Azure SQL Reporting - Installing Fonts - Status after 10/31/14

As Azure is moving reporting service to VM.
Is it possible to get fonts installed on SQL Reporting with out migrating to VM until the 2015 deadline?
IF so how do we get the fonts onto the SQL reporting environment?
Thanks

  • Azure Sql Reporting Service external Image

We are working on Sql Azure Reporting Services, we have a situation where we need to display client logo on report. We are passing Image path (URL) as parameter
to the report which works fine on normal windows server reporting services, but when we move to Sql Azure Reporting it fails to show image on report e.g. image path can be like "http://p.lui.li/img-30718_images_j-r-full.jpg".
Any help will be highly appreciated.

Thanks for your question. Unfortunately we are in the process of deprecating SQL Reporting services.  Full details are available at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg430130.aspx

  • Do I need to install Font files after adding new languages to EBS

    Hi All,
I added Spanish and Portuguese languages to my 12.1.3 EBS (Enterprise Linux 5). As per post steps of MOS doc 788053.1, I just wanted to confirm whether I need to execute the step to install font files or not:
I need to do if one of below conditions is true in my case:
    1) Multiple languages from different native character sets are active
    2) The operating system of the node that contains the Web server is not configured with the required language support for the active languages
What does point 1 exactly mean ? and how to confirm point 2 ?
    Thanks

Just because an interface can run that resolution...... remember, it's mainly used as a selling point.
Consider the final target... CD?  44.1kHz/16 bit, DVD 96kHz/24bit All of the compressed formats (mp3..etc.) lower than CD quality.
Plus.... you would have to have a pristine listening room, very high end monitors and amplification to hear a difference, even if you could. Most people fail blindfold tests and can't tell the difference between 44.1/24-bit and 96 or 192. More important is the bit rate, use 24-bit at 44.1 or 48kHz and you will save on resources and file size. A 192kHz audio file uses 4 times the bandwidth of a 44.1 file, add to that, effects and VI become enormous bandwidth hogs at that resolution.
Three or four audio tracks, a couple of Space Designers, Sculpture and an ES2 at 192kHz can bring the fastest Mac Pro to it's knees.

  • SQL Report Program Name Status

I have this report that I need to modify. The problem here is that some of our deployments uses the same program/package but different advertisement. For example, I have package "ABC version 1" with program name "Install ABC version 1".
For this particular package I have two advertisement namely "Deployment A - ABC" and "Deployment B - ABC". Now when I run the report below I am encountering the error:
Subquery returned more than 1 value. This is not permitted when the subquery follows =, !=, <, <= , >, >= or when the subquery is used as an expression
I am encountering this error since I have two advertisement for a particular package/program. Is there a way I can use array on this report and how do I achieve this?
    declare @Total int
    declare @Accepted int
    declare @AdvertID char(20)
    --declare @OUname char(150)
    set @AdvertID = (SELECT AdvertisementID FROM v_Advertisement WHERE ProgramName = @PckName)
    select @Total=count(*), @Accepted=sum(case LastState when 0 then 0 else 1 end)
    from v_ClientAdvertisementStatus
join v_RA_System_SystemOUName ou with (NOLOCK) on ou.ResourceID=v_ClientAdvertisementStatus.ResourceID
    where AdvertisementID=@AdvertID and ou.System_OU_Name0 = @OUname
select LastAcceptanceStateName as C013, count(*) as C015,
          ROUND(100.0*count(*)/@Total,1) as C016, AdvertisementID, @OUname as AD_OU
    from v_ClientAdvertisementStatus
join v_RA_System_SystemOUName ou with (NOLOCK) on ou.ResourceID=v_ClientAdvertisementStatus.ResourceID
    where AdvertisementID=@AdvertID and ou.System_OU_Name0 = @OUname
    group by LastAcceptanceStateName, AdvertisementID
select LastStateName as C017, count(*) as C015,
           ROUND(100.0*count(*)/@Accepted,1)  as C016, AdvertisementID, @OUname as AD_OU
    from v_ClientAdvertisementStatus
join v_RA_System_SystemOUName ou with (NOLOCK) on ou.ResourceID=v_ClientAdvertisementStatus.ResourceID
    where AdvertisementID=@AdvertID and LastState!=0 and ou.System_OU_Name0 = @OUname
    group by LastStateName, AdvertisementID

    set @AdvertID = (SELECT AdvertisementID FROM v_Advertisement WHERE ProgramName = @PckName)
Haven't tried running the query, but it seems as if this line might return more than one row which then will cause "where
AdvertisementID=@AdvertID" to fail. You could use the "having" clause instead:
http://technet.microsoft.com/de-de/library/ms180199.aspx or "where AdvertisementID in (SELECT AdvertisementID FROM v_Advertisement WHERE ProgramName = @PckName)".

  • Add SQL reporting services to get Azure sql db data

    Dear all,
I have read recently that SQL server reporting services as been remmoved from Azure services. I have a SQL server database on azure which collect different type of data which are collected from a web admin portal by my users.
I have a strong need to bring to that admin web portal a flexible reporting solution for my users to monitor collected data.
Of course I can bring dash board to web application but often it is painful to change web app when a user want different type of report.
What could be the way now to use online reporting service in orde to bring online report for my user of my sql azure database ?
    regards
    serge

    Hi serge,
Based on my understanding, you want to use SQL Azure database to design the report, right?
    As you mentioned,
Azure SQL Reporting is officially discontinued, so that we can’t design reports with Azure SQL Reporting. However, only the Azure cloud implementation of SQL Reporting is discontinued. All other forms of Reporting Services technology are unaffected. In
Reporting services, it’s supported connect to SQL Azure database. So in your scenario, you can connect to the SQL Azure database to design the report. For more information, please refer to this article:
How to connect to SQL Azure using SQL Server Reporting Services 2008 R2.
If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

    Hello,
do you have already a solution for this issue? I got the same problem today...

  • Sql Server Web Edition Reporting Services errors when trying to connect to Windows Azure SQL

I am using a preconfigured image from the Azure VM Gallery to create a VM.
    --> Sql Server 2012 SP1 Web running under Windows Server 2008 R2
After configuring Reporting Services I get the following error when trying to run a report that connects to my Azure SQL db.
An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted)
An attempt has been made to use a data extension 'SQLAZURE' that is either not registered for this report server or is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services. (rsDataExtensionNotFound)
On the VM using SSMS I can connect to the Azure SQL db.  On the VM in Report Builder when I define a connection I get a similar error to the one above when I test that connection.  I am using Microsoft Azure SQL as the data source type.
Interestingly in Report Builder, if I proceed past the connection definition, I can see the tables from my Azure SQL db in the dataset definition page.
One more note.  If I use a different image from the Gallery (Sql Server 2012 Standard SP1 on Windows Server 2012) my report builder connection works and the reports run fine.  I believe that the Azure documentation says that Sql Server Web edition
is an acceptable choice for the SSRS on VM for reporting.
    Any thoughts or suggestions?
    Thanks -- Tom Reilly

    Hello,
A VM with SQL Server 2008 R2 or 2012 supports all Reporting Services features, including all supported data sources, customization and extensibility, and scheduled report execution and delivery.
Did you run the report in Report Manager,or preview the report in Report Builder? Which version of the Report Builder you installed in the Windows Azure VM? SQL Reporting does not support reports created from Report Builder 1.0 or 2.0. You can create reports
using Report Builder 3.0 and then upload the reports.
What's more, please also check the database source credential of the report.

  • Installed SQL Reporting Services 2012 on SharePoint 2013 Server. SQL Reporting Service not available In the list of runnning services or new service applications

Hi I'm trying to setup SQL reporting services in a SharePoint 2013 farm consisting of:
    4 WFE's
4 App Servers (NLB Central Admin x 4 servers)
4 App Severs for SSRS (Light limited SharePoint services running)
I've installed SSRS 2012 SP1 by following the guide (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg492276.aspx) on one of the SSRS SharePoint 2013 servers and ensuring Reporting Services - SharePoint and Reporting Services Add-in for SharePoint Products is selected.
All completed without errors and I have even upgraded to SP2 for troubleshooting but no joy.
I've then gone into SharePoint Central Admin and I cannot see SQL Reporting Service available In the list of runnning services on the server I have just installed SSRS on and going to manage service applications I cannot see in the new dropdown menu SQL
    Reporting Services.
I have ran the following commands in the SHarePoint management shell:
    Install-SPRSService and Install-SPRSSeviceProxy
    and
    get-spserviceinstance -all |where {$_.TypeName -like "SQL Server Reporting*"} | Start-SPServiceInstance
The reply was that the service was already online on the server.
So in powershell all seems ok but it does not appear in central administration.
I have also moved Central Administration to the SSRS SharePoint server too.
Any other suggestions? Here is the same problem but in SP2010 (http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/6a21cc05-1f9b-49ad-a9bb-44aa5b3ce312/action?threadDisplayName=after-installing-sql-reporting-services-service-for-sharepoint-2012-service-is-not-in-the-list-of)
In my lab environment of a 4 server SP2013 farm it worked immediately when i installed it on the app server (CA host) so I dont think it is my install strategy.
I guess my next attempt is to install SSRS on an app server with central administration hosted.
    Thanks

I had the same issue on 2 different environments.
I had 2 application servers. One had Central Administration. I installed SSRS on the other one and it never appeared in the Service Applications in SharePoint.
When I also provisioned Central Administration on the other application server and went to the service applications using Central Admin on that server, the SSRS service application was there.
Since then I always install SSRS on the server which hosts Central Admin. No issues then.

  • Using Azure internal load balancer (ILB) for Sql Reporting Services

I am attempting to implement a scale-out SSRS deployment using the Azure ILB feature. I have created 2 Sql Reporting servers using the azure images and have created a ILB endpoint on both servers.  I am then attempting to access the servers via the
ILB from my .Net web application.  I can access the report server from my browser and am prompted for credentials using forms authentication.  there is no issue accessing the reports from a browser however my web application cannot access the reports
and returns a 500 error.  I have a hunch this is due to an authentication issue due to invalid kerberos proxy authentication.
Does anyone have any information regarding the possible authentication mechanisms that are supported using Azure ILB?

Thanks for the response Swallow0417, but as I stated I already had configured this to work in a browser.  I should have mentioned that I already had set the machine key and altered the rsreportserver.config file as mentioned in
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc281307.aspx.
It turns out this was due to the extended data validation that was introduced in SQL 2014.
This page led me to alter rsreportserver.config so that:
    <RSWindowsExtendedProtectionLevel>Off</RSWindowsExtendedProtectionLevel>
    <RSWindowsExtendedProtectionScenario>Any</RSWindowsExtendedProtectionScenario>
After restarting the report server service my application now can make the requests for the reports successfully.  I'll provide the other steps I took to hopefully help someone else in the future:
    1. Create 2 or more SQL servers in an Azure availability group on the same service in a Reports server scale out deployment.  The SSRS Service account must be a domain account or it will not work
    2. Create an Azure ILB using powershell and add the endpoints on your http(s) ports on the server in step 1. I also set the endpoint IdleTimeoutInMinutes to 30 on both endpoints as it seemed like there was some possible timeout issues. the endpoint MUST
also have DirectServerReturn Set to $true
    3. disable the loopbackcheck see method 2 here
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/896861
create a DWORD registry key value 1,
    DisableLoopbackCheck,
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa
    4. Configure View state validation by setting an identical machine key on all servers behind the azure ILB
    5. Create a Host record in your AD DNS for the Azure ILB IP Address.
    6. configure hostname
and URLRoot in rsreportserver.config - see
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc281307.aspx
Setting the hostname tag breaks the report manager url. It is only
required to set the URLRoot tag. I do not think it is required in this configurtaion only for Windows
    NLB
    6. Configure the authentication method in rsreportserver.conig
      <RSWindowsExtendedProtectionLevel>Off</RSWindowsExtendedProtectionLevel>
      <RSWindowsExtendedProtectionScenario>Any</RSWindowsExtendedProtectionScenario>

  • Running Azure SQL database and reporting services native mode?

I would like to stand-up a remote Azure SQL Server to do Master Data Services (MDS) and SSRS in native mode. Can this be done from one Azure SQL Server instance?
    William H. Neville Jr.

    Hello,
Master Data Services (MDS)not supported by Microsoft Azure SQL Database.
In order to meet your requirement, you can try to create a SQL Server virtual machine in Azure, it similar to on-premises SQL Server installed on VM. It also install the SSRS and you can try to configure the SSRS in native mode.
To run Master Data Services in a virtual machine in Azure, you should also install the Web Server (Internet Information Services) and Silverlight, and also configure Master Data Services by using Master Data Services Configuration Tool (MDSConfigTool.exe).

    Hi Ivgoran,
I did a repro for the issue that you are having, I am having SSMS which is on CU6 and it lists the stored procedure.
Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio      12.0.2480.0
Microsoft Analysis Services Client Tools      12.0.2480.0
Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC)      6.3.9600.17415
    Microsoft MSXML      3.0 6.0
    Microsoft Internet Explorer      9.11.9600.17728
    Microsoft .NET Framework      4.0.30319.34014
    Operating System      6.3.9600
Although upgrading SSMS + Client tools connectivity to CU5 should work as we have published in below link as well --
    http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/articles/sql-database-manage-azure-ssms/)
But as we have released a SP and it has covered many other issues like .bacpac import and DAC publishing, I would request you to update SSMS and client tools connectivity to SP1.

  • Reporting Services Point SSL after Role installed

    Scenario,
Reporting Services (SQL 2012) installed on a remote server and not configured with SSL.  Reporting Services Point installed and functioning correctly.
We now have enabled SSL in RS Configuration using a cname for the certificate (sccmreports.domain.com) and it is working via web browser, however when I attempt to remove the port 80 binding it breaks SCCM's ability to connect to the reporting point via
the admin console.   Presumably, if SSL is not enabled prior to installing the RSP that SCCM only knows to connect via HTTP?
If this is the case, outside of uninstalling and re-installing the RSP now is there a way to "tell" SCCM to use HTTPS to connect?  Maybe its a different issue altogether?
    Thanks!

The SSRS connection info is stored in Site control file, which is in the view vSMS_SC_SiteControlXML. If you change the SSRS address manually, the info cannot be updated automatically so that you must reinstall SSRS.

  • Unable to get SQL Server Agent to run after installing SQL 2012 Standard with SP1

I am unable to get SQL Server Agent to run after installing SQL 2012 Standard with SP1. Log message is as follows:
Attempting to load library 'xplog70.dll' into memory. This is an informational message only. No user action is required.
Failed to verify Authenticode signature on DLL 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\Binn\xplog70.dll'.
    Error: 17750, Severity: 16, State: 0.
Could not load the DLL xplog70.dll, or one of the DLLs it references. Reason: (null).

    Hi JFriedley,
According to your error message, there might three reasons for this issue.
xplog70.dll is corrupt, you need to check if you have any SQL Server running on same file version and same production
edition. If xplog70.dll is corrupt, you can copy it from the new server where agent is running fine to your problematic server.
Native client not installed properly. If you try applying any latest Service Pack or Cumulative Update then check if the SQL Server Agent can start, if that also doesn’t solve issue then try to reinstalling SQL Server Native client from SQL Server setup
    files.
There is a similar issue about error 17750, you can review the following article.
