Background Color In Classical Report

Hi Experts,
I need to Highlight the entire row in classical report based on condition.
For Example:
I need to show the employee's detail in RED whose salary in less then 10000
and green to those who get more then 10000.
I tried using case and adding column and then editing report attribute's HTML Expression
<xmp>
<span style="color:#THE_COLOR#;font-weight:bold;">#SALARY#</span>
</xmp>
But this highlighting only text not the entire row.
please help me with this.

The best way to do this is by creating a Named Column (row template) template report.
Here is a post of someone with a similar problem:

  • Problem dynamically setting row background color in a report

    Hi guys,
    I want a PPR Classic SQL Report to dynamically show a background color depending on what value is stored in the column of the record.
    To illustrate what I've tried consider the following:
    1. I created a PPR Report on DEPT (this is the report I want to use with record backgrounds)
    2. I created a PPR javascript call that I trigger somewhere in the page
    function refreshReport(pField, pValue){
      var region = $v('P2_DEPT_RID');
      var link ='f?p=' + $v('pFlowId') + ':' + $v('pFlowStepId') + ':' + $v('pInstance') +'::::' + pField +':'+ pValue;
      html_PPR_Report_Page(this, region, link);
    The updating of the report works fine by the way.
    3. I changed the code in the HTML Expression of the column definition of "DNAME" of the DEPT report. I used jQuery to set the class of the <tr> element of the position the field is in.
    This is the value I want to dynamically check on
    <div id="dept_#DEPTNO#">#DNAME#</div>
    <SCRIPT type=text/javascript>
    $('#dept_#DEPTNO#').parent().parent().children().removeClass('t20data');
    if ('#DNAME#' == 'RESEARCH'){
          $(function(){
            $('#dept_#DEPTNO#').parent().parent().addClass('voorhaal_kan');
    }else{
             $(function(){
                $('#dept_#DEPTNO#').parent().parent().addClass('sscc_ok');
    </SCRIPT>4. I created some CSS like so:
    tr.voorhaal_kan{border:1px solid #AAA;border-left:none;border-top:none;background-color:#FFDD44;padding:2px 8px;}
    tr.sscc_ok {border:1px solid #AAA;border-left:none;border-top:none;background-color:#CCFFCC;padding:2px 8px;}
    tr.sscc_manco {border:1px solid #AAA;border-left:none;border-top:none;background-color:#FF3300;padding:2px 8px;}
    tr.sscc_geel {border:1px solid #AAA;border-left:none;border-top:none;background-color:#FFFF66;padding:2px 8px;}Now the problem is, the first time I load the page, the javascript in the HTML Expression works fine! It checks the value, and colors the <tr> beautifully. But, when i Refresh the report using PPR (calling the javascript function), the report is reloaded just fine, but the javascript bit in the HTML Expression is skipped for some reason resulting with a regular background color found in "t20Standard td.t20Data" . Alerts won't fire either in the code, hence the assumption of the code skipping.
    Any ideas on how this problem can be solved?

    Hey Rutger,
    I know you've already done a lot of work in another direction, but would it be possible for your purposes to use the SQL to do what you need. check out this link:

  • Change the background color in a report cell - td bgcolor

    Hi.
    I have a report in which I would like to change the background color of a table cell based on some values in the underlying query
    If Column A > Column B and Column C > 10, I want to color the background green. In my cgi , this was easy, but in apex, even if I write the query to output html, won't everything already be wrapped in the <td></td> tags? Is there any way around this?
    Thanks

    Mike ,
    With the above solution you can conditionally fill the report cell with a particular color and not the entire row set. If you want to highlight entire row, you have to do something different. Take a look at this jQuery function
    Step 1 . Download jquery http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.4.2.min.js
    Step 2. Upload it to apex image folder using shared component.
    Step 3. In the page header put the following code
    <script src="#WORKSPACE_IMAGES#jquery-1.4.js" type="text/javascript" ></script>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    $(document).ready(function(){
         if ($('.apexir_WORKSHEET_DATA').length > 0) {
              function HighLightRows(){
                                       $("table.apexir_WORKSHEET_DATA tbody td:has(COLOR_GRAY)").siblings().addClass('greentd');
                                       $("table.apexir_WORKSHEET_DATA tbody td:has(COLOR_GRAY)").addClass('greentd');
                                       $("table.apexir_WORKSHEET_DATA tbody td:has(COLOR_GREEN)").siblings().addClass('graytd');
                                       $("table.apexir_WORKSHEET_DATA tbody td:has(COLOR_GREEN)").addClass('graytd');
         // This time out is required since after the report is refreshed via AJAX,
                                  setTimeout(function(){HighLightRows();},1000);
         }//if
    HighLightRows();
    </script>
    <style type="text/css">
    .apexir_WORKSHEET_DATA td.greentd
    background-color: green !important;
    .apexir_WORKSHEET_DATA td.graytd
    background-color: gray !important;
    </style>
    Step 4. Change the SQL Query to
    SELECT
         SALE_DATE
         ,PRODUCT_NAME
         ,PRODUCT_ID
         , CASE WHEN SALE_DATE > ADD_MONTHS(SYSDATE,-2) THEN
                     '<COLOR_GREEN>&#38;nbsp;</COLOR_GREEN>'
              ELSE
                      '<COLOR_GRAY>&#38;nbsp;</COLOR_GRAY>'
         PRODUCT_NAME_COLOR
    FROM SALES;
    Step 5. Make this new column PRODUCT_NAME_COLOR visible and in the column heading u can just put &#38;nbsp;.
    As long as this column will be available for display you will see the conditional highlighting.Thanks,
    Manish

  • How to color single column cells with different colors in classic report based different conditions

    Hi ,

  • Report text background color

    I have added report text to my post-expression to display voltage test results.  I want to be able to change the background color of the report text frame so that only failures stand out in the report.  It currently defaults to magenta.  Here is an example of the expression I currently am using.

    Hi,
    I'm working an example in APEX 4.2 so YMMV (your milage may vary!).
    For Classic Reports, where the Column Attributes "Display As" is set to Display as Text (escape special characters ...:
    1) I find that Column width and Element Width setting have no effect to make the column smaller or larger.
    2) Here is one way that works:
    - In the Region's Region Definition, under Attributes give the Static ID a name (no spaces), say, class-report.
    - In the columns you want to affect, place "&#60;div>#ENAME#</div&#62;" in the columns Column Formatting "HTML Expression". Where "ENAME" here is the actual column name.
    I'm using the EMP table as an example.
    - Finally, in the page's HTML Header put, for example
    <style>
    #classic-report td.data[headers="ENAME"] div {
      width: 200px;
      color: blue;
    #classic-report td.data[headers="JOB"] div {
      width: 50px;
      white-space: nowrap;
      word-wrap: break-word;
    </style>This makes the ENAME column wider and the JOB column smaller and wraps it.
    Much more could be said. If you tweak you will find you can also affect spacing above, below and right/left of the data.
    #classic-report .report-standard th.header {
      border-left: #9fa0a0 1px solid;
      padding: 2px 3px 4px 5px;   /* top right bottom left margins */
      font-size: 11px;
      font-weight: bold;
      vertical-align: bottom;
    #classic-report .report-standard td.data {
      border-left: #9fa0a0 1px solid;
      padding: 3px 4px 5px 6px;
      font-size: 9px;
    }Does this help?

    Rik,
    So you are asking to color every row of the region?
    Have you tried making a copy of the Standard, Alternating Row Colors template and working it that way?

  • Export to Excel Issue - Background Colors

    Hi,
    I have upgraded report server from 2005 to 2008R2. I have an issue where in my code 2 separate reports are output into Excel. When this happens the background color is a random bright color such as green and yellow.
    I tried creating a new report in the same solution but I get the same issue. I also tried setting colors in report to just black & white but no change.
    I found
    this KB but does not help in my situation as no manual copy/paste.
    Any ideas? Thanks!

  • Can we change the background color of a Standard report "column"?

    4.2.1
    Theme 24 - Cloudy
    Hi There,
    I searched this forum and online but did not get a straight forward way to change the color of a standard classic Apex report column. I want the whole columns background color to be blue. I tried some of the suggestions for using span etc, but they did not work.
    Was wondering if anyone has a solution for this? would be very helpful!
    Thanks,
    Ryan

    Use a custom named column report template with <tt>&lt;colgroup&gt;/&lt;col&gt;</tt> and CSS as in these threads.
    Could also be done with JavaScript, but if the entire column is to be coloured (rather than individual cells based on some condition), the template approach will be simpler and have better performance

  • Dynamically Set Subreport Background Color to the Same Value as Main Report Background Color

    I have a report that contains a subreport.  The main report has groupings in it.  I am dynamically setting the background color of the group rows based on an expression.  That part is working fine.  The problem that I am having is that
    I don't know how to get the subreport to "inherit" the background color of the grouping that holds it.
    Basically, I have different row shadings on my report differentiating the groupings except for the rows where the subreport shows.
    How do I go about setting the subreport background color to equal it's contaiing grouping's background color?  Thanks in advance for any and all assistance provided.

    The parameter method given by gpshukla will send the info to the subreport, but you don't need the color parameter in the main report, only the subreport. The trick is in setting the value of that parameter.
    Right-click the cell with the embedded subreport, you can select subreport properties.
    Select Parameters and add a parameter.
    The name column is the name of the parameter in the subreport (color) and value is the value to set it to.
    Set name to "color" (no quotes).
    Set Value to the same expression used to set the background color for the row.
    In the subreport, click the design surface to select the report (not header or footer).
    In the properties pane, select background color and choose expression from the dropdown.
    Type =Parameters!color.Value into the expression builder.
    This will work assuming that background color in the main report row will not change without also refreshing the subreport.

    Regards,

    Hi Pankaj,
    It is a strange behavior. You also stated that when you create a test report it works fine.
    Can you create a copy of this report and then try on the new copy?
    One thing you can do as a test to refresh the universe and then try it. And change some columns - add some column and then save and ten remove and save and make changes like this and trying changing color.
    I think there is a problem with this report this is why it is behaving like this on all machine.

  • How to set the Background Color of a Text Field in a Tabular Report.

    Hello,
    I tried to set the Background Color of a Text Field in a Tabular Report.
    But I was not able to change this colur.
    In the report attributes --> column attributes
    I tried already:
    1. Column Formating -- >CSS Style (bgcolor: red)
    2. Tabular Form Element --> Element Attributes (bgcolor: red)
    but nothing worked.
    Can anybody help me?
    I Use Oracle Apex 2.2.1 on 10gR2
    thank you in advance.
    Oliver

    in "Report Attributes" select the column to move to the "Column Attributes" page. In the "Element Attributes" field under the "Tabular Form Element" region enter
    style="background-color:red;"
    I will also check if there is a way to do this via the template and post here again
    edit:
    in your template definition, above the template, enter the following:
    < STYLE TYPE="text/css" >
    .class INPUT {background-color:red;}
    < /STYLE >
    (remove the spaces after the < and before the >)
    change "class" to the class that the template is calling
    (I'm using theme 9, the table has: class="t9GCCReportsStyle1" so I would enter t9GCCReportsStyle1)
    A side-effect of using this second version is that ALL input types will have a red background color--checkboxes, input boxes, etc.

    I am using Labview 6.1 to generate a report.  In that report there is a table created using the Append Numeric Table to Report VI.  I want to be able to programmatically control the background color of each cell in the table.  Also, how can I programmatically control the background color of the row and header cells of the same table.  I am also generating a second table in the same report using the Append Text Table to Report VI and I would like to programmatically control the background colors of the cells in that table as well.  Thanks.

    Hi epsilon-d...,
    i´m not sure if there is an ready to use function to do what you want, but you can enlarge the available function. Open the "Append Numeric Table to Report.vi" and go to the HTML Case. There you can see another vi which creates the html table. In the VI "HTML Report Table Row" you can add the option: bgcolor="your color" inside of the "TR" tag.
    Hope it helps.
