Automatically copy formulas to new row
How do I automatically copy formulas from the previous row to a newly created row in Numbers? Some of the templates included with Numbers 09, such as the Checking Register do this. I apologize if this question has already been asked and answered, but I have been unable to find the answer.

For sure, this question was asked and responded several times.
If every existing standard cells of a column contain the same formula, inserting a new row inserts automatically the same formula in the newly created cell of this column.

I'm new with Keynote and I'm sure there is an easy answer to this, but I certainly can't seem to find it. I'm putting together a boring, bulleted presentation and have adjusted the master slide to the format I want. Changed font, size, bullet indentation, etc. However when I add a new slide, none of the format from the prior slide is copied to the new slide, it reverts to the original master slide format.
Is there any way to not have to redo the formating for each slide? I tried to save as a Theme, but that didn't seem to work.

Min and Max and insert new rows

I am really a beginner in Excel (2007). I am not sure if this is the correct forum, anyway.
I have grouped some rows in a sheet (rows 1, 2 and 3, columns A and B, table below), some of the columns have numeric values in that group and I have a row (inside that group) that shows the maximum and minimum values (row 1):
A B
+ 1 43 12 <- MAX and MIN values for row 2 and 3 columns A and B
+ 2 34 12
+ 3 43 34
I am using MAX and MIN functions: A1 = MAX($A2:$A$3), B1 = MIN($B$2:$B$3)
The problem comes when I want to insert more rows after row 3, the formula keeps wrapping to A$2:$A$3 therefore I need to readjust the formula to: MAX($A2:$A$4) manually (for MIN is the same).

+ 4 98 10 <- New row, but the maximum and minimum continues to be the same, I want to extend the formula automatically to the 4 row when I insert the new row.
Question:
How can I extend the function of the MAX and MIN formula automatically when I insert new rows?
Please consider that I may insert rows at the beginning, in the middle or the end.

Based on the description, you want to modify the formula for the A1 and B1 cell when you insert a new rows.
Yes, we can use Worksheet.Change to dermin the change of data on the worksheet then we can modify the formula as we wanted. Here is a sample for your reference:

Can iOS Numbers copy formulas when adding new rows?
iOS Numbers table add row is not copying previous cell formulas. Is this supported or not?
I have a table with lots of columns and all of them have formulas. When I click at the lower left of the table to add a row, none of the new cells have the formulas. I have to manually go through every column and copy the formulas to the new row.
This is not very practical if you're planning to use Numbers on the go with an iPad. In my case, I have to quickly get a new row ready as needed. I was hoping there is a preference setting somewhere like "copy formulas when adding new row".I had the same issue with the added twist that I wanted to reference the created cells in formulas in other sheets. This is what works for me:
I use a form to enter data. The referenced sheet is set up like this:
1 Name Date ServPayment SalesPayment Total
2 Week1 =sum (ServPayment,SalesPayment)
3 =sum (ServPayment,SalesPayment)
4 TotWeek1 =sum (Total2,Total3)
"Total" sums the 2 Payments, TotWeek1 sums the totals.
In the entry form I never add data to the empty line. In this example, I would start at "Week1" and tap the "+" to add a new form. This creates the line in the referenced sheet with my formulas. As I continue, I always start at the last entry I have made and tap "+".
When I create a line that does not have the formula on either side, I do not get the formula.

I have a report that contains a table with a row for each week and columns containing totals for how many defects are in each state (i.e. Open, Verify, Closed). Each week I update the table and add a new row with the totals for that week. I also have a bar graph that displays this information graphically. Is it possible to create a formula that when I run the report it automatically creates a new row in the table and updates the totals rather than me having to do it manually? If I can do that I would then like to use a scheduler to automatically run the report each week. Thanks,Post Author: miwalker

Thanks Mavrick5. I was able to generate the correct date now, but I'm still having problems getting it to write on a new row. Row #1 will contain the running totals of each "state" for the week. I then want a new line generated when I run the report the following week with the totals for that specific week, and so on as the weeks progress. Right now it just keeps overwriting the first row. Is there a function I can use in the formula to get it to write to a new line? I've been looking through the forum but haven't found anything on this subject. Thanks, -
Can I make the table in Numbers automatically add new rows as I go?
I am working on a list of expenses with a total at the bottom but when I run out of rows, it doesn't add them in like Excel would. I am missing something?
If I understand what your problem is, you have something like
=SUM(A1:A5) for the sum, and when you add a new row to the bottom row (before the SUM), the formula doesn't change. It's still =SUM(A1:A5) even though now you have A6. So now you have a row which is "orphaned." This happens even when you have a footer row.
Use this instead:
=SUM(A)
That way when you add rows, the new rows will always be included in the sum. The footer row will not be included.
You can also use names. Like
=SUM(Sales) instead of the Column letter, if you have "Use header cell names as references" checked in preferences.
A new row will automatically be added above the footer row if you hit Return or Enter twice.

We have a PurchaseOrderHeaderView object and on click of Copy Purchase Order we want to copy a row in PURCHASE_ORDER_HEADER table to create a new row. We don't want to copy the primary key only the remaining fields.

MadhuriIf you use ADF BC, you can create a new row programatically via createRow and use a sequence to create the Id and use the "original" row (probably the current row in the view object) to copy the values from to newly created row. Then use insertRow and commit to create the copied row.

I am looking for a before or after trigger statement that will copy existing values inserted in the previous row into columns A & B. Then insert those values in a new row into column A & B if null? Same table. Hopefully my question is clear enough.

PierreI will call it a very Wrong design.
It is a wrong Table Design. You are duplicating the data in table and not complying with the Database Normalization rules.
How about Verifying if Column A & B are NULL before inserting and inserting another row and avoiding it in Triggers?
If you are bent to achieve this, below code might be helpful. However, I would never go with this approach. If you would care about explaining the reason for going ahead with such a data model, people could suggest better alternative that might conform with Normalization rules.

Its a matter of how you enter the formula (and not entirely intuitive). Do NOT manually add any quotes - Number does that for you. Just leave the text area blank for boolean value. If you actually type in the quotes, it reads them as a text value.

Repeating Table - Copy Row to New Row
Hi Everyone.
I am trying to accomplish something that sounds pretty straight forward but am losing my mind over it.
I have a repeating table that shows a list of students on a particular course. This is in a repeating table format with SQL Database as the data source (via filters).
I have a button on the repeating table that is labeled "Enter in Exam". This button should copy the row (Student Name, DOB etc.) to another repeating table (no data source).
How can I go about doing this? I'll need a new row created in the second repeating table every time "Enter in Exam" is clicked.

When the button is clicked (the button on Row of John Smith) I need this row and this row only to be copied to another repeating table.
If I then click the button on another row i.e. Steve Jones, I need this row to be copied to the same repeating table but placed under the John Smith row.

On My Wife's iPad 4, when she enters a note it is automatically copied to her Gmail email account. I can't get the settings right to do the same thing on my new iPad Air.
Any suggestions?Go into Settings>Mail,Contacts, Calenders then you need to click on your email and make sure you have the thing next to the word notes switch on.
Then they should sync over the iCloud

When the table is empty, if i collapse table's parent panel box i.e. pb1,
n again expand it..,I see new row created in the table...
I haven't put any code to create new blank row in table view object on collapse n expand of panel box...
How to fix this issue..?

Its not necessary to put the code in expand and collapse action of the panel box may it can be in different place
and the table may refersh while u expand /collapse the panel box and new row came to visible.... keep break point in the EntityImpl Create method or ViewObjectImpl InsertRow method

How to set a default value in an ADF table when adding a new row
Hi Guys,
I have a view object which I am using to create an ADF table. I also have a button which uses a CreateInsert binding to add a new row to the table. I have four fields: created_by, creation_date, last_update_by and last_update_date.
I want these values to be set automatically when I click add new row.
The values I want are:
created_by - admin
creation_date - sysdate
last_update_by - admin
lsat_update_date - sysdate
Any suggestions on how to do this would be appreciated

Those four fields can be set completely declaratively in the Entity Object (check out the History Colum feature). Copied from the (11g) documentation:
If you need to keep track of historical information in your entity object, such as when an entity was created or modified and by whom, or the number of times the entity has been modified, you specify an attribute with the History Column option selected (in the Edit Attribute dialog).
If an attribute's data type is Number, String, or Date, and if it is not part of the primary key, then you can enable this property to have your entity automatically maintain the attribute's value for historical auditing. How the framework handles the attribute depends which type of history attribute you indicate:
* Created On: This attribute is populated with the time stamp of when the row was created. The time stamp is obtained from the database.
* Created By: The attribute is populated with the name of the user who created the row. The user name is obtained using the getUserPrincipalName() method on the Session object.
* Modified On: This attribute is populated with the time stamp whenever the row is updated/created.
* Modified By: This attribute is populated with the name of the user who creates or updates the row.
* Version Number: This attribute is populated with a long value that is incremented whenever a row is created or updated.

Numbers 09 continuing formulas when adding rows
Numbers 09 - I have a checkbook template but when adding rows at the bottom the formulas do not continue. I have tried adding rows from the last row "Add row below" and also while in the last cell hitting return. Neither of these work. Any suggestions?

The rule is quite explicit: "If all the body cells in a column above the new row contain the same formula or cell
control, the formula or cell control is repeated in the new row."
So far there's been some information necessary to solving the problem missing from your posts. Please do the following, and supply the requested information:
Unhide ALL rows. There are two ways to do this, depending on what was done to hid them.
a. Click on the Reorganize button. If the checkbox beside "Show rows that match..." is checked, uncheck it.
b. If the checkbox is unchecked, or if there are still rows hidden after unchecking it, go to the Table menu and choose Unhide all Rows.
Click on any cell on the table to activate the table and show the Column and Row reference tabs. Hover the mouse over the tab for Row 1, then click the triangle that appears to open the local row menu. Repeat with rows 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 until you find the first row whose menu starts with the item shown below. Which row has this menu item on your table?:
Now click on cell G2 (the first cell containing a balance).
Select and Copy the whole formula from this cell. Paste it into your reply to this message.
Repeat step 3 with the formula from cell G3. Paste it directly below the formula from G2, using the example below as a guide:
