[B1-V9] Cancel automatic depreciation run/Fixed Assets

Dear Expert,
Could you please let'us know how to cancel automatic depreciation in fixed assets
Depereciation : Depreciation run
Possibility to cancel capitalization: yes
Version: 9 , PL:09
Thank you for your feedback
Kind regards,
Med

Hi
Below is the SAP Note for Cancel Depreciation.
1974682 - Posted Depreciation is cleared after Captalization is canceled
Symptom
Posted Depreciation in Fixed Asset Master Data ->Depreciation tab is cleared after Captalization is canceled.
Reproducing the issue
Prerequisites:
Enable Fixed Assets is ticked Administration->System Initialization->Company Details->Basic Initialization.
Scenario:
1. Define a Fixed Asset
2. Create AP invoice (Purchasing AP->AP Invoice) or Capitalization (Financials->Fixed Assets->Capitalization) for fixed asset and planned depreciation for each month is 100 for example
3. Run depreciation to post depreciation for this asset, for example 400 is shown in 'Posted Depreciation' column in Fixed Assets Master Data ->Depreciation Tab
4.  Cancel  the document you have created in step 2 via Data->Cancel
Actual behavior:
In fixed asset add-on: The posted depreciation remains in the 'Posted Depreciation' column in Fixed Assets Master Data ->Depreciation Tab
In Business One version 9.0: Value in 'Posted Depreciation' column in Fixed Assets Master Data ->Depreciation Tab is cleared.
Cause
Behavior change.
Solution
In Business One version 9.0, there are three status for asset master data, which are "New", "Active" and "Inactive". If the status of the asset is "New" after its first capitalization is cancelled, no data would be shown in the grid in Asset Master Data's Depreciation tab. But users can still run depreciation again to clear the posted depreciation.
And In Business One version 9.0, users can define the default behavior when canceling the first capitalization document via Document Settings form -> Per Document tab, and choose Capitalizatindocument -> check box 'Deactivate Fixed Asset After Capitalization is Cancelled'. If this check box is chosen, the status of asset master data will be "Inactive" after its first capitalization is cancelled, otherwise, the status will be "New".

  • Tax depreciation for fixed asset in Singapore

    Dear all,
One of our client in Singapore want to run tax depreciation in fixed asset module as below .
They want to run depreciation with stright line method pro rata by the year of useful life
and the depreciation will be posted only once a year at the first period of the year that acqusition.
(No matter when they acqusition the asset)
For example : if they do acqusition an asset = 300,000  S$  on any date in year 2009 with useful life 5 years,
the depreciation should be posted as below:
    Depreciation per year = 300,000/5  = 60,000
    31-Jan-09     Depreciation should be posted = 60,000
    31-Jan-10     Depreciation should be posted = 60,000
    31-Jan-11     Depreciation should be posted = 60,000
    31-Jan-12     Depreciation should be posted = 60,000
    31-Jan-13     Depreciation should be posted = 60,000
How shuold I can do the configuration for this requirement ?    Please kindly advise.
    Mary_K

    Hi Mary,
I'm from Singapore. Here's how you will configure the system.
Create a dep area for Tax depreciation. You should create new Period Control Method (AFAMP) where you will assign 06 period control to acq, add, ret, trn. 06 means start of the fiscal year.
After that, you create a "Dep Key" to assign this period control method. Then in the dep area per asset class, assign this dep key to the tax dep area.
The system will default the start of dep for tax the start of the fiscal year regardless of when it was acquired within the FY.

  • Doubt on Depreciation in Fixed Assets Module

    Dear Members,
When we run depreciation we have an option to select the "Close Period" check box and Oracle Standard user guide says that "Depreciation can be run as many times as needed in the current period as long as it is not closed".
Now when we run depreciation by selecting the check box "Close Period" we can see the amount depreciated for the assets in the period.
Navigation we use to see the amount depreciated for the period is:
    Fixed Assets Super User-->Inquiry-->Financial Information-->Books(B)
But if we run the depreciation without selecting the check box "Close Period" we cannot see the amount depreciated for the assets in the period.
Can any one explain us what is the reason?
If user wants to see the depreciation amount for certain assets before closing the period then where he can see the amount?
Thanks in advance for your valuable replies.
    Best Regards

    Hello,
    Steps:
    a) Are you querying the Correct Asset?
    b) Are you querying the Correct Asset Book?
If you have added a new assets in the same period and run the depreciation without checking the checkbox then the system will calculate the deprecation.
Please reply what is the question you need to ask
What is the actual problem r u facing.

  • Oracle tables to store the data for Run Depreciation  in Fixed Assets

    Hi All,
When we do Run Depreciation without closing the period, what backend tables store this information that the Depreciation is run without closing the period.
I have to apply a logic in one of my package, which would be applied only if preliminary depreciation (i.e. depreciation is run without closing the period) is not done.
    Regards,
    Shruti

    Hi,
The table name is FA_DEPRN_PERIODS. This table cotains the infomation about the Depreciation periods.
Here you will find a column DEPRN_RUN which indicates whether depreciation is run for the period.
you can use the below query for finding out the period where depreciation is run but period is still open.
    select * from FA_DEPRN_PERIODS x
    where x.DEPRN_RUN = 'Y'
    and x.PERIOD_CLOSE_DATE is null
I hope your question is answered.

  • Ord depreciation for fixed asset

    Hi,
I have raised a credit memos of -$20 to bring down the value of the asset, however under the ord depreciation column is reflected as $60? I am suspecting is because the end of FY is another 3 more periods therefore the amount is multiple by 3x but i could not confirm my answer. The rest of the amount posted for external acq and transfer is reflected as the value being posted but not multiple of 3x. What is the impact or any setting that I have not done to derived such figure?
    Pls advise.
    Thank you.

if the asset is retired and then you create new asset. After created, you acquire the asset and use manual depreciation to depreciate it.

  • Depreciation calculation for Indian Tax Depreciation Area - Fixed Assets

Can any one of you kindly advice how to setup the Multi levels methods and Period controls for Tax Depreciation key in Indian Tax Depreciation area.
My Leading ledger Fiscal year: Jan u2013 Dec (Year dependend)
And Non-leading ledger (India) Fiscal year: April u2013 March (Year dependend)
I was able to post correct depreciation for leading and non-leading ledger Depreciation areas with a stated percentage. But the calculation of Tax depreciation area is incorrect.
As per client requirement, Tax depreciation area is setup only reporting purpose and no Depreciation posting.
Required Depreciation Calculation for Tax Depreciation Area:
    For Acquires & Additions,
    Rule1:
If it is >=180 days (as per Non-leading ledger Fiscal year) the system should calculate depreciation as stated percentage. Eg: 10%
    Rule2:
If it is <180 days (as per Non-leading ledger Fiscal year) the system should calculate depreciation of 50% on stated percentage. Eg: Stated percentage is 10%, then it should be 5%.
    Early responses will be appreciated.
    Thanks much for the help.

    Bapu

    Hi JBC,
please search this Forum, I think basic questions about Indian tax depreciation have been asked dozen of times in this Forum here. You should find some answers in earlier threads.

  • Fixed Assets: Changing Category, Depreciation, life

    hi
i have an requirement where we need to change asset category, depreciation method, no depreciation and life(1 month). And want to make total depreciation to zero.
    Ex:
    Asset#A1 already depreciated some amount.
Original category X and degault rules are set to Depreciable.
Defined to new category Y and associate default rules to all CORP and TAX books to not depreciate.
Changed from category X to Y
Now after reclassification, it is depreciating entire amount of the asset and posting to current open period. As the reclassification does not default the new category depreciation flag, it is depreciating entire fixed asset cost immediately. I didn't run depreciation.
Now how do i change YTD depreciation to zero?
Thanks in advance for all your suggestions.....
    Need it immediately.....

Hmm, did you not test this out in a test environment first before doing this in production? Can you be specific on the choices that you made when you changed this asset? Maybe you chose to expense the adjustment in the current period rather than to amortize? Because you originally had it in a depreciable status, then changing it to new financial information, looks like it is choosing to expense the remaining asset cost immediately (which is why you are getting depreciation without having run depreciation). You may need to contact Oracle support at this point to find out how to best recover from this. Though if just one asset, you can just do a journal entry to reverse the depreciation. Then you would want to contact support to find out what is the best way in the future to make this kind of change. The documentation unfortunately does not address the kind of change you were making here. Doe show that it is important to get the depreciation setup correct before activating an asset.

  • Fixed Assets - buggy

    Hi experts,
I need an explanation urgently so that I can EXPLAIN to my client why following is happening in fixed assets add-on:
5 assets registered (with acquisition) on 15 Jan 2010, depreciation start date by 1st day of current period = 01 Jan 2010
4 registered assets have its depreciation start date to 01 April 2010 and the other remains same.
2 out of 4 assets with changed of depreciation start date have no value when users check on the Depreciation tab (Planned Depreciation) in Fixed Asset Master Data while the others two have value. Obviously, those without value in Planned Depreciation will not have posting when we start the depreciation run. NO DEPRECIATION!!!!!!!!
    Please advice.

I have the same problem. Is there currently a patch that eliminates this bug (migrate FA categories through the iSetup). OEBS 12.1.3.

  • Fixed Assets Reporting

    Hi All,
I have a customer who has many company databases and is running Fixed Assets.
They want to be able to print and file asset schedules after each depreciation run for each company.
The current version does not allow printing of the Asset History Sheet, and exporting to Excel adds a lot of extra work to get page breaks and company names on each report.
Has anyone developed a query for this report? I would like to solve their issue by use of a query and a print layout for them
    Thanks

Is this a US customer running the SAP Fixed Assets add-on? I hope not becuase that add-on is not supported by SAP in the US

    Hi,
Actually they are not going to standard reports as Revaluation amount we are creating User defined fields and that needs to be fetched to the report. As well they want original cost, depreciation original cost, Revaluation amount and depreciation on revaluation separately..
As per my understand system will provide one cost and the depreciation on that.
So, can somebody help me in guiding me..
    Thanks in advance.

  • Stop Depreciation of an Asset

    Hi Gurus,
We have an asset that was capitalized last March 2011with useful life of 3years.  To be specific, the item is a television set.
Goods receipt was transacted last March for this asset with ttype 120 with an entry of Dr. Asset and Cr. GR/IR Clearing Account.
2 months of depreciation were already posted last April and May 2011.
The problem is that the department head told our accounting dept that this item should not be treated as an asset and should be charged to a personal expense.
Kindly advise on how we can stop the depreciation this month June and the succeeding months.  Pls advise also on how can we correct the previous postings that were already made on this asset (GR and depreciation) given that the books for the previous months were already closed.
    Thanks,
    Ellicec

    Dear:
Please check if  reversal of the Past Depreciation(posted) is possible through Write-Up ABZU - Miscellaneous is the transaction used for Write-Up of past depreciation.
    Transaction effects will be like
    Accumulated Dep A/C Debit
    Deprecation exp a/c A/C Credit
For more info please check link
    /people/nathan.genez/blog/2008/06/26/reversing-a-depreciation-run-in-asset-accounting
OASV can give credit to Acc dep posted for an asset class but not to a particular asset.

Please help, what can be the problem?

    Hi
It seems that one of the patch has not been applied properly.
You get this error from the package FA_MASSADD_PKG, so you could put some debug to see where you get it exactly or check the patches where patch includes file FAMAPTB.pls.
