Autoincrment field in SAP database

Hi
I'm trying to create autoincrement field in one of my SAP tables, but i can't find any such data type.
I' ve read some articles on forums over the internet, suggesting to create a trigger or sequence... i remember doing this once on an Oracle DBMS, but i can't find something similar here in SAP.
Any ideas?

senario from sdn. I'm trying to do that senario in MII 12.05. But I have problem with section 6 in page 7 (you can supply senario from sdn)
"6- Under the loop of Repeater, use action u2018Rowu2019 to append just the string part of the WA which will display only values for field u2018Batchu2019"
I did not find WA elemen in Output element of Repeater_0
How can I create WA element?

Set up a SAP JCo Interface action block. Use the RFC name RFC_READ_TABLE.
In the link editor map the table to "MARA", set RowCount to something small (20 is good sample size) and create an xml transaction property named FIELDS and copy the following into it:

Then link the Transaction.FIELDS to SAP_JCo_Interface_0.Request{/RFC_READ_TABLE/TABLES/FIELDS}. You may run into problems with two other fields and optionally they can be removed (set link type to remove xml). I usually remove them initially for testing. The two fields are:
SAP_JCo_Interface_0.Request{/RFC_READ_TABLE/INPUT/NO_DATA}
SAP_JCo_Interface_0.Request{/RFC_READ_TABLE/INPUT/DELIMITER} (or you can set this to something like a semicolon,";" or tilda,"~". I find it easier to caclulate position by length, but that is my own idiosyncrasy.)
Once you get this one working, we can explore how to do filtering on the dataset. Your output should be something like this:

Add a repeater sourced on:
SAP_JCo_Interface_0.Response{/RFC_READ_TABLE/TABLES/DATA/item}
Link your repeater output to a tracer with this:
Repeater_0.Output{/item/WA}
What you will see in each tracer message is a single line of data with all the fields contents concatenated together. You can look up what each field in the string represents by the length of the field as returned in the Response segment of the RFC_READ_TABLE rfc. Then you can parse out the data you are interested in.
Give this a try and let me know how you succeeded.

Changing the label of a field in SAP GUI

Hello SAP Guys,
I would like to change the label of a field in SAP GUI.
I already did it internally because for that field the Shor Text of the label changed:
I went to SE11, and wrote down the appropriate data element, through Translation I changed the entries of SCRTEXT_L, SCRTEXT_M and SCRTEXT_S and activated this change after saving.
It is very strange that after making sure that the
Short Text of that field was changed, I went to trx BP and I could see that the label didn´t change.
I´ll appreciate any help you can give me,

Hi Efrain,
Can you tell me in which screen did you make the screen.
Moreover the changes are not reflected immediately.
What you can try is to create a new record of the transaction in which you changed the label and save the recore. After this try to close the session and reopen the transaction and this should work.
The reason is the label on the screen are not picked up from the data element everytime but from buffer. So when you create a record this updates the database table entry and can also refresh the buffer.
I had the same problem in BP transaction and the above solution worked.

Saving customer fields to SAP table (EXIT_SAPMM06E_012)

Hi All,
I would like to ask you guys a bit of a help with a user exit that I am working on as of the moment.
I am coding a user exit for a service purchase order (ekpo-knttp = 'K' and ekpo-pstyp = 'D') this is a service purchase order of cost centre category.
Since SAP does not allow the goods recipient (ekkn-wempf) to be modified for reasons specified in SAP Note 118008. I have used user exit MM06E005 FMs EXIT_SAPMM06E_017, EXIT_SAPMM06E_016 to the data in PBO and PAI for the transaction.
Now I tried using the two FMs EXIT_SAPMM06E_018 and EXIT_SAPMM06E_012 to pass this value to the table but it does not seem to get saved in table EKKN.
Using FM EXIT_SAPMM06E_018 the I have maintained the structure CI_EKPODB to include WEMPF and after debugging passing that user exit area the wempf is being tranfered to global data but this does not get saved in EKKN table (EKKN-WEMPF).
Although this is outside of the standard best practice of SAP since the account assingment belongs to the limits or the service line for service order but maintaining this recipient field for the PO item does not impact our system processes as the business acknolwedges goods recipient for service PO.
BADI ME_PROCESS_PO_CUST has also been implemented under method PROCESS_ACCOUNT invoking the interface IF_PURCHASE_ORDER_ACCOUNT_MM but unsucessful in the operation.
If anyone of you guys has encoutered same scenario or implementation requirement please do give information on this or work-arounds are well appreciated as well.

We have worked on a similar requirement ,just check if its useful to you.
Requirement:
                     You have to add the custom field in SAP standard table EKKO. Then we have to place the field in ME21N screen. When user enters any input into the field it should get updated in the database.
Note:
                     EKKO table is meant for Purchasing document header, you should add the field in the header level for ME21n screen. There you are provided with customer sub screens where you can add the field in the screen.
Procedure:
1You have to create a field in the Custom Include of standard table, after creating activate it.
2.Double click on the include then you can add your custom field here.
Find out the Required Enhancements:
1.Go to SMOD. Press F4 in the Enhancement field. In the next popup window, click pushbutton u2018Information systemu2019.
2.Then mention the particular package name of the transaction you need to      enhance. Then you will be shown the list of Enhancement components for that particular package.
3.Note down the enhancements. Then, come to the initial screen of SMOD and view the documentation of each enhancement to find out which one is required for your development.
MM06E005 is the Enhancement component we are using here.
Development
Creating a Project to include the enhancement:
1.Go to transaction CMOD and create a project.
2.Enter a description for the project.
3.Then, click on the pushbutton u2018Enhancement Assignmentsu2019 in the Application Toolbar.
4.Click on the components in Application Toolbar.
5.Here you will be shown the function module exits, screen exits and Include tables.
6.Click on the custom screen SAPLXMO6 u2013 0101 in which it suits the requirement of adding the custom field to the layout
7.Click on layout and go to get from dictionary and select the field you need to add and click ok.
8.Place the field in the layout and activate it.
9.After that you come back and check the respective function module in which you need to implement the code. So, we need to import the data from sub screen for purchasing document header. Therefore we have chosen the EXIT_SAPMM06E_008.
10. Write code in the Function Exits to synchronize the programs:
                   Now, code has to be written in the function modules EXIT_SAPMM06E_008 so that data flows to and fro between the main SAP program and custom sub screen program. Double clicking on the exit we get the following screen.
11. Double click on the include and write the required code inside it. Then activate it.
TABLES:EKKOIF NOT EKKO_ZADD IS INITIAL.
MOVE EKKO-ZADD to e_ci_ekko-zadd.
move corresponding e_ci_ekko to ekko.
modiky ekko from ekko.
12. Now come back and activate the entire project.
13. Now go to ME21n transaction and create a purchase order by giving all the mandatory fields including custom field we have created. Here Test is the custom field we have created. After entering the data then press SAVE button, your data will be populated to the respective table.
14. Go to SE11 or SE16n, check whether the field got updated in the database or not in EKKO table.

Hi,
To find inbound FM, you can go to transaction WE57. Go to selection -> by contents (menu), select basic type and enter the corresponding IDoc type. The system will display the corresponding FM(s).
You can also go to transaction WE64 to find the inbound and outbound FM(s).

I am not aware any standard tool but you can write custom report to use FM DDIF_FIELDINFO_GET to get fields information of SAP database table.
Call the above FM twice in order to get field names for two different database tables. Then compare the results (table parameter DFIES_TAB) to find out the differences of field names.

Looks like you haved use multiconnect for this task in the past. At the moment only databases that are supported as a main database can be accessed using this technique. So you cannot have an entry for a mysql database in the dbcon table. Sorry for that but that is the current status. You will have to use a different approach.

Upload fields from SAP R/3 to BW

Dear All,
I'm looking for a method to upload fields from SAP R/3 to BI 7.0.
My testing case as following:
- Upload table DFKKKO \ field OBEL from R/3 to BW
- I created a Generic Datasource and select this field.
- When coming back to BI, I replicate the metadata from SAP source system and can display my Generic Datasource.
- I create the Info Package for this Generic Datasource but when I run the scheduling, I didn't find any data in PSA table.
So this is my questions:
- Is this method (generic datasource) suitable for uploading from SAP R/3 to BI or there is anything else better?
- Why the data cannot uploaded to PSA table? (I got this error message from Monitor "EDI: Partner profile inbound not available" and "Some IDocs have error status" but don't know how to correct)
If there is any possible response, I shall give reward point.

Use DistinctCount keyword directly for your calculation instead of count(distinct(....
Alternatively, if you want to avoid duplicate records, under "File" > "Report Options" make the 'Select Distinct Records' as True.

Getting the length of a field in a database.

I have a field in a database that has a char length of 20, is there anyway to get that length from the database.

I probally didn't explain myself properley. The field might not have anything in it. The field would only except a length of 20, some have 10 others 5.
I have a GUI repersenting a table in the database. When the user is inputting into this field I want to stop them from entering more than 20 Characters. I need to know how many characters the field will accept.
I'm trying to stop my client from calling me up and saying that there something rong with the program because when he enters data, it only saves half of it.
