Hi
I have a number of reports >100 that need to be refreshed each month
I am using Crystal reports XI professional edition and want to know how to either build a batch file to run them all, or if there are any tools I can use.
At the moment it is all done manually, which takes many many hours to do.
any advice would be gratefully recieved.

Preview and print a Crystal report prompted for the sa password

Dear All,
Our customer has Crystal report add-on to be installed. When we Preview and print a Crystal report, we got a window prompted for the sa password. Even we type in a correct password, it still says wrong password...
Every time when I open my report in Crystal Basic 2008 on the server, then go database expert >> My connections >> click + in front of the connection name, it asks my sa password. I type in my password then save and close. Next time when I open the report and go my connections, I have to type in my password again. This only happens on one customer.

1) All their SAP client workstation, they have to have use SQL2008 CD and install SQL Client on it
Correct, MS does NOT support MDAC or WDAC when connecting to SQL 2008.
2) Then go ODBC >> SQL Native Client 10.0 >> Create a new connection to SAP server. Should we use sa user or another use that has the same authorization as sa?
Correct again if they are also using ODBC to connect, as for using the sa account or creating a new one is up to you. I suggest creating a Crystal account with what ever rights your app needs, this way if tracing it turned on etc. you can confirm who is actually running the report.
3) Then from MY Crystal report, I have to use ODBC connection as well?
Just to clarify, if you created your reprots using OLE DB then they can do so also. But you need to update your connection properties. Open each report click on Database, Set Location, scroll down to OLE DB and expand and then choose MS SQL Server Native 10 as your OLE DB provider, fill in all the logon info and then verify the database. Do the same for each subreport also.
Save your report and either send them the new one or if you are doing this remotely then replace the original report.
VERIFY your reports to confirm they still return correct data and do work as expected.
Or if you are using ODBC then yes you do select the MS 10 driver with a new DSN. Then do the above to update the reports to all use ODBC as their data sources.

Error in Preview and Print in Crystal Report Viewer 2.0.0.7 in Workstation

Hi Guys,
I am encountering a problem when clicking preview and print in Crystal Report Viewer 2.0.0.7. It returns an error
Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue the application will ignore and attempt to continue. If you click quit, the application will close immediately. Load report failed.
I already install the runtime crruntime_120_mlb, . net framework 3.5 sp1 and the add-on itself. The viewer is working properly in SAP Server. My version of SAP is SBO 2007 A SP00 PL10.

Programmatically create objects and formulas in Crystal Reports XI Developer edition?

<p>Is it possible to programatically/dynamically create a text, line, formula field object, etc. in Crystal XI Developer edition? I have been programming with the Crystal .Net reports component that came with VS 2005 for the past 6 months and know for a fact you can't programmatically create those objects although you can programmatically control their properties. My intention is to create a dynamic report that can be reused extensively. My current work-around for this was to create a generic report with about 40 formula field objects which draws data from 40 corresponding formula fields that I can programmatically set it's formula thus imitating a report field. I want to update to the developer edition because I heard with this edition we can programmatically create and manipulate these objects but I found no reference or examples anywhere that proves we can do this? Does anyone know for a fact or point me to the right place to look for documentation? TIA</p>

How can I programmatically refresh list of values status on CR server XI R2?
Currently, after I modified the data source in the data connection, some of the LOVs in the report prompt window became empty when I tried to generate the report. I have to use Business View Manager to log onto the Crystal reports server XI R2, find and double click the list of values object to bring up the Edit LOV window, and then click on "Refresh Status" button to make the LOV available in the report prompt window.
What SDK should I use to create a simple application (preferable a desktop application) to find all LOV objects on CR server XI R2 and to refresh their status? That is an application similar to the "Refresh Status" function in Business View Manager.
I found Report Engine SDK has the Lov.Refresh function to refresh LOV. On the other hand, Report Engine SDK seems to be for BusinessObjects Enterprise, not for Crystal Reports Server. Can this or other function achieve what I want, i.e. to refresh list of values status on CR server XI R2? If yes, can I use it to develop a self-contained desktop application instead of a web application? I only need to run this application after I modify the data source in the data connection, so I prefer not need to deploy it as a web service.

Automatic Refresh not happening on BAM Report in Active Viewer

Hi,
I am on SOA 11.1.1.4 and is connecting to an External Datasource (Oracle Database) to create Data objects. But when i am creating a report on it, I am not able to see the report in Active viewer getting refreshed automatically instead I have to Reprompt for the changes. I want the reports to automatically refresh after an interval, any help will be highly appreciated.

Is your popup blocker turned off? I can only imaging that the popup blocker may be keeping the Live Data window from appearing and updating the dashboard. Active Studio doesn't do a Live update, but an update on report load.

Automatic reimport of subreports on Crystal Reports Server 2008

Hi,
if I import a subreport into a report, there is IMHO an option "automatic reimport when opening". Does this work also if I upload both report and subreport to a Crystal Reports Server 2008? If so, on which base does the report find the subreport (relative path, UUID?) ?

I think if its supported for Crystal Designer then should be supported on Server also.

When i unistall and again install a fresh Crystal report for .Net 4.0 Its ok to generate only to pdf option when click to the print icon on crystal report viewer but in another computer it is promting the old fasion like "a dialog with many option" ,But if want to have a only option to generate only to pdf option what should i have to do when my project and crystal report is at Window server 2008 R2,Please suggest a requred answer?

Firefox will update in increments when you use such old versions. The best thing to do is to go to www.getfirefox.com, and download Firefox 19.0.2. This is going to be much faster than updating to 3.0.19, then to 3.6, then 12, then 19 (which is the current process).

Connect SAP R/3 and BW to Crystal Reports

I am trying to connect crystal reports to SAP R/3 and BW
I have installed the SAP XI Integration for SAP solutions kit. I have zipped all the files to a folder on my local machine. What do I need to do now to make this work? If anyone can give me a step by step direction that is easy, please let me know! I have a folder called Transports from the zipped file which has some files in it, however if someone can please explain where I need to go in either crystal or SAP that would be extremely helpful, thanks!

it would actually help if you would share the error message here as well.
You need Crystal Reports 2008, INtegration Kit for SAP and BusinessObjects Enterprise.
correct - Transports are required as well and need to be installed.

Need help with adding formatted text and images to Crystal Report?

Here's my scenario:
I have a customer statement that's generated as a crystal report and that has a placeholder for advertisement. The advertisement is mixture of formatted text and images. Until now we only had one advertisement that was always used on the report. The new requirement is that we would have a pool of hundreds of advertisements and would need to display one specific advertisement on the customer statement based on various marketing criteria. They key is that the advertisement content will be determined programmatically and cannot be hardcoded into the report. I'm using Crystal2008 with .net SDK.
Here are the solutions I thought of, but I'm still rather lost and would appreciate your help/opinion.
1) Pass HTML or RTF to the report
Not really sure if this is possible and how to get it done. Also how would I pass in images? Would display formatting be reliable when exporting to PDF?
2) Create each add as a subreport and append it programatically
I actually have this working, but I only know how to append a new section to the end of the report and then load the subreport to the section. I have no other controll of the placement. Is there a way to dynamically load a subreport to a predefined section in the main report? How about adding a dummy subreport in the main report as a placeholder and then replacing it with a different subreport? How could I do this?
3) Pass an Image to the report
I would create each advertisement as an image and then would somehow add the image to the report. How would I load the image and control the placement? Could I somehow define a placeholder for the image in the main report-maybe a dummy image to be replaced?

I would got the third way.
You can use dynamic images in your report.
Just by changing the URL to the image the image can be changed.

My aol inbox does not automatically refresh and display new messages in firefox, but it does in google chrome. How do I fix this?

I have been trying to update settings to allow my aol mail to automatically refresh when new messages come in, vs having to click on the "inbox" in order to view new messages. I followed aol's troubleshooting steps to allow for this, and I finally got it to work in google chrome... but it will not automatically refresh in firefox. can you please help? thanks!

Missing records and history after Crystal Reports Server v0 to v1 upgrade

during the export and import a few things failed,
now i am hearing this from our report writers...
It looks like we still have some problems. Some reports that run and go to a file location failed. Error Message: destination DLL disabled. []: [CrystalEnterprise.Smtp]. Plus we didnu2019t get our alert email that these failed. When I looked at the instance manager and had it show recurring schedules it only came up with 61 instances. That is not correct when you consider that some reports have 30 instance each because of it going to multiple locations. One report that I know that runs daily, Broken Apptu2019s with appointments is missing its history and schedule recurrence.
Strange how some of the schedules are ok and others are gone.
can anyone help me? I hate crystal reports and I hate SAP this whole experiance has been a 3 month long nightmare.

Localization of CrossTab row and column label Crystal Report RPT file

Dear all,
Does anyone know how to support multiple locale texts (English and French) in CrossTab Row and Column Header labels and grand total labels? Is there a way to parameterize text objects CrossTab in one single Crystal Report RPT file to use some sort of locale resource file containing text string for different languages based on the users of RPT at runtime? The idea is to use one single RPT file to generate report for different locale text for CrossTab Row and Column abels and grand total labels instead of creating RPT files per locale?

Does the database have a column that identifies the language? If it does, then you could create two separate cross-tabs and place them in different sections and conditionally suppress the section depending on the language from the database.
That's the only thing that can be done in my opinion.

Access .mdb asking for login and password in Crystal Reports.

I am VERY new to Crystal reports and I am am having a Major problem running a VERY simple report.
First off I am using Visual Basic 2008 to create a Crystal Reports Application...
I am using the Report Wizard to create and the Northwind database as my database or OLE DB(ADO).
The provider I am using is the"Microsoft Jet 4.0 OLE DB Provider".
I am NOT entering a User ID or Password in the wizard and the Access file is NOT protected.
Everything seems to work fine and I can see the report in the "Main Report Preview" but when I start Debugging to see the report in the form it prompts for a User ID and Password....
If i type nothing and just hit finish it says "Logon Failed"
If i hit cancel no report is generated..
I have been messing with this for days now...
I have tried using Visual Basic 2010... Same results.
I have tried Office 2003, 2007, and 2010... Same results.
I Have uninstalled and reinstalled Visual Basic 2008...
