Audio & Video fall out of synch (movies, television, video podcasts) on  iTunes 10.4

I have twice downloaded and installed the 64bit version of iTunes 10.4 running on the latest version of Windows 7. Whenever I play a video podcast, movie, or television show using iTunes, the voice and video get completely out of synchronization. One seems to fall behind the other and they never resynchronize. To check to see if I have file damage, I have played the same media using Quicktime and the problem does not occur. The problems seem completely localized to iTunes. Anyone else experiencing this problem?

I have the same problem and there does not appear to be a fix.
I am done with iTunes!!!
I have a lot of money invested in content and I can't play it - drives me crazy!
I am converting everyrthing to DRM free!

I too have the same problem.  The audio drop out of sync in about 5 sec in not uncommon for the audio to be 30+ sec behind video.  Apple needs to fix this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   its a joke,  my iphone is all messed up after the last update as well.  at one time not to long ago apple products and software were top rated, not so much any more, more and more problems are showing up and apple is unwilling or unalbe to fix the many issues.  Apple needs to fix the audio sync problem, it not the computer hardware or other software it ITUNES!!!!,  there is no workaround other then hitting pause and hitting pause and hitting pause to temp fix the problem.

  • Video Falling Out of Synch During Import?

I am importing some video w/ linked audio into iMOvie--the tape appears to be fine, the audio is in synch with the video there. When I complete the import and then play the clip, the video does not appear for a few seconds, but the audio is present. So by the time the video does appear, it is horribly out of synch. How do I fix this? What could cause this to happen in the first place?

    Hi
Most common origin to this is.
    • Camera set on 12-bit audio
    • Camera re-set after battery change (to 12-bit audio)
Go into the menu on/of the Camera and select 16-bit audio
    • Camera recorded in LP-mode (90 min on a 60min tape) - AVOID THIS - A real trouble maker ! ! !
Set Camera into SP-mode (60 min on a 60min tape)
    Your old movie
Set iMovie to import as one large clip - Not as individual clips (in iMovie pref)
    • Now import Your material to TimeLine
    • DIRECTLY after this select the video-clip
    • goto Advanced menu and down to Extract audio
This might work and keep in sync.

  • Why do my audio and video get out of synch?

No matter what sort of video I'm trying to play: Youtube, a movie on DVD, a movie on an external hard drive, etc, after a short time the audio and video get out of synch with each other.  This is often, though not always, signaled by a short audio phrase being repeated (eg: "I don't know, Scully, how about you? about you?").  I can solve the problem by quitting the app and starting it back up but it will eventually screw up again.
I'm using a MacBook running OS 10.6.8 with a 2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 memory.

The first thing that we need to know are the properties of what you are putting on the Timeline. What works in another software does not necessarily work in Premiere Elements. Each program has its own supported formats.
    a. What is the file extension for this file? .MOV or .MP4?
    b. Does the iPad describe it as 1080p or 720p?
    c. If you open Premiere Elements 12 and go to Edit Menu/Project Settings/General, what do you see for Editing Mode, Timebase, Frame Size, and Pixel Aspect Ratio, even if those field appear to be grayed out.
Two immediate troubleshooting avenues are going to be in the direction of...
    a. Project settings not set up to match the properties of the source from the iPad. Then we would start a new project and set the project setting manually before importing your video. Details for manually setting the project preset are in the following.
ATR Premiere Elements Troubleshooting: PE11: Accuracy of Automatic Project Preset (New Project Dialog) Setting
    b. The iPad video being recorded with a variable frame rate instead of a constant one...the remedy then would probably be to take your video in a program like HandBrake to change the variable to a constant frame rate. And after that, import the corrected video into the Premiere Elements project which has the correct project preset (preferably set manual to assure the correct result).
Please see what you can put together in the way of video details, and we will sort this out.
    Thanks.

  • Importing 24p audio falls out of synch

    Hello,
I was just capturing two tapes of a musc video, using a panasonic GS500 to import, shot in 24p on a DVX100, and captured on the standard DV NTSC 48 kHz preset. When I watched my clips afterwards, I found that the audio falls out of synch in the longer clips. I don't understand why this has happened, because I thought the 24p was still recorded on the tape as DV NTSC but with a 3:2 pulldown effect on it. My question is how can I fix this importing problem so it doesn't fall out of synch again when I re-import?
    Thank You,
    Kyle

This can happen with long captures. Better Camera/deck seems to be key here.
For now, you could select the clips that drift and do a 'File'/Export as AIFF...48khz/16bit. Then re-link/replace the new audio with the original video files.
Recapturing in shorter clip length may avoid funky Aud Rates. Either way, you'll likely need to create new multi-clips and edit with those.
Within current multi-clip sequences, you can control-shift/drag left or right on an angle in the viewer to bring the sync back in line. This should only affect the angle/clip following a cut, and not the sync prior to a cut.
If you've already made many cuts througout the timeline, you could use the 'slip' tool on out of sync clips after you've collapsed the multiclip.
    Hope that helps,
    Kevan

  • Audio / video fall out of sync

I'm working on an interview project which needs better audio than my built-in camera mic provides.
So, I recorded my audio separately during the shoot using Logic. I bounced an AIFF (48KHz - to match the video), and I thought it would line up perfectly with my video file in Final Cut Express.
I lined up the beginning - perfect sync. However, several minutes into the clip, the audio and video start falling out of sync - more and more as it moves down the timeline.
Does anyone know a possible solution for this problem? I searched, but I think I'm asking the wrong questions.
    Thanks!

Make sure the sequence settings match the media. If that's not the problem, it sometimes works to modify the speed of either the audio or video if you can figure out by what percentage they're out of sync.

  • Clip audio and video playback out of synch

I've noticed that everything in FCP X is slightly out of synch. Just enough to be noticeable. I thought it might have been the time taken for the sound to travel the length of the church (recording from a camera mic) but I shot some green screen yesterday and even that is out.
The same hardware was used ok with FCE-4 - the Audio i/f is FW-400 and on same bus as FW drives.

Hey Andy,  (cue whistling theme music)
Thanks for your informed opinion. Interesting that Apple released FCPX in it's current state rather than wait for the release of Lion. Seems like the core technologies now bundled with the app would make a significant difference running natively.
I'm an audio guy... the next release of Logic Audio is going to be version X, I'm just hoping it's not going to be Garageband Pro.
The reason I was expressing doubts about an OS upgrade making a noticeable difference is.... I heard the same thing about Snow Leopard. As it stands now I have two clients trying to run the latest version of Logic Pro on the current release of SL (10.6.8), the results are not good, the Logic Pro forum has many users unable to get Logic to even boot without crashing.. I'm waiting to hear from support. It seems like the OS is ahead of app development and things are breaking.

  • Why is the audio on my video getting out of sync when it is imported into itunes?

    Hello,
I have videos in the MP4 Format, and have imported them into itunes. However, during playback in itunes, the audio gets more and more out of sync as the video plays. By the end of the film the audio can be 5-6 seconds out!
What's strange is that the source file, played with quicktime or Windows media player, is fine and works perfectly.
Why is the audio stretched once it is imported?
    Thanks,
    James

    I have the same problem.
    Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-MA785GPMT-UD2H
    Chipset:
    North Bridge: AMD 785G
    South Bridge: AMD SB710
Video: Integrated ATI Radeon HD 4200
HDMI Audio through the HDMI port out to the TV.
Tried on Windows 7 Pro 32bit and Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit.
Tried with the integrated ALC889A audio device enabled and disabled (It seems that the video card drives the HDMI audio device though, because it still appears in Windows even if I disable the Audio device in BIOS).
    Latest iTunes and drivers installed.
I have already tried all sugestions about matching Windows Audio settings to iTunes settings (bit depth, frequency rate).
Apple, any suggestions? I'm not having a great customer experience after buying a pair of HD movies in iTunes.

  • Audio several seconds out of sync with live video stream.

I did a live stream last week using 282,482,832,1500Kbps streams. What would cause the audio to get out of sync with the live video stream? I'm trying to determine if it was  bandwidth related, cpu/memory issue on the FMIS 4.5 server, or an issue with encoding PC exceeding it's limits?
    Thanks,
    Dave

Which device are you using? Are audio and video coming from the same device or different devices?
Is it a USB device? Try changing the device and see if there is any difference. Changing bitrates will not affect audio-video sync.

  • ISight & Audio out of Synch?

I regularly record videos for YouTube and I recently got a brand new Macbook Pro 15" to replace my 2nd Generation one. I never had a problem on that. However now, I've filmed two videos on this laptop using the iSight and internal mic, and both times, the audio has been out of synch with the video. It's almost like the audio has been stretched and is longer than the video. Because I tried moving the audio around in FCP, and it would always fall out of synch a few seconds later. Has anyone ever heard of this?
PS - This time I filmed into iMovie. The first time I filmed into the YouTube 'record' function on the website.
    Please help!

    (1) Well known issue when using FCP/E to edit QT capture/import files. As I understand it, the problem is related to differences between the recorded QuickTime file formats and your FCP workflow settings. This is not really a problem with your built-in iSight, which has no sound recording of its own.
Although I do not use FCP, conforming your QT import files to your FCP workflow / settings seem to be the answer. See this thread for one example:

A look through the returns from this search should give you more ideas:

    (2) If you need more help, I suggest you post in FCP discussions:
      http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=939
Be sure to include the frame, bit, and sampling rate parameters for the QuickTime file you are importing into FCP when you ask your question. It might also be helpful if you state the parameters you plan to output from FCP in your finished project.

  • Video and audio fall out of sync in Captivate 6

I made a great little video demo in which I added audio while I recorded it in Captivate 6. However when I play it back the audio and video fall out of sync. How can I fix my problem and how can I prevent it from happening again?
    JJ

Douglas, I found that even the SWF files have started to get out of synch as well (although not as badly as the MP4), so with Adobe's blessing, I installed Captivate 7 on my 2009 model MacBook Pro (with Windows 7 running in Bootcamp) and now when I publish both SWF and MP4 projects, they are in perfect synch.
The strange thing is that my MacBook Pro probably has less grunt than my work PC (Dell Lattitude) and I would also have thought that running in a Bootcamp based Windows 7, that would detract even further from Captivate's performance.
I am happy that this solves the synch issue, I am not happy that I must continually move projects between my office PC and my home based MacBook Pro in order to do this and I am still none the wiser as to what is actually causing the problem; although I do wonder whether it is in some way related to the reporting to base issue that was causing Captivate 7 to go into a not responding state every few minutes (that was resolved with a patch provided by Adobe support)..

  • InstantOn DVD - Audio out of Synch with Video

    Hi
I have a MegaPC 865 Pro.  I am having problems with the InstantOn DVD Player.  The Audio is out of synch with the video. (the Audio is slower than the Video).  It happens on both analog and digital spdif out modes.
    CPU: Celeron 2.66
    RAM: 1G
    Optical Drive: LG GSA-4081B
    HDD: 40G Seagate
Audio and Video are the inbuilt ones that came with the MegaPC 865.
In Windows XP Media centre, it works fine (the audio/video synch works fine, the 5.1/7.1 audio mix mode has problems, but thats a different topic!!)
Can anyone offer any suggestions??  Thank you.

  • Video out of synch with audio

Sometimes when I use my camera the audio is out of synch with the video.
This has happened when I use the 8mm apps as well.
Is there a way to fix this or make it not happen at all?
    Evan Jacobs

    Sorry that didn't help, Jon.
This kbase search makes me wonder if perhaps you have some kind of conflict with something you are doing in Logic or some other AV Pro App?
If you can rule that out, too, somebody else might have suggestions. It may help them to know if you have exactly the same problem when you try to record movie clips with some other application.
    I have no other ideas.

  • Why is audio out-of-synch with video on VOB files

I used a Pioneer DVR to import ~120 8mm and Hi8mm and Digital8 analog tapes to convert them to DVD's.  These ~120 DVD's are in VOB format.  These are 4:3 video (not HD).  I did test this flow and didn't notice a few of the VOB's did not have the audio tracking properly.
When importing them into Premiere Elements 8.01 some of the VOB files have their audio out of synch with the video, yet, they play okay in the Premiere preview window.
Is there a setting so that when it 'conforms', that it will track the audio correctly?
Do I need to buy a conversion tool to go from VOB to mpeg-2 (or other format?) and then import to Premiere Elements 8?
Is there a better video editing tool to use?
I simply want to take all these 8mm tapes / DVD's to splice the best scenes.
I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit AMD Athlon II X4 630 2.8GHz processor, 4GB of DDR3 memory; and installed an ATI HD-4350 pcie gen2 graphics card. I have a memorex bluray dvd player.
