Automated Export

I am able to setup the automated export. It is not running, no error log/messages nor email notification. Not sure what's happening, it did work once on another db, but it is not working for my production db. Since it is preview
MS is not providing any support.

it might happens because of permissions.
the process failed if a copy of your current database cannot be made.
if your production db is a clone of a database and not created by the admin user you have to add permissions to it and then it will be able to backed up

Standard Edition automated export

I currently have a SQL Azure database using the old Web edition and have configured automated export. This is very useful for keeping long term daily backups. I am just trying out the new Standard edition and have found the automated export is disabled with
the message "Automated export is not supported for this database".
Please tell me this won't be a Premium only feature as it is the only current way to do an automated backup without the use of a third party tool.

The Automated Export (Preview) feature is not support in the new Basic and Standard tiers currently. For disaster recovery solution in Standard edition, you can try to use Database Copy and Manual Export.

AUTOMATED EXPORT FAILED

Hi Azure team,I received the below error mail for automated export.
"We recommend checking that the storage account is available, and that you can perform a manual export to that account. We will attempt to export again at the next scheduled time."1. May i know, What is this message conveying?2. Storage is not accessible during that time?
If yes is answer for 2nd question then please let me know why it was happened?and how could we overcome from this???Kindly help on this by providing suggestions.

Did the automated export works on the SQL Database? you can review the Import and export history in the SQL Database server.
The message showed in the mail indicates that automated export failed due to some reason. If your storage account is not accessible, the export may fail as the .bacpac file cannot be stored in the storage.

Automated export appearing on database list

Hello,
I have an Azure SQL Database (Web edition) with an automated export set for daily exports.
Sometimes (like today for instance) when I log into Azure management portal, I see an additional database listed with the name of my export.
As far as I know, an export should not be listed as a new available database, right?
Why this is happening and how can I fix that?

Thank you for asking this question.
The Automated Export service creates a database copy of the database you are exporting. It then will perform the export operation on the copy of the database. This is done to guarantee transaction consistency during the export. After the export has completed
the database copy will be deleted.

Could not load the automated export settings (Azure Portal)

We have several database setup with "Automated export". The export seems to be running ok, but I am unable to load the settings in the portal.
I get the "Could not load the automated export settings."
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to resolve this issue?

Sorry for the inconvenience.
As you know in the automated export first it create a temporary database(transaction consistent replica) in that server and then it is pushed to storage (which you have configured in the automated export). As per the error it seems that there are some
connectivity issue with the storage. If I am not wrong the error that you shared is from operation log of azure portal for sql database. I am not so much sure about the actual issue but yes we can try to nail down the issue. You can do a quick test of connectivity
through SSMS from your local machine.
open SSMS -->connect to local database -->select any database --> (right click) and go to Task and then export data tier application--> select save to windows azure and select the same container that you selected in the automated export
and check if export works or you are getting same error.
If it works then from same SSMS connect to sql azure Database and try the same steps with your database that is failing from the portal.
Please let me know the result.

Is the Azure DB automated export broken?

Recently I twice carefully adjusted the schedule of the Automated export of my Azure DB to my storage account. However, each time it created a new database instead. I am 100% sure I correctly adjusted the schedule as I have done a number
of times before. Apparently, the Automated export feature is broken.

Do you get any error messages on your email. Please specify.
When configure automated export operations for a SQL database, the account must be a server-level principal login or a member of the dbmanager database role. Please check the server login your sepcify in Automated Export configure tab.
What's more, Windows Azure Services has to be allowed to access the database. Windows Azure will first do a full copy of the database to a temporary database prior to creating the .bacpac file. To enable this, go to the "Configure" tab for the
database server and make sure the switch is set to "Yes".
I suggest you to follow these steps and let us know if the issue still persists.
Schedule an Automated Export
Log on to the
Azure Management Portal.
In the navigation pane, click on
SQL Databases. In the list view of SQL databases, click the name of the database you would like to schedule for automated exports.
Click the Configure tab, and then on
Export Status, click Automatic.
On the Automated Export work space, specify settings for the following parameters:
Storage Account
Frequency
Specify the export interval in days.
Specify the start date and time. The time value on the configuration work space is UTC time, so note the offset between UTC time and the time zone where your database is located.
Retention
Credentials for the server that hosts your SQL database. Note that the account must be a server-level principal login - created by the provisioning process - or a member of the
dbmanager database role.
When you have finished configuring the export settings, click
Save.
You can see the time stamp for the last export on under
Automated Export in the Quick Glance section of the
SQL Database Dashboard.
You can see the status and history of a scheduled export operation on the
History tab of the server Quick Start page.
To change the settings for an automated export, select the SQL database, click the
Configure tab, make your changes, and then click Save.

Automated Export Discoverer Graphics

Hello Everybody,
I need to find out IF and HOW it is possible to export graphics out of Discoverer 4.1.3.7 / 9i /10G to MSExcell in an automated way. In the online Help of Oracle Discoverer 10G I have found how to Export Graphics, but NOT in an AUTOMATED way.
Do I have to use Shell scripts (Linux) / batch programmes (Windows) to do this?
Any help will be much appreciated ;-)

Automator Export Action NOT WORKING.

I realize that double-posting is not typically a good thing, but this forum seems to get more activity than the Automator one, and it sort-of applies to both, so I'm posting here as well...
Basically, I cannot get the Export Images action to work. I get an error every time:
"Aperture got an error: NSInternalScriptError (8)"

Wow. I can't believe it, but that worked. I had JUST installed it (and had actually never tried the Automator thing) so I just did not assume that that could have been the problem.
Thanks a bunch for the help, Kevin. That was about as simple as it gets. It seems to be working just fine now.
(except it exports ALL of the images in a given album, i.e., the ones inside stacks as well. But hey, I can live with that. At least it works at all.)

Automator export preset error

We've created an automator workflow to resize images in aperture, rename and upload to FTP. To recap this saved 4 image sizes from originals and uploaded them via ftp after adding filename suffixes.This runs on the latest version of OS X Lion 10.7.2, Aperture 3.2.2 and Automator.
It has 4 x export presets defined in Aperture. These are Full, Banner, Grid and Thumbnail images at different sizes.
These presets work fine from Aperture. The workflow works OK when it is limited to one image. When we add more, the export presets all default to the same size. I've set it to 'show the action when the workflow runs' – this shows an incorrect preset being applied at each stage…
Any ideas why the presets are not being correctly remembered by the workflow?

Automating export versions after sorting a photoshoot - advice please!!!

I'm about to embark on a location shoot and I'm looking for workflow / automation advice which will help me to reduce my post production hours.
I'm using a Nikon dSLR, Aperture and a MacBook Pro 15inch. My knoweldge of Aperture is fairly basic although I am an intermediate to advanced mac user.
Background:
Within the week's shoot I'll end up shooting approximately 1000 RAW images, of which all are imported into thier own specific album within the project, represent ing one of about 25 locations which make up the shoot. At the end of each day I'll import, tag and make my selections: 'Selects' denoted by two stars (**), and 'Secondary' denoted by by one star (*).
The bit I need advice on:
The flight home is about 8hrs, of which I wish to conclude all my post production, including output. I wish to automate the latter part to save me a lot of pointing, clicking and generally sitting about to wait for each album to export.
Final export is 1500x (or similar), 8 bit jpg, sRGB colourspace.
I wish export all shots with one click to folder structure like the example below. Which I'll then burn to CD and pass to the client:
South America Photo Shoot (name of PROJECT)
--> Hotel (name of first ALBUM in above PROJECT)
---->Selects (containing all ** shots in above ALBUM)
---->Secondary (containing all * shots in above ALBUM)
--> Beach (next name of ALBUM in above PROJECT)
---->Selections
---->Seconday
..and so on for each of the locations.
Any advice on how I can automate the output side of this project would be very welcome - I'll be reusing this workflow on multiple trips.

You're going to need some AppleScript experience for this one, and also to change your Album structure a bit.
Go to http://www.bagelturf.com/aparticles/tips/tipprint/index.html and copy the AppleSCript from about half way down the page. The script will export all images that are in Albums in a given Project, making a folder structure in the Finder that echoes your Aperture structure of Sub-folders and Albums.
You'll need to change your structure to something like:
South America Photo Shoot (name of PROJECT)
--> Hotel (FOLDER in above PROJECT)
---->Selects (ALBUM in 'Hotel' folder)
---->Secondary (ALBUM in 'Hotel' folder)
--> Beach (next name of FOLDER in above PROJECT)
---->Selects (ALBUM in 'Beach' folder)
---->Secondary (ALBUM in 'Beach' folder)
With some careful setting up, you should be able to make Smart Albums for all of the Albums, using keyword and rating searches.
Also, you will need to make a new export preset to fit your 1500px sRGB requirements, and copy the name of that preset into the AppleScript.

Automator Export for iPod

Hey everyone,
Anybody have any ideas (or know of any downloadable workflows) for automating Quicktime Pro to open files and export them in a specified format? Specifically I'm hoping to export home videos for my iPod.

For $10 and given the QT workflow and codecs etc., is a pretty big mystery to most folks, if it works as claimed it is probably (or something like it) the best choice for most users. There will still be a lot of people with non conforming AVI and MPEG's that will need something else.
One thing for sure unless you want the "best" whether you can see it nor not, the H264 codec is probably overkill for Ipod and so slow vs. MP4.
I have to say the forum for this Podner program is very informative and offers fast response (including testing non compliant files) - that alone for people unfamiliar with video transcoding might make it worth it.

Automating Export/Import of CSV Files

Thought I would ask here for any advice or suggestions because my knowledge is lacking in this area a bit.
What I need:
An automated process, whether it be 3rd party s/w or a cron job, that can export a few tables to csv's and then xfer the file to another server.
At this point i will need a process that can take that csv and automatically load it into a different oracle DB.
Any suggestions on good software to use or scripts to run would be a great start to my research. thanks

You can simply write some sql scripts to generate csv file and you can connect from remote server to run this sql scripts and it will generate csv file on target server. What you need to do is configure your tnsnames.ora to connect to your source server from target server. Meaning from target server you should be able to sqlplus in.

Automator export option?

I've got like 20 movies i want to export for the iphone, but the only option in automator is for ipod or appletv. anybody know how to get an iphone export option in there?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
But invariable, the smaller picture, in full size, is not smooth, and you can see all the pixels.
By full size do you mean at it's pixel dimensions or enlarged to fill the iPhoto window? When you resize a photo via the Export menu option you're taking the image and reducing the pixels for each dimension by half. If you display that new image at its new size it will look good. If you display that same image full screen or at a size larger than the actual pixel dimensions it will look pixelated and jaggy. You can't take an 800 x 600 pixel image and display it at the same size, say a frame in an iPhoto book, and have it look as good as the original 1600 x1200 pixel file. (If this is not what you're referring to then this post will self destruct in 5 seconds Mr. Phelps.)

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.

Automated exports to excel

is there anyway to have a scheduled report - automatically export to excel and email the attachment to a distribution list?
is there another tool i can use in conjunction with discoverer to get this to work.

Please do the folowing...
1. Install Discoverer on a server/ PC which will never be shut down
2. Install a programm called WINAT (or any other Event scheduler ) also on the server.
3. Create a batch file which will invoke Discoverer, open an wbook and sheet from the databse, execute it and get it to export the result as an EXCEL to a folder on the Server. Sample code is ...

4. Create yet an another batch file which will pick up this excel file and email it to an email group.
We have been successfully sending out Excel version of a critical report to a set of people every week day morning at 5:00 am using the above route.
