Unable to connect to Oracle using OS authentication (sqlplus / as sysdba)
Hello,
When I try to connect locally ,using OS authentication ( sqlplus / as sysdba ), on a Oracle database, I get "ORA-01031: insufficient privileges" error.
OS: Windows XP
Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0 - Prod.
connecting as sysdba using sys/pasword works.
I have setup :
-> Log on as a batch job
-> Log on as a service
I am also member of ORA_DBA group.
I mention that connecting "/ as sysdba" worked many months after I've installed the Oracle database. But at some moment in time connecting "/ as sysdba" was no longer possible.
C:\>sqlplus / as sysdba
SQL*Plus: Release 10.1.0.3.0 - Production on Wed May 23 11:08:52 2007

ERROR:
ORA-01031: insufficient privileges.
Thank you for any suggestion.Hi,
I have the same issues from the beginning..
I have two Oracle homes ( One for earlier installed SOA10g, and another for current installing SOA11g).
I have the right sqlora.net file. I have removed the old path and reset to point the new oracle home. I have this home entry as the first entry in my Universal installer too.
I AM ABLE TO CONNECT WITH sys USER AS SYSDBA on THE SAME SYSTEM ( I MEAN WHERE i INSTALLED THE DATABASE) USING THE command prompt.
But I am not able to connect as the SYSDBA with sys ACCOUNT through the SQLDeveloper tool. or RCU tool? Any help please. Again I am able to connect as a normal user through the SQL developer using the SYSTEM account.

Remote system Producing Errors "In sufficient Privileges" while running scr
Hi
I have Machine with Oracle 10g 64bit(software only) on windows 2003 server and that machine located at Remotely(UK)
In fact i d'not know who installed the Oracle on that machine,
To access that mechine they given user/password to me
Now I have to run a script from here(script will create INSTANCE,OFA,DATABASE,changing SYS SYSTEM password, and final it create USER for that DATABSE which is created by script)
here problem is script able to Create INSTANCE,OFA but it unable to create DATABASE in this part it is giving Error saying that
"In sufficient Privileges"
I tried with Command prompt like
setted Oracle_sid,Oracle_home
1.C:>sqlplus sys/change_on_install as sysdba
or
2.C:>sqlplus system/manager
3.SQL>startup nomount pfile='<pfilepath>"
In above 3 cases it is giving same error “ In sufficient Privileges"
1.What may be that reason it is producing errorsTry adding the windows user you're logging in with to the windows machine to the Administrators group. Also check the persmissions of the pfile and subdirectories.

Hi All,
I am not able to connect with sysdba privileges through the sql*plus on the remote machine running on Windows. It gives me the following error :

My OS : Solaris 64 bit (database running on Solaris machin)
Database : 10.2.0.2
Any idea, what's missing ?Yogesh,
Did you try adding a new password file? In your pfile location, try this --
1) Remove the existing password (orapw<SID>) file
2) Generate a new password file - orapwd file=orapw<SID> password=<SYS_passwd>
Try reconnecting thru the SQL*Plus client.

Following is list of users that i see from weblogic console for OBIEE.
User | Group
weblogic | Administrator
BISystemUser| Administrators
OracleSystemUser| OracleSystemGroup
2.
From Portal environment, i have added "sawjsr168portlets.war" as shared library.
Changed portlet.xml and web.xml with following.
-changes in portlet.xml
1. oracle.bi.presentation.sawserver.URL
http://localhost:9704/analytics/saw.dll
2. oracle.bi.presentation.portlets.jsr168.reportui.AdminUserName
weblogic
3. oracle.bi.presentation.portlets.jsr168.reportui.AdminPwd

Kindly let me know your thoughts on following.
1. Am i missing any steps?
2. Is it possible that Portal 10.3 and OBIEE 11g is not compatible?
3. Admin Username and password that i specified in Report UI portlet's preferences, is it wrong user (or user from wrong group maybe)? Do i need to specify user who is from another group?
4. I changed "SAWServer" url and port in web.xml. Is that okay?
5. Is there any way, i can get more detailed information from OBIEE Server by enabling certain kind of debug?
Let me know if any input is needed from my side. Any input is highly appreciated.
ThanksHi Now I am facing bellow error.
Can anybody suggest me what to do?

Authentication error with sudo
Hi there. I just tried using Carbon Copy Cloner (2.3) to clone my HD before updating to OS 10.4.9. I got this error: authentication error: sudo: /private/etc/sudoers is zero length
I booted to my old cloned drive and repaired permissions and the hard drive with my system on it. I also created a new user with admin privileges and tried it, and got the same error. I don't think it's a CCC-specific error because I got the same error when I tried to use Preferential Treatment to check for corrupt preferences.
Can anyone tell me how I might go about fixing this? I'm a longtime Mac user but don't know too much about Terminal and its uses. Help?
G5 dual 2.0 Mac OS X (10.4.7) 2.5G RAM, Radeon X800 XT video cardThank you for looking, but I solved the problem by copying the sudoers file from my cloned drive back to my main drive. It was invisible, but File Buddy solved that problem.

Authentication Error when I execute JOBS in OEM registered by OWB !!
Hi !
As I saw in the last question JOBS with
authentication error it's a commum problem ....
So follow I will detail what's happening with me:
I4m using the OWB and I did a map to extract data from two tables
on my source database and populate a destination dimension table, in my destination database.
I deploy this map, it4s sucesfull;
I run the map from OWB and it populates the destination dimension table perfectly;
I saved the TCL file and it4s OK;
I choose "Register in OEM" option and it register sucesfull;
but ... when I open the OEM and run the job from OEM, it fails !
It give this error:
VNI-2015 : Authentication error
Even when I try do it with "sysman" user
Could you help me ?
Thanks,
RenatoHi,
Please check whether you have carried out these steps. Because I had the same problem and I resolved it.
1. I reckon you would have installed OWB and OEM.
2. In OEM if you are using the default SYSMAN user for running jobs, you should create the user SYSMAN in the OWB schema and assign the role SYSDBA, DBA AND OEM_MONITOR.
3. If you created a new user in OEM to run the jobs, you should create the user in OWB schema and assign the roles SYSDBA, DBA & OEM_MONITOR.
4. Then under your Windows NT/2000, create the OEM user and assign the user the rights "Logon as Batch Job to Run" previlege.
5. Configur OEM preferred credintials for NODE, DATABASE with proper values. The NODE user/password must be the one you have created under step 4.
6. Configur OWB with the OEM user. This can be done under Projects/Preferences, selecting OEM tab. The user/password must be thesame as under step 4.
If you do these things, not necessarily in the order mentioned, you should be able to run the jobs.
Best of luck. -
Job rejected with "2015 -Authentication errors"
Environment:
Oracle server : Sun Solaris 2.8, Oracle 8.1.5
OEM/Management server: Windows 2000, Oracle 8.1.6
Agent is running fine on Solaris and pingable from Windows OEM Console.
Preferred confidential setting:
For oracle database: SYS/syspassword, Role: SYSDBA
For SunOS node: Oracle/oracel_account_password
For listener: none
Problem:
Created a job, run task "Run SQL script", got "2015 -Authentication errors" and job failed.
Thanks in advancePreferred confidential setting:
For oracle database: SYS/syspassword, Role: SYSDBA
For SunOS node: Oracle/oracel_account_password
For listener: none
Above is what you listed in your post. Try using your SunOS username and logon instead of the Oracle/oracel_account_password.
Also, on Windows NT, the os user must have the advanced user right "logon to submit batch jobs" or something like that.
Hope this helps What about node password
one think more give right {Batch job create } to nt user -

authentication error appears whenever any job is submitted. i'm using oracle 8.1.7 standard edition. preferred credentials of DB are system/manager, and node credential is NT local user with 'log on as batch job' privilege.
But i find the same problem every time!!!
anybody can help me?
thank you
mariDear Mari,
I don't think that the fact that you are using DHCP is the cause of your predicament since I am using DHCP too with no problems.
What you could do is check the Local Profile configuration of the Net8 Assistant. Ensure that under Oracle Advanced Security, none of the Available Methods inthe Authentication tab (including NTS) are selected. Save the new Net8 configuration and exit.
Once again, I must reiterate that the Windows NT account (having "Log on as a batch job" privilege) you are using to launch Oracle Enterprise Manager must be the same user whose login name and password are stored in the Preferred Credentials for the concerned Node. Submit the job to OEM only after logging in to the operating system (Windows NT) as this user.

New user with sysdba privilege gets connected as user sys
hi ,
I am using oracle 10g R2 . I have a user named test . I have provided sysdba privilege to this user . Now , when I login to this user as conn tkcsowner/password
it gets connected , I created a table in that , the table data is fine . But, when I login as conn tkcsowner/password as sysdba , it connects , if I execute show user it shows "user is sys" , and the table is not here .
My question is ............
1. if I login to tkcsowner as sysdba , where do I login actually , to sys account or to tkcsowner ?
2. I want to execute some stored procedures through tkcsowner , which requires sysdba privilege . But , how can I can execute those from tkcsowner , but not from sys ?
Any additional info on this would be appreciated . thank you.My question is ............
1. if I login to tkcsowner as sysdba , where do I login actually , to sys account or to tkcsowner ?Yes, teh correct behavior. If you would use the o/s authentication, you would be connected as Sys user since Oralce would bypass the supplied username and password of yours over the prompt.
2. I want to execute some stored procedures through tkcsowner , which requires sysdba privilege . But , how can I can execute those from tkcsowner , but not from sys ?When you are going to connect with Sysdba role, you would be connected as Sys user. I am not sure what you exactly mean by saying that the procedure requires the Sysdba privilege? Procedure doesn't need any Sysdba privilege( there isn't such thing since its a role not a privilege) but the provilege of Execute on that procedure . So you do want to check it out what you are actually looking for and why?

VNI_2015:authentication error,??????
I try to import a dump file(oracle 8) to Oracle 8i, it always comes up a error message:VNI_2015:authentication error.
Anyone know why?
Thanks
my email: [email protected]
nullOk, I just went through the same thing. I would much rather be doing this in Unix, but...
My problem was that the WIN2000 User needed to have the logon as batch privilege assigned to
it. To do that in WIN2000, you go to
Administrative Tools => Local Security Settings => Local Policies folder => User Rights Assignments
Go to the Log on as a batch job security policy and then add your user to it.
Once I did that, my VNI-2015 errors went away. Then I got to move on to the next set of errors, but
that is another story.
Good Luck

How to fix authentic error in game centre of iPad mini?
How to fix authentic error in game centre of iPad mini?
Following further research, this keyboard lag issue appears to be related to the (botched) iOS 7.1 update. It's good to know I am not the only user who had his iPad mini rendered unusuable by the iOS 7.1 update, however that does not solve my problem.
Anyone out there who has further suggestions (except doing a factory reset via iTunes)? -
Remote Desktop Connection - Authentication error
Hello,
I wish to connect to my work PC from my laptop. The remote desktop connection was working fine till yesterday, but today i receive the following error when i try to connect -
"An authentication error has occurred. The Local Security Authority cannot be contacted. Remote Computer: <name>."
I have Win 7 ultimate installed on my 32 bit system, and have tried solutions proposed in the other threads. I do not require a NLA check for connection, i have always used the remote desktop with this option unchecked. Could anyone help me with this please?
Is this a error on my Laptop, or do i need to contact the network administrators for this?Hi!
It could be as easy as you need to change your password on your domain accout.
Are both computers connected to the same domian or is your work computer connected to a domain and your laptop connected to a workgroup?
If your password has expired, this error can occur, so I would start to check that since it stoped working over night.

Query: Authentication Error while consuming a web service
Hi All,
I've generted a WSDL file by using the following steps.
1.Created a RFC enabled ABAP pgm
2.Created a web service out of it (using webservice creation wizard - default virtual host. so my port is 8100)3.Released the web service (WSCONFIG)
4.Generated the WSDL file (WSADMIN + CTRL F1).
Then I wanted to consume it from a .Net program. But am getting authentication error in .Net.
Do I need to configure anything for Authentication (username and password) from R/3 side?..
How Do I pass the credential info from .Net?.
Should I take care of any setup other than what I've specified?.
Any Blogs or response would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Joe.Usually like this:
WSReference1.WSPProxy proxy = new WSReference1.WSPProxy();
