Backup SMS

I have plenty of SMS in my iphone and I would like to download them to my pc just in case I loose the phone. Is there any way to do it?
Thank you so much

but would you know where are they stored?
This document will tell you everything you need to know about the iPhone backup, including where the backup is stored on your computer:
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766
if there is any way to wiew and print them?
Not directly from the iPhone backup, you'd need software to first extract them. Much easier to use third-party software to copy from your phone & then print them. Here's one example that will do the trick:

  • Backup sms contact and call history to pc

    Hello ,
I got the nokia 920 based on the camera hype at the time of it’s first unveiling. To my surprised it turned out my old Galaxy S2 took better pictures in my opinion.
Here is my question, I am trying to backup my entire phone (has to be sent in for repairs led light died) and **bleep** to my surprised the most common and convenient way for me to backup my previous phones, which is to plug it into your pc and backup “everything” is not listed.
With the pc option on the phon app it only allows me to save my photos, vids and music. I cannot comprehend why Nokia/MS did not add the option to save/backup sms, contacts, app settings and phone call history option to your pc. At some point and time MS/Nokia had to make a decision of phone users to backup your most personal information using their cloud, all the while forfeiting you from having the option of saving it to your “personal computer”. Let me think…hm it cost a lot of money to buy and maintain the cloud servers they use, and as far as I can tell you don’t pay a single cent, unless you want more cloud data ….ask yourself what’s in it for the perverted F**Ks. I think most of us won’t allow a stranger to just walk right up into your house and begin to observe your eating habits, tv shows you watch etc. Don’t tell me either that only you can access your info…it’s simply **bleep**.
Why am I being forced to use the “cloud” why would I want my personal info on someone else’s machine. I do not own the server and do not have admin rights. If they had advertised you could not conduct a simple backup of everything via pc, I would never have gotten this phone. I like the ability to choose/have a choice especially after paying $600 for a phone, just to have MS/Nokia to make the decision for me.
I can understand why some people would want to use the cloud, but not everyone should be forced to use it.
How do I back up contacts, call history, sms messages to my pc without being fingered in the cloud, against my will.
    Thank you for your time

it is a wp8 device, so go into your settings/backup
and choose to have all that backed up to your ms account you have on the device.
this will back up your sms/phone log info and your contacts (so long as you are saving your contacts to your live account)
if your contacts are synced to another account, like google/etc. then that should be synced as well.
when you log into your new wp8 device, and start to set it up, use the same MS account you currently do and it should automatically connect and restore your sms/contacts (provided you use the MS account)
as for the applications...you can go to windowsphone.com and click on reinstall next to the apps you want to reinstall in your "my account"
if those applications do not save a file to the skydrive or their own server, then i cannot say how that data would be backed up.

  • How do I backup sms's on the P1i?

Please advise the best way to back up sms's on the P1i. My box is overloaded but I am too scared to delete as I do not know how to backup.

There is no method from us to backup SMS on this device.
Consider this reply a bump, and maybe other users can chime in with other software suggestions.

  • Anyone know of a way to backup SMS messages for FREE on a Mac?

Anyone know of a good program to extract SMS messages from the iphone, or the backup file located in /Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup on a mac? Something that is able to put it into a .txt file or anything that is legible?
And most importantly, that is firmware 3.0 friendly, works on an iphone 3GS (obviously but just incase) and is free? I saw some online but you have to pay for them and some aren't even iPhone OS 3.0 compatible. Only 2.0
Or does anyone know of a way to do this yourself by navigating the files in the backup folder?
Lastly... anyone know of a way to put old SMS's back on an iPhone if you decide to do a new restore instead of one from a backup? Many thanks!

Thanks neuroanatomist. That was really helpful, but when I went in and looked in my SMS folder, I opened it under notepad and it was all garbled and hard to read. It didn't look like in my iphone of indicating conversations between me and another person. I could see my conversations, but they where all mixed in with numbers and weird characters I've never seen before. You wouldn't happen to know of another program out there that can put it perhaps like in a word doc. or even excel sheet? Something that's just organized. Thanks.
Anyone else care to help me out with some mac community friendly advice? Thanks!

  • Backup SMS texts from Blackberry to PC?

    Hi there,
Is there a way I can backup or transfer my SMS text messages from my Blackberry Pearl to my PC?
I have a large number of texts, and there are important ones that I want to save to PC - that will save the timestamp as well as the text itself.
I have done a search and could only find software to send SMS from my PC, but no mention of whethe rI can import SMS from BB to PC.
    Any ideas?
    Many thanks in advance!

Please see my post today 11/21 called "SIM card full, can't download all SMS messages" for a similiar problem and a partial solution in that I can get the most recent 8 messages but not the older ones.
Using the BB Desktop Manager from RIM, Version 5.0.1.18 dated Agust 09, the "Backup and Restore" function will backup these into an IPD data base format.  To read this, I downloaded and installed a 30 day free usage product called ABC Amber BB Converter.  It is a crippled app but will show you the messages.
Hopefully someone else will respond to either your or my request for help in downloading all the SMS messages.

    Dear
Welcome to the forum and thanks for your recent post.
You can backup your data and content but not for the program itself. Re-install the application and then restore the data/content.
It should be noted that some applications require a lincence and have trial period that must have been expired.
    Please contact your local careline.
You'll need your IMEI number product code and they will set your license with you.
Both items can be obtain by typing (*#06#) from your device home screen.
Do let us know if you require  further assistance.
    Sincerely
    Carl

  • [ N73 ] Cannot backup SMS from NBU file

    Dear all.
I have a N73 phone. yesterday, I want to up my firmware's phone. So I backup my data ( contact, messages, calendar,.. ) to a NBU file ( I use Content Copier in Nokia PC Suite ).
After that, I restore data from NBU file. But, only contact is backup, and SMS cannot be backup.( I use ABC amber NBU converter to view NBU file, i still view my SMSs ).
Who know what happend? And what will I do to restore my SMSs?
    Thanks a lots!

Since you save your SMS in the memory card, the utility will not backup the messages. It copies whatever is stored in your phone memory alone. After firmware update, your message application would have been configured to store messages in your phone memory (the default setting). Try changing the memory in use to your Memory card (Messaging -> Options -> Settings -> Other  -> Memory in use -> Phone Memory), and you should be able to view the messages that had earlier been stored there.
Had you selected the option to backup your mass storage also when running the Content Copier utility, you would've been able to backup the SMS stored in your memory card as well in the NBU file. But the file would be quite large, for obvious reasons.
I doubt if the other options given in this thread will work for you.
    Let us know what happens

  • Is there a way to backup SMS/imessage for complete restore?

I think there is a glitch on my phone somewhere, and i think that it might be in my phone backup so restoring from an earlier backup is not an option. What i want to do is to take the SMS/Imessage and whatsapp messages off of my phone and restore as a new phone. I have backed up my photos and videos to Dropbox and was wondering if i could do the same thing with my messages to later restore them on my phone?
    Thanks in advance

Do you have enough room on your internal drive to keep all your iTunes files?  Is that more or less how you are doing it now except for this cumbersome adding files one place then another?  If you do then you need to consolidate all your files onto the internal drive and periodically back up the entire iTunes folder to the external drive.
As for backup, Time Machine is one possibility.  I don't use it because it won't run on my computer.  I use CarbonCopyCloner.

  • Itunes didn't backup sms + imessages

    Hello all,
after upgrading to ios 6, all sms + imessages were gone.
I tried to restore from itunes (didn't do icloud backup only itunes backup) but there was not enough space on the iphone.
After removing all music, restore was OK and iphone return to status before ios upgrade but with ios 6. BUT...
    sms + imessages weren't restored -
    WHY?
Not to mention I had to add my music again....
    thanks all,
    Amir.

iTunes does not back up voicemails.
Those are tied to the SIM card.
You can play the voicemail back on your old phone, and record it using the voice memo app on your new phone.

Install Nokia PCSuite, it syncs with Outlook and your E61.

  • Best solution to backup SMS?

I'm planning on transferring a long stream of messages from my iPhone 4 to my new 4S, but having looked around, there is no clear, adequate solution to do so. Any tips would be great!

Sure, you can use your iCloud backup, read here for what's in that backup:

What carrier you use does not matter.

  • How can I backup SMS on my computer ?

All is in the title : is there a way to save my SMS data on my computer ? An app that would locate the sms database and copy its content ? And after that delete some of it on my FFOS phone to save space ?

As I had already done this for another topic, I thought this information was recorded in my profile! Sorry for that.
    System Details
    FFOS_FR_ZTE_OPENCV1.0.0B03
    Device: ZTE Open C
And I found in "more information" that FFOS_FR_ZTE_OPENCV1.0.0B03 means FFOS 1.3.0.0 !

I didn't do much. On the SMS interface there is nothing that offers to save a conversation. And I don't find any app that would offer to browse into the cellphone's files.
