Automatically adjust vertical of page to fit vertical of view port

Looking for a CSS rule (or xhtml code) to make the the content of my page automatically adjust vertcially to the viewport height on any monitor. Using standard box model floated layout. Everything looks as I want, but I noticed that on a larger monitor there's space below my page content. The space is the background color / image, which is OK, but I wanted to see if there's a way to stretch the vertical page automatically.
Help greatly appreciated.
Tom

True Vertical Centering is more a print concept than a web concept.  I can show you how to force vertical centering in browsers but this technique isn't practical for use on full web sites.

A safer approach is to simply add some margins and padding to the top of your #container.

    You can download the trial version (http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-downloads.html) to convert the PDF back to WORD if you do not have the original. The conversion may not be perfect, but it is typically better than starting from scratch. You may be lucky and get a good result. You might check the settings (in the save screen) to try retain format versus retain text flow. The format version can be a pain to edit since it creates a bunch of text boxes. The flow version may require you to reformat in WORD, but you likely would want to do that anyway.

    You can use an extension to set a default font size and page zoom on web pages:

    How can I print half pages from iCal to fit in my Circa desk calendar?

    That depends on the program, but if it's Preview, go to Page Setup... under the File menu. Select the appropriate paper size there. Then go to File > Print... and do a Preview. If the content does not fit on the page, some printer drivers will have a Scale to Fit setting. If there is none, go back to Page Setup... and manually adjust the Scale until it fits nicely when you do a Preview.

  • Can you have a PDF fit on the viewer's screen automatically when exporting from InDesign CS4?

    Can you have a PDF fit on the viewer's screen automatically when exporting from InDesign CS4?

    If you were to upgrade to InDesign CS5 or CS5.5 and if you exported as Adobe PDF (Interactive), you could set the View settings for Page Layout and Zoom.
    While, as Jongware points out, its possible for individual users to override that option (Preferences > Page Display > Default Layout and Zoom), the number who will actually do that is actually very tiny.

  • When I click the launchpad, (I have icons on 2 pages) how do I return to the 1st set when the system seems to automatically shift to 2nd page?

    When I click the launchpad, (I have icons on 2 pages) how do I return to the 1st set after the system seems to automatically shift to 2nd page?.
    I'm not aware of anything I might have done, but it's annoying to want to use an icon on the 1st page, only to see all the icons on page 1 shift rapidly to the left
    and I can't find a way to shift back to page 1.
    Is there a way of getting all my Launchpad icons onto 1 page by adjusting their size?

    Thanks for that. I think the 2 little white dots were hidden by the white frame round the desktop picture on my screen
    As you can see from the pic, there is a broad white frame around the image.

  • Make iframe automatically adjust height according to the contents without using scrollbar?

    Hello,
    I am developing the site (www.meninasreais.com.br) and have a doubt. I created the base html - menu, header - in Adobe Muse. I'm trying to insert an iframe that automatically adjust the height according to the content of the blog.
    I tried with various codes, the frame is installed on the same domain as the site and none of them worked. What can I be doing wrong? Thank you.
    The code that was inserted below:
    <script language="JavaScript">
    <!--
    function autoResize(id){
        var newheight;
        var newwidth;
        if(document.getElementById){
            newheight=document.getElementById(id).contentWindow.document .body.scrollHeight;
            newwidth=document.getElementById(id).contentWindow.document .body.scrollWidth;
        document.getElementById(id).height= (newheight) + "px";
        document.getElementById(id).width= (newwidth) + "px";
    //-->
    </script>
    <IFRAME SRC="www.meninasreais.com.br" width="600px" height="200px" id="iframe1" marginheight="0" frameborder="0"onLoad="autoResize('iframe1');"></iframe>

  • Movie that will automatically open in "fit to screen" view mode?

    I'm wondering if it's possible to save a video in quicktime pro that will, when opened in any normal version of quicktime, automatically open in the "fit to screen" view option. In the visual settings tab of the movie properties, there is an option to automatically open into full screen, but this isn't what I want - I want it to open in the normal (non-fullscreen) quicktime window, but to automatically resize to fit the screen size of the computer it's being viewed on.
    I'm pretty sure that there isn't any easy way to do this, but it's pretty important, so if it requires some scripting or something, that's fine - i'm not a programmer, but i'm willing to do whatever i need to, to make this work.
    Thanks!

    The "Presentation" option is a bit confusing as there are "user" settings that each viewer could have set (double size, Fit To Screen, etc) in the QuickTime preferences and all of them will play with the "on screen" controls feature of version 7. So "full screen" is different because of the dozens of display settings that may be used and the same for "fit to screen".
    If you set the file dimensions too large for a small display setting the viewer will not be able to use the QuickTime controller (it could be "off screen).
    I just checked all my AppleScripts and Automator actions and none include "fit to screen" options. No luck there.
    If you set the movie dimensions (Visual Settings) to the "fit screen" size this would work on your display but maybe not on mine. To do that just open the Movie Info window with your file set to fit screen dimensions, note the size and adjust the file dimensions to those new values and "Save As".
    Easiest method for your workflow would be to send instructions for viewing to the end users.
    Keyboard shortcuts for QuickTime file display:
    Command-0 (zero) = half size
    Command-1 = normal size
    Command-2 = double size
    Command-3 = fit to screen
    Command-F = full screen (presentation mode)

    As long as you don't mind doing a little post publish editing of your .js files, it's fairly easy to do. You will find them in this path on your iDisk, using the Go menu in Finder:
    Go/iDisk/MyiDisk/Sites/iWeb/Nameofsitefolder/Page_filesFolder/Page.js
    Open the .js files for that particular page on your iDisk with any text editor (I like Taco, and it's free) and make the following changes to the script code that controls your movie: (you will find the movie code near the top of the page in the .js file)
    Change autoplay="false" to autoplay="true"
    Change loop="false" to loop="true"
    Changing controller value="true" to controller value="false" will remove the controller from the page entirely. Make these changes in both sets of tags, (object and embed).
    Make the changes and just "Save". Clear your browser cache and you should see the changes take effect immediately. Bear in mind you will have to make this modification each time you republish your site. You can also save this modified .js file and replace the republished file with it, as long as no other changes were made to the page in iWeb.

    In this particular case, I was on a page that offered group discounts ("deals") that can be purchased for a limited time. Please answer quickly since the deal I want to purchase expires in three hours!
