Automation of thesaurus and keyword redirects in endeca

I need to fetch data from text file or excel file and update it into current thesaurus and keyword redirects in endeca. How this is possible ? Any ideas ?

I have approached this issue in a slightly different way - and I can imagine a couple of scenarios for you:
For Pre Tools & Services 3.1.x:
1) Your staff maintain thesaurus and Keyword Redirects in both Workbench and in some external system.
In this case, you might consider customization your baseline update script in the following way:
a) get your externally managed thesaurus/redirects
b) export workbench managed files into a staging directory
c) remove any other files such as rule groups that you don't want to modify
d) call some custom class that you develop that merges your custom thesaurus/redirects into the thesaurus and redirect xml files.
e) import the two files back into workbench
f) continue on with the baseline update script which would then do all the right things to get the new thesaurus/redirects out of workbench, merge with pipeline, and runs forge
2) You don't maintain Thesaurus and Redirects in Workbench at all
a) ensure your app config settings for the ConfigManager component do not include thesaurus and redirects in the webStudioMaintainedFile list
b) your external process can just create thesaurus.xml and redirects.xml per the endeca dtds for these xml files (or you can create a class/xslt that converts your feed into the appropriate xml files)
Post Tools & Services 3.1.x:
In this world, thesaurus and redirects are managed in Workbench and I don't believe you have an option to not do this.
I have not had to work through this so unsure exactly how you would update the Workbench but the general idea is to get the externally managed thesaurus/redirects, convert them to the proper XML and JSON, then import into IFCR using a custom script.  this is the part I'm most unsure of as I have not seen documentation on how to do this.  But I believe you can do this given some other solutions I have heard of.

  • How to use Workbench created Thesaurus and Keyword redirects in Endeca 3.1.2?

    Hi ,
I have been trying to add a few Keyword Redirects and Thesaurus entries in the Endeca Workbench. After I add them, I am unable to see either the Keyword Redirects or Thesaurus being reflected in the Authoring/Live dgraphs!
I assumed that workbench entries will automatically override/merge the dev studio files when I run a baseline update. (There were no Keyword Redirects and Thesaurus entries I had created at this point through dev. studio.
But, When I add them via the Developer studio and run a baseline update, I am able to verify their working in jspref as well as in the Production site. PFB the version of Endeca that I am using:
    PlatformServices – 6.1.3
    WorkBench – 3.1.2
    MDEX – 6.4.1
    CAS – 3.1.2
I want to know how I can have workbench created/managed Keyword Redirects and Thesaurus.
I tried creating the Keyword Redirects and Thesaurus entries first (in the workbench) and then running a baseline update and vice versa, both the approaches didn't seem to work.
I have used the OOTB ProductCatalogIntegration set up to deploy this application and I've not changed anything in the AppConfig.xml either.
Any help would be hugely appreciated as I have been trying to acheive this for a long time without any progress.
Please let me know if you have any ideas on how to resolve this.
    Thanks in advance,
    Arjun

I was able to get the thesaurus working by just adding the entries in the Workbench. There was a problem with the IFCR Utility which was the reason why the Thesaurus entries were not being published to the Live Dgraphs. Once that was fixed, the thesaurus worked correctly.
But Keyword Redirects had more effort as our site was using presentation API. The keyword directs configured in the workbench are not being returned as Supplement Objects, but rather as a content XML. So we needed to handle the XML content which contains the redirect url.
If you have set up your application correctly, then you should be able to see the redirects in jspref atleast.

  • Keyword redirection ATG-Endeca

    Hi,
I have integrated ATG10.1.1 with Endeca commerce 3.10. I configured keyword redirection in Endeca developer studio. But i am not sure how to retrieve the URL from the search results returned by Endeca!! Endeca JSP reference application retrieves and displays the URL. However, I dont know how to do the same using the sample jsp pages given by ATG in assemblerSearchResultsSample.war. These jsps seem to use endeca_assembler-3.1.0. Appreciate any help on this.

There is a patch available for 3.0.1 from support for managing keyword redirects in Workbench and assembler support for them (with documentation)
I recommend grabbing the patch or upgrading to 3.1.1

  • Keyword Redirect in Endeca Commerce 3.1.0

We are using MDEX 6.3.0, PlatformServices 6.1.3, Tools and Frameworks 3.1.0 with guided navigation version of workbench as part of our installation of Endeca Commerce 3.1.0. We would not be using PageBuilder and its cartridges but would like to implement Keyword Redirects for our endeca application which deals with search and guided navigation only.
On setting up the Discover app we figured out that Keyword Redirect management option in workbench was not available. Do we need to make configuration changes to enable it or is the feature dropped from this version release?
    Thanks in advance!

The order would be managed by the merchandisers and could be updated daily, weekly based on the business requirement. Since we would be using rule manager only we would like to have the feature available in the workbench; any possible suggestions that would make the life of our merchandisers little easy.
Could we have these files declared in our AppConfig.xml as web-studio managed files so that the merchandisers can have more control like in Workbench 2.x.

  • Keyword Redirects with Stemming

    Hi all,
I am trying to accomplish something with the redirect rules that cannot be accomplished through the IAP workbench - we want the users to be able to do this themselves, without input from the development team. Here is the scenario:
    Two redirect rules:
    Keyword: garage
    URL: /garage.html
    Keyword: garages
    URL: /garageCare.html
We have stemming enabled on a global scale and herein lies the problem. Before the redirect rule is applied when searching for "garages", the stemming is applied (thus producing "garage") and we are returned to the first URL, instead of the second. I have been able to accomplish the above successfully by navigating into the default_redirects.xml and changing the "ENABLE_STEMMING" parms for these two words from TRUE to FALSE. This works, however, we do not want to interfere with the users entering in redirects via IAP Workbench. We also have no way of knowing when a change is made through workbench, if our overriden values (ENABLE_STEMMING="FALSE") will be reverted. Is there something we can enable to allow the users to enable stemming on an individual keyword redirect basis, like we are able to do via editing the rule in workbench?
    Thanks,
    Rob

    Hi,
did try using Thesaurus do to that instead of Stemming ?
exerpt from the Admin Dev Guide "Stemming equivalences are defined among single words. For example, stemming is used to produce
an equivalence between the words automobile and automobiles (because the first word is the stem
form of the second), but not to define an equivalence between the words vehicle and automobile (this
type of concept-level mapping is done via the Thesaurus feature).
Stemming equivalences are strictly two-way (that is, all-to-all). For example, if there is a stemming
entry for the word truck, then searches for truck will always return matches for both the singular form
(truck) and its plural form (trucks), and searches for trucks will also return matches for truck. In contrast,
the Thesaurus feature supports one-way mappings in addition to two-way mappings."
    hope that helps
    regards

  • Streamlining my libraries and keywords

I currently have two iphoto libraries (one was transferred from iview) with some overlap of pictures and some overlap of keywords. I'd like to combine them to one library, eliminate the duplication of photos, and keep all keywords from both libraries with elimation of duplicated keywords. I also want all the keywords to be searchable in spotlight and not just in iphoto. Im not sure this is possible.. and I'm considering using adobe bridge in place of iphoto.
    1. Is there an automated way to combine the libraries and eliminate duplications in photos and keywords?
    2. Is there a way to search iphoto keywords in spotlight (not just in iphoto). Would there be an advantage to use adobe bridge for this? If I use adobe bridge is there a way share the keywords?
    3. Are their 3rd party applications currently available that will help or should I keep my fingers crossed that a future version of photo7 will come out and help me manage keywords?
    thanks!

    Dale:
The only way to merge libraries and keep keywords, comments, albums, etc., intact is to use the paid version of iPhoto Library Manager. You can merge library A into library B. Then make sure you have the keywords associated with both versions of the duiplicate photos. Once that's done you can use either Duplicate Annihilator or iPhoto Diet to remove the duplicates.
I recommend you make a temporary backup of library B before running those applications in case the results are not what you want. Better safe than sorry.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Captioning and Keywords NOT retained on download of photos from Web Gallery

I noticed that the CAPTIONING information for photos on a web gallery ARE viewable while on the web gallery page(clicking on info), but are NOT included if you choose to download the photo. Not seen in the photo on download by viewing EXIF info, or "get info" from the Finder, nor available if I reimported the downloaded photo back into iPhoto 8.
Am I missing something regarding the way to store information. I had uploaded a lot of photos with important information for family members downloading embedded in the captioning??
BTW, the keywords ALSO were not downloaded or retained.

    Scott:
When published to a web gallery that information is not added to the file but to the slideshow files. The only time that info is written to the files is upon export with the checkbox selected to add Title and Keywords and Comments.
Even if the metadata is written to the files at the time they are imported into iPhoto, the files that get uploaded to the iDisk have that metadata stripped out of the file.

  • Why are Safari and Firefox redirecting  me to the wrong websites?

When searching, usually after getting results and choosing an appropriate website for whatever I'm looking for, I select a website and am redirected to a totally unrelated website. This happens on Safari as well as Firefox. Also while viewing a website of my choice, I will suddenly be switched to another unrelated site.

Sounds like you have a browser hijacker installed. Please do the following.<br><br>
#In the location bar where you normally type in a web address, type '''about:config''' and hit Enter.<br><br>
#In the filter at the top, type: '''keyword.URL'''<br><br>
#Double click it and remove whatever's in there and replace it with http://www.google.com/search?q= and then click OK.<br><br>
    #Close the tab
The URL to add in "keyword.URL" becomes a link in this post, so right click it and choose "Copy Link Location" to copy it to the Windows clipboard. Then hit CTRL+V to paste it. Saves you having to type the whole thing.
'''To reset your home page, do the following'''.<br><br>
    * Go to the site you want to set as your homepage.<br><br>
    * Click the Firefox button, go to '''Options '''| '''Options '''| '''General'''.<br><br>
    * Make sure it says "''Show My Homepage''" in the first dropdown menu.<br><br>
    * Click the button called "'''Use Current Pages'''" to set the homepage to the one you have on the screen.<br>
Also, download the free version of Malwarebytes from here and do a full system scan to eliminate malware as the culprit if the above steps don't resolve the problem for you: http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free
Last but not least, consider upgrading to Firefox 5.0. The version you have installed at the moment is vulnerable to certain exploits. See the following article: http://www.mozilla.org/security/known-vulnerabilities/firefox.html

  • All web browsers, search engines and apps redirect automatically to broken links.

Hi, I have a big problem. When I browse internet, my iPhone redirect it automatically to different links. most of them are broken links. When I try to stop, web browser or app will be closed. This occur with every web browser, google and apps such as Facebook, WhatsApp, Viber, etc. Why is this ? If I try to open a weblink in a web browser or an app, it will open original link and then redirect to a different web address automatically. And it content nothing. I am confused. Please help.

thanks orangekay for your input. i downloaded both onyx and cocktail and ran them both fully (not at the same time of course) and the problem still persists, pages are still rendering in glyphs. i went in and did the full system with every option checked. still no luck.
also after running the two utilities i've run into a new glitch. when a dialog box appears my pointer slowly moves automatically to the default button that is highlighted. its really strange, i'm not sure if thats a feature or not, but i havent had time to explore the situation.
so you believe it's a font problem? hmm...
thanks for the input again, geese, i guess this topic isnt very common, i've ony gotten one response =T

  • Can I migrate tags and keywords created in Elements, to Photoshop CS4?

I have used Elements 11 for cataloguing a lot of photos but I want to use Photoshop CS4 for other purposes. The tags and keywords I created in Elements disappear in PS. How can I migrate them? Does CS4 have a similar cataloguing ability?

When you add keywords to images in Photoshop Elements Orgainzer, they are added to the catalog not to the file directly. You can save the keywords to the file directly by using File  > Save Metadata to Files.
If you use the Edit with Photoshop feature of the Organizer, the file does get sent to Photoshop with metadata attached (without having to use the above steps). But in order to see this data you have to go to File > File Info in Photoshop.
Beyond that, not all file formats support metadata or keywords, and not all application have a way of displaying or reading keywords.
Photoshop doesn't have any cataloging abilities. The closest it has is the Bridge companion app. This does not catalog your files, but simply allows you to view the files on your hard drive (similar to Windows Explorer or Mac Finder) with more information displayed.

  • How to export ranking and keywords from Aperture to iPhoto

    Hi,
I like to edit RAWs in Aperture but still want to keep iPhoto for JPGs, sharing and slidshows... However, I cannot get the keywords and rankings from Aperture into iPhoto. The JPGs have other Metadata attached to them, but not the ones that matter the most here - ranking and keywords. Subtitles for example are also missing in the exported picture.
I tried various ways of exporting/importing the pictures (of course "including metadata"), but did not yet succeed. I did expect these two applications to get along more smoothly, however there must be a way to do this, right? Please let me know!

    Redgo,
I can't answer your specific question, but I too like to use iPhoto for slideshows.
I don't do this by sharing the libraries or having duplicate copies. In Aperture, I make an album with the pictures for my slideshow. Then in iPhoto, I grab that album from Aperture and make an iPhoto slideshow from that. It uses the previews, but medium-res previews are fine for a slideshow. It wouldn't be so good for printing (but I imagine you'd use Aperture to do that).
Just my 2 cents about an alternate workflow.

  • Lost Titles and Keywords during Importation from older Mac

I have a brand new MacBook. The Apple store where I bought it transferred all my files from my old iBook G4 to the new machine. BUT . . . most of the 3000 photos in my old iPhoto (Vers. 5.0.4) file omitted all of the keywords and most of the titles during the transfer to iPhoto (Vers. 6.0.6). I think the shop used Migration Assistant for the transfer.
I have tried 4 times to re-transfer, using Apples recommended method of "Import to Library . . ." using a firewire connection. But I have no better luck than did the Apple shop: most titles and all keywords missing.
The importation also gave me something that I really don't want: The Original of every photo that I ever modified in the past now shows up in the Library. I guess it is important to have the originals stored somewhere, but why aren't they in a hidden file somewhere -- not right up there demanding attention every time I use iPhoto?
I've been a Mac user since the beginning of time, but am now wondering (especially in view of the thousands of questions from other users as bewildered as I) if Apple hasn't gotten themselves into the category of "If you are smart enough to do it, you are too smart to try it". Should I just forget iPhoto, and put all of my photos into folders of my own creation, and manually copy all titles and keywords from my old Mac while I still have access to it?
Thanks in advance for your advice and suggestions.

First off, there is no part of this process that involves using the 'import to library' function. If you want to do this, you'll be creating a new library and will lose your titles and keywords.
The job is to get the iPhoto Library Folder from the old machine to the new machine.
When you applied BatchMod, did you tick the box to apply to enclosed folders?
Assuming that you did, then we're into file management issues. The usual things that prevent copying are File Permissions (and you've sorted that) or a damaged file.
We'll try an copy the library over piecemeal, and see if we can track down the errant file. This is tricky, as we need to recreate the library exactly or the library won't work.
On the New Machine Create a Folder in the Pictures Folder and call it iPhoto Library Folder.
From the old Library, copy all the ancillary files - just the files, anything not in a folder.
If they work, start moving through your Year Folders. If one doesn't copy, leave it and go on to the next one.
Then, repeat the process until you discover the problem file(s) or folder(s) - it'll be one that won't copy.
Remember, it is vital to make an exact copy of the iPhoto Library Folder on the new machine.
Post back when you've got this done.
    Regards

  • Aperture 2.0 and keywords

In "preference" from the aperture menu, I made selection "metadata" ticked the box "viewer" and selected "set 1" as "viewer expanded". This will result that in the viewer pane underneath every image the keywords are shown.
In the metadata inspector I have chosen in the menu for "viewer expanded" and moved the "keyword brick" to the top position. This will result that the keywords are displayed under the image as the first item, so there is space enough for more than one keyword. So far so good.
If you close now aperture and bring it up again, the keywords are not shown underneath every images, while other metadata is shown underneath every image. You have to go to the metadata inspector and click on every image to bring up the keywords under the image.
I think this is rather strange (bug?). Or do I miss something.
    Iemke

I have also been having issues trying to get keywords to show up in the viewer mode. I can do it by going to preferences/metadata and in both the viewer and browser set them to show caption and keyword. It is a drag, because I would prefer to have the rating showing in the browser. Otherwise, I need to follow a similar procedure than you to see the keywords.
