 60p clip with no audio.  If I create a sequence based on that clip, add a wav file to an audio track, then export using the H.264 60p custom preset with audio multiplexing to an .m2t everything looks fine.    However, if I export using the H.264 Blu-ray preset, 720p, 59.94, multiplexed, to an .m2t file the video has some stutters towards the end.   If I remove the audio track and do the same export, still muxed, the video is fine in 720p.   I get the same result if I start with a 720p sequence (i.e. addition of audio causes video glitch).
Edit: tried a different audio file, this time .mp3, same problem.
Edit: importing the muxed 60p export with audio, then exporting as noted in 720p has the same issue.
Comments?   Let me know if what I'm describing isn't clear.

Hi Jim - understood in an ideal world one would have source video footage, sequence, and output target all the same.  Is it not common though for folks to have situations where there is more than one target output?
Anyway, I think I have a tree covering both roads if I understand your analogy.  What is wrong with the following picture?  I took the original 1080 60p clip, dragged it into a 720p 59.94 sequence, exported the video only.  The exported video looks just fine in this case.  I even tried different formats (Matrox MPEG I-Frame HD, H.264 Blu-ray muxed and not).  It is all good.
Next I imported the aformentioned no issue video that is in 720 59.94 into a sequence that matches then exported to a matching format.   No issue with the resultant video.   Is this scenario not what you mentioned?   Start with video that matches the sequence and target output?
However, if I add an audio track, the video has some flashing/stuttering at the end particularly towards the top.   Why would exporting with or without an audio track in the above scenario make a difference?
In case it matters, the video came from a modified After Effects template.  I don't own AE and paid another guy to modify the template.  I will go back and ask him to render in 720p 59.94.  Still, the above just doesn't seem right.

  • 2 Audio tracks on one video?

    Hello,
I have two videos that are the close to the same...and are pretty close in length.
One of the AUDIOS i want to use for practice and the other for the Actual process.
So what i would like to do is set it up so either video can have BOTH audios.
People will be watching them many times so to keep them from getting board
with having one audio for one video. I want them to be able to change the audio.
So when watching one of the videos for a week with the practice audio
the can then watch the video next week with the Actual process
and visa versa for the other video.
I know there is a way to add subtitles or a different language to a video.
But these will be only 2 videos of 7 total in the DVD.
Is there a way to do this? if so could someone please explain or direct me to a video or tutorial
on how i might do this?
    Thanks so Much!
    Soshman

    Here's one way:
The 5 videos with one audio will just be regular timelines. Lets call the two other videos with the 2 audios V1 and V2. And the two audios A1 and A2.
So you want one timeline with V1, and in Audio track 1 you will have A1, and in Audio track 2 you will haveA2. In another timeline with V2, you will have in Audio track 1 A2, and in Audio track 2 you will have A1.
You will have a menu that will select the audio track. See help:

  • Any way to add and scale audio tracks to source video?

Got audio tracks timed at 25 fps that I'm trying to conform to 23.98 video source.  In QT, I could add to selection and scale, but need a little more precision so trying to do this in FCP.  Doesn't seem to be a way outside of exporting to Motion, which is pretty ardous.  I've tried playing with audio speed (changed speed percentage while scaling attributes), and it kind of works but isn't consistent across the entire video.  Is there a better way to do this in FCP?

You can conform the video material to 25fps using cinematools.
You can also adjust the duration of audio in soundtrack pro without effecting pitch.  Hope one of these helps.

  • Missing audio track when importing video into Premiere Pro CS3

When I import my M2TS video into the editor there is no audio when viewed in the source.  There is also no audio track when I drag a clip down to the timeline.  Any fix for this?

I have the same problem with M2TS files in Adobe Premiere Pro CS4. The audio track is there - Adobe Premiere just doesn't recognize it. If you open the same clip in Nero Showtime, Corel Ulead VideoStudio, etc., the audio will be there. The audio is probably multiplexed.
I have been recording High Definition TV using the Hauppauge HD PVR 1212. About 15-20 % of the M2TS files recorded will be seen as video only clips by Adobe Premiere. The remaining clips will be conformed by Premiere and you will have a Dolby Digital 5.1 audio track. If you convert the video only clips to .MP4 and then re-import them into Premiere you will then have the Dolby Digital 5.1 audio track back and you're good to go.
I use either Xilisoft or Arcsoft media converters to change to .MP4 files. If you use Arcsoft you will have to render the clip. The files converted by Xilisoft don't have to be rendered for playback.

  • Restoring stereo audio track link to video track as source/destination

I've read everything I can find relevant in discussions & manuals but can't figure out how to get my two audio tracks (stereo) linked back to video track as destinations, as they once were, with video and audio source/destination tabs joined. In the patch panel (when I started this morning) I noticed that only A1 destination button had an a1 source. There was no a2 Source button to join to A2 Destination.
In my groping around I managed to also make the a1 source button dissapear as well. Link and Stereo Pair are checked in the Modify menu. Linked Selection button is on in Timeline.
What the heck am I doing wrong here and how do I get those Source buttons to reappear? Thanks for whatever advice you guys can give.
    - Frazzled Idiot

"how do I get those Source buttons to reappear?"
The vn and an source tabs appear and disappear in the timeline depending on the clip in the viewer: if it is only video, there is only v1, if it is only stereo audio you have a1 and a2, if you have a standard clip audio + video you have v1, a1 and a2, and so on. Just depends on the clip in the viewer.
If you had only a1 source, it means that you probably had your clip unlinked, your stereo pair unlinked and you loaded only one of the 2 stereo tracks to the viewer. If you want to edit them back together select the video and 2 audio tracks in the timeline and cmd-L (link video to audio) and opt-L (link stereo pair).
After that when you load the clip in the viewer you'l have again v1, a1 and a2 source buttons ready to use.

  • Interlacing an audio track with a video track

    hey all...
wodnering how i would go about
    interlacing an audio track
over like a 4 minute video track.
i've tried copy the audio in another QT window and pasting it in the video window, but it always ends up the video track without audio for 0 to 4 minutes, then the video is over a plain white visual with the audio playing for minutes 5 to 9.
wondering how to make each line up with teach other
so the audio runs along with the audio
    thanks all
    dave

Open the video document, select all, then use Copy. Now open the audio document, select all and use "Add to Selection and Scale." The video track will be added as a new track in the audio document and its duration will be scaled to match the audio duration. Scaling the video instead of the audio is easier for QT to carry out and will not leave problems like the altered pitch you would get if you scaled the audio.

  • Can I open a second Source Monitor for the audio track of a video?

I really dislike having to switch to the audio waveform in the Source Monitor pane when I want to tinker with a clip's audio track. I usually try to stay away from needing to use a panes drop down menu as much as possible. Is there a way to get this in a different window?
    Using CS6

You cant tinker with the audio track in the Source Monitor. Apart from IN and Out Point setting.
Normally one would expand the audio track in the time line...zoom in/out to suit and maybe use the tilde shortcut  key to view it all full screen.

  • How to select different audio track on ipad video

I have quite a few movies that I'm planning to convert them into mp4 format and download them to my ipad 2.

  • No plug-ins for audio tracks other than 1-4

I have a problem. I am wanting to record mulitple audio tracks and use plug-ins, this is fine for tracks 1-4, however any other audio tracks don't have the 'R' button in between the solo and mute buttons and the channel strip panel on the left hand side has no inserts, sends I/O button or anything!
I called the logic helpline but they were no good at all, if anything they were down right rude towards me so I wouldn't sugegst phoning them any time soon!
Anybody got any suggestions that'd be great as I am currently doing my university coursework and this is kinda vital!

Clang - you do come across as rude. If the person
wanted to read the manual - yep you guessed it - they
wouldve already done that. Telling users on here to
RTFM is useless, and is pointless as well. Forums are
all about helping each other, some people just want
to get their answers this way, and there's really
nothing wrong with that. Its the spirit of being
supportive - thats what this place is all about.
Please dont tell anyone else here to RTFM, that
doesnt work at all mate, and comes across as hostile.
I see a pattern evolving from the mist...you are afraid of the letters:
    RTFM!!!
Now,ask yourself, how did your post telling some other guy off about the RTFM,help the OP?? In no way. That's how.I might be rude,I might have a sarastic sense of humour, but I never tell posters to not read the manual. It's there for a reason. Many trees died so that the manual could be there for them.At least respect those poor dead trees.
    (More sense of humour...) :P

  • Audio much shorter than video in timeline

I imported an mpeg clip into my Encore timeline and the audio is way smaller than the video. I definitely know that the audio and video is the same length because I played the clip in windows media player and have imported the same mpeg clip into Premiere and it's clearly got the same length. I've included some screenshots.
And this is the same clip in the Premiere timeline...
This is the audio export setting...
This is the video export settings from Premiere...
    Thank you.

Hi Stan,  Here are two screenshots. One with the clip properties and the other with the meta data from Premiere. I hope this helps.
I tried exporting the clip with mpeg audio and the clip imported fine into Encore, however, the longer video(roughly 1 hour had the audio messed up on it. It was the same length as the video but went blank 10 minutes into the ending. Sound strange?

  • Why does audio run faster than video after burning my iMovie project in iDVD?

I created a project in iMovie HD and shared it to iDVD 6. When I played the finished disc, I noticed that the audio ran much faster than the video. I rechecked my movie and audio clips in iMovie to make sure they were matched correctly, and I saw no problem there. I burned the disc again through iDVD and got the same problem when I played it in a DVD player.
I have never had this problem before and I've been working on dvd projects all week. I think the only difference with this movie project is that I had movie clip audio and background audio playing at the same time at some parts of the movie, but I don't know if that's the issue.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi
And just to add to OT-s brilliant suggestions - really - Do a Save as a DiskImage ! IMPORTANT !
    • When free space goes down on the Start-Up hard disk to 5Gb or less - strange things occurs - Yes even audio out of sync - to not working DVD at all.
I secure a minimum of 25Gb free space when using SD-video to iDVD - if HD material I would guess 4-5 times more as it has to be re-calculated into SD and this needs space.
DVD - is as standard SD-Video (as old time CRT-TVs) - even if You use DVD-Studio Pro or iDVD or Roxio Toast™ - That's what it is and using HD material doesn't improve a bit (may be even give a lesser result)
