Average with StatBlockCalc

Hello everybody, I'm new here, so nice to meet you all!
I have the first 2 columns of a table like this one:
and like named in the table, I need a third column that calculates the avarage only for a certain time and not for the whole channel. So I tryed "StatBlockCalc", but in my case I can't set fix values for "RowNoStr", because they differ for every new experiment. Of course in this example I could use 1-5 and in a second new generated column I could use 6-8 and so on and somehow I would combine all the new columns to a big one. But I would love to use something automatic. They way I tryed seems maybe a little bit complicated:
I created a new column with the same values like in column "time" but starting one line later (due to fixed length of the channel, I have lost the last value of the time). Now I subtracted this row from the original one and when the difference was bigger than 1, I knew that here was the beginning of a new average. So I could realize that I got a zero in the "value" column in every line that had this difference bigger than 1. Then I tryed to split my channel via "ChnSplitAtValue" but is wasn't working. If it would work, I would make this splitting-step again and again, calculate the avarage for every (now complete) channel and then put all the channels again together to a big one. The problem now would be the automation. I could split my channel once and the so new created again and again. But this would only work, if i had a fixed number of splits. I have no idea, how I could manage that the column is splitted as often as necessary. In my example it would be twice, but in reality it's different every time, maybe five times or also ten times.
That was my idea of solving this problem, you guys here are very smart, so I think if you don't even have a better idea, you hopefully can help me fixing my problems!
Thank you so very much
makkin

thx to everybody who was thinking about my problem! With more testing than knowing, somehow I finally solved it by myself :smileyvery-happy:

  • Problems with codec ALC 882 on i945 platinum

The essence such, was a parent payment with codec ALC 880, problems were not. Has bought parent payment MSI 945 platinum on it there is codec ALC 882, that is practically one and too. But there is a heap of problems.
    1. Adjustments of sound outputs, namely a linear input
2 are dumped. At a choice from the menu " type of columns " I choose 5.1 and I see instead of two back two lateral columns that is as though has chosen system 7.1 are displayed. Accordingly back columns are silent.
    3. If to choose system 7.1 that columns everyone play, but back play as lateral and there is a strong metal sound, only in back.
     4. The tick of a conclusion of low frequencies on the buffer is dumped.
    Help than can!!!
P.S Windows fresh, the driver put different versions, bios has filled in fresh, has not helped.

Are you using a translator for your English? It's much difficult to understand vs your native language. I was about to ask what do you mean by "parent payment" ? ... Please use your native language here. I probably won't understand but perhaps other forum members here can help you.

  • Problem with an ALC-WKS-007-040 error

    Hi all,
I'm trying to develop a BP with forms in XDP. However this does not work as I get an ALC-WKS-007-040 error when I try to render the form in Workspace. I have tried to set up the renderPDF instead of the default renderer, but I still get an error. When I use PDFs instead of XDPs it works fine (with the default renderer).
What can I do to fix my problem?
    Thanks in advance

I got the same error when trying to Initiate a process in WorkSpace. However, it seems that the problem maybe different from the discussions above.
I am using something similar to the "Samples - Forms - Render PDF form 1.0" to render my XDP form, there's only one xfaForm var.
I put some Loggers in the Render service, and it seems that it got an exception at the "render Form" activity. I'll try to paste some lines in the systemOut.log below if there's room for it.
Note: this render was working fine before, but it stopped working all of a sudden. The only changed to the server (that I know of) was that they changed the network domain of the server. IP address has not been changed though. Restarting/Rebooting the server did not fix the problem.
Any idea how to fix it please?

    Thank you for your reply.
I will re-modify using producer consumer loop.
Now after studying many VIs I have developed my new VI which has sampling time value but I am unable to average. It just gives last value. I applied the shift register I am unable to understand.
Also I want to average every 100th value and I want see the average in the same excel file, in other column.
I wish to capture the files in excel format.

  • Dithering And Averaging With The 6025e Board

    Hi Guys,
I'm trying to acquire a video analog signal, using the 6025e board. I've read that this board is able to dither and/or average the data stream in order to improve the signal and lower the noise.
The problem is that I did not find how to enable/disable dithering or averaging. Can you help me out with that ?
Also, are there any parameters for dithering and averaging that I can additionally control (dither noise level, number of points to average) ?

Hi AnalogKid2DigitalMan, thank you very much for your reply.
First, can you please explain why I can reliably sample only 100KHz signals maximum  ?
Secondly, If you meant that the sampling rate of this board is too slow, then it's okay since we're using a laser scanning microscope which produces a very low rate H-Sync of about (100 - 500 Hz). Our only concern is that in the time between 2 H-Syncs, the board would be fast enough to acquire a given number of pixels. For example say we have H-Sync of 200 Hz, and we would like to have an 1000x1000 image, then the time it takes between 2 H-Syncs is 1/200 = 0.005 sec. We need 1000 pixels during this time, so 1/(0.005/1000) = 200KHZ is the sample rate required for us.
    A. Does anybody know how to activate/disable the dithering and the averaging capabilities of the 6025e board ? ( And if there are parameters that enable more control over these functions ).
    B. Does dithering/averaging lower the effective sample rate of the board ?
    Your help is kindly appreciated.

  • Question about RowNoStr in StatBlockCalc

    Hi,
I'm trying to use StatBlockCalc in a VBS script.  I would like to calculate the average of the last few seconds (3 in the attached script below) of a data channel.  To do this, in my script I am determining what row numbers are the last 3 seconds of the channel.  Then, I am putting this into a "StatBlockCalc" command to calculate the average of these rows.  However, I retrieve the error, "The syntax for the line number is wrong." if I try to put a concatenated string for RowNoStr.  It works if I directly type it in (Row 19 in the script), but the concatenated version doesn't work (Row 21).  What am I doing wrong?  Please help!
    Thank you!

    Hi Julia,
you only have to change the code for the concenated string. Because VBS can handle variants in most cases you can use this simple formula:
    Call StatBlockCalc("Channel", AvgStartRow & "-" & AvgStopRow , MyChnName)
This will work, because VBS perfoms the conversion from numeric to string under the hood.

  • Calculate the average with respect to time (moving average)

    hello,
I am desinging a prototype to detect a kind of cardiac illnesses. I am obtaining beats per minute of heart. At the one of stages of project, I want to calculate the running or moving average of beats per minute at every last 10 seconds. For example, the measurement can continue for 10 minutes, but prototype must calculate the average of beats per minute for last 10 seconds. The time interval must be dynamic (as latest) and adjustable. Additionally, I can adjust the time interval, for example last 10 seconds or last 25 seconds. I will be completely grateful for your helps, thank you

  • Averaging with ni scope

I am using a NI-PXI-5124 and am trying to take a running average of a signal.  I would like the running average to be independent of the while loop I am using to do all the signal analysis. I tried using the example provided by ni "moving average" but this is dependent upon the operating speed of the while loop. I found a way that i think might work but need a conformation. Attached is a picture of a method i thought might work, but i need to know if the NI Scope Read cluster.vi continuously reads a signal into memory. I am running the for loop inside of my main while loop.

You probably want some way to move waveforms efficiently from one loop to another.  The tutorial Managing Large Data Sets in LabVIEW should give you some ideas you can use.  You can then analyze your data in one loop and average in another.  You may want to use the decimation algorithms in the tutorial to speed things up for display.
Another thing to watch out for is that simply averaging your waveforms as you are doing will tend to smear you data over a one sample time width.  This is because the trigger position is more or less randomly distributed in time between two samples.  If this is OK, you can continue as you are.  If not, you can get the exact trigger position from the wfm info cluster of the cluster fetch or the t0 value in the waveform of the waveform fetch, provided you set the timestamp type to relative.  You can then use the resample VIs to shift your waveform in time a subsample amount before doing your averaging.  If your version of LabVIEW does not have the resample VIs, you can use Fourier transforms or Savitzky-Golay filters to do this fairly quickly and easily.  Both techniques are explained in the latest copy of Numerical Recipes in C, by Press et. al.
Good luck.  Let us know if you need more help.

  • Averaging with Frequency Analysis

If I only have one set of data, does averaging affect my results?

In it's most basic form, an average is the sum of all data points divided by the number of data points.  By this definition, the average of a single point will result in that point, so in that sense the result will not change.
If this does not answer your question, please provide more information (i.e. what do you mean by one set of data, and what do you mean by changing the result).

"Good" is a personal opinion, when it comes to audio gear. If there is an Apple Store nearby, you should take your EarPods there and ask if you can connect it to one of the display shuffles, and try it out.
In my personal opinion, the EarPods sound very good in general.

  • Average of the column in ALV report

    Hi,

I am sorting the output table for 2 fields and whenever I am expanding/compressing the sorted fields the average of the column is changing. Please let me know how do I get this average calculated constant. It should not change when the user collapses/expands on the sorted field.

The same question has been asked in this thread:
Compute average of a report column
I have offered a solution but as I've said it's not great but it may meet your needs.
Or another forum user may review and be able to suggest a better solution.
Does the average need to be part of the report?
Could you calculate it and display it within a page item below the report instead?

  • How to calculate an average of YTD measures?

    Hi all,
I'm working on BPC 10 for NW.
We use an account-type dimension for Personnel inventory (Personnel to fixed-term contracts, to permanent contracts, number of executives, staff etc.).
The corresponding ACCTYPE is AST because people are seen as a balance sheet account measure. So the measure, even if we're in periodic in our model, is stored as a YTD value.
I want to calculate a average with those measures, for instance the average number of contractors from january to the current month, with a member formula. I can't manage to do that with a calculation because I can't add values of YTD measures: when I try a formula like ([ACCOUNT].A1 , [MEASURES].[YTD]) it returns the same value as the periodic value. Whereas the formula works with EXP account type.
The formula I'd like to have in the end would be something like that:
    iif(isleaf([TIME].currentmember),avg(YTD(),([Measures].[PERIODIC],[ACCOUNT].[G102])),[TIME].currentmember.lastchild),solve_order=5
This formula works in a previous version of BPC (5.1) but not in BPC 10.
    Any idea?
    Thanks very much,
    Sébastien.

Assuming the job always starts at mid-might, you can try something like this:
    WITH t AS
    (SELECT to_date('01-JUL-2011 07:25:31', 'dd-mon-yyyy hh:mi:ss') AS end_date
    FROM dual
    UNION
    SELECT to_date('02-JUL-2011 07:10:58', 'dd-mon-yyyy hh:mi:ss') AS end_date
    FROM dual
    UNION
    SELECT to_date('01-AUG-2011 07:16:24', 'dd-mon-yyyy hh:mi:ss') AS end_date
    FROM dual)
    SELECT trunc(end_date, 'mon') AS MONTH,
            trunc(end_date, 'mon') + avg(end_date - TRUNC(end_date)) AS AVERAGE_TIME
    FROM t
    GROUP BY TRUNC(end_date, 'mon');

  • Note regarding ATI X1900 XT with Mac Pro, Leopard

To all who are experiencing any of the frequently reported problems with the hardware/software combination listed in the subject heading:
I purchased the ATI X1900 XT as an upgrade fro my Mac Pro in January. I never experienced any issues with the card in OS X Tiger, but several months ago I began to experience overheating issues in Windows XP (Boot Camp) when playing graphics-intensive games. The overheating caused visible graphics corruption/artifacts, graphics system resets and even spontaneous system restarts. The frequency and severity of these symptoms actually increased over time, leading me to believe that the card was either defective or that the overheating was causing degenerative/cumulative damage to the graphics hardware.
I recently upgraded to OS X Leopard, and all **** broke loose. Immediately after upgrading, I began to experience frequent graphics corruption/artifacts (in the form of spurious horizontal lines), system lockups/freezes and spontaneous system restarts. None of these issues were present in Tiger. The system became completely unreliable and essentially unusable.
It was initially a popular belief that Leopard's graphics drivers were somehow buggy or incompatible with the X1900 XT. After my experiences, I don’t believe that’s the case. I think that the issues reported are symptomatic of hardware, not software problems. Leopard is merely a catalyst. Leopard's increased leverage of OpenGL stresses the graphics hardware in ways that Tiger did not, causing an overall increase in graphics hardware temperature. I believe that the glitches/artifacts/system freezes/restarts that I experienced were not due to buggy drivers, but due to the graphics card overheating as a result of the increased load placed on it by Leopard.
I brought my X1900 XT in to my local Apple store today and asked for a replacement. Fortunately, they had one in stock, and they gave me a new card on the spot. The technician was apparently well aware of the issues, and mentioned that they have had a lot of similar problems with new iMacs.
Since installing the new card, I have experienced no graphics corruption, system freezes or spontaneous system restarts, either in OS X Leopard or in Windows XP gaming.
I would urge anyone who is experiencing problems with the X1900 XT (in either Windows or OS X) to have their card replaced by Apple - assuming that their card or system is still under warranty, that is.
I suspect one of two possible scenarios is true:
Theory #1: The Rev 1 X1900 XT is inherently flawed and has problems with overheating, which is exacerbated in OS X by upgrading to Leopard. Due to Leopard's greater leveraging of OpenGL, there is increased thermal stress placed on the card relative to Tiger. The overheating is evident in Leopard as graphics corruption/artifacts, system lockups/freezes and spontaneous restarts. The Rev 2 X1900 XT has (theoretically) corrected the problems inherent in Rev 1.
Theory #2. The thermal management system of the X1900 XT (all revisions) is inherently flawed. The card will slowly cook itself over time, and the effects are degenerative and cumulative. As the age of the card increases, so will the occurrence of graphics corruption, system freezes and spontaneous system restarts, especially when playing graphics-intensive games or running OS X Leopard.
I sincerely hope that Theory #1 is the case. I’ll be watching my system closely as I continue to use the new card, and hopefully there will be no further problems with overheating.
If theory #2 turns out to be true, then Apple has a huge PR nightmare on its hands, as each X1900 XT for the Mac is essentially a ticking time bomb that will self-destruct within months of purchase.
The funny thing is, this isn’t the first time I’ve had graphics card trouble with one of Apple’s “professional” towers. I bought a G5 several years ago when they were first released. I had problems with the stock nVidia graphics card in the form of what came to be known as the dreaded “black screen of death.” This became a commonly reported issue, experienced by many owners of the G5 in its first revision. Apple replaced my card and the problem never reoccurred. I’m hoping that I’ll be as lucky this time around.
I think it’s apparent that Apple’s batting average with graphics cards isn’t exactly stellar. It’s curious, considering that Apple offers a very limited selection of graphics options for their towers. One would think that by Apple only offering 3 graphics options, they would be able to have fairly tight control over the quality of the hardware, and plenty of time and resources to devote to testing. Unfortunately, I’ve had more graphics hardware-related problems on my Macs than any PCs I’ve ever used. That’s embarrassing, and Apple needs to do much better than this.

I replaced my G5 Quad with a Mac Pro 8-core. The Mac Pro's thermal design is far superior to the G5's. The G5 Quad's liquid cooling system has a much bigger task (IBM doesn't publish the thermal dissipation numbers on their PPCs but I suspect they are high) than the more efficient Intel Xeons. The G5 liquid cooling units are troublesome and the issue is something I think Apple is quietly solving by replacing failed liquid cooled G5's (that are still under warranty) with Mac Pros (a very smart PR move). My primary concern when I switched to a Mac Pro was issues with the X1900 XT graphics card failure rates posted on the web and in these discussions. The very latest generation of the X1900 XT (July 2007) are reported to be more reliable. Many G5 owners are still reporting failed cards. Given the much higher thermal environment and the remarks in this thread, I can now see why. The interior of a G5, especially Quad, gets too hot for this ATi card. I had the nVidia GeForce 7800 GT in my Quad. That was a very good card. Still, the issues with the ATi x1900 XT may indeed be a thermal design issue that AMD may need to either address directly, or turn to a 3rd party solution.
I installed a 3rd party cooling alternative, Arctic Cooling's Accelero S1. It's a passive system that replaces that hairdryer fan with a large heat sink. The package includes upgraded heat sinks for the power regulator (much beefier than the stock), and for each memory chip. The heat sink is a large conductive cooling assembly that uses 4 heat pipes. The vendor claims that using this system increases the case temperature by 1°C, which is easily handled by the system cooling system. So far, their claim appears to be valid. Since there's no longer a fan, you can imagine how quiet the system has become. The only installation hitch is that the black support clips were made for the PC version and the Mac Version adds a beefy support rail on the spine of the card. The workaround is to trim off the lower tang of the clips so they just rest against the support rail.
After reading this, I'm tempted to add the "Turbo" option, a couple of high volume low speed fans that fit on the radiator. I'm trying to "stress" the system by running SETI@Home 24/7 while doing all the other work to see how hot and how loud I can get this system. So far, no disappointments. This is the quietest workstation I've ever worked on. Even when "hot", the fans are not loud. The passive cooling system seems to work very well. I left Star Wars-Empire At War up and running in the menu for hours one day and it didn't seem to suffer from any ill effects. I have owned this system for just over a month. I will add more thermal load after I crank the system memory up to 24 or 32 GB. If there are any real cooling issues, I will find out about them next summer. I really dread the prospect of plunking down another $2k for the nVidia 4500 FX (I really don't need the 3D audio support) to get comparable video support.

  • In OBIEE Report Grand Total instead of Average(Average)  use Sum(Avg)?

    Hi All,
In OBIEE Report Grand Total average always shows Average of average (Default) "avg(avg)" , can i overwrite this functionality to sum of average "sum(avg)".
    Thanks in advance

    Hello,
    You can try the following:
Remove the calculate result as setting for the three KFs.
In exception aggregation set property to average with ref char as leave start date.
    Check if it works.
If the above dosent work, set reference char to emplyee ID and check.
Either one of them has to work

  • Sound pressure spectra with SVT

    Hey all,
I have a project which I have been having a bit of trouble implementing. I'm performing several measurements at 48kHz/24Bit of some sound events. My requirement are as follows for sound pressure spectra analysis.
    500 - 20 kHz frequency bandwidth with a 25 Hz frequency resolution.
Peak  Hold  averaging  with  50%  overlap  processing  and  Hanning  windowing  applied  to  the time records.
    Anti-aliasing filtering.
    A - weighting.
I have the sound and vibration toolkit and have implemented as follows:
    1. Read wav
    2. Convert from Volts to dB via SVL Scale Volts to EU.vi. (I used a calibrated signal of 94dB at 1kHz to find my mic sensitivity).
    3. A-weighting using SVL A,B,C Weighting Filter.vi
    4. Peform analysis using SVL Zoom Power Spectrum.vi.
    Few Issues:
I dont know how to implement the Anti-aliasing filter.
Is the method I have used ok with measuring sound spectra? Or should I perform the FFT then convert to dB?
I have tried to implement the same analysis using Matlab and although I get the same FFT profile, my dB levels are different where the 16kHz noise is almost the same level as the 8kHz noise? Not sure what is happening there, but I want to concentrate on using LV for now.
I dont have any guidance available or experience with this sort of analysis. I have trialed my program out on a sample wav file which has two separate distinct noises events, one at 8kHz and another at 16kHz. My FFT is showing that the 16kHz is a much higher sound level (95dB) than the 8kHz (80dB) but when I listen to the wav via a pair of studio monitor speakers, the 8kHz is much more audible. Wouldn't the implementation of A-weighting filter tend to make the 8kHz noise more prevalent in the FFT?
Any suggestions on this topic are appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Hi David,
If you want to enable the enhanced alias filter, you can use a DAQmx channel property node. I would recommend placing a DAQmx Channel property node on the block diagram and then going to Analog Input » General Properties » Advanced » Enhanced Alias Rejection Enable. See if that works and let me know.
