Automatically delete old website archives

Hello, my question is really simple, I didn’t find an answer myself. I perform weekly backups of my websites, but I was figuring out if there’s a way to tell Azure to delete old BLOB archives. For example to keep only the last 6 months
backups.

Deleting Old Catalogs Archives

Does anyone know if you can delete old catalog archives. I backup lightroom once a week, but I noticed that the copy each week has a large file size (around 150-200 MB), I have been using the program around 6 months and it is starting to chew up some hard drive space. Are you able to delete any of the older archive backups? Also, if so, does lightroom have an option to do this?

No, there is no option in Lightroom for how many backups of your catalog that you keep; and no button to purge/delete them either.
In a way Lightroom leads us into expecting this, but I would not be too bothered about it as a feature.
I would prefer Lighroom to concentrate totally on our needs for photography and not get bloated with file management, that is more easily done outside of the program.
If every program that we use gave us options to copy/replicate/duplicate files then we would be in big trouble.
So my 2 cents worth is to know where the files are and get rid of some that are hogging space or are not worth keeping.

Neither my local computer consultant nor I have been ableto change any of the settings in Time Machine to correct this problem. Working with the choices in the TimeMachine, there does not appear that there is any way to change the frequency ofthe backups either, so, after a year has elapsed, the time capsule is full, andmy only choice appears to be to erase all the current data on the Time Capsuleand start over, something that I do not want to at all let alone repeat on anannual basis. What can be done to have my Time Capsule delete old filesas it is supposed to do, so it has memory available to allow my computers toback up?

How much data is being backed-up from each Mac? (see what's shown for Estimated size of full backup under the exclusions box in Time Machine Prefs > Options).
Is there any other data on your Time Capsule, besides the backups?
Most likely, there just isn't room. Time Machine may be trying to do a very large (or full) backup of one or both Macs, and can't. Since it won't ever delete the most recent backup, there has to be enough room for one full backup plus whatever it's trying to back up now, plus 20% (for workspace).

Time Machine does not automatically delete old backups when drive is full

I back up to a 1TB external drive with TM. It will not delete old back-ups and instead tells me that the drive is full. I thought TM was supposed to manage all of this on its own.

It will, if it can. But it will never delete your last remaining backup.
See #C4 in Time Machine - Troubleshooting, probably the pink box there.
Basically, if Time Machine has to do a full or very large backup, and your Time Machine drive isn't well over twice the size of the data it's backing up, there won't be room for the last backup, plus the new one, plus some workspace.

How do I automatically delete all drafts, once there is a new approved version?
Example. Following versions exist: 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5, 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3. Only 1.0 is Approved. I want Sharepoint to automatically discard 0.1,,,0.5, because 1.0 was published.

Hi Peter,
you can use SeleteAllMinorVersions API to delete all minor versions, and you may also use event receivers for validating the versions and you may have to check for each version inside the event receiver. There is no event for versions.
Alternate would be to use SharePoint designer based workflow, see Delete Drafts action in the below link -

Automatic deletion of old archive files and trace files

I've got a database that must run 24x7 without being monitored by a DBA.
Two questions:
1. Is it possible to get Oracle to automatically delete and uncatalog old archive files?
2. Is it possible to get Oracle to automatically delete old trace files located in udump and bdump?

1. When you say 'uncatalog old archives do you mean that your database is backed up using RMAN and a catalog? If this is the case then RMAN can delete the backed up archives for you. Just add 'delete input' to the end of the 'backup archive log...' line in your backup script.
2. Oracle can't delete the trace files. Best way is to write a script that delete all files older than X days and schedule it to run every night.

Time Machine not deleting old back ups?

I keep getting the error
"This backup is too large for the backup volume. The backup requires...."
I use the same 500GB volume for backups all day, every day. I thought the program was supposed to automatically delete old back ups to make room? I do not see any additional settings to confirm this but if you manually delete back up files, it really kind of screws things up. I see back ups that are 4-6 weeks old on the back up volume so there are plenty it could delete. Has anyone else seen this and how do you resolve this problem?

Do you mean via the Finder? If so, yes, it does.
If you have deleted any this way, do the following:
1. Turn TM Off.
2. Use Disk Utility (in your Applications/Utilities folder) to do a +Repair Disk+ (not permissions) on your TM drive. If it finds errors that it can't fix, try again until it does or you get the exact same results. If they can't be fixed, stop here and post back with the results.
Download the +Time Machine Buddy+ widget from: http://www.apple.com/downloads/dashboard/status/timemachinebuddy.html. It shows the messages from your logs for one TM backup run at a time, in a small window. Copy and post the messages here (be sure to get them all, as sometimes they overflow the small window).
Also, is there other data on your TM drive? If so, is it in the same partition as TM's backups?

How to automatically delete iCal events

I've finally gotten to a "technical place" where I have an iMac, MacBook Pro, iPad, and iPhone for my wife and I. Life is good!!
I've made the switch to iCloud and now manage my calendar on all devices, but I can't seem to find how to set up my calendar to automatically delete old events.
I would assume that events that were created as the "start" of a repeating event should not be deleted, but those events that I create as non-repeating have little or no value to remain.
Is there a way to have iCal automatically delete events in the past?

Log into iCloud.com, open the Web App Calendar, click on the Prefereces cog, and make the appropriate selections in "Advanced."

Archive old websites

Is there a way to archive an old website created in iWeb so that I can remove it from .mac and publish a new site?

Right. You would have to make a copy of it ( Command(Apple)+d ) and then move it somewhere. The day you want to edit the old website you will have to double click the copy of the Domain file and it will show up in iWeb.
When you delete a site from IWeb it is removed from the Domain file too. That's why you make a copy of it. The copy and the non-copy are independent from each other. The new site will be in the Domain file and the old site in the copy of the domain file you made.

I've given my sister my old phone but where she has gone to deleted contacts and pics of photo stream they have then automatically deleted on my recent phone... HELP ME!!

I upgraded my iPhone 4S to iPhone 5c... My sister is planing to have my old 4s but we have gone to delete stuff eg contacts but those contact have then automatically deleted of my iPhone 5c ... I'm not sure if this is to do with the same icloud account being on both phones..
I have backed up iPhone 5c on the computer and have backed up iPhone 4S but not sure if backing up the 4s made a difference. I am then worried that if I delete the iCloud of the 4s it will then delete all my stuff of iCloud and of my 5c
When I got the iPhone 5c I used EE clone phone app so not sure if that has affected all this

Automatically Delete Calendar Events Older Than a Day old.

I am trying to have SharePoint automatically delete any events that are a day old. I have a vacation calendar that needs to remove any older dates and only keep up to date with the new ones. I have tried to search for the solution and cant
find anything. I don't want to filter the events it needs to be removed.

Hi,
at first, archivelogs should always be saved to tape before you delete them. If you don't want to backup them, may be for a test system, you can suppress them in ORACLE instead to delete them later.
You can run the database in "NOARCHIVE LOG MODE". If you do so, the online redologs are not archived, they are still reused and overwritten. You can not run an online Backup, when the database is in noarchive log mode. If you want to backup the database, you have to run an offline backup.
Do not use the NOARCHIVE LOG MODE for production or developemet systems.
To change the archive log mode:
shutdown the database
startup mount;
alter database noarchivelog;
alter database open;
archive log list will show the actual status

Delete old and backed up archive log,

Hi all,
Am trying to modify our RMAN backup script to delete old and backed up archive logs off the disk.
We run daily Incremental L0 or L1 backups, with 3 daily archive log backups. Currently we delete archive logs as they are backed up (backup archivelog all delete input). However, we are considering leaving x days worth of archive logs on disk, just in case, quick restore is needed (e.g. tablespace media recovery etc. etc.)
For example,
We can delete archive logs old tha n x (where x=no_days depending on database) by,
delete archivelog until time 'sysdate-15';
We can also delete archive logs that have been backed up to disk by,
delete archivelog all backed up 1 times to disk;
Questions,
1) Why does 'backed up 1 times to disk' require the 'all' in the statement ?
2) Is there any way to combine the 2 statements ? (backed up 1 times and older than x days ?). Just being a bit extra cautious to ensure that we have everything backed up. In real-world shouldn't be a problem, as we will be alerted to any backup failures, but trying to cater for the very worst situation.

Time Capsule full, no longer deleting deleting old backups automatically

Hi, My Time Capsule needs to backup 18.32 GB, but ther'e only 15.20 GB left on it, so it tells me that it couldn't complete the backup. It used to delete old backups automatically when it ran out of space, but, for whatever reason, it isn't doing that anymore.
Can anyone help, please?

Unfortunately, the Time Capsule cannot delete enough information to be able to make room for the new backup.
It would take forever to try to manually delete backups...and might not be successful....so you really are faced with a decison on whether you want to:
1) Add a new Time Capsule and start with a new "master" backup and move forward from there. You can keep the old Time Capsule connected and go back to browse backups there if you need to do so.
2) Erase the Time Capsule and start over with a new "master" backup and move forward from there.
If you really don't need all the old backups from months ago, and you don't mind starting over again, this makes sense for a lot of users. I usually start over about every 6 months or so, but your needs may vary.

Apple Script to delete old emails automatically

I couldn't figure out a way to automatically delete emails in one specific folder, based upon how old they were. I only wanted to keep them up to 15 days old. I have my security cam's motion alerts clips sent directly to a specific email folder. It is saved on mac server for safety. This apple script is awesome! It lets you pick how old you want to delete, and what folder.
This guy will get you any script you need, and they are great to deal with.

Account information is kept in NetInfo, a complex system database. If you just delete a home folder the account will still exist, and a new home folder will be created the next time a user logs into it.
