Automate dynamically selected Discoverer report Export/Import

hello,
I have a situation where in I need to export newly created reports and import them back again after cloning.
eg: user will create report in dev1 instance. This instance will get daily refreshed from prod. But we do not want to loose these reports after cloning of DEV1.
Query that we wil use to select reports is :-
select *
from eul5_documents
where doc_created_Date between (sysdate -1) and sysdate;
This is daily activity and hence has tobe automated.
Quick reply will be appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi
In theory, your idea is sound. However, if your have any sharing of reports then these could be lost using your method as you will lose any that have been shared today.
Why don't you use Discoverer's in-built export | import capabilities via the Admin tool? This way you can be guaranteed to get everything right. You could use your SQL to detect workbooks that have been created during the day and then take those names and use the Admin tool to export them. Following the refresh from Production you could then import them.
Best wishes
Michael

  • 'Plant Location' field in dynamic selection of report

    Hi Experts,
I have entered some value in plant location in WBS org. data tab and want to filter the report by giving this field in dynamic selection of reports. But this field is not availble in dynamic selection. how we can add the same, even this is standard field in PRPS table (PRPS-STORT). Pls help.
    Regards
    Dinesh Chauhan

In standard SAP this field is not set for dynamic selection
you can create your customer view with STORT activated or you can change the STD view
    SE36
    enter PSJ as logical database
go to menu path (in that same screen)
    Extras -> selection views
this will default to CUS (short for CUS view)
change this to SAP and change button
In the table node section scroll down till you come to table PRPS_R then double click on that
in the table field section below enter B2 next to the stort field (you may to scroll) - this means that this will now be visible in the org unit section for WBS in dyn selection
save etc and then re try

  • Oracle 10g Discoverer Reports & export to xls fails for large reports

    Hi ,
    We have following configurations:
    1: RHEL 5.4
    2: Discoverer :Version 10.1.2.48.18
    3: Oracle10g Apps Version : Version 10.1.2.0.2
    Issue:
Most of small reports works fine ....but when large discoverer reports are executed the page
keeps on refreshing for 15-20 hours but no output ....same for export to xls ......
But same reports works fine in oracle9i for same data voulme....
    Observations:
When on linux with top command the processes are monitored its observed that discoverer process
dis51ws dies for large reports after 1-2 minutes ...& the page keeps on refreshing but no output....
for 1-2 minutes it consumes 50-80% cpu utilisation then process disappears & cpu 80% idle ...
It seems that as 10g Apps is installed on RHEL 5.4 ...non certfified OS causing an issue...
Can any one adds more inputs in this regards......
we have checked logs : below are log details :

    Regards,

    Hi ,
as per Note: 466697.1 ....its an memory error....& need to increase MaxVirtualDiskMem and MaxVirtualHeapMem
But we already have slowly increased MaxVirtualDiskMem and MaxVirtualHeapMem to below very high values ...but the issue remains same.......
as per note we are getting Logkeys: exceptions discoiv.servlet_exceptions error but
after that we are not getting below error ............
Unexpected error in state machine: java.lang.OutOfMemoryError
Hence I presume that its different issue rather than memmory....
    Below are pref.txt values..........
CacheFlushPercentage          = 25          # Percent of cache flushed if the cache is full. valid values 0 - 100%.
MaxVirtualDiskMem          = 9294967296     # Maximum amount of disk memory allowed for the data cache. Should be greater than or equal to MaxVirtualHeapMem
MaxVirtualHeapMem          = 4294967296     # Maximum amount of heap memory allowed for the data cache.
    QueryBehavior = 0          # Action to take after opening a workbook (0 = Run Query Automatically, 1 = Don't Run Query, 2 = Ask for Confirmation)
Also we have raised an SR & as per SR .............all below settings are tried as per SR except for applying a recent patch....
    ====================================================================
Discoverer performance is largely determined by how well the database
has been designed and tuned for queries.
A well-designed database will perform significantly better than a poorly
    designed database.
Workbook design can also affect query performance.
    1. Apply latest Discoverer patch as documented in <<Note:237607.1>>
'ALERT: Required and Recommended Patch Levels For All Discoverer Version'.
    2. Increase the maximum JVM heap memory:
In general, the default values for the minimum heap (-Xms) memory and
maximum heap (-Xmx) memory are sufficient.
However, if your organization consistently runs large Discoverer queries
then you may benefit from increasing the maximum heap memory from the
    default values.
This is recomended if your users are typically running large queries via
    Discoverer Viewer.
Increasing the JVM memory can help to avoid "java.lang.OutOfMemoryError"
    in Discoverer Viewer:
Please see <<Note 563960.1>>, Best Practice: Configuring The
    OC4J_BI_Forms JVM For
Discoverer Viewer/Portlet 10g Performance And Stability for specific
    details.
    3. Disable Query Prediction:
Query Prediction provides an estimate of the time required to retrieve
    the information in a query.
The Query Prediction appears before the query and consumes time.
Edit the <oracle_home>/discoverer/util/pref.txt on the middle-tier
    server and set:
    QPPEnable=0
    Also set:
    QPPObtainCostMethod = 0
    4. Uncheck the 'Enable fantrap detection' checkbox.
When the box is checked, every query generated by Discoverer is
interrogated. Discoverer will detect a fan trap and rewrite the query to
ensure that the aggregation is done at the correct level.
Please refer to <<Note:210553.1>>, Oracle BI Discoverer: Fan Trap
    Resolution - Correct Results
Everytime for more information on fantraps.
To disable, in Plus go to Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Fan Trap
    settings.
In Viewer go to Preferences and uncheck the box.
    5. Disable Materialized Views/Summaries
    In pref.txt add parameter:
    MaterializedViewRedirectionBehavior = 0
Value equal to 0 ensures that Materialized View (MV) Redirection is
always performed when MVs are available.
    6. Improve query performance by optimizing the SQL.
    In pref.txt modify/add following parameters:
    SQLFlatten = 0
    SQLItemTrim = 0
    SQLJoinTrim = 0
    UseOptimizerHints = 0
If value of SQLFlatten is 1 then Discoverer will merge inline views in
the query SQL where ever possible.
In case of SQLItemTrim, Discoverer will remove unused folder items from
the query SQL where possible and for SQLJoinTrim Discoverer will remove
unnecessary joins from the query where possible.
UseOptimizerHints will add Optimizer hints to SQL if set >
0.Unnecessarily making Discoverer perform these checks consumes
resources and rather than increasing the performance may reduce the same. So unless you feel these checks have to be performed depending on
requirements, assign zero to these parameters.
    7. When Discoverer builds a query, Discoverer makes a database security
check to confirm that the user has access to the tables referenced in
the folders. Avoiding this check can save time.
So in pref.txt underDatabase section add:
    ObjectsAlwaysAccessible = 1
    8. Whenever you are creating conditions, ensure that you match the Case.
This in turn can reduce the time Discoverer spends on changing the Case
    and matching.
    For example:
    option Upper(Department) in (Upper('VIDEO SALES')
    9. Ensure that summaries are refreshed periodically in Discoverer
    Administrator.
    10. Increase the amount of memory available for the Discoverer data cache. Please refer to <<Note 245752.1>>, Explaining Oracle BI Discoverer
    Session Memory Management
    And Server Cache Settings.
    11. Performance may be enhanced by enabling OracleAS Web Cache.

    Hello,
Is it possible to change the discoverer report default export path destination?
    Thank you
    Sarah

    Hi,
Kindly refer to MOS [ID 438598.1] "How To Change The Default Export Location For Discoverer Plus 10g (10.1.2)"
and "How to Change The Default Export Path For Discoverer Plus 10.1.2 [ID 365245.1]"
basically they explain the you can change the path in the pref.txt file and this is for all the discoverer users.
Also you can workaround it by following these steps:
    1. Navigate to Control Panel >> Java >> Java tab >> Java Runtime environment settings >> View button
    2. Set the run-time setting to be added in the "Runtime-Parameter" section
-Duser.home="c:\Documents and Settings\<should be change to real Windows user name>\Desktop"

  • Dynamic Selection on report not working

    Dear all,
I have several reports on which the dynamic selection is not working. For instance, the report CN43N. The report is outputting all data in a year i.e it is disregarding the condition I specified in the dynamic selection fields.
Is there some configuration to make to this report so that the dynamic selection works?
    Thanks for ur help.
    Nas

    Also Nelmaz,
I have just checked OSS notes and found below note helpful to you:
Note 1059465 - CN43N: Dynamic selections for scheduling data of WBS elemnts
    Symptom
You cannot use transaction CN43N to create dynamic selections for scheduling data of WBS elements (table PRTE). You can use transaction CNS43 to do so.
    Hope this helps.
Please assign points as way to say thanks

  • Dynamic selections in Report category

I am trying to create a dynamic selection view for a report category, while doing so i am not able to add any table to table dialog that appears, when i enter PA0001 it says PA0001 is not a table. Same problem for any table i try to insert.
Can anyone help me with a solution.
    Thanks in advance.

In transaction SE80, i selected "edit object" button -> in the screen that pops-up i selected the tab "more"
In that tab i selected radio button "Selection View" and then selected create button
Then  "Create Selection View" screen appears, there i selected CUS View, checked radio button "for any tables" and gave a name of view 'ZTEST' and pressed the continue button, A screen appears to enter tables, when i enter any table it gives the message Table not found.
When i try in other systems it works, not sure of the problem in our dev system.
    Thanks,
    Thirumal

  • Dynamically select detail report for a master report link item or button?

I'm still new to APEX, so apologies if this sounds like a stupid question, but so far I can't find anything online about how to do the following.
I have a simple report, and I want to be able to drill down from here to a detail report via a link item (or a button) in each row. The problem is that the specific detail report to use depends on a combination of values in the parent record.
So if I have a parent record in the master report with values for columns 1/2/3 of A/B/C, I would drill down to a detail report against table X. If my parent record has values of D/E/F, I might drill down to a different detail report against table Y.
I can build the individual reports easily enough, and I can set up a link item in the master report to drill down to a hard-coded detail report page. I can even generate the name (alias) of the relevant target report as an extra non-DB item in each row of the parent report. But I can't figure out how to allow each row in the parent report to actually link to a different detail report dynamically, depending on the contents of the parent row.
Can anybody suggest an easy way to do this, or point me towards an online resource that would explain how to do this (preferably in basic terms that this APEX-newbie can understand)?
    Thanks for your help!

    Hi,
When you say "Detail report" do you just mean a normal report of the child records for the selected master record or a tabular form style "Details report"?
Using different reports on a page would, typically, depend on the value in a hidden page item - for example, P1_REPORT_TYPE. Your link could pass an appropriate value into this item and the second page would then use this as a Condition for each of the report regions - each region being conditionally displayed when the hidden item is a specific value.

  • Dynamic Selection of Report Column Format

Is it possible to dynamically set the number format on a report column? I thought it would be as easy as setting the 'Number/Date Format' to a session state variable such as &NUMBER_FORMAT. However, when I tried this the column returned the following value ##########.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    David

OK, this is a favorite hack of mine combined with Sergio's suggestion. Essentially, we select the column twice, display it with one column using Sergio's idea and sort it on another hidden and unformatted copy of the column (hope I didn't lose you yet):
    1) Add another column of the same source to the query and give it an alias:select ename,to_car(sal,'&NUMBER_FORMAT.') sal,sal sal_sort
from emp2) Edit the report > report attributes > sal_sort column attributes. In the HTML Expression field, type #SAL#.
    3) On the report attributes page, unclick the "Show" column for sal.
Now you are displaying the SAL column in the SAL_SORT column allowing the reporting engine to properly sort the column based on the unformatted SAL_SORT. I use this technique a lot for quarters. I'll show Q105, but it's sorting on an actual date behind the scenes.
    Happy hacking!

  • Dynamic seleciton in report variant FBL1N

    Hi,
    Problem Description
I am trying use dyanamic selection in report variant of FBL1N but its not working.
    My working
I am using dyanamic date variant.
In the selection screen of FBL1N, we have posting date in dynamic selections.
While creating a variant for the selection screen of FBL1N, I am selecting Posting Date of dyanamic selection and choosing selection variant as "D" (D: Dynamic date calculation) along with Current Date as variable.
However system is not accepting this and the current date is not coming up while choosing this variant.
    Solution required
Can anyone please help me out with dyanamic date calculation in dates from dynamic selection in report FBL1N.
    Thanks,
    Nitish

    Dear
You did not specify in which version you are working.  If you are in new GL instead of using FBL1N you can as well use T.Code S_AC0_52000888 and here you can make dynamic selections.

  • Parallel export/Import for exchange directory

    Hi,
We have executed the homogeneous system copy(Win08/Ora 11) on ECC6 EHP4 and in order to speed up the process i have selected the parallel export/Import option on target system as export on source system is been executing by some other vendor.
During Import abap phase it's displaying as" waiting -- mins for packahe data in exhange directory" as i have provided the path during input phase of "communication parameters for Import" in Exchange directory as <export directory>/Data.
is this correct path and i have read some where that <TABART>.SQL  will be generated if on source system the same parallel expot/import option has enabled. And i couldn't find *.SQL files on export directory.
Does it mean that guy who is executing on source system has not consider this option/not generated the SQl file with SMIGR_CREATE_DDL ?
NB: i am executing import with SAPINST
    Regards,
    Dheeraj

    Dear Dheeraj,
Kindly check in the export directory path, whether <package>.SGN files been generating or not .
Also, we can check in exportmonitor.log.After export of individual pacakge, log says package transfered to network share directory.Even if it not merntions in log, parallel exp/imp not possible
If it generates, parallel import will happen; If not, it will not.
Its nothing to do with SQL files.

  • Dynamic Selections in FBL5N

    Hi All,
We are facing a problem while using the transaction FBL5N (Customer line item display) along with its dynamic selections. Along with the existing selections we would like to include the payment terms in the selection criteria which is available in the company code data of the dynamic selections.
The problem is even if we use this there is no effect on the report i.e. the data is not filtered (Say I have chosen not to get payment terms with a value 'XYZ' but the report is displaying these..). But at the same time if we use the document date in the dynamic selection, the report is working fine, the extracted data meets the selection criteria.
Can somebody help us out here, if we have to include some notes or any LDB's which might help us?
    Thank You.
    Rgds,
    Narendra

    Thanks Julius....
Moving it to the top...would help if anyone can provide some info about this....

  • OBPM4 - Variant with dynamic selection

    Hi Experts,
I'm using the FBPM transaction (report SAPFPAYM). I have created the variant in OBPM4, in the variant I have insert the dynamic selection for Value Date.
When I run the report  SAPFPAYM, the report does not work. If I delate this dynamic selection the report works correctly.
    Could you help me?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Giampaolo

    Hi Jyothi,
I have inserted in the variant the dinamic variant selection "Value Date" or only a value date:
When I run the report I have this message:
"No Payment Media Created in Format FR_ETEBAC_VRT-ETR
    Message no. BFIBL02159
    Diagnosis
No payment media were created for format FR_ETEBAC_VRT-ETR for payment group
    100"
If I delate the value date or value date dinamic parameter, the report works correctly.
    Do you have any suggestion?
    Thans a lot

  • Discoverer Report Ownership and Exports

We are currently upgrading to R12 from 11.5.10 and I’m looking to migrate discoverer with it. The environment and set up of disco has been completed however there are a few issues around migrating the existing reports and EUL I’m not sure about. I would appreciate some views / advice on the following:
    1) We have reports owned by a lot of people across the organisation, many of these I cant see as the discoverer admin user (but can from the DB tables), meaning I cant migrate them as .eex without getting the owner to share the reports out to out disco admin user.
    2) For the ones I can see if I import them I get a message in the log that I cant modify a report I don’t own, whilst taking ownership by saving the report is an option, the report must then be visible to the original owner in the new environment so requires sharing with them (but done for 700+ reports)
    3) I need to migrate associated EUL objects with the reports however without going through each report manually I cant see which reports are dependant on which EUL object (I assume this is available in the DB somewhere but I’m new to this so I’m still looking)
The method of exporting as .eex files and importing into the new environment doesn’t appear to be cutting it for this task. I have read there are ways to export or clone the EUL and reports as a whole however we don’t want to take everything across only a selection of reports from the old environment.
There must be a better way of migrating the required reports and associated EUL objects and resolving ownership and sharing?
    any help would be appreciated

Thanks for the replies – they are very helpful
I have been looking at the Java Command line interface and attempting to share out workbooks to my user on our DEV environment with some small success
    I tried the following:
    -connect EUL_US/EUL_US@DB –grant_privilage –workbook_access “WORK_BOOK_1” –roll “SOLHILL”
This gave me the following message:
“A Subdirectory or file . already exsits.”
    “Command Complete”
But didn’t appear to actually do anything, the workbook remains unshared
I played with the command and used the following:
    -connect DISCO_ADMIN_USER /pswrd@DB –apps_user –apps_responsibility “Discoverer_admin” –grant_privilage –
    workbook_access “WORK_BOOK_1” –roll “SOLHILL”
    This gave the following message
“A Subdirectory or file . already exsits.”
    “afenv: can’t open registry key”
    “afenv: can’t open registry key”
    “afenv: can’t open registry key”
    “afenv: can’t open registry key”
    …….(17 times)
    “Command Complete”
But did update the workbook and gave it the apps responsibility “Discover_admin” (not to the SOLHILL)
    So -
    1) In the Oracle Documentation it says the EUL_US (eul owner) needs some permissions granted such as “CREATE_TABLE” “CREATE_PROCEDURE” etc… is it possible that this is stopping the EUL_US login from updating the tables? if not any ideas why the command sucseeds but nothing happens?
    2) what’s incorrect about the second command line script that it doesn’t do as I intend?
    Thanks for your support
    Sol
