Authorization window behind the running application

Hello.
My problem is that when launching my application with javawebstart,
it happens that the authorization window appears first, then my application appears then, and hide the authorization window.
The consequence of this is that the application is blocked until authorization has been completed. Unfortunately, the auth window is hidden behind the application and you have to use ctrl-tab to search for it.
If someone has found a solution, I'll be glad to hear from it.

Are you seeing this in 1.4.2_06 or 1.5.0 , or in some earlier version of Java Web Start ? There were similar plroblems with the shortcut dialog in early 1.4.2 versions, but they should all be fixed.
Is this "Authorization" window the TrustDeciderDialog shown for signed code ?
if so can you foward you jnlp file(s) ?

I've done significant testing, and have been able to determine that the local administrator account is able to configure backups before the computer is joined to the domain. Once the computer is joined to the domain, the local administrator account
and domain users who are in the local administrators group are no longer able to configure backup and restore. Domain administrators are able to configure backups.
This is a new issue, which began occuring sometime in the last 2 months. 3 months ago, users were able to configure backups without issue, and those computers with backups configured are still able to run their backups and do restores; however the
settings can no longer be changed.
Clearly something in the domain is doing this, but Group Policy has not been altered, and I can find no setting that would be doing this in any case. Any help is appreciated.

So you mean you have tried different accounts in the local Administrator group and all of them failed?
If so, please check what group the local Administrator group belongs to? Does it belong to a group with limited privileges, such as the Guests group?

How to blur the background behind the AIR application?

Dear fellow developers and Adobe gurus,
With the BlurFilter, I can easily blur everything inside of
an AIR application.
But, figure this for a moment: I'll have an application with
some sort of transparent background, which results in all the items
and programs behind the AIR application shining through. Further
imagine that I have some kind of blurred background in my
application from which I want the UI components to stick out nicely
and sharply.
But here's the suprise: no matter how I blur the contents of
my AIR application, everything behind the app stays sharp and
crystal clear.
Now my idea of the whole picture is that the Flash Player
somehow "hands through the application" what is behind it when
system chrome is off and transparency mode is on, but it only seems
to "pipe" it through without applying any effects/filters to it.
So, my question is: is there a good reason for this (maybe it
would be a serious performance and/or platform alignment issue), is
there a workaround (like "plugging into" the piped stream of
background information), or will there some first-hand solution in
the future?

I feared it was something like that... it leaves me a wee
disappointed.
I was hoping to be able to create some sleek blur effects in
the background of my application with AIR...
With the fullscreen capabilities of the Flash Player in mind,
I was also hoping it was possible to create some kind of fullscreen
blur-fade effect, with all the other items fading/blurring to black
when turning my app into fullscreen mode. Something like the effect
of the Steam Media Player, if you happen to know that. But since
that is built upon the Windows Media Player, I already feared that
it would be something specific to WMP in combination with the OS.
I also understand that it would be very difficult to achieve
a similar effect with something like screenshots since it is almost
impossible to do that real time.
Is there any faint chance that AIR/the Flash Player might be
able to do something like filtering/affecting what is shown behind
the app in the future?

that does what you want. But then your question is
"What can I run at the Windows command line to get a
list of all the running applications?" and (I am sure
you will agree) this is nothing at all to do with
Java programming.
I completely agree... I just find it amazing that this guy knows exactly what he wants to do but is unable to point a web browser to a search engine, type in what he wants to do the read the resulting pages.

How to switch between 2 windows of the same application using Cmd+Tab

Hi,
I am using my mac now since about 10 months. I was used to work with Linux and Windows XP.
Something I am badly missing on mac os x is the possibility to switch between 2 windows of the same application using cmd + tab just like it simply works for Linux and Windows (and maybe many other OS out there!).
Very often I have 2 text files open in 2 editor windows (e.g. TextEdit) and need to copy and paste text from one window to the other. I was used to simply use ALT+TAB. But here I have to get my right hand away from the keyboard and use the mouse to change the focus from one window to the other and then use the mouse again to get the focus back to the previous TextEdit windows.
THIS REALLY *****!!!! It makes me crazy. I cannot believe that such a "modern" OP does not support this action. I must be doing something completely wrong or did not understand the mac correctly. Right?
Does anyone have an idea how I can get mac to do something all other operating systems so easily do?

WHY NOT???
Every other OS is able to differentiate between windows and not just applications.
Another example: The Mail application and an Email editor window. When you are writing an Email and you want to switch to the main window of the Mail application to read something you must again use the mouse!
I mean Apple seems to be "somehow" using FreeBSD in the background and even in FreeBSD's window manager it is possible to switch between windows of the same application.
Well, in the Apple world it is always the pour user who is not intelligent enough to understand Apple's philosophy ;-(
To me this is not modern, it is simply a weakness of the OS.

You must have an iPhone 3GS then if its running 4.3.2
The iPhone 3G can only update to 4.2.1 iOS.
Reset the iPhone
Hold the top silver button and the home button (just below the display of the iPhone)
Do this at the same time for about 10 seconds until you see an Apple.
The iPhone then should take 1-3 minutes to restart and it should be fine

Quickly switch windows of the same application

when I have a lot of applications open, I can use Command-Tab to quickly switch between applications and this is working great. I am looking for a similar functionality to quickly switch between windows of the same application. For example, I have 10 Safari windows open. I am looking for a keyboard shortcut to switch between all open windows of Safari (like you can do with Command-Tab for applications).
I know I can use Expose but this is not convenient. I also can do "click and hold" the application icon to do Expose just on the specific application but if you have a lot of windows open, it is not easy to find the one you are looking for. A keyboard shortcut to loop through open windows in an application would be better.
Any idea?

It depends upon the application. But command-tilde will move you to the next window and command-shift-tilde will move you back in many applications (including Safari).

I have one application, for example safari, open and running with multiple windows (with or without tabs) spread over several desktops.
How can I switch between the windows only via keyboard? CMD+> and CMD+< let me only swicht between windows open on the one desktop I am currently looking at.

btw, using a german keyboard layout and german language settings the shortcut is "cmd+<".

What happened to the running application when i re-deploy it.

Hi buddy,
I have an application in portal and run it.
then i deploy my application again, definitely the previous running application will expire.
when the application is running, it will get a connection to the backend system and hold it. if I stop the application or close the window, the connection will be released (i write code in wdDoExit() to achieve that). but the connection will not be released in the situation i described in the beginning.
what should I do to release connection when that situation happened?

How can I make different windows of the same application I have open remain on their respective desktops/spaces after reboot?

I use the same applications for work, entertainment and other personal activities, so it's impossible to simply assign different apps to different desktops/spaces. Thus, I have open windows of the same programs (Pages, TextEdit, Preview) arranged on several desktops. If I reboot my laptop, the windows are just crammed on Desktop 1. Can something be done about it?

Opening windows behind the dock

I like to have my dock shown all the time, so I leave hiding turned off. Something I've noticed with Snow Leopard 10.6.x is that Windows can no longer re-open in their same location if they are left closed behind the dock boundaries (the reserved screen edge).
In Leopard 10.5.x opening a window, for example Adium, tucked neatly in the bottom-right corner's screen edges (with the dock displayed), allows it to be opened in the exact same location.
In Snow Leopard 10.6.x re-opening this window forces it to open outside of the dock's reserved screen edge boundaries. So for instance, if I have my dock displayed on the bottom edge, re-opening this window will force it to open above the bottom edge. The larger my dock-icon size is, the further away from the bottom-edge my windows open.
Electing to have your dock auto-hide fixes this issue, but as my preference, I want my dock on-screen all the time. I wish this functionality could be restored from Leopard 10.5.x, or has it been? Does anyone know of a way to re-open windows in their same position if they where closed behind dock boundaries?

Positioning the dock on the right-edge of the screen reserves the right edge. Window's can not re-open in the same position if they were closed on the right-edge. Same thing applies for the left edge, and obviously the bottom edge.
I suppose if I use the bottom-right edge of the screen for my Adium IM chat windows, I could put the dock on the left-edge. But this is really nothing more than a quick work-around. I wish there was an actual resolution to the issue, like a terminal command which displayed the dock and vacated that reserved edge.

Windows Won't Run Application

I tried to download iTunes for my new iPod (since they no longer come with the disc) but when I try to run the application I get a notification that pops up and it says "/iTunesSetup.exe is not a valid Win32 application."
If anyone can help me I'd appriciate it greatly seeing as I can't even use my iPod until I download iTunes 7. Thank you.

Terminate the Running Application

             Iam running the application its all gets connected. But i had one issue, while application is running inbetween iam ending the process of SAP B1 Application that is i go to task manager and i stop SAP. Now the vb.net application alone is in process. If i end the process of SAP B1, the vb.net application want to stop running..How to do that....
Anyone got idea about this????????/

yes agree with David. This is the correct solution and it is work. TESTED.
if I understood well: even SAP B1 is stopped from Task Manager (END TASK funtion), your add-on is still running, and the Question is how to stop your addon automatically.
Is XL reporter or any other SAP add-on is still running, They have not build in any feature like this
So solution could be to time by time monitor the SAP B1 Process, and when it's ends, close the addon.

Moving thru windows in the same application

Hi everybody. I guess this is a question somebody should already have done but I can't find it in the search.
I would like to know how can I move thru windows in a application. Something like pressing APPLE-TAB but in the same window.
Everythime I move inside a window it get's very frustrating to be going in the "Window" menu and search for the window I need...
If isn't there a way to do that is there a way to put the current active application in top of the others?

In addition to Edwin's advice which is the way I do it, you can click and hold on the application icon on the dock and then choose the window you want.
