Automatically switches between silent mode and ring

Lately, meaning the last couple of months, whenever I put my iPhone 5 into silent mode the phone will almost immediately switch from silent to ringer and back to silent again. I can tell becaue the silent mode or ring mode graphic will come up and the phone will vibrate briefly. It seems to be getting worse lately as it just flip flopped from silent to ring mode about 5 times in a row. Any ideas? Failed hardware?

Try a reset:
Reset: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Note: You will not lose any data

MacBook Pro won't automatically switch between internal speakers and display audio

I have a MacBook Pro that connects to a LED Cinema display. It used to automatically switch between internal speakers and display audio when plugged in to the display but won't anymore. I have to manually change it in System Preferences --> Sound. Does anyone know how to make it do that again?

I just want to add, I have the same problem, and just want to help raise awareness of it.
1st, the problem only started recently (have been using the Thunderbolt display since it was released), I did not have this problem, and noticed it beginning only in the last month. (since January)
2nd, My particular setup, includes a hard drive attached to the firewire port on the back of the Thunderbolt Display (so, I am wondering if anyone else experienced this problem with a firewire drive being connected).
     My full setup:
          Macbook Air (2011)
         Thunderbolt display
          Western Digital drive (attached to firewire of display)
3rd, If I go into settings, what I will see is the "Display Audio" is selected (but no sound coming out),
If I then select "Internal Speakers," a buffered "history" of all the sounds I did not hear is then played (pretty funny actually) - for example, if I sent mail, adjusted the volume, and started playing a song.... it immediately plays all those sounds when selecting "Internal Speakers"
4th, If i then select "Display Audio" - it does nothing
5th, what I have to do, to resolve this is: eject all my hard drives, disconnect the thunderbolt cable, then reconnect the thunderbolt cable, and everything works as normal.

Timeline window missing button to switch between frame mode and timeline mode

I'm using Photoshop CS6 Extended.
This is what my timeline looks like now.
In tutorials they refer to a button that should be to the left of the drop menu that says "forever". The button is supposed to allow you to switch between frame mode and timeline mode.

I've already tried reinstalling and upgrading to CS6 extended, as some forums suggested.

OK. This should work. Copy and past the below script into Script Editor, save it as an AppleScript application to the Desktop. Double-click it and it should change to grayscale. Double-click it again and it'll toggle back.

My devices not automatically switching between Airport Extreme and Airport Express in extended network

I have setup an extended network in my home using an Airport Extreme and an Airport Express. The Extreme is connected directly to the FiOS modem and the Express is being used as the extender. The nework is setup fine, but my devices (MBA, iPhone, iPad) are not switching base stations when the signal becomes poor on the one it's connected to. For example, I am upstairs with my MBA and a great signal as I am connected to the Express. When I move downstairs to where the Extreme is setup, the Wi-Fi connection becomes poor even though I am litterally sitting next to the Extreme. To force it to connect to the Extreme, I need to shutoff the Wi-Fi on the MBA and turn back on. At this point, the MBA will connect to the Extreme with a excellent signal.
Any thoughts on why the MBA is not automatically switching?

The first troubleshooting step for any kind of network "issue" is a complete power cycle of the network. This gives everything a "fresh start" with new connections.
Power off the entire network.....all devices....in any order you want
Wait a minute or two
Start the modem/router first, and let it run a full minute
Start the AirPort Extreme next and let it run a full minute
Keep starting devices one at a time about a minute apart until the entire network is back up
Check the network again with the MBA and report on your results
Do not worry about the iPhone and iPad....they are pretty much hopeless as far as automatically switching from one access point to another....but the MBA should if it is working correctly.

FYI: switching between SLEEP Mode and HIBERNATE Mode on Powerbooks 5.8

The current 15" Powerbooks (DL Superdrive) will enter hibernate mode if the battery is very low on power.
To always use Hibernate Mode instead of Sleep Mode:
Launch terminal and enter
sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 1
It will take a little longer to hibernate/wake a Powerbook compared to sleeping. Waking has to be done by pushing the power button.
To disable Hibernate Mode completely, in terminal enter:
sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 0
To turn back your PB to standard behaviour (first sleep - hibernate if battery is low on power), in terminal enter:
sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 3

So it's basically the same as PC based laptops. Sleep or suspend mode brings the computer back up faster but if it loses power while sleeping any unsaved work is lost. Hibernate writes the files to disk or RAM before shutting down so the work isn't lost if the battery drains out.

Hook to run script between Consumption mode and Contribution mode

I am developing a Web Portal page with a Region Template. My page will need to have an accordion. My Region Template will push out raw HTML, and I will use jQuery to put accordion behavior on top. However, the jQuery will run at "onload", $(document).ready(function()), to initialize my raw HTML to be an accordion. It works fine in view mode, however when I switch to Contribution mode, the page shows a raw HTML.
I am looking for a hook that I can run JavaScript when switching between Consumption mode and Contribution mode. This way, I can put my initialization script in that hook. I have looked in the iDoc documentation but couldn't find any.
I would be grateful if you can help me out. Thank you very much for your time.

Are you sure your jquery isn't getting called? Switching between contribution mode should cause a full page refresh by triggering the WCM.ReloadURL js function.
Have you put in debug statements to ensure that the $(document).ready(function(){}); really isn't being called?

Hey there Sam1011,
It sounds like you are not flipping the side switch but the phone keeps muting and unmuting by itself.
I would start by toggling the side switch manually to mute, then unmute. Then evaluate it for a bit. If the issue persists, reset the phone with this article and test the issue.

If your device stops responding, you can reset it by pressing and holding both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears

MSI R9 290 How to switch between Gaming Modes?

Hi, I just got a MSI R9 290... with Afterburner installed. This card has 3 preset modes that are supposed to be easy to switch between OC Mode 1007Mhz, Gaming 974Mhz, Silent 947Mhz... How do I switch between modes? I just tried to up the MHz in Afterburner and must have done something wrong, becuase I froze everything instalntly and had to reboot. Can someone please advise me how to switch between these modes? Do I have the right software installed, Afterburner or is there another suite specificly for this card? I did not install the card, and sorry I am a noob when it comes to OC. . . You need the Gaming APP for switching (not Afterburner): http://download.msi.com/uti_exe/gamingApp.zip
Afterburner is for manual overclocking (for advanced users) if not using the modes.

While not in edit mode:
- if start typing numbers, then it enters number mode.
- if start typing text, then it enters text mode.
Using the arrow keys exits edit mode. So this should work for you:
1 Type text into a cell, which enters text mode.
2 Press Return to move to the next cell.
3 Press right arrow key to exit edit mode.
4 Press left arrow key to get back to the cell.
5 Type a number, which enters number mode.
Another method that requires more planning ahead of time is to format the cells as text or number before starting the data entry. Then when you navigate to a cell while in edit mode, you will be in the appropriate mode (without having to exit edit mode).
This all works fine for me. Hopefullly it does for you also.

Delaying when switching between apple mail and safari

I am a little puzzled by the libraries and switching between the libraries. My personal computer has the majority of the movies and content that would be transfered to the appletv. I chose to only select a minimal amount of content (of movies and tv shows, music via playlists) so there would be space left that would hold photos. Also, i just want to send over only what I want to view (manual synch) If I switch to my Kids library, it streams all the content well (movies & tv shows)(which is fine and streams well) If I switch back to my library, it shows every movie, every tv show, hundreds of music playlist that I did not choose to see. (stream mode) The only fix is to reboot the computer, and all is well. anyone experience this issue?

CS6/CC - switching between source monitor and timeline disaster

Now what is this?
It all works fine until you try DV Output.
In DV Output mode every time you switch between source monitor and the timeline it goes to some scary ritual:
1. output disabled on external monitor
2. some crazy flickering happens
3. ok, now updated picture on external monitor finally appears
Same happens when switching back to timeline.
Also when scrubbing through timeline video and audio is late for a few centuries on DV device/external monitor/speaker.
Why Adobe screwed firewire environment editing? I'm thinking about changing my job. Editing with Premiere is killing me lately. I'm thinking about starting to work with bees or strawberries, or something else less frustrating.
And Premiere CS 5.5 was the best editing software ever released. It has no similar problems. Why CS6 and CC are retarded?

Assertion Failed with switching between editing mode of table view

I'm writing an app that can switching between edit mode of a table view
- in edit mode a new line appear at the bottom
- out edit mode this line will disappear
I used insertRowsAtIndexPath and deleteRowsAtIndexPath to achieve this effect, but then during testing, if I switching edit mode too frequently, I got an assertion failure

It seems someone has also encountered this before, but I have found no solution yet. Anyone know how to fix it or work around it?

Please check if you have entries on the table RSTRANRULE with:
GROUPID   = 'space'
GROUPTYPE = 'space' or 'S'
REF_RULE <> 'space'
If there are inconsistent entries in the RSTRANRULE table such as:
       TRANID         *
       OBJVERS        *
       RULEID         *
       SEQNR          *
       GROUPID        00
       GROUPTYPE      space or GROUPTYPE    'S'
       RULETYPE       space
       REF RULE       *
Delete these entries from the table.
Activate the affected transformations.

Okay, it might be notifications that are active turning on the iPhone. Try Settings > Notifications. Turn off all the apps (you can also do this faster by turning on 'Do Not Disturb'). Try running it like this, and see if it turns itself on.

routed mode:
The CSS acts as a router, it routes packets from the client to the server. The server has the ACE configured as default-gateway.
There is a client-side VLAN and a server-side VLAN. These VLANs have different subnets.
Bridged mode:
The CSS acts as a bridge, it switches frames from the client to the server. The server has the upstream router configured as default-gateway.
There is a client-side VLAN and a server-side VLAN. These VLANs have the same subnet, but different VLAN IDs. The ACE bridges the client traffic from the client-side VLAN to the server-side VLAN.
Bridged mode would be most used in case one cannot change the servers IP addresses, or if address space is an issue.
