Automator Issue

I'm currently encoding my CD collection and have directed the encodes into a particular folder called "Lossless Encodes". I've tried setting up a folder action using "Copy Finder Items" that sends files from the "Lossless Encodes" folder on my laptop to another folder on a separate drive. What happens, however, is that the action only affects the first file that lands in the folder and ignores the rest. I though that every time a file landed in the folder, the folder action would kick in but this is not the case. Is there something I'm missing? Should I be using a different command besides "Copy Finder Items" or "Move Finder Items"? Any help is appreciated!

I considered my files lost for good, so I ended up rescanning all my photos. Thanks to anyone who thought about this problem!

Automator : issue with variable and path to folder

I created a simple Automator Workflow with: A variable "Document Folder" and an action "Run shell script" with this command:
"rsync -E -a -v -z --delete $@ /Volumes/MyBook/Backup/"
I tested this command, It works very well in the terminal. But return me an error with Automator.
"$@" is replaced by the Path when running, I guess my issue is that the content of the variable is " ~/Documents " . When it pass to the script it become "/Users/login/~/Documents".
That can't works.
A solution would be to put in the script the full path instead of "$@" but I would liketo understand why this error occur.

Automator actions return their results as a list of items. If you want your shell script to use the result of an action (for example Ask for Finder Items) as arguments, you need to set the Pass input: as arguments option, and place your statement in the for loop:
for f in "$@"
do
/usr/bin/rsync -E -a -v -z --delete "$f" /Volumes/MyBook/Backup/
done

Master data automation issue

Hi ,
I have automated master data which pushes member data from BW infoobject to BPC member sheet. Now i have a requirement to add 300 rows which are constants or fixed members and the constant valuess are available only in first 3 columns ie
ID EVEDESCRIPTION PARENTH1
My issue here is , I have few transformations in transf file which adds a prefix to the company code say for ex :US01 to be added as G_US01 in member sheet. I have constant values at the end of other dimension members and the G_ is shown up in the respective company code column, I wanted to know if we can hardcode in transformation file so that i dont need to manually add these members to master data dimension manually.
I am using IMPORT_IOBJ_MASTER & HIER for loading master data and hierarchy data.

Thanks for your response. I think my question confused you.
I did get the prefix members correctly, Apart from the BW info object data i do have few rows of constants which we used to manually add during the file prep process.
Now my question is i have to add few members say 200 rows for the first 3 columns ID , EVEDESCRIPTION and PARENTH1.
for these members i do not want the transformation to be applied. i have maintained these 200 rows in a table and i am calling using a select statement and inserting at the end of the member sheet(after the info object data).
In simple terms i have constants added in the BW info object .
Currently my company code is mentioned in transformation file as below and it works fine for all the members.
HIER_PARENT=*STR(G_)+0COMP_CODE
Fo the last 200 members in the member sheet i dont want to apply this transformation, i want the company code to be left as blank.Please let me know if it is possible.

Flex Automation issue

Hi All,
I am facing one issue reagrding flex automation.with the trial version of flex builder,is it possible to have all the classes related automation?
when I am trying to use mx.aumation package lots of classes are missing.Can anybody guide me as to how to achieve this?

May I know what you mean exactly by "Flash Builder Standard Version - 4.0 plugin" + Premium License.
Have you entered Flash builder premium license key in the screen that asks for serial number? If so, it will be Flash Builder Premium version 4.0 and not Standard version any more.
If so, automation should work without any issue.
To check whether premium features are enabled for your version of Flash Builder, please open "Network Monitor" using Window > Show View and see if it is enabled.
If it is disabled, it shows a message that premium license is required.
Please confirm.

Campign Automation issue

I have created a campign and trying to turn on the automation process by clicking the button. The process is launching a browser and a Java applet runs for few moments then the system hangs up. I just see Campaign Automation label on the top. I am working on SAPGUI 4.0 and have installed IIS on the machine. What could be the issue? Any help will be appreated.

have you searched OSS for the latest Patches of the Campaign Automation JAR File? What SP level does your CRM System have? I think you use CRM 4.0 with SAP GUI 6.20 or 6.40?

MDM Syndication Automation Issue.

              Iam practising MDM asyndication process automation. As part of this I have created Syndication Map and assigned this map to Outbount port in MDM console. BUt i can not see any syndicated Files in outboud ready folder in MDM Server.
          can any one tell me the settings neede for this.Iin one of the blog(/people/harrison.holland5/blog/2007/01/22/testing-and-monitoring-an-interface-between-mdm-xi) it is given that we need to set Auto Syndication Task Enabled=True but i can not see this property in my mds_ini0 file.

      The Port is defined as Automatic with processing interval as continuous. I am getting exception as Auto syndication failed connecting to MDM Server localhost

Automation issues with M-audio oxygen 61, and NI massive

Hi,
For some reason, when I want to assign a CC on my keyboard to control automation, Massive recognize the command, the knob in massive which i pressed " midi learn" moves, but only once and stays to that position. If i move the command on my keyboard again, nothing happens. I have tried to reset midi command, restart Logic and my mac, but same thing happens.
any help?

OK, I haven't tried this, but here's an idea that should in theory work:
Program your Oxygen so that the eight buttons you want to use don't send patch change messages directly, but regular MIDI CCs.
Assign these buttons to eight corresponding screen controls in MainStage (Layout mode)
Specify a unique program change number for each patch in your concert (in the Patch Inspector).
This is the important bit: Create the mappings for your buttons at the set level: Select one of your sets and map each button to the exact patch number within that set, that you want to select with the respective button. (map to "Actions" -> "Jump to Patch"). Since these set-level mappings will only take effect as long as you are playing a patch within that set, you can set up independent mappings to completely separate patch numbers within each set.

I'm working with a lot of MIDI tracks in Logic Express 8. I know that the A key is the shortcut to bring up the automations for the selected track. However, when I click "A," no matter what track is selected, the automations for the viola track pop up. It's been going on for about 4 days, and I've shut my computer down multiple times to no avail. I'm very frustrated. Does anyone know what's going on?

In the following diagram the first parameter is one of the EQ bands, it's checked and you can also see that enabling that gives it an envelope in the track display.

Recording Actions and Batch Automation Issues

I'm not getting proper results when performing a batch automation on several images.
I've recorded an action performing several image modifications, these modifications are:
1. I've set the Background layer and named it L1
2.I resized the image from 1600X1200 to 150X113
3. I resized canvas size to 150X150
4. I duplicated layer L1 and named it MIRROR
5. I Transformed "MIRROR" layer by flipping it vertically
6. I moved the "MIRROR" layer down until I obtain the proper mirror effect
7. I saved the image as jpeg
8. I stoped recording
Now when I tryied doing:
Open several images of size 1600X1200/File/Automate/Batch
with the following settings:
-source: open files
-destination: folder (i chose a folder)
-Override action "Save as Commands" checked
The images were resized properly, the canvas size was correct layer was duplicated, and flipped vertically but MIRROR layer was not moved enough so I didn't get a perfect mirror effect.
There must be something wrong with the way I move my MIRROR layer when I record the action? Is there a way of moving an image by a number of pixels instead of using the keyboard arrows?

But now I have another challenging question.
How can i apply a gradient effect and have it recorded and apllied as automate/ batch to several images?
The effect I'm trying to obtain is this:
steps I recorded are:
1. Created a new layer and called it "background"
2. I applied a gradient to "background" dragging the cursor from to to bottom and from middle to bottom again
3. I arranged my layers so I can see the "mirror" layer
4. I added a mask to the layer
5. I applied gradient on the layer dragging the cursor from middle of image to bottom.
I recorded the whole thing
It works on the original image in automate batch processing but for other images I get a white background or no change on the mirror layer???

Applescript and Automator Issue

I'm trying to design an Automator and Applescript code that will perform the following.
1. Target specified application and make active
2. Hold down s key for 15 seconds
3. Hold down the left arrow key for 0.75 seconds
4. Hold down s key for 15 seconds
5. Hold down right arrow key for 0.75 seconds
6. Repeat this 100000 times.
The code I have developed is as follows:

The problem is that this program is recognizing the key codes all wrong. The key code 1 refers to my "a" key when it should be referring to "s". Key code 123 and 124 don't do anything. Is there something wrong with my code? Help would be appreciated.

Using JavaScript to script System Events wouldn't be any better, since it uses the same Apple Events mechanism (how well it uses it is another topic). To hold down a key you would need to use something that has access to the deeper system APIs, most likely using Xcode.
And yes, your code snippet will press the arrow key 5 times (I am guessing that the missing space in key code is a typo). You can place the cursor in a bunch of text in another application such as TextEdit, and use your script to activate it before performing the key codes to get a better idea of what is happening (trying to reposition the cursor in the Script Editor will reveal a bug with the delay command).

Automation issue LP 9.01

anybody seen this behaviour of manually drawing automation:
activate volume automation, create 4 nodes, then drag the middle section towards the bottom, trying to achieve -infinite level. i have to drag that line 10 times to get it fullway down. the same raising it again...
this happens with volume and send levels on audio and VI tracks, not with pan automation or other instrument/FX parameters.
altering single automation nodes behaves as supposed.
not really usefull for editing automation curves...
any workaround for this?
BTW: click/ctrl on a single node let you move it with inbetween values...nice new feature

As automation is definitely one of the main advantages of a DAW, this bug should be sorted out as soon as possible.
As the EXS 24 bug: importing multiple samples and mapping them contiguously doesn't work.
I don't have any problems regarding processing.
I like the flex feature a lot, because i do a lot of sounddesign for radioplays and thetres. Editing phrases and aligning is now much more comfortable and a real pleasure. But in my projects, I do heavy automations to create various ambiances - and now this feature is half broken and diffcult to handle.

Automator issues

Has anyone tried to dettach a file from mail using automator. It sounds very easy using a workflow but it doesnt work. I use any combination of steps, the simplest being get attachment from all messages and save in a folder but it doesnt work.
When I run the workflow, it opens mail but doesn't get file attachment. I dont get any error messages either..
Any ideas would be great.. i searche dthe internet for a script also but no luck.

Automation Issues

I am trying to automate an EQ (basically bypassing it at one specific scene) for the movie. I see that it isnt working when I select "touch or latch" then click the "bypass" button on the parameter. Ive tried to select the audio from the video. It wont let me select certain segments of the audio without drawing some silly bow all across it or shifting the audio file down the timeline.

Please help...Automation not chasing?

For some reason a new mix I am working on is suffering from automation issues, namely the automation is not chasing.
Is ther some switch for this? I have looked everywhere..

The automation is mutes, faders and sends. I can see the moves onscreen, but they don't play. For example, I have the drums muted from the top of the song till the end of the first verse. I use a marker to locate just before the top of the verse. I have SEVERAL additional mutes programmed after this locate and when I start the song there, the drums still play, I can watch it breeze past all the mutes unfazed... It only seems to work if I play from the top. It won't chase either.
In a related problem, today I was touching up a mix from a different record and I soloed a bass track, it sounded fine but the onscreen fader indicated that it was at -infinity.
I dont know what changed in my system. I've mixed hundreds of tunes this year on it, now this....

Does Logic X load OMF volume automations?

I have always problems with OMF in logic... Does this new X version reads OMF automations?

CORRECTION!
Pancenter, after your 2nd mail I all of a sudden realized that we had not tested OMF in LPX 10.0.3., vacations and all that…. Anyway, we did now and I'm glad to state that in LPX, OMF import and export does work as we where used to in L9.
I had no chance to test the automation issue though, did this actually work in L9? I just can't remember……
Sorry for the fuzz. This proofs again that one should not participate in discussions so early in the morning.
