AUTO_SPACE_ADVISOR_JOB, GATHER_STATS_JOB in a new 10g instance

Hi,
I have installed Oracle and imported a schema to this new server using expdp and impdp. The server is up and running. I noticed that the time take for running these two jobs is high
AUTO_SPACE_ADVISOR_JOB 11 mins
GATHER_STATS_JOB 2 mins
Can anyone share their experience with this? Is it usual to run take so much time for these two schedulers? I did not find any solution in metalink. Please advise.
DB instance - 10.2.0.4
OS: RHEL 5
-Neel

I don't see any great problem in disabling the segment advisor.
The work that the stats job needs to do will be dependant on how much the data changes in the database (and how much data there is). By default, tables are monitored and when 10% (configurable) of a table's data has changed, the auto stats job will want to gather stats for that table.

  • Creating users in new 10g instance

    I am upgrading a production database from 8i on Win NT to 10g on linux. I want to create the production users from the 8i db on the new 10g database without having to have them reset their passwords. We want this to be a seemless migration for our end users. How can we go about this?

    Sounds like a full export and full import is what you're after, but in case you need to do a user level, you can do the before:
    in your 8i database, as internal or sys select:
    username, password, temporary tablespace, default tablespace from dba_users for each user
    system privs from dba_sys_privs for each user
    roles from dba_role_privs for each user
    something like:
    SQL>spool c:\somewhere\copyusers.sql
    SQL>select 'create user '||username||' identified by '|| password||' default tablespace '||default_tablespace||' temporary tablespace '||temporary_tablespace||';' from dba_users where username IN('list_of_users);
    SQL>spool off
    Or use whatever where clause you need to or none at all.
    then do similar for dba_sys_privs and sys_role_privs.
    or if you have the time you can join all three into one script.
    then run the scripts in the 10g database and you'll have your users. then you can do a user level import or whatever you need to do.

  • When-new-form-Instance trigger raised unhandled exception ORA-04062

    Hi,
    We are facing ORA-04062 (FRM-40735 WHEN-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE trigger raised unhandled exception ORA 04062) while trying to run the first form of our Application.
    We are using a PL/SQL LIBRARY(.pll) for forms.
    We are using 10G Application Server,10G DB and Oracle 9i Forms.
    DB Version----10.1.0.4.0
    Application Server--9.0.4.0
    During compilation, we are following the below steps:
    1. Compile the .pll
    2.Compile Forms.
    When we are running these compiled version of forms and pll in Development server where we are compiling it,we are not facing any error.
    But when we are taking these compiled version of forms and pll to the Production Server,we are getting the above error.
    When we are compiling the .pll in Production server, Application runs fine.
    But we should not compile form or pll in Production server.
    Searching in Metalink(Note:73506.1) , we find a solution that remote_dependency_mode if set to signature this problem may be resolved.
    We tried that by chaning ' REMOTE_DEPENDENCIES_MODE=SIGNATURE' in Init.ora file in both Production and Development server.
    But the error still persist.
    I think the problem is regarding .pll.Because for the time being to test the application,I compiled the pll in Production and we didnot get any error while running the Application.
    But whenever we are tring to deploy the compiled version of pll (compiling in Development sever) and to run the application in Production, we are facing the error.
    Also, pll calls one standard database package in SYS.That standard package has VALID status both in Production and in Development.
    We donot have priviledge to change/compile that package.So,we didnot change anything in that package. We didnot change anything in .pll also.
    We are upgrading our forms from 6i to 9i.And now when we are trying to deploy it to Production we are facing ORA-04062 error.
    Can anyone please help ?

    Exactly what procedure or package in SYS are you calling that causes this problem?
    <p>Are both test and production databases at the same version?
    <p>Do you know what procedure or package is named in the error? If not, then you need to improve your on-error trigger processing. I use a PLL_On_Error trigger to capture and improve a number of Oracle messages. It is posted here:
    <p> Re: FRM-40735:Pre_Insert trigger raised unhandled exception ORA-20011
    <p>Note especially the part near the end that deals with FRM-40735. (Not sure, but you may also want to display DBMS_ERROR_TEXT in your situation.)
    <p>If that doesn't help find the actual problem, I would pull out my Re: Zdebug -- Download a Forms debugging message tool, and add messages before every call in the when-new-form-instance process to zero-in on the offending call.
    <p>If it really IS a call to a system process, I would then experiment with creating a server-side package or stored procedure that calls the process, and then call that stored procedure from my form. That way, you effectively insulate your form from system differences.

  • FRM-40735: WHEN-NEW-RECORD-INSTANCE trigger raised unhandled exception

    I have a form that I migrated to 10g from 6i. I have no problems with it in 6i.
    When I launch this migrated form on the web in 10g, I get the following error:
    Error: FRM-40735: WHEN-NEW-RECORD-INSTANCE trigger raised unhandled exception ORA-03127From oracle error code

    //         before all the pieces of a column were inserted or fetched.
    // *Action: Execute the new operation after the non-blocking operation
    //          completes. If piecewise binds/defines were done, execute the new

    Any suggestions.

    Run the debugger and see what line of code is failing.

  • New item instance not firing

    Hi all
    We are seeing a strange problem in forms 10g R2. the when-new-item-instance trigger is firing only for the first time ou click on the item. subsequent clicks on the item from an another item does not fire this trigger. This trigger was firing all the time whenever you navigate to an item in 6i. Hs the behavior changed,
    This is urgent any help is appreciated.

    Hi Grant
    All the forms were initially created and run in AIX (6i patch 13).
    We have migrated all these forms to 10g under Linux. The forms run on the users desktop which is XP. As a part of the upgrade we have recompiled all the forms.

  • BUG REPORT: new 10g Driver throws SQLExcpetion

    So far, i just replaced my old ORACLE JDBC driver jar file with a new version. Of course, i use the classes12.jar to be used by JDK 1.3. This worked for all the 9.xxx Drivers. Now, i tried to use the classes12.jar from the new "10g" Driver (10.1.0.2.0) but it doesn't work anymore. The first simple SELECT statement throws this error:

    so, nothing special. Going back to the last 9.x driver, it works again. Is the 10g driver knwon to be buggy?
    Is there an official bug report web page on the ORACLE site (similar to the sun Java bug database)?

  • Error in creating new OC4J instance

    Hi All,
    I am trying to Create a new OC4J Instance with the Help of "Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g for Application Server Control" , but the following Error message is displayed.
    "Error:
    The configuration files for this Oracle Application Server instance are inconsistent with the
    configuration stored in the repository. In order to protect the repository,
    no further configuration or deployment operations are allowed until the problem with the configuration on the filesystem is resolved. This condition arises when a prior operation was unsuccessful. The exception associated with this failed operation is:
    {0}
    . Please also check the logs located at
    ORACLE_HOME/dcm/logs to determine why DCM was unsuccessful in updating
    the configuration files on disk. Some possible causes are:
    * permissions on files
    * file contention issues on Windows NT
    * internal Oracle error
    After resolving the problem that prevented DCM from updating the configuration
    files, you may use the dcmctl resyncInstance command to resolve the problem.
    Alternatively, you can stop and then restart the active dcmctl or EMD
    process and resyncInstance will automatically be performed."
    Can anyone tell me how to resolve this problem and create a new OC4J instance?

    Hi Jason,
    Thanks for your help.
    I tried DCM tool but it is giving the same error. Is there any other tool to resolve this problem?
    Have you worked on Oracle Content Management SDK (Oracle CM SDK)?
    Actually, I am currently working on Oracle CM SDK. I have to dvelope an Content Management application (like WebstarterApplication which is provided)from scratch which can enable end user
    1. To browse through the documents in the repository.
    2. To open the documents form the repository itself.
    3. To edit and save the document in the place in the repository.
    I found that in WebstarterApplication (an CM SDK Application which is provided as demo), 1st and 2nd features are there but 3rd one is not.
    So, I am going to develope an application from scratch.
    Then is it necessary to create an OC4J Instance?
    Please suggest me what should be the steps to be followed to develope such an application from scratch.
    Thanks.

  • FRM-40735: WHEN-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE trigger raised unhandled except ORA-06508

    Dear Colleague,
    I am migrating a Forms application from Forms 9i to Forms 10g. Most of my forms were originally created using the Oracle Designer Forms generator. I am also using the Webutil plugin. I just finished configuring Webutil, tested it and it seems to be working fine.
    I am able to compile all code and generate a Form executable. However at runtime, I get an error as soon as the first line of code in the WHEN-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE trigger.
    The error is:
    FRM-40735: WHEN-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE trigger raised unhandled exception ORA-06508
    and the beginning of the code is as follows. Using the debugger, I found out that the line:
    CGBS2$.SET_COORD_STYLE( 'P' );
    initiates an error.
    /* CGLY$INIT_CANVASES */
    /* Call procedure to ensure correct canvases are visible */
    BEGIN
    CGBS2$.SET_COORD_STYLE( 'P' );
    CGBS2$.SET_QRY_ON_ENTRY( 'Y' );
    CGBS2$.SET_NAV_FROM_BLOCK( 'PROJ_BLOCK' );
    CGLY$CANVAS_MANAGEMENT;
    END;
    Is the error telling me that this procedure was not found? How can I proceed to find the cause and solution of my problem? Are one of the Oracle Designer Forms Generator libraries missing?
    I would appreciate a tip to help me begin seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.
    Thanks and regards,
    Randy

    Randy,
    Glad I could help and you've got your Form running.
    @user9230833
    It is consider "bad form" to usurp another's post. Please create your own Forum post and include a link or links to any relevant posts. As to Randy's situation, he simply compiled the Forms 9i Library module (.pll) with Forms 10g's compiler. This may not be the cause of your error. When you post your own question, please include your Forms version (full version [eg; 10.1.2.0.2] not the release [6i, 9i, 10g, etc]). Also include any sample code that might help us help you! ;-)

  • 40735 WHEN-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE-TRIGGER raised unhandled exception ORA-06502

    After migrationg my form from 6i to 10g I am getting the 40735 WHEN-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE-TRIGGER raised unhandled exception ORA-06502 err msg. the field is a date field and should be automatically populated with sysdate- 365. but when i open the form to run it is not populated automatically. i have to enter the date manually. the code in the NEW-FORM-INSTANCE trigger is as follows:
    declare
    record_id RecordGroup;
    error_cd number;
    begin
    -- Set the main window properties
    set_window_property(forms_mdi_window, window_state, maximize);
    -- Menu Security
    set_menu_items;
    select sysdate - 365
    into :start_date
    from dual;
    end;
    I check the property palate for the start_date field and it looks ok. the form is working fine in windows but the above message is comming out while running the form in Unix.
    Any help will be greatly apreciated.

    First thing, try qualifying the start_date with the block name
    declare
    record_id RecordGroup;
    error_cd number;
    begin
    -- Set the main window properties
    set_window_property(forms_mdi_window, window_state, maximize);
    -- Menu Security
    set_menu_items;
    select sysdate - 365
    into :block.start_date
    from dual;
    end;

  • Can 10G express be used to create an application for use with a 10G instanc

    Hi
    Can 10G express be used to create an application for use with a 10G instance? I am new to Oracle 10G. I like the interface for creating applications, maintaining users, etc. Can this tool be pointed at a regular instance of 10G so that applications can be created against a regular 10G database not the express database?
    Can PL/SQL proceedures that are created in 10G express also be migrated to a 10G database?

    Can 10G express be used to create an application for use with a 10G instance?Yeah, that's the whole point from a marketing perspective ;)
    Can this tool be pointed at a regular instance of 10G so that applications can be
    created against a regular 10G database not the express database?Yes but it's a different version. Check out:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/index.html
    Can PL/SQL proceedures that are created in 10G express also be migrated to a 10G database?Yes they can!

  • Possible to create new ASM instance and "import" existing diskgroup?

    This is my worst nightmare. Two days before a server was about to be shut down, it crashed on me, corrupting the filesystem where Oracle was installed. Setup was an HP-UX 11.11 server running Oracle 10g with ASM storage on a disk array. Both instances were in the filesystem that got corrupted, and amazingly, we don't have a backup, so I'm not able to restore the instance configs and restart the database. Presumably, my data is still sitting there on the disks that belong to the ASM diskgroup, but I don't know how to get at it. I started by creating a new ASM instance, but I can't figure out if there's a way to create a diskgroup out of those 16 disks without wiping out what's on them.
    V$ASM_DISK shows all the disks as MEMBERs, with the CREATE_DATE that they were originally created, so I know at least the headers are intact. So is there any way I can manually recreate that diskgroup in my new instance so it will mount the disks and let me at the data?
    I realize that not having backups is the height of stupidity, but that boat has sailed. My company also chose not to pay for Oracle Support this year, so I'm kind of on my own. If anybody can at least point me in the right direction or tell me that it's a lost cause, I'd appreciate it.

    Well, a little progress. I was able to finally mount the disks in my new ASM instance, and using asmcmd, I can actually see my datafiles sitting there. So now I'm thinking I should try manually creating a new database instance pointing to the spfile that's in there and try starting that. I'm also going to try using RMAN and the XMLDB FTP trick to copy those datafiles somewhere else so I know I can play with them.

  • Oracle AS 10gR2: create new oc4j instance supporting ssl/https

    hi,
    i've got an oracle application server 10.1.2 (infra and midtier).
    in the midtier i want to add a new oc4j-instance which is possible via oracle enterprise manager 10g. after i've created the new oc4j-instance and deployed a war-file ("myapp") i can access a jsp of the deployed application with "http://myserver/myapp/test.jsp". now i want to enable ssl/https for my new oc4j-instance.
    i did the following steps according to the manual (http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_19/web.1012/b14013/configssl.htm):
    1) created certificate with keytool
    2) added secure-web-site.xml (new oc4j-instance)
    3) modified sever.xml (new oc4j-instance)
    4) restarted new oc4j-instance
    my test.jsp is still available with "http://myserver/myapp/test.jsp", but when i try to access it with "https://myserver/myapp/test.jsp" i get an error that the resource is not found. strange that when accessing test.jsp with http it is searched in the folder of my new oc4j-instance (%ORACLE_HOME%/j2ee/oc4jnew/...), but when i want to access the page through https the server looks for the jsp in the default oc4j "home" (%ORACLE_HOME%/j2ee/home/...).
    what's the reason for that an how can i correct it?
    regards,

    You need to secure the HTTP Server and not the OC4J, remember that HTTP and WebCache are your frontends for any presentation layer, you need to modify ssl.conf and webcache in WebCache Admin page (in EM Console) to make them use ssl ports, as well as you want to use url with no port, you need to use port 443.

  • Restoring a RMAN backup to a new database instance

    Hi Mates,
    I have an issue with restoring a RMAN backup that i have with me to a new database instance. What i have with me are:
    1. Backup of SPFile. (O1_MF_NCNNF_CTLFILE_BU_92DVGYO2_.BKP)
    2. Backup of Control file (O1_MF_NNSNF_SPFILE_BU_92DVGW9H_.BKP)
    3. Full database backup (O1_MF_NNSNF_FULLPROD_BU_92DVGW9H_.BKP)
    I have received these files from a customer environment and I need to restore these to a new database instance in a local machine. I have given a attempt as follows (in Oracle 10g):
    1, Created a new database instance (Test75) using Oracle Database Configuration Assistant
    2. SET ORACLE_SID = Test75
    3. Connected to this instance using RMAN
    4. Tried to restore the SPFILE from the received BKP file.
    I am getting errors and cannot proceed. I am not sure whether I am executing the correct steps. Please help me out by telling me how should I achieve this.
    Thank you.

    1. Backup of SPFile. (O1_MF_NCNNF_CTLFILE_BU_92DVGYO2_.BKP)
    2. Backup of Control file (O1_MF_NNSNF_SPFILE_BU_92DVGW9H_.BKP)
    The first backuppiece looks like a ControlFile and the second one looks like an SPFILE'
    >I am getting errors and cannot proceed
    What is the error ?  (I assume that you tried to restore the SPFILE from O1_MF_NNSNF_SPFILE_BU_92DVGW9H_.BKP
    Note that you also have to SET DBID before you restore the controlfile

  • How to get new controller instance instead of a cached one?

    Hi,
    I have the following problem. I am working on a stateful mvc application. You can search for items and then click on a button which allows you to see the details of an item in a new window and it is possible to modify it.
    I use standard javascript code to open the details windows:
    window.open("item.do?itemnumber=1", "MyFirstWindow");
    This works fine. It opens the first window. The item controller is called for the first time  and the do_init method will be executed.
    Now, I open a second window with this code:
    window.open("item.do?itemnumber=2", "MySecondWindow");
    Unfortunately the framework will not create a second controller instance for the second window. It will use the already existing item controller (the do_init method will not be called).
    Now, I have two windows open which both use the same controller instance.
    So my question is: Is there the possibility to tell the framework that I need a new item controller instance for every new window?
    I already checked various official url sap-parameters but did not find anything useful.
    regards
    Thomas

    Hi,
    sorry for not answering earlier. To be honest I thought there might a standard way to get a new controller instance. But it seems that is not the case. For everybody who is interested I think I will use the following solution.
    I create a wrapper controller called itemwrapper.do. The view of this controller has the following layout:
    <htmlb:content design="design2003" >
      <htmlb:document>
        <htmlb:documentHead>
        </htmlb:documentHead>
        <htmlb:documentBody>
                  <bsp:call url     = "item.do"
                            comp_id = "<%= item_id %>">
                    <bsp:parameter name="itemid" value="<%= item_id %>"/>
                  </bsp:call>
        </htmlb:documentBody>
      </htmlb:document>
    </htmlb:content>
    The wrapper controller is called like this: item.do?itemid=1234.
    How does is works? The wrappercontroller gets a request -> it gets the itemid from the url -> it opens the view and fills the page attribute item_id. In the view the bsp:call extension will create a new item controller instance everytime a unique item_id is used.
    regards
