Auto update of latest document links in Wiki pages

Hi I am completely new to Sharepoint and wiki pages. I manage to do few changes to wiki pages to have a feel of it. I noticed that every time i create a link to a document if the version changes i need to update the link manually by editing it. Is there
any way to automate this process?
Eg: Docv1.0.doc is updated to Docv2.0
Thanks
gauls

I manage to get something working using webparts Content Editor and linking it to a file. Not sure if this the only/best approached for Sharepoint 2007
<script type="text/javascript">
function getLatestFile(){
var myObject;
var recent = "";
myObject = new ActiveXObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject");
var folderObj = myObject.GetFolder("C:\Test");
var fc = new Enumerator(folderObj.files);
for(var objEnum = new Enumerator(FileCollection); !objEnum.atEnd(); objEnum.moveNext()) {
If (recentFile = ""){
recentFile = file;
else if (file.DateLastModified > recentFile.DateLastModified){
recentFile = file;
}//for loop
alert("recentFile : " + recentFile);
var mylink = document.getElementById("myLink");
mylink.setAttribute("href", urlToFile);
mylink.click();
</script>
<P>&nbsp;</P><A id="myLink" onclick="getUrl();"> TestFile1 </A>

  • File server links in wiki pages

    Is there a way to insert links in wiki pages to files on the same server (rather than upload the file itself)?
    We have wikis and (afp) file shares on the same physical 10.6 server.
    Thanks!

    Having tested a few approaches, one that seems to work is to set up an FTP share that does not require login – that is, enable anonymous access to a 'public' ftp area. The permissions need be set to read-only or read/write to all, and files can be linked to in the following format from a wiki page:
    ftp://<servername>/<sharename>/<filename>
    While this works, it is not great from a security perspective – especially for internal wikis.

  • How do I auto-update the date (in a footer)  in Pages 5.2.2 ?

    I have inserted the date into the footer of my document. I am running Pages 5.2.2 on Mavericks.
    I would like the date to auto-update to today's date.  I found a post from 2013 ( How to auto-update Time and Date?), but my version of pages doesn't work as described.  The only choice is update to today's date as a button I can manually click, but there doesn't seem to be an auto-update check box anymore.  Is there a new way to do it or has the feature been removed?

    Hi Cindy,
    Click once in the Footer.
    Menu > Insert > Date & Time.
    Double click to select the Date & Time in the Footer and choose a Date & Time format
    And there is also the Set to Today button.
    Waiting several minutes (just enough time for a cup of coffee) and then clicking the Set to Today button, the time changes from 9:53 pm to 9:59 pm.
    I can't wait until tomorrow to see if the date changes, but I think it will .
    Another way (clunky) is to insert a single-cell table somewhere in your document and type =now and format to your liking.
    As far as I know, Date & Time will update after you Save and then Open your document. Please call back after you test.
    Regards,
    Ian.

  • Please help - trojan/rootkit in my auto update of latest flash player?

    Hello
    I would be very grateful if anyone is able to advise me about what to do.
    My problem is that yesterday, after starting my computer, I was prompted to update my flash player version on startup (like is usual). I told it to do so and it opened my web browser to the following web page: https://get3.adobe.com/flashplayer/update/plugin/. Is the security certificate for this website a bit suspect or is that normal for Adobe? Legitimate site?
    From there I clicked to download the latest version and got a file with this name: install_flashplayer11x32_mssd_au_aih.exe (please note the "au" - which shouldn't be there?).
    Unfortunately, I went ahead and ran it, not noticing anything out of the ordinary, until after the installation. Straight away I was bombarded with about 20 program is not responding messages, which kept on reappearing even after I'd tried to close flashplayer down.
    This made me look into things and I've discovered a couple of things which are of concern to me:
    (1). These people are talking about how the file is a rootkit: http://www.novahq.net/forum/showthread.php?p=378847
    (2). Virustotal found a trojan when I uploaded the file: https://www.virustotal.com/file/8833e31c04dfd19fc2f80edac481119ed0f3c7251a6619d40c223557e0 c68b22/analysis/
    So.... what do I do now? I've scanned with AVG, Malwarebytes, Super Anti-adware, Trend Micro Housecall and TDSSkiller, all of which basically found nothing, apart from a locked sptd file. Apart from these scans, I have done nothing else to my computer yet, like trying to uninstall it, etc. I thought I'd best wait to hear what people have to say before taking action because I'm not sure what I should do next...
    Thank you for taking your time to read this, and again, if you can help I'd be relieved!
    Browser is the latest version of Firefox and I am running Windows 7. I apologise for any mistakes or rushed typing, I'm just trying to get this sorted, heh :/

    I have just downloaded the installer file from the link you posted; I have analyzed it, and it is free of malware.
    If your Flash Player installation is working now (check it at http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/find-version-flash-player.html) then you don't need to do anything.
    If Flash Player is not working properly, follow these instructions:
    download the Flash Player uninstaller from http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html and save it to disk;
    download the offline installer(s) from http://helpx.adobe.com/content/help/en/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player- windows.html#main-pars_header and save it/them to disk;
    close all browser and other applications, then run the downloaded uninstaller, followed by the installer(s).

  • How can I auto-update all book file links after making a new copy of my project?

    Using Indesign CC 2014,
    Windows 7x64.
    I've created a catalog, using a book file (.indb) which connects 20 Indesign files (.indd) together (so page numbering is continuous, etc).
    Each of the 20 Indesign files all have numerous art asset links and cross references. In total, ~200 files are involved.
    Once finished with the whole thing, I made a copy of the entire folder structure and placed it elsewhere, because I now need to create a modified version of this catalog project for a different company.
    In the end I need to wind up with 2 different, but very similar catalogs.
    Here's my problem: when I made the copy of the entire project and opened the copied over book file, I've found that it's still referencing the older 20 Indesign files back in the first folder structure.
    It's not using the new stuff.
    Same goes for all the art asset links inside each Indesign file.
    Looks like absolute paths only.
    What's the standard operation procedure here? What can I do to avoid having to manually re-link numerous art assets, etc?
    Surely, this is a common need among Indesign users.

    Hey, Peter!
    I've delayed my response here.
    Been dinking around, trying things.
    That's a smart suggestion, but the Package command will round up all assets into a nice compact folder structure ready for production. It's not really what I need.
    I need to keep things as they are, fully editable and unaltered - my folder structure is carefully crafted as is, and I definitely don't need all the fonts dumped into a folder.
    Here's what I'm doing now - I make a complete new copy of the folder structure in question. It includes all InDesign files and linked artwork, etc. Everything.
    I then CHANGE the name of root folder of the folder structure I initially copied. This breaks all the absolute paths of the copy.
    Then I open each InDesign file and the CORRECT links are still automatically found because it looks inside the new folder structure I just made by creating the copy. So all links get "fixed".
    Thank goodness InDesign is far more intelligent about finding missing links than Illustrator.
    This is the best solution I've found. It's not perfect, but nothing ever is.

  • After updating the recent ISO update all my documents disappeared from my pages

    I recently updated the ISO program for my iPad.  All my word documents in Pages have disappeared. It is a problem for me to have lost important documents. Where did they go and can they be recovered?  I only have a iPad so I do not connect to the cloud.

  • Auto updated to 18.0.1 but startup page says need to update so does facebook?

    We have been using firefox forever and have the autoupdate enabled so help about shows we have 18.0.1 but recently facebook started showing a notice that we need to update on startup today got a page that says the same thing. Is the browser sending a different version number than the current update? or?

    hello paul, your useragent (the information the browser sends to websites to identify its version) - apparently mistakenly - shows you're on firefox version 3.5.5. please refer to this article in order to reset the user-agent settings in firefox: [[Websites say that Firefox is outdated or incompatible even though it's the latest version]]

  • I update to latest version but browswer home page always tells me i am not on the latest version

    this has happened several times when i have downloaded he latest version - currently the one released 21 dec 2011 i downloaded did the same - everything goes fine with the download and the older version it says is replaed - i am on a mac but that shouldn't matter i guess - what do you think

    This - http://www.google.com/firefox - is the old Firefox Start Page used by the Firefox 3.6 and earlier versions of Firefox, I don't think it is being maintained by Google.
    Starting with the Firefox 4 version, Firefox is using a "local" Start Page with the address of '''about:home'''. It looks similar to the old Start Page, but it isn't exactly the same.

  • Linking word documents and auto-updating TOCs?

    Hi, all!
    I know InDesign a bit, but am about to embark on a project that I could use some help on. Im compiling all the different writing Ive done in the past four years into a little ebook. There are about 50 different essays/articles, each under four categories in the table of contents. Many need editing, and the ebook will require lots of moving things around and editing.
    So, is it possible to link Word documents like as you can do with images? I would like to have InDesign link to all the different word documents that comprise different essays, etc, so I can edit individual essays from Word and have them auto-update within InDesign. Also, is there a similar thing I can do with the table of contents, where it will automatically update the page number of a given entry when I rearrange it? These two things would save me much time!
    Thank you!
    Alec

    As much as you think you want to auto-update the Word documents, you don't.
    Yes, there is a way to link those Word files, but you will lose all formatting applied in ID each time you do update the linked files.
    Why don't you just make those changes in InDesign?
    Next, yes, you can create a TOC that will update page numbers automatically when the document(s) change.
    That is no problem.

  • Silent auto update requires admin privileges

    From what I have read the silent auto update feature is supposed to use the system account so the user can be a non-admin and it will still silently update in the background. However the users are getting the following error message popping up:
    Adobe Flash Player 11.7 Installer
    The installation encountered errors:
    You must have administrative privileges to install Adobe Flash Player. Please log on with administrative priveleges and try again.
    I configured the mms.cfg file as follows:
    SilentAutoUpdateEnable=1
    AutoUpdateDisable=0
    Any ideas why this is happening? Would like a way to have it silently auto update to latest flash version even if user is non admin, since all our users run in this capacity. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

    As my last post pointed out, it looks like it's using a regular updater instead of the silent one. Any ideas on why it's not using silent mode even though I configured the mms.cfg file as follows:
    SilentAutoUpdateEnable=1
    AutoUpdateDisable=0
    Thanks!

  • Wiki Pages Dynamic Menu Error

    Hi,
    When creating a standard wikik page, the left menu I guess will show links to wiki pages, however I only get this error on all wiki pages that are created throughout the site!
    Any idea on how to solve this error?
    regards
    Martin

    Hi Martin,
    Did this happen to all wiki pages in all SharePoint web applications?
    Did you find some ULS log messages related to this issue when you access the wiki page with the error in the Updated Pages section?
    The Updated Pages section is displated with newly updated wiki pages in wiki library, it is defined in wiki page templated wkpstd.aspx located under 15 directory (15\TEMPLATE\DocumentTemplates folder) and each wiki page will inherited it, for this issue,
    I would try to recycle the SharePoint site from the IIS (and IISRESET), and then see if it could work.
    Thanks

  • Beehive Workspaces - WIKI pages and SSO

    Hi,
    I made a Word document that contains links to Wiki pages in an (Oracle internal) Beehive Workspace.
    A side-effect is that the user has to logon through SSO each time a link is selected in the Word document, even if the previous link/session is still active in IE or FF.
    Can this behaviour be changed, so the user user only needs to log on at the first link ?

  • How do I disable linked smart-object auto-update/refresh?

    Working in the CC3D features, I am constantly making changes to my bump map. Every time I step-backwards, or make a significant change to the bump texture (smart object?), CC auto-saves the layer. This specific file is a very very large document (3 gigs in the bump texture layer alone), and the 3D layer has lots of lights and is very complex. This auto-refresh/update really bogs down the time that it would take me to make my changes. I have a very fast machine (I know it's fast, I dont need to list my specs), and I have all shadows disabled.
    How do I disable linked smart-object auto-update/refresh?

    If you do not like a feature like smart objects there is nothing forcing you to use it. Use some other features to do what you want. Please don't ask Adobe to introduce bug into smart object support.
    You could work on your bump maps textures in external files. When your done some time in the future you could edit your project with the smart object layer and use replace smart object. Only then will all smart filters be applied to the smart layer with the replaced smart object.
    Or if by CC Auto save Layer you referring to CC Generate feature you can disable that feature.
    I have no idea what your referring to when you write "CC auto-saves the layer" being a feature. I know CC Generate will write layers out as web files but that more a Web feature then a 3d feature.  Where do you see your layer being saved?

    Hi pholewinski!
    I have a couple of articles for you here that I believe will help you with this issue. The first is an article on advanced troubleshooting, and it can be found here:
    iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3297
    If following that article's steps doesn't take care of the issue, you can try the things listed in this article, which is about permissions issues in iTunes:
