Background image tab control

i use labview 8.20
is it possible to add a background image to a tab control ?
i only see, that i can change the color. or change the background image from the complete background.
but i dont't want to make my tab control transparent, because then i can't see the registers (tabs with the text) of the tab control.
is there a solution ?

I do not believe that you can do it directly. You could add a picture control to each tab and place it behind the controls and indactors to achieve the same effect.

• Background image blocks control

I have a numeric control placed over a background image. Initially it worked fine. But after I reorganize the program, I found that the image blocked the control. If the control is in the border of the image, I can not change it. If the control is out of the image range, I can change it. How do I fix this? LabVIEW 8.6

Solved!
Go to Solution.

Sounds like you just need to reorder things. Select the control, and then select Move to Front.
Alternatively, you could select the background image and select Move to Back.

• How do you change a background image in an HBox control via actionscript?

Hi All,
I would like to change the background image of a HBox control
when the user clicks on a tab (tabnavigator control). I call a
function on the 'activate' method of a VBox control, within the
TabNavigator. So for each of the tabs when a tab is selected an
appropreate image is displayed in another part of the screen.
Thanks for any insights/help
regards

Binding a string variable and using the show() event instead
of the activate event will work. See Below
<mx:Script>

[Bindable]
private var mystring:String = new String();
private function dispAssocIMG(f3rd:String):void {
mystring = f3rd;

</mx:Script>
<mx:HBox backgroundImage="{mystring}" id="first3rd"
width="567" height="336" y="209"></mx:HBox>
<mx:HBox id="mid3rd" width="457" height="336" y="209"
x="567" backgroundColor="#956944">

<mx:TabNavigator height="336" width="457" >
<mx:VBox label="about me"
show="dispAssocIMG('image1.jpg')"></VBox>
<mx:VBox label="test2"

• How do I change the background image for a single tab on the navigation bar

I'm creating a movie website for TDKR and for the navigation bar, I intend to have a different character for each tab. However, I'm having trouble putting a single image each separate tab. Instead one image appears on each of the tabs. Here's an example of the source and CSS.

Home

Cast

Pictures

Music

Interviews

Links

#navigation {
list-style-type: none;
padding: 0px;
margin: 0px;
#navigation li {
margin: 0px;
padding: 0px;
list-style-type: none
#navigation li a:link, #navigation li a:visited {
display: block;

text-align: center;
line-height: 100px;
font-family: "Trebuchet MS", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
font-weight: bold;

-o-transition: 1000ms ease;
transition: 1000ms ease;
color: #648AAE;
background-repeat: no-repeat;
background-image: url(../Images/gifs/Batman-still-2.gif);
background-position: center bottom;
text-transform: uppercase;
letter-spacing: 0.79em;
border-radius: 5px;
#navigation li a:focus, #navigation li a:hover, #navigation li a:active {
color: #000000;
background-image: url(../Images/gifs/Batman-animation-2.gif);
background-repeat: no-repeat;
background-position: center bottom;
background-color: #454545;
border-radius: 25px;
So, how do I put a single image on each tab (home, cast, pictures, etc). Thank you for your help in advance.

Assign a class to the item and use CSS to apply an image as in

Home

Cast

Pictures

Music

Interviews

Links

and the CSS
#navigation li a:link.home, #navigation li a:visited.home {
background-image: url(../Images/gifs/Batman-still-2.gif);

• The firefox theme(Lava V1-purple) I installed does not show permanently its background image because it quickly disappears when I click a new tab.. how can i fix this???

When i click a new tab button the background image appears but quickly disappears... I know that this shouldn't happen but it always happen no matter what i try... Can anyone help me??? Please??? I want my background, that is provided by the theme, to stay pemanently when i click the new tab button because the white background for a new tab is totally not my style..

• FF36: Sites with background image flickers/flashes when going back to tab after 2 minutes.

Figure I'll mention this here as well.
When viewing websites with background images, such as twitter.com or my own website at www.markheadrick.com and I change to another tab for 2 minutes (this amount of time is repeatable anyway) I get a flicker of a black background before the page is fully drawn. If I have multiple tabs with the same background image, only the first tab will show the flicker. It's like it's loosing the image in memory or something. It has done this with Firefox in Safe Mode and with a new, clean profile. It has also done this with Hardware Acceleration off.
Windows 7 Pro 64bit w/ NVidia 550ti and 314.22 drivers. Newer drivers are more problematic which is why I have stayed with these.
Again, only pages with background images seem to show this flicker. Did not happen with Firefox 35 on my system.
I created a bug for it here: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1137082
Thanks,

I have a system style tab control. I realized the when the program runs in exe mode, the background color of my label on the tab control doesn't match the backgound color of the tab control. The background color of the tab control is different between exe mode and development mode. Anyone help? How do I match the color? Thanks!

• Background-image of a Design Studio 1.3 extension is not displayed when the control is dragged on the canvas

Hello,
I have a Design Studio Extension with a background image which behave well in Design Studio 1.2.
In Design Studio 1.3 when I drag the control into the canvas the image does not show-up. If I execute the application the image appear in the browser even is not in the canvas.Once I save and reopen the application the image is displayed on the canvas as expected.
I built an extension based on the 'Timer' sample which comes with the DS_13_SDK_Samples ( it has a background image) and it behaves the same way - when you drag the control on the canvas, the image is not displayed.
Any help to solve this issue is much appreciated.
Thank you.

It does start to work once I save and reopen or even when I run.
I tried the inline style but the behavior is much stranger. It does work if I have a full address url to an image, but if my image is part of the control's folder structure it fails completely - it cannot map the right address to the image. The only configuration that appears to work better is the one with the original problem.
Thank you.

Assuming these are the images you're trying to display:
.TabbedPanelsTabHover {
background-image: url(../../SUPEROLDU/images/menubaractive.png);
background-repeat: repeat-x;
color: #FFF;

background-repeat: repeat-x;
color: #FFF;
height: 30px;
width: 116px;
You have 2 root paths in your URL code. I think this is how your file structure looks like on your local computer. However, on a remote server, ../ by itself means you're pointing to the root folder of your website. Your URL linkage should be corrected based on the relativity and your background will work without a problem.

• Vertical tabbed panel with background image

Hi all,
I have a working vertical tabbed panel. For the text that's shown, there's a background image assigned to the associated DIV.
However...
The background image that's shown is clipped to the bottom of the text.
In other words, if I have 3 lines of text, the bottom of the background image only goes as far down as the bottom line of text. In order to show the entire image, I have to put in a lot of </ br> tags for "empty" text, not a very good approach.
More of the backgound will show if I increase the text text size via the browser.
To try to describe this more accurately,
Let's say I have a background image that's 600 px in height, but the lines of text only measure to 400px. That means that the bottom 200 px of the image doesn't show, unless I add more lines of text.
Hoping someone has an answer!
Thanks,
Jerry

Gramps,
Again, thanks for your time. While we're now full time commercial photographers (http://www.jerryandlois.com), I was a software engineer for some 20+ years in an earlier life, all on the application side of things. Not really any appreciable time with website stuff.
There are a few more tech/how-to questions I have that are specific to CSS, in terms of polishing up the small site I'm working on. However these are not SPRY related, unless SPRY can solve this for me.
In particular, suppose I have a large block with a background image and a body of text. I want to ensure the text wraps around the image, rather than being a complete overlay where the text can collide with the main body of the photo.
Example:
http://jerryandloisstudios.com/about.html
The issue is that the text is resizable, by design of course. Is there any way to manage these two elements (text and image) so they get along the right way? We want the text to overlay some of the image, but only on the periphery, if that makes sense. So far, the only solution I've seen is to keep the text formatted roughly in a column so that if its size increases all will still be OK. But... artistically that just doesn't look right.
If you're up for it, I'd certainly welcome a private email thread, unless others can also benefit from the rather newbie questions I'm raising: [email protected]
Again, thank you for your help!!!
Jerry

• Export image EMF from tab control, help!!

Hello,
I am trying to get a good resolution report. I got use export image to EMF file so the graphs look very good resolution. When I appended the image control like png it looked poor quality. Now is ok, now I export image of graphs to emf and then use 'append image to report' using the path of file emf.
But I have a problem in this case. I am trying to get EMF file from Tab control. I have 8 graphs inside of each page of tab control. I would like to get each page exporting to EMF file and later append the image to report from path of file. The problem is I cant export to emf. I tried the solution in this treads.
http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/send-control-image-programmatically-to-clipboard/td-p/180921/page/2
But it uses get image and it is bmp, so no good solution.
I attached pdf file. IT shows the tab control with append control to report (it is like capture in png file) and one graph append control to report png and emf file of another graph and use the path to input in word report. You can see the diference.
I would like to know if i could export the tab control to emf or any onther vectorial image and later use the path. SInce it will take several pages and i will need sometimes 300-400 graphs...
Any idea would be great.
Best Regards.

Hi Mike,
Thanks for your reply!.
Well, it was only one example. Check the attached file. It works ok. I split in dataset of 8sec and save the emf files.
The problem is the report. If I enable it doestnt works fine, since you will be the both parts working in the same time.
That's why the sequence structure would be ok, one time all the graphs are saved then I could append to report.
I have another question. I used transparent graph and it works ok. I remove all the scales Y values or labels and customized the graph adding one horinzontal line for X scale (like capture), but in the file emf saved didnt appear. Do you know why?.
Best Regards, Fred.

• How can I get a parallax effect with Hub Control or change the background image scroll rate?

Like the title says, I'm trying to get more of a parallax effect with a Hub Control in Windows Phone. In my current hub app, the picture has to be as wide as the entire hub, and it scrolls through the picture quickly. I'd like a way to make the background
image scroll slower than the content on top of is.
I've looked everywhere in the API docs, but I can't find anything saying how to do this. :(

Hi PTK7,
Yes, currently there is no documentation for this effect, however we can manually control the image scroll speed:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/10589192/windows-8-gridview-parallax-background-image
Also I found a sample from code center:
https://code.msdn.microsoft.com/windowsapps/ParallaxBackground-A-Metro-f929e558, take a look to see if these helps.

• Can I control the position of the page background image?

Hi All!
My simple question: Can I control the position of the background image for example in a user-made style? I mean can I make the position of the image to center rather then tile? If it possible without editing the html code...

To create a background image for a region create a table nested within that region using the following definition
and create an image call integrated into the
tag within said table.

• Is there a way to control how a background images appear on all browsers?

I have created a site that includes a fixed background image so that the only thing that scrolls is the main container that holds all the content. But I don't want it tiled. I want this one image to fill the entire screen behind the container. Is this possible to control from my end (by settings or by sizing the image in a certain way) or is this something that I can't control at all?

This http://www.onextrapixel.com/2012/03/02/using-css-background-size-responsively/ may help
