Available Avatars

Hey,
I noticed that the collection of available avatars has been updated to include quite a few new ones. There seems to be an avatar for just about every mac supported by OS X, every Mac that is EXCEPT FOR MINE.
I have a Power Mac G4 MDD/FW800 system. There are avatars for both models prior to this style but not this one... any chance it can be added?

No, no, no, not even close. That's Indigo, one of the jewel-colored iMacs.
The original Bondi Blue iMac (released in 1998) was much greener, and you couldn't see all the way through the case. The Indigo color came quite a few revisions later in 2000.

I notice that some people have an avatar that is not on the table of available avatars. Is there a way that I can use a photo from my iPhoto library for my Community Support avatar?

Destroyed My "My Posts" Widget!!

Based on some advice I read in this section, I edited my "My Posts" widget (if I remember its name correctly). I wanted to see more than a random selection of my previous posts. So I set the count to 20,000, well above the total number of my posts, which is somewhere around 7,200. Now when I select "Your View", that page just spins. On two occasions it finally showed me that page about "discussions will be back soon". Apparently it doesn't scale to handle the number of messages I've posted. Unfortunately, since that page no longer finishes rendering, I can't edit that widget to reduce the number of posts to a value it can handle. How can I fix this? And once I've recovered, how can I set that widget to display a reasonable number of my most recent posts instead of a random selection?

I ran into a bug that eats up users' ability to change their avatars.
When you delete a user-uploaded avatar it also deletes the placeholder for the avatar as well. Deleting an avatar therefore not only deletes the avatar, but also burns up that spot and the potential to upload a new avatar in the future to it.
For example, if you have 3 available avatar spots, upload an avatar to one of them, then delete that avatar using the delete option underneath it, you're down to 2 open avatar spots. Two more times and you can no longer personalize your avatar.
It seems like you should be able to delete an avatar without deleting its placeholder.
I know you're deluged with the changeover, but figured I'd bring this to your attention if you haven't already made a note of it.

Availability status and avatars

hey guys Web Beta is working pretty well for basic messaging needs - nice job. However, I don't know if it's just me on Chrome/PC - but no avatars display for contacts and more importantly, no sort of Availability icon/status indictator? It is very helpful to have that little green overlay available icon or whatever. Is there something I can do or is that not working right now? cheers

Thanks for the test case. You've found one of the least used nooks and crannies of the product.The main problem is that the app uses database authentication. In this mode, all users are the public user so neither the Developers Only nor the Restricted Access tests will succeed, even if you run a page from the Builder run links.
The other problem is that even with named-user authentication hooked up (which I did in your test app), if anyone accesses a public page before they login, they are known as "nobody". However if they access a non-public page, they can login and all should be well, even if they then visit a public page. (The login page has a special status and does not have this problem.)
So you need to put nobody in your restricted list to make the Restricted Access feature work for the public pages. However the Developers Only feature won't work unless developers login first.

Why is there such a long wait on the Avatar: The Legend of Korra episodes? Episode 6 was released yesterday, and it's still not available for download.

I bought the season pass for Avatar: The legend of korra, and the 6th episode aired yesterday, why isn't it on iTunes ready to download yet?

This is absolutely rediculous, if I had KNOWN that I would have to wait for these episodes so long that I could STORYBOARD it by the update statuses on my facebook account before it released with the season pass, I would have continued paying $20 a month for basic cable. I want my money back. And worst of all, apple doesn't even seem to have a place for me to call and chew someone out for it. Just a place for me to post a complaint that I'm sure they'll never read.
But just in case they are, quote me, "APPLE, YOU SUCK. I'VE NEVER BEEN HAPPIER ABOUT HAVING A PC.'
ps, please don't explode my iPhone, I do still like that.

Hi everyone from the Build 2015 conference happening right now in San Francisco! If you haven’t already, check out Terry’s blog post about all the Windows 10 announcements we made today. If you’re at Build this week or at Ignite in Chicago next week – keep your eye out for me and say hello!
Today we have a new build available to both the Fast and Slow ring for Windows Insiders (that means we’ll have ISOs available too for those of you who like a clean install.) With this build we continue to evolve the features and design for Windows 10, and you’ll see a lot of subtle changes and improvements, many of which were influenced directly by Windows Insiders. One of those changes is the reintroduction of some Aero Glass elements in the UI, but there are many more things throughout the product as well. We continue to use your feedback directly day to day in how our feature teams operate, and we hope that Windows 10 will be the best version of Windows yet because you had a direct hand in its creation.
One other subtle change that you’ll notice is that we’ve changed how we talk about the builds from “Technical Preview” to “Insider Preview” to reflect the importance of the Windows Insider community in how we’re building Windows 10.
And speaking of Windows Insiders, we were super excited to host the 10 winners of our Windows Insiders to Campus contest in Redmond last week and hear their thoughts on the program and the product. We’ll share more on that soon.
Here is what’s newSome of the things that Joe demoed on stage earlier today during the Build keynote are not yet included in this build and will be in future builds. But we still have a bunch of new stuff for you to check out!
General UX improvements: We made a bunch of UX improvements with the last build and you’ll see even more in this build. For example, you’ll notice a new Live Tile animation for Start in addition to in addition to some performance and stability improvements for Live Tiles.
We’ve done work to better support high DPI displays. And we know many Windows Insiders are running multi-mon setups – often with 2 monitors with different DPI. You will start to see some work we’re doing to make sure core UX components in Windows scale correctly on both your monitors so things look nice regardless of DPI.
We’ve also heard loud in clear that many Windows Insiders want to see Aero Glass from Windows 7 make a comeback. We’ve been working out how to satisfy this request, and are trying some things out with this build to see how you like them. We’re running a little A/B test with this build. 50% of you will normal transparency on the Start menu and taskbar while the other 50% will see a blur effect on the Start menu and taskbar (like frosted glass). If Windows Insiders really like the blur effect, we will add it to more areas and even consider making it the default instead of standard transparency. Which one did you get? Send us feedback about it via the Windows Feedback app!
Even more improvements to Continuum: We’re continuing to make Continuum better and invest in a simplified taskbar. Additionally when you close an application in Tablet mode, we take you back to the Start screen instead of the desktop as you would expect when using a tablet. You will see general polish on snapping, and the shared divider between two snapped windows now let’s you adjust the size.
Multi-tasking improvements: We’re continuing to refine and complete our mulit-tasking experience with Windows 10. Check out Alt-Tab, Task-View, and Snap Assist. Snap Assist also now supports the ability to close a window during Snap Assist.
New default Windows sounds: We’ve heard a lot of feedback from people that they want some fresh system sounds for Windows 10. Check them out and let us know what you think.
Visual refresh for Cortana: You will see a visual refresh for Cortana in this build that makes the experience feel more ingrained into the overall Windows experience. Start and Cortana are now more tightly integrated. As you start to search for an app from within Start, Cortana can seamlessly take over and bring back the right result. The new Windows split view control has been added to Cortana’s left rail, offering quick access to key Cortana functionality like the Notebook, Reminders or Feedback on how Cortana’s doing. This split view control helps anchor Cortana to the rest of the Windows UI and provides navigation consistent with many other Windows first party applications.
New experiences in Cortana: We are making available some new and updated experiences in Cortana powered by Bing Instant Answers. Cortana will aim to answer your question while you’re still typing. Here are a few questions you can try:

Finance – “MSFT stock”
Dictionary – “define astounding”
Calculator – “48*92”
Flight Status – “UA 238”
Reference – “how tall is brad pitt”

Updates for the Music and Video Preview apps: We’ve also shipped updates to these apps. The Music Preview app (3.6.999.0) has some UX improvements including a more immersive Now Playing experience with a true full screen mode. With the Video Preview app (3.6.999.0) – you can download movies, TV shows, and TV seasons and check progress, pause, resume, cancel the download. You can also download, delete, and even re-download videos as many times as you want on up to three devices (we’re planning to increase the number of devices you can download content too!). Closed captioning for purchased content now appears. You will see a list of new features when you first launch these app after each update!
Xbox app April 2015 update: The Xbox app for Windows 10 has been updated (your version number should be 4.4.9014.0 or higher) with new features like Game DVR for PC games, screenshots, a Live Tile, user profiles, and real-name sharing. Oh and the drivers for Xbox controllers are now included with Windows 10, so you no longer have to download and install controller drivers on Windows 10. Windows Store Beta improvements: We’re excited about delivering a single unified Store experience in Windows 10 which we’re talking more about this week at Build. We’ve made some improvements to the Store Beta which is now a blue tile instead of grey. Xbox Live games should be working and so are in-app purchases. Apps you purchased on a PC running Windows 8.1 will now show up in the Store Beta on Windows 10 as owned (and vice-versa). You can now launch Win32 (desktop) apps from the Start menu again. Sorry about this bug!
You should be able to download music in the Xbox Music and Music Preview apps.
When you minimize an app playing audio, it should continue playing in the background.
Here are some known issues
Developers cannot enable Developer Mode in the Settings app for installing and testing apps on this build. We’ll enable this in an upcoming build. In the meantime, you will need enable your device for development using the Group Policy Editor.
There is an issue in this build preventing some games from playing in full screen mode. We’re working to get a fix out via WU as soon as possible.
The People app continues to crash. We’re planning to release an update for the People app through the Store Beta that fixes this.
We hope you’ll agree that 10074 has some nice improvements and is another step forward towards delivering a great Windows 10 release. Please put it through the paces and keep sending us feedback on the things that you like and the things you want us to keep working on using the Windows Feedback app. I hope that you’ll also download the development tools released at Build and will build some terrific Universal Windows apps as well!

Avatar not showing up 3 weeks?

In response to many help I had on the forum I changed my avatar to a photo of myself to be less anonymous as I feel indebted to those who spent time for me. However after three weeks I'm more anonymous than ever! Perhaps this will prompt a fix. I designed my photo via Ph Shop to meet the upload requirement. Isn't this funny, someone told me that you can upload to Face Book in full format from your digital camera.If this is true I wonder why the Avatar is not able to function the same way?

Well, seems like I'm a bit of a dip! I guess what happened was I uploaded the new avatar & expected that, when it was approved, it would replace the old one. What seems to instead be the case is that the new avatar, when approved, became available amongst the options. So now I have my new avatar. The joy...... simply inexpressible.

How to use the scene deconstruction option for Avatar

I am able to access all the iTunes extras feature for Avatar except the Scene Deconstruction feature. Whenever I use any of the 3 options available in scene deconstruction it just opens up a blank grey screen with Final, picture in picture, template and capture text and the pause sign. Nothing shows or plays I have been at it for over 2 days now. Will someone help me or guide me to a video where I can learn how to use this feature?

I bought the movie Avatar by James Cameron a while ago and ITunes deleted it out of nowhere. I am not the one that deleted it. Is there any way to get it back without having to pay for it again? Thank you for your assistance.

I am getting very aggravated by this, as I am not the one that did anything, yet they want me to pay for this movie again. I personally feel that this is a morally bankrupt thing for apple to do, unless it was a simply an error, in which case I expect to have my movie back.

I also lost all my movies a month or two ago when I upgraded iTunes, a pain in the arse getting everything back, but since then I back up everything religiously. Apple didn't delete my movies, they just disappeared the way these things do sometimes when you upgrade software.
Avatar, however, is not available from teh iCloud and you would have been warned of this when you bought it - my son has it on his iPad and he wants to remove it to free up space but the only way we can get it again is to pay for it again (unless someone has a smart idea of how I can sync his iPad with my PC and capture a version of it like that?.....without losing all my itunes on the PC?.....).
Some movie houses are more generous than others, but a small price to pay for the brilliant convenience of having most movies on the Cloud, I'd say :-)

N86 games - Why only 2 buttons are avail and not a...

The top part of the phone which is covered by the slider has 4 buttons (for pic viewing, music and games).
I found it very convenient to play games with it. However, only the 2 middle buttons are available for n gage games. The top and bottom one are not, and it's a shame cause they could be very useful in some games.
Why?? and can this be changed somehow so that all 4 buttons will be operatable in games?

No, it has nothing to do with the phone reporting it to the game. Even if lets say the phone reported the buttons, they will still be useless, and would have no function since the game was only written to have the nav button and two commands. Its like those emulators for PC. When you use a gameboy emulator for example, you only can use buttons for navigation, the "a" and "b" buttons and start select, even if you have like 100 keys, because the game was written to only have those command scripts.

What Happened to My Avatar?

My Community avatar has been a url to a photo for some time. Suddenly, it grew so large that it completely covered my posts. I removed it and tried a url with an alternative photo. Same result, so I've switched to a standard avatar.
Is it just me, or is something up with the site?
UPDATE
I changed to a smaller photo and the text is no longer covered. Anyone know why is the site has suddenly stopped resizing images to fit automatically?
FURTHER UPDATE
On my travels around the BT Forums I've noticed that it's not just me. Seems that something needs looking at.

Camera settings in Nokia 5610 no availables.

Hi.
I've a 5610 RM-242 sw 10.0 and the following camera settings aren't available (They appear in the settings menu but are disabled):
* Night mode.
* Image sequence.
* White balance.
How can I enable them?

Gnome 3.16 GDM doesn't show available users

Hi,
since the latest Gnome 3.16 update, GDM doesn't show my available users. My users are LDAP users and I can sign-in with them. If I sign-out with an already logged in user then GDM shows the list of available users. I've also the problem that the avatar I've chose for my user will not be saved. Every time I sign-in I must chose the picture again.
The log shows no abnormality. Does anyone have a suggestion or a similar problem?

Same problem for me, I've tested with LDAP and Winbind users, without success.
I can login with the "not listed" link and typing the username manually, but it's a real pain.
The strange thing in fact, is that the users list appears after the first logout.
Someone with an hint?

Anyone know when the new 2013 Alpine headunits will be available?

I want an Alpine HU with a rear USB and 3 pre-outs, not a frount mounted USB port. The CDE-147BT is already available at several other places; when will Best Buy offer it?

check stores around mid may. they should be in stock around then. otherwise we won't be carrying that model. with head units it is really a hit or miss if we will get them, and which stores will get them. Sorry for the weak response, but the best i can say is check back mid may. Good luck!
