Is the Azure DB automated export broken?

Recently I twice carefully adjusted the schedule of the  Automated export of my Azure DB to my storage account.  However, each time it created a new database instead.  I am 100% sure I correctly adjusted the schedule as I have done a number
of times before. Apparently, the Automated export feature is broken.
Mike McIver

Hi Mike,
Thanks for posting here.
Do you get any error messages on your email. Please specify.
When configure automated export operations for a SQL database, the account must be a server-level principal login  or a member of the dbmanager database role. Please check the server login your sepcify in Automated Export configure tab.
What's more, Windows Azure Services has to be allowed to access the database. Windows Azure will first do a full copy of the database to a temporary database prior to creating the .bacpac file. To enable this, go to the "Configure" tab for the
database server and make sure the switch is set to "Yes".
I suggest you to follow these steps and let us know if the issue still persists.
Schedule an Automated Export
Log on to the
Azure Management Portal.
In the navigation pane, click on
SQL Databases. In the list view of SQL databases, click the name of the database you would like to schedule for automated exports.
Click the Configure tab, and then on
Export Status, click Automatic.
On the Automated Export work space, specify settings for the following parameters:
Storage Account
Frequency
Specify the export interval in days.
Specify the start date and time. The time value on the configuration work space is UTC time, so note the offset between UTC time and the time zone where your database is located.
Retention
Credentials for the server that hosts your SQL database. Note that the account must be a server-level principal login - created by the provisioning process - or a member of the
dbmanager database role.
When you have finished configuring the export settings, click
Save.
You can see the time stamp for the last export on under
Automated Export in the Quick Glance section of the
SQL Database Dashboard.
You can see the status and history of a scheduled export operation on the
History tab of the server Quick Start page.
To change the settings for an automated export, select the SQL database, click the
Configure tab, make your changes, and then click Save.

  • Could not load the automated export settings (Azure Portal)

We have several database setup with "Automated export". The export seems to be running ok, but I am unable to load the settings in the portal.
I get the "Could not load the automated export settings."
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to resolve this issue?

    Hello Ballistic2,
    Sorry for the inconvenience.
As you know in the automated export first it create a temporary database(transaction consistent replica) in that server and then it is pushed to storage (which you have configured in the automated export). As per the error  it seems that there are some
connectivity issue with the storage. If I am not wrong the error that you shared is from operation log of azure portal for sql database. I am not so much sure about the actual issue but yes we can try to nail down the issue. You can do a quick test of connectivity
through SSMS from your local machine.
open SSMS -->connect to local database -->select any database --> (right click) and go to Task and then export data tier application--> select save to windows azure and select the same container that you selected in the automated export
and check if export works or you are getting same error.
If it works then from same SSMS connect to sql azure Database and try the same steps with your database that is failing from the portal.
Please let me know the result.
    Regards,
    Mukesh

  • Standard Edition automated export

I currently have a SQL Azure database using the old Web edition and have configured automated export. This is very useful for keeping long term daily backups. I am just trying out the new Standard edition and have found the automated export is disabled with
the message "Automated export is not supported for this database".
Please tell me this won't be a Premium only feature as it is the only current way to do an automated backup without the use of a third party tool.

    Hello,
The Automated Export (Preview) feature is not support in the new Basic and Standard tiers currently. For disaster recovery solution in Standard edition, you can try to use Database Copy and Manual Export.

  • Why is the community filtering/search so broken

Why  is filtering/search in the Visual Studio community so broken?
If I try to limit the scope of my question ("task board") to one forum ("Visual Studio Online") - it seems to be impossible to do:
If I enter "task board" in the right hand search field and click search - I get a lot of irrelevant crap about TFS.
If I then go to the left hand side and enter "Visual Studio Online" -- .... NOTHING HAPPENS
    OTOH
If I start with "Visual Studio Online" selected in the left hand column (and I can only get there by entering it, the Delete "x" on the forlum lst doesn't seem to work)
Then I select the Azure subsection/forum
And the system now shows only "Visual Studio Online" as my forum search
I then go to the right hand search box and enter "Task board"  - and voila!!! ALL the forums are search and all the same crap about TFS shows up

    Hello Karl,
    Welcome to MSDN forum.
Your issue is out of support range of VS General Question forum which mainly discusses
the usage of Visual Studio IDE such as WPF & SL designer, Visual Studio Guidance Automation Toolkit, Developer Documentation and Help System

  • AUTOMATED EXPORT FAILED

Hi Azure team,I received the below error mail for automated export.
"We recommend checking that the storage account is available, and that you can perform a manual export to that account. We will attempt to export again at the next scheduled time."1. May i know, What is this message conveying?2. Storage is not accessible during that time?
If yes is answer for 2nd question then please let me know why it was happened?and how could we overcome from this???Kindly help on this by providing suggestions.

    Hello,
Did the automated export works on the SQL Database? you can review the Import and export history in the SQL Database server.
The message showed in the mail indicates that automated export failed due to some reason. If your storage account is not accessible, the export may fail as the .bacpac file cannot be stored in the storage.

  • Automated Export

I am able to setup the automated export.  It is not running, no error log/messages nor email notification.  Not sure what's happening, it did work once on another db, but it is not working for my production db.  Since it is preview
MS is not providing any support.

    Hi
it might happens because of permissions.
the process failed if a copy of your current database cannot be made.
if your production db is a clone of a database and not created by the admin user you have to add permissions to it and then it will be able to backed up

  • Automated export appearing on database list

    Hello,
I have an Azure SQL Database (Web edition) with an automated export set for daily exports.
Sometimes (like today for instance) when I log into Azure management portal, I see an additional database listed with the name of my export.
As far as I know, an export should not be listed as a new available database, right?
Why this is happening and how can I fix that?
    Thank you,
    Igor
.NET Software developer for industrial internet and automation system.

    Hello Igor,
Thank you for asking this question.
The Automated Export service creates a database copy of the database you are exporting. It then will perform the export operation on the copy of the database. This is done to guarantee transaction consistency during the export. After the export has completed
the database copy will be deleted.
You can learn more about Import/Export and Automated Export here https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/azure/hh335292.aspx
Additionally if you are interested in our Basic, Standard, or Premium service tiers, they come with built-in restore capabilities.
You can learn more about these capabilities and other business continuity capabilities here https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/azure/hh852669.aspx
If you would like to share more about your scenario or discuss Azure SQL Database's backup and restore capabilities in further detail please email me at Elfish at Microsoft dot com.
Thanks and I hope this helps,

  • New Version of the Azure Active Directory Module and PowerShell 2.0

Since the last upgrade of the Azure Active Directory Module for Windows PowerShell (64-bit version), we are no longer able to load it in an application targeting .NET Framework 3.5 SP1. The error message that we receive is:
Could not load file or assembly 'file:///C:\Windows\system32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\Modules\MSOnline\Microsoft.Online.Administration.Automation.PSModule.dll' or one of its dependencies. This assembly is built by a runtime newer
than the currently loaded runtime and cannot be loaded.
Our application loads and uses the Azure AD PowerShell Module for Azure AD management. The previous version of the module available until September worked well, however, we cannot use the new version because it is built using the .NET Framework 4.0 runtime,
and our application targets .NET Framework 3.5 SP1.
The link for the old version of the module was removed, and since the EULA for the module restricts us from making the old version available on our web site, we need a solution that would enable us
to load the module in our application because we cannot retarget the application to a newer Framework version. In particular,
we need a link that our customers can use to download the old version of the module.
Is there a URL to the old version of the Azure Active Directory Module that we can download the old version from? Can someone help?

    Hi Vladimir,
Since I'm not familiar with AZure AD, to get the old version of Azure AD Module, I also recommend you can post in Azure AD forum for more effective support:
    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/azure/en-US/home?forum=WindowsAzureAD
However, for the error you posted, as you said, this is related to .NET version.
I found a similar error, which was solved by upgrading the Powershell version 3.0 on Server 2008 R2 sp1, which also need to update the .NET version on server.
Active Directory Single sign-on Office 365 Powershell Error
If there is anything else regarding the powershell, please feel free to post back.
    Best Regards,
    Anna Wang
Anna, yep upgrading to version 3.0 simple solve the issue. But WMF 3.0 is not compatible with few things like
    SharePoint 2010, Exchange 2007 , SCCM etc.
WMF 3.0 has the same .NET version so how about making a configuration file in version 2.0
I am not really sure if Azure support this but its worth to make your configuration file to support .NET 4.0
$PShome\PowerShell_ISE.CONFIG and $PSHOME\PowerShell.exe.config will be not existing.
So you can make an entry in configuration to support .NET framework 4.0
    like shown below
    $config_text = @"
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <configuration>
    <startup useLegacyV2RuntimeActivationPolicy="true">
    <supportedRuntime version="v4.0.30319"/>
    <supportedRuntime version="v2.0.50727"/>
    </startup>
    </configuration>
    $config_text| Out-File $pshome\powershell.exe.config
    $config_text| Out-File $pshome\powershell_ise.exe.config
Close PowerShell Console and open as administrator.
Try loading the modules back and let me know.

If I am to try Add-AzureAccount, it will open up a browser for me to enter the credentials. But it is not possible for me to store credentials at any place.
Kindly help me out with this Guys!!
    Thanks a lot in advance!!!

    Hi,
Are you sure remove-azuresubscription wasn't run, or perhaps the subscription data file wasn't somehow removed between the sessions.
Try Add-AzureAccount command which Authenticates a user through Windows Azure Azure Active Directory and downloads the subscriptions associated with the account.
If you still continue facing the same issue, I suggest you to remove the subscription using remove-Azuresubscription and use import-AzurePublishSettingsFile alone but not Add-AzureAccount.

Hi, I am having a little trouble with exporting images to another drive and Catalogue and need some help if anyone can give me some advice
I am currently using Lightroom 5.6 and operating on a Mac with OSX Ver 10.9.5.
I am receiving an error problem when doing the following -
I am exporting selected photos from a particular Catalogue saved on Drive 1 to a folder created on another Drive where a Lightroom Catalogue has been created. In this Catalogue I have arranged for the images once exported to be moved to a different folder - I used the Auto Import process under the File dialogue box.
When processing the Export I receive an error message for each of the images being exported indicating the following -
    Heading Import Results
Some import operations were not performed
Could not move a file to requested location. (1)
then a description of the image with file name
    Box Save As                                  Box  OK
If I click the OK button to each image I can then go to the other Catalogue and all images are then transferred to the file as required.
To click the OK button each time is time consuming, possibly I have missed an action or maybe you can advise an alternative method to save the time in actioning this process.
Thanks if you can can help out.

Thank You, but this is a gong show. Why is something that is so important to us all so very, very difficult to do?

    Hey Mikael!
I actually was struggling through pretty much the same things at the same time that you were.
The EventTriggered extension is actually in the Microsoft.Azure.AppService.ApiApps.Service namespace, so without a using directive for that it will not be happy.
I created a library to help with the metadata generation required for Triggers, and did a write-up on exactly what it takes to create both a polling and push trigger (with a few more samples) here: https://github.com/nihaue/TRex#building-a-polling-trigger-api-app
    Hopefully having that combined with
    the official docs, and also
Sameer's sample can get you on the right track.
    Hope that helps!

  • SharePoint Provider Hosted App (401) Unauthorized Microsoft.SharePoint.SPException: The Azure Access Control service is unavailable

    Hello,
I'm attempting to get a SharePoint 2013 Provider Hosted Application working in a brand new SharePoint environment.  I've created snapshots of both my dev and the sharepoint environments along the way and have meticulously documented every step of the
way.  I've followed these instructions (among many other resources found along this journey) :
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/fp179923(office.15).aspx
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/fp161236(office.15).aspx
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/office/fp179901%28v=office.15%29
Upon package and publish of my application to SharePoint, I get a 401 Unauthorized error.  I use Fiddler to obtain the SPErrorCorrelationID to ultimately obtain the following ULS Viewer Output.  Please explain how to fix if you're able.
Please Note:  I was under the impression that a Provider Hosted Application does not use the Azure Access Control service, so I'm confused as to why my system is attempting to make this connection?
Also Note:  I've used a self signed and godday obtained certificate to successfully f5 debug my basic web.title (out of the visual studio 2012 box) sharepoint provider hosted application... so I know my certs are good.
    Here's my ULS output:

Yes, actually - I was able to resolve it.
However I don't know how, unfortunately.  I suspect it was because I needed to have the names of the certificates, defined during the certificate registration (to sharepoint) process, different.
I have a complete document that shows step by step instructions on the exact process I took to complete the provider hosted application creation, deployment and publishing.  It was a daunting task, but I finished it successfully.
If there's a way to send private message on this forum, please do so and I'll respond with a way to obtain my document.
NOTE:  I'm not all impressed with the way this forum works.  This is supposed to be a Microsoft resource and I'll be damned if I ever get a response to highly technical questions.  Completely lame.  Boooooo Microsoft.

  • Is it possible to make the entire keywords hierachy export in the metadata?

I have created the following Keyword hierarchy in Aperture:
Location, Europe, Eastern Europe, Croatia, Dalmatia, Split
In Aperture I only need to add the bottom level 'Split' as a keyword and when I use the search function and insert a word from any of the higher levels (e.g. Croatia) It finds my picture.
My problem is that when I export that file the Keywords that get exported in the metadata is only the bottom level I first entered (ie Split). This is no use to me when using the files outside of aperture as I may still want to search at the higher levels.
Is there anyway to make the entire relevant keyword hierarchy be exported within the metadata without have to go back and add all the levels myself?

Unless things have changes, keywords are not hierarchical at all as a standard. The hierarchy in Ap is used just for managing keyword purposes only.
So it works within Ap but not when exported. You will have to assign multiple keywords or reestablish similar scheme in whatever other app that your are exporting the image to.
