Authorizing 2nd computer

I am trying to authorize my 2nd computer with itunes, now my problem is i can be on the 2nd computer, open itunes, sign in, BUT when i try to authorize the computer by going to store>authorize computer, it wont take the password. Shouldnt it be the same as when i sign in? Please help me

On the 2nd PC, does you account name show up in the oval near the top right?
Or does it just say 'Sign in'?

2nd Computer authorized for purchases without my knowledge?

A day or two ago when I visited the iTunes Store I got a message that my computer had been successfully authorized--but I had done nothing to generate this response. I only own the one computer, which has been authorized for iTunes for over a year with no problems. My account page confirms that 2 computers are authorized to play my music--but I have no way of knowing what this 2nd computer is so I can deauthorize it. Any ideas?
(I did recently upgrade to the current version of iTunes.)

Unless you have reason to believe that someone else could have learned your iTunes Music Store account ID and password, then my guess is that's it's just an error in the iTMS authorization database. Since you can authorize up to five systems at any one time, just the fact that it's showing two authorizations will not in and if itself be a problem.
But if you think someone might have gotten access to your account information, the first thing you should do is log into the iTunes Music Store and change your password. You can then contact the iTMS customer service department through the form at the bottom of this web page and explain the situation to them. They might be willing to clear your authorizations for you, after which you can reauthorize your system.

I'm having trouble sharing my Ipod list with my other computer. ( lap top) I authorized both computer's for home sharing but the list is not showing up on my laptop. My I pod is a second generation nano. So how do I get it to show up on my laptop?. Also I only have two computer's but it's authorized with 4, two were old computer's, how do I take them off the list without deauthorizing all 4 computer's,? Or do I have to deauthorize all 4 and then authorize the two I have now? my desk top pc is operating on vista, and my laptop is operating on 7. Does that make a difference? HELP! thank you.

Ipod shuffle won't show up on 2nd computer

Please help..... I want to play my Ipod shuffle on another computer. I don't need to download any music from or to the 2nd computer, I just want to play the shuffle's content on it(in Itunes). When I plug in the usb, the device charges, but it does not show up in Itunes. I authorized the 2nd computer, but still nothing. Please talk me thru this. I love my Ipod, and am very much into my music, but I'm pretty lame at understanding computers, so please keep this in mind when you reply............ Thanks

Actually, that's a good question. I thought it was true with all iPods, but I just tried an experiment on my full-sized iPod and it wasn't the case.
I copied a song (one that I didn't mind deleting) manually to my iPod (not shuffle). I started playing it off the iPod list. Then I went to my main iTunes library list and deleted that song. The song kept playing and continued to be listed on the iPod's list. When I do the same thing with my shuffle, as soon as delete the song off the main library list, the song stops playing and the iPod shuffle re-syncs to no longer have the song.
So to answer your question, I believe you can set the larger iPods to manually manage your music (not sync) and play songs from it on multiple computers. You just can't do the same thing with a shuffle.

Ok, so I purchased my ipod video a few weeks ago, and installed that and itunes on my desktop computer. But recently I purchased a new laptop and installed itunes for it. Control Panel--> System--> Device Manager--> Universal Serial Bus Controllers--> Usb Mass Storage Device if it is enabled check it to enalble it
Also check to see if you have the usb port set to save power and turn it off sometimes this will stop your computer recongizing your iPod

Did you install iTunes?
Once downlaoded, iTunes should have installed, and open once installed.
If its not open you can look for it in your Start Menu in Windows or Finder in Mac.

The music sync is one way - computer to ipod. The exception is itunes purchases. File>Transfer Purchases
You need to copy everything from one computer to the other.

- Restore the iPod from that backup
Note that the backup that iTunes makes does not included synced media like apps and music.
