Backup Database using MSSQL Studio with Retention Period

Hi Experts,
I Want to run backup every first Monday of the month and only keep 2 copies, which means after third month successful backup first month should be deleted.
I know how to schedule the backup for first monday of every month.
My only query is how do we set retention period and how do we define fine name.

Based on my understanding, you already know how to schedule the backup job for first Monday of every month. Now you want to set retention period of copies and make sure there are always two copies exist. And you also want to know how to define backup filename
better.
About how to set retention period of copies, you can follow these steps:
1. Open SQL Server Management Studio and expand Maintenance Plans under Management.
2. Right click the plan you have scheduled and choose Maintenance Plans Wizard.
3. Set step by step according to tips.
4. On Select Maintenance Tasks page, you should check Maintenance Cleanup Task.
5. On Define Maintenance Cleanup Task page, you should check Backup files under Delete files of the following type. And check Search folder and delete files based on an extension box under File location, then select the backup folder. Under File age, please
check Delete files based on an extension and set 2 Month(s) under Delete files than the following.
Based on my test, when I use maintenance plan to perform backup for DB, the backup filename is DB_backup_2014_08_27_142154_5382644.bak.

Using Deploy Studio with 10.7.4

Hi,
I have been trying to use deploy studio with 10.7.4 on Macbook Pro and it never seems to be working. It can see the network and get to the spinning earth but nothing past there. Is any one else having trouble with this? Is there some checked box or something that you think might be holding up the process? Any thoughts are appreciated.

Backup database using RMAN

Hi,
I wanted to perform the first backup with RMAN and I used this command and I got error:
RMAN> BACKUP AS COPY DATABASE;
"can not backup or copy active file in noarchivelog mode".
But in order to turn on the log_mode to ARCHIVELOG, first I need to do shutdown the db and perform the backup. Right?
So how can I get my first backup using RMAN if the log mode is in NOARCHIVELOG mode?
I also performed this command successfully...
RMAN> configure controlfile autobackup on;
new RMAN configuration parameter are successfully stored...
but I'm not sure the controlfiles are being backed up. How can I verify this and where I can find the controlfile backup file?

So how can I get my first backup using RMAN if the log mode is in NOARCHIVELOG mode?You can do RMAN backups with DB in NOARCHIVELOG mode, but the DB must be MOUNTED and not OPEN. You can do something like the following :
$ $ORACLE_HOME/bin/rman nocatalog

I am connected to the database server from the server
where I have tape, but Rman is searching tape on
database server.I am not sure I understabd the above statement, but at the Operating System Level, you must ensure that from the Server you are running RMAN, it is configured to see the Tape Drive of the other Server. Once the Remote Tape is mounted with any name (say sbt) on the Local Server (however it is done with), then RMAN can configure the channels to use it.
If you cannot get this access at the Operating System Level, then do not bother trying RMAN to access it.

Commands for backups are outside of the database.

Using Measurement studio with Tabs

Whenever I place a measurement studio control on top of a tab control it goes underneth the tab control and can no longer be seen. In the code I can tell it to come to the top using 'BringWindowToTop" and it is visable but while in the editor it is not, making it hard to place controls properly. Is there a way to force the control to the top in the editor and if so how?

The way controls on a form are displayed is determined by their z-order. The control's z-order is determined by its position in the form's Controls collection, with the first control in the collection being at the front (top layer) and the last at the back. You will need to change control's z-order in order to make things look right.
There are a few options to fix this at design time:
Right-click on the Measurement Studio Control and select Bring to Front. This will change it's position in the form's Controls collection to 0, making it the top of z-order. Similarly, you could right-click on the Tab control and choose Send to Back.
Select the Measurement Studio Control and click Format » Order » Bring to Front from Visual Studio's menu. There are also two icons on the Layout toolbar that will allow you to either "Send to Front" or "Send to Back".
Additionally, Visual Studio 2005 also includes a very useful tool window called Document Outline. You can access this from View » Other Windows » Document Outline, or by using the keyboard shortcut: Ctrl+Alt+T. The Document Outline will allow you to rearrange controls by simply draging and droping them into their correct z-order

Backup database using MobileMe?

I want to backup all my photos. I subscribe to MobileMe and have room on my iDisk. But I can't figure out how to do this.
I can see the database in my pictures folder, but what utility would I use to do the actual backup?

Drag and drop it to the iDisk. But it will be very slow.

It sounds like your question is really if you can access the parallel port from your Measurement Studio Environment. The answer is yes, and one way to do this is using NI-VISA. In general, I imagine you will be performing viOpen, viRead, and viClose operations on your parallel port. Thanks for your answer, I was trying to embed a NIDaq application in a webpage, so I was exploring all the options, I found thooses:
-Develop an XBAP application (does not seem to be compatible with more than IE and Firefox(with some actions) under Windows, plus I haven't found the way of making it work with NIDaq)
-Develop an ASP.NET application (maybe it is because I don't have much knowledge of it, but it does not seem to fit my needs as I am activating DAQ Digital Output when mouseenter and mouseleave on a led events are fired(which I manage on client side with javascript), and asp.net refresh the whole page each time, I would need it to refresh the control only).
Do you have any suggestions on how to make a measurement studio daq application embeded in a webpage to control an NIUSB6501 board connected to the server?

Error while defining USB dribe as backup device in MSSQL

Hi all, i am facing this error when i am creating a new backup device in MSSQL and while watching media contents.
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlError: Cannot open backup device 'SAPMSQLDB(E:\SAPBackup\SAPMSQLDB.bak)'. Operating system error 2(The system cannot find the file specified.). (Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo)
and i am getting this error in DB13

when you are creating a new device what should be the file name ???? i specified a file name but its not in the folder i think this might be the cause but i dont know what is the name of file or do i need to prepare the folder i mean to create some temporary files?

Well i executed Full database backup

1. The output is only one file or more files as i have only one file called filename.bak aftre backup from SAP?

i've backuped database using RMAN,
now datafile of system tablespace have lost,
and i execute the command as following:

I'm looking for code to measure SNR, SNDR, etc. using Measurement Studio, Visual Basic.

I've collected audio ADC data and wish to measure signal-to-noise, frequency, amplitude, etc. I'm using Measurement Studio with VB.

Frequency and Amplitude should be easy to measure. The CWDSP frequency domain processing methods perform transformations between the time domain and frequency domain and perform analysis in the frequency domain. Slightly more difficult is the measurement of SNR. I would recommend the following tutorial:
"The Fundamentals of FFT-Based Signal Analysis and Measurement in LabVIEW and LabWindows" available here. This page also links to a LabVIEW example, which can be used to understand the dataflow and functions necessary to create the system.
There is also a good signal to noise ratio tutorial here.
