Avoid empty validation on DropdownByKey

Hi!
How to avoid the unwanted validation of blank entry selection, created by the framework, when rendering a Dropdown on Web Dynpro Mobile?
The problem is:
- We have a Dropdown UI element bounded to a list from BAPI output table;
- On the application, the user selects a value and fires any action, by pressing a button or something;
- Then he remember that this field ought to be empty and select the blank entry;
- On firing any other action, even a roundtrip to the server, a validation occurs, with error message like "Value ' ' not on the enumeration range"...
Is there a solution on this?
Ps: We are using WindowsMobile5 devices.

Quick question, what is supposed to happen if the user never selects anything from the list? Is a selection manditory?

    The RPL/HTMl viewer , PDF works fine, but  when we export data into excel empty rows are comming.
    Could  you please suggest how can we avoid empty space in Excel Export.
    we have kept the cell (width and height ) same as SubReport Width and height.

    Hi SubhadipRoy,
    According to your description, did you use separate subreport to display the data rather than insert subreport in tablix?
    Based on my test, if we are use separate subreport to display the data in the report, when we export to Excel we will get an additional row. We can adjust the minimum gap between tablix and subreport to work around the issue. In SSRS 2012, if we paste tablix
    and subreport without empty space in report design, it will not display the additional row. You can try to put the tablix and subreport in a rectangle to resolve the issue.

  • Avoiding empty-file creation

    Hi,
    Is there any way to avoid empty file creation on the receiver side? I am using variable-substituton for file naming.
    Thanks,
    Vishal

    Vishal,
    Once I faced a similar issue, a 0kb file though empty file creation "ignore" option was creating empty files.
    Try to avoid empty files creation using
    1. Receiver determination where you can check for required field, and generate target only if it appears
    1. Message mapping by not generating a target structure
    Again, it depends on your requirement on when these empty messages are getting created...
    Can you tell us, on what cases is this empty file is getting created?

    If you're not wanting the alternative row highlighting in empty rows, you can modify the caspian.css to change this. Off the top of my head, you'll want to set a rule in your CSS along the following lines:
    .list-cell:odd:empty {
        -fx-background-color: white;
    }If you are not wanting the alternate row highlighting in any rows, you'll want to do something like this:
    .list-cell:odd {
        -fx-background-color: white;
    }Hope that helps,

  • How to avoid JMS validation when starting weblogic server

    Hi All,
    When starting up WebLogic server, it will validate JMS destinations one by one for deployed applications.
    If I don't connect the VPN, then these JMS destinations are not reachable, and WebLogic Server will spend a lot of time to try connecting to these JMS destinations.
    Thus it will take a lot of time to startup the WebLogic Server.
    How can I disable JMS validation when starting weblogic server?
    Thanks and Regards!

    Hi Daniel,
    By blank do you mean that the screen is black? Is it gray? Is it blue? The word "blank" is vague when trying to determine and isolate startup issues.

    Hi Guys,
    On my order entries application I have these attributes :

    Batch
    User only enters ProdCode and Qty, the application will then pick the warehouse and batch where the product and the quantity is available.
    So I put the logic inside validateEntity method and SETs the WHCode and Batch Attributes from within it. Here comes the problem, this cause ERROR :

    Where else can I put this logic ? that executes only ONCE per entity ?
    (If I put the logic in the setProdCode and setQty methods, it will be called twice , isn't it ?)

  • Required Validation: How to avoid Annoying Validation Message

    Hi friends,
    I have a situation where i don't want to see the validation until i click commit button. I found out through some googling that if SkipValidation= true is set on pageDef file then you won't have that issue. And yes it seems working for form/sub-form case but i am dealing with attribute in the table:
    When i insert new row in the af:table or clear value of an existing required attribute then the validation error popup and won't let me go anyway. And according to Andrejus blog at http://andrejusb.blogspot.com/2012/09/what-to-do-when-adf-editable-table.html , we can achieve this using immediate= true for the table attribute itself. But I am kind of worried that i will skip some adf life cycle doing that. I was wondering if there is some other may be out of box way like skipValidation for table as well.
    Thanks
    JDEV: 11.1.1.6.0

    Hi Timo,
    Sorry not helpful at all, i have already mentioned in my question that, skipValidation = true approach won't work for editable table only for form/sub-form and only working solution i have it setting table attribute to immediate, but i was looking to see if any other approach is there which is better then immediate = true, since i will skip some life cycle if i do so.
    Thanks

    by the book these two representations are identical

    What problem are you facing with the <... /> representation?

    either this way we can do this
    1)
    DocumentBuilderFactory factory = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance();
    <b> factory.setIgnoringElementContentWhitespace(true); </b>
    DocumentBuilder db = factory.newDocumentBuilder();
    or
    2)
    java.io.StringWriter sw = new java.io.StringWriter();
    StreamResult sr = new StreamResult(sw);
    t.transform(new DOMSource(doc), sr);
    String xml1 = sw.toString().trim();
    <b> xml1=xml1.replaceAll("\\s",""); </b>
    System.out.println(xml1.trim());

  • Update model, even when required field(s) is/are empty

    Hello,
    A rather exotic question. :-) EDIT: using JDEV 11.1.1.4
    Suppose you have a form that consists of inputTexts and some of them are required (required = true). These come from a data control that is based on a BPM Human Task.
    What my customer wants is two buttons: one submit button, and one save button.
    The submit button behaves normally: when a required field is not entered, a validation error is shown.
    The save button on the other hand, will perform a model update without complaining, even though some required fields could be empty. This would be the Save operation on the BPM Data Control: the values that the user entered are saved (in the BPM engine), but the process does not continue. It's like saving a draft version of the fields you entered, so you can continue filling in the form for example the next day.
    How can I achieve this? Where I have gotten so far:
    *) If I do not make the "Save" button "immediate", then the client side validation will keep on complaining about the empty required fields.
    *) If I make the "Save" button "immediate", then the client side validation is skipped. But the Update Model Values phase is also not executed, so values that the user entered are not stored in BPM. Too bad.
    My plan now is making the button immediate, and then overriding page life cycle in case the Save button is pressed. I already created my own implementation of oracle.adf.controller.v2.lifecycle.PagePhaseListener. In the afterPhase() method, I then wanted to check if the current phase is the "Apply request Values" phase (if the button is immediate, then this is the last phase before the "Render Response" phase), and if so, manually call the updateModelValues phase, like this:
        public void afterPhase(PagePhaseEvent pagePhaseEvent) {
            int id = pagePhaseEvent.getPhaseId();
            if(pagePhaseEvent.getPhaseId() == 10 && <user has clicked the SAVE button, not the Submit button>){ // APPLY REQ VALUES
              LifecycleContext ctx = pagePhaseEvent.getLifecycleContext().getCurrentInstance();
              ctx.getPageController().processUpdateModel(ctx);
        }The <user has clicked the SAVE button, not the Submit button> condition will be done through a variable on session scope that is set to true/false depending on the button (save or submit) that was pressed, by using a setActionListener on that button.
    Unfortunately, the model is still not updated and I'm kind of stuck... Can anyone help me?
    Am I barking up the wrong tree and can this be done a lot easier, or what am I missing?
    Thanks a lot!

    Hello Frank,
    Thanks for your quick reply.
    The application is actually a bounded task flow that is based on a human task. So after selecting the human task, JDev automatically creates a task flow, and the Data Controls required to show, update, reject, approve, ... the task.
    What I do next is drag & drop the payload of the task from the Data Control Palette to my page, and I create buttons for all the necessary operations (such as approve, reject, ...), also from the Data Control Palette. If you then deploy the application, it is automatically associated with the human task, and the page is shown in the Worklist application after selecting an instance of the task.
    The operation that I am interested in is called "update", which basically, through the ADF Data Control and ADF model, sends the updated fields back to the BPM engine and saves the updated fields there (in memory, or in the DB, I don't know, but this doesn't matter). This operation is provided by default when creating a task flow based on a human task, and works perfectly if there are no required fields, or if all required fields are submitted. So "temporarily" saving the fields is not the issue.
    What I want to achieve now, is have some fields that are required when the user clicks "approve" (one of the basic operations on a task), but optional with the user clicks "update" (another basic operation of a task). Approve would make the process itself continue and the task would no longer be assigned to the user. Update on the other hand would just update the payload in the BPM engine, but the task remains assigned to the user and the process doesn't continue. So if the user logs in at some point later in time, this task (with updated fields) will still be available in his inbox.
    The first thing I noticed is that client side validation cannot be disabled anymore in ADF 11g, so the "update" button has to be set to immediate to avoid the validation of the required fields at client side. But if the "update" button is immedate, then the update model values phase in the page life cycle is skipped, so the data that the user entered is never submitted to BPM. Whereas if I set the "update" button to immedate="false", this works just fine. If all required fields are entered, that is. :-)
    So - in my opinion - there would be 2 possible approaches if there are fields that should be required for the "approve" operation and optional for the "update" operation.
    - Disable the client side validation and don't set the update button to immediate
    - Make the "update" button immediate, but force the lifecycle to still perform Update Model Values, if the "update" button is used
    The second approach would be the cleanest, but I'm unable to figure out how to do this... I'm a little bit lost in all the classes that are available. :-)
    I hope this clarifies my problem...
    Regards,
    Chris

    Is anybody having any suggestions for that ?.
    Help needed urgently.
    Thanks and regards,

    Thanks for the prompt help. Is there any other way instead of removing the DTD line ?. Because the xml is coming as a string and removing the dtd and then adding it will unneccesary hamper performance. Do you any other way in which even though I don't remove the line I get the output without removing the dtd line ?.
