Base speed for fun;lower and upper threshold for macbook pro 13" mid.2010

i have install fun control, and i have modifiated impostation for base speed (fun) lower and uppeer threshold,
what is the parameter impostated by apple?
thanks
Francesco from Verona

Fan base speed is 2,000 RPM and increases upon load.
122-158º F is normal
You have a 13" MacBook Pro, it doesn't also have a dedicated video card (like the 15" and 17" do), only CPU graphics, thus the heat is double in the same location.
This is normal for all CPU graphics machines, Intel or AMD processors. Mac or PC.
Don't use the 13" for intense graphics uses or in hot environments.

If you have records that show that you've taken your MacBook Pro in for a year to fix the machine, I would escalate the problem to Apple Customer Relations - unfortunately I don't have a number for Spain.
It would only seem logical to me that if you've been trying to have the machine repaired during the time that the 'recall' was in effect that you should be eligible for a new logic board. But only customer relations will be able to make that call.
Good luck - take the issue as high up the food chain as you can and see what happens.

  • Maximum hard drive physical size for MacBook Pro 13" mid-2010 model

I'm planning to replace the hard drive in a MacBook Pro 13" mid-2010 - its the latest model just purchased.
I've searched the discussions on replacing the hard drive, and I've seen conflicting information on whether the 13.3" Macbook Pro will accept the 12.5mm height drives, or only the 9.5mm height drives.
And Apple support is no help - they don't know.
Can someone confirm exactly, whether the 12.5 mm drives will fit or not?

Thanks everyone - it looks like you've answered my question, and I'll mark it as such.
I think that my confusion is related to the mac terminology that you guys are using that I am not familiar with yet - I'm brand new to the world of Apple and Macs, so I've got a lot to learn ahead of me.
"S.U.", you said "The 12.5 mm drives will fit in all unibody MBP's". What is a "unibody" MacBook Pro? The one I have is the aluminum shell, not the older black or white case that appears to be some sort of plastic.
In another thread, you mentioned that you have 2 drives in your MacBook Pro. Is there really room for more than a single drive inside, or did you have to remove the optical drive and put the second drive in its place?
"eww", you mentioned "And it doesn't affect the computer's warranty". When I talked with Apple support about replacing the drive, they said that there are no user-serviceable parts in a MacBook Pro, and it might void my warranty to replace the hard drive. I pointed out that they have several documents at the "Manuals" section of their website, explaining the exact steps to replace the hard drive (as well as memory and battery too), with no mention of voiding the warranty.
Is Apple support always so out of touch with their own web site and their own equipment/policies, or are they usually quite knowledgeable and helpful? I'd like to think that I can count on them when I have questions harder than "where's the ON button". But to their credit, they did mention that I visit these forums to see if anyone here could help.
"OrangeMarlin", you mentioned cloning the old drive first, and I plan to do that. The MacBook Pro is brand new, and has not been used yet, so there is no user data to be lost yet, but it would still be easier to clone the drive than try to install from scratch and hope that everything gets installed the same way as the factory drive came packed with.
While on the topic of cloning the drive and backups, I have plenty of external drives to do backups onto, but how do I go about doing backups/cloning? I've heard of "time machine", but it looks like I need a whole dedicated hardware system of some sort in order to use it? Or can I use it with any external hard drives? Or is there a better/preferable backup tool to use, and does it come with the mac, or must I get it separately?

  • Which battery to order for Macbook pro 13" mid 2010

I have a macbook pro 13" mid 2010. I need to know which battery to order from online store to replace my old one. It is very confusing as there is many models of batteries to chose from the online store.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
The batteries available in the Apple Online Store are for Late 2008 and older MacBooks Pro, which include removable batteries.
In your case, your MacBook has got an integrated battery which is not designed to replace yourself, so you should take the MacBook to an Apple Retail Store and get your battery replaced for $129.
If you want to replace it yourself, these are the steps > http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/MacBook+Pro+13-Inch+Unibody+Mid+2010+Battery+Replace ment/4300/1 You can also get the battery for your MacBook in that website

  • I have a MacBook Pro 15" mid 2010.  My battery has 326 cycles.  It is not lasting more than 1 hr and a few minutes before needing a charge.  How many cycles should it have?

I have a MacBook Pro 15" mid 2010 that was purchased in summer of 2010.  My battery has used 326 cyles.  Is this normal for these batteries after two years?  How many cycles should I expect to get out of it before getting a new one?  Also, it only last about 1 hour plus about 30 minutes before needing to be charged again.

The battery is considered a 'consumable' item by Apple - I know that newer models (not sure about 2010's) are supposed to 'last' to about 1,000 cycle counts. But it all depends on how you've used (or abused) your battery as to how long it's going to last. I've 182 cycles on my 8 month old MBP and my battery 'health' is at 98%: I can still get a good 6 1/2 hours out of it...
...if you want more battery time, you're just going to have to buy a new battery or, if you purchased AppleCare, see if Apple will replace it gratis. I doubt that they will, though...

  • Printing from MacBook Pro 17" Mid 2010 running 10.8.2 ... persistent inability for Apple MacBook Pro to print to a variety of HP printers (have run Windows and Ubuntu on Parallels and same printers work) ... what is going on with Apple printer support?

What is wrong with Apple's support of printers ... inability for MacBook Pros to connect with HP and other printers. Yet the same printers
work under Mac OS based Parallels (running Windows or Ubuntu) - WHY?  Finger pointing (HP . Apple ... Apple > HP) ... who cares ... FIX IT ... this has gone on for months now. WHAT IS THE PROBLEM?

HP discontinued support (read: stopped updating their OS X printer drivers) for a lot of their printers back when Apple released Snow Leopard and dropped even more when Lion was released.  This is an HP problem, not an Apple problem.
Exacty what  printers are you having problems with?
If any of your printers are on the HPIJS list, try installing the HPIJS drivers (there are 3 files to install, and it won't hurt anything).   This solved the issue for me on Snow Leopard, Lion and Mt. Lion with my older HP printers.

  • I have Microsoft Office 2007 for Windows XP and just got a Macbook Pro. Is there any way to install MO2007 on my new Mac?

Just purchased a new Mac and need Word, etc. etc. I was wondering how to/if I could install the Microsoft Office 2007 disc on my Mac.

The only real reason you might need to install Office 2007 on your Mac is if you need Microsoft Access, and don't want to go through Filemaker Pro for Windows to migrate Access to Filemaker Pro.  Once in Filemaker Pro format, it can be put on Filemaker Pro for the Mac.    Numerous applications for download and online  offer free to nearly free access to Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint documents, including LibreOffice, OpenOffice, Neo Office, Google Docs, and Zoho Docs.   This would be much cheaper than installing a database on your Mac and PC, if Access is not part of the equation.

  • Any difference between the RAM for 1.83GHz and 2.0 GHz Macbook Pro?

    Hi all,
I want to upgrade my 2.0GHz Core Duo MacBook Pro to 2GB of RAM. So far Crucial.com is my choice however I've noticed the difference in price (due to sale) for the 1.83GHz MBP and the 2.0GHz MBP:
    http://www.crucial.com/store/mpartspecs.asp?mtbpoid=8698C1B9A5CA7304
    http://www.crucial.com/store/mpartspecs.asp?mtbpoid=B8539EC6A5CA7304
Could you guys confirm there is actuall no difference between the two memory models, and it's just a marketing ploy on Crucial's part?
    Thanks,
    Eric

The prices indicated on both links are the same. However, the answer to your question is that all MacBooks, MacBook Pros, Intel Minis, and Intel iMacs all use the same type and spec RAM. You will find the appropriate information in the computer's User Guide. It's also described in the Apple guide on how to install the RAM.

  • My MacBook Pro 13in Mid-2010 won't start unless I hold the power button for about 10 seconds! Help Please!

    Hello.
    I have a MacBook Pro 13-inch (mid-2010):
Processor: 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Memory: 4GB 1067 Mhz DDR3
    Running Mac OS X 10.7.2
Yesterday I opened my computer (was sleeping as usual) and the screen just flasehed white and the computer powered off. The magnetic electricity thingy was connected and was green, so it was fully charged, and connected to the electricity.
Since it powered off, I tried turning it on again, and again, one second after starting to boot up, screen flashed white and the computer powered off.
I read somewhere I should hold down the power button longer, so I did, and it booted up. That's why I am able to write this. But every time I turn it off or put it to sleep, it does the same thing when I boot up.
If I don't hold the power button for 10 seconds or so, the computer won't work.
Then today, I did a backup of my entie hard drive, just in case. Later, I started using Excel, and about 1 hour after I was on it, suddenly it got really slow. Like I would click on a program like Safari, and it would take over 30-45 secs to start and be ready. And my computer is usually really fast!
I went on the Internet again, started in safe mode, boot up with option+command+P+R to reset PRAM, and nothing worked. Then suddenly on one turn-off/turn-on (since I can't restart because the computer only starts if I hold the power button for 10 seconds), again it is working at normal speed.
What can this be? Any ideas?
I really appreciate your time and help in advance
    Gaby

I forgot to say I had already tried that as well. Just in case, I just tried it again and there was no change :S
Are you running the Apple-supplied RAM? Have you run Apple Hardware Test? I don't know what else you've tried, but this may be time to do a fresh install of Lion if you have not done so since installing Lion.

OWC is a reputable supplier of hard drives and RAM upgrades to the Mac community.
Go to their site, lookup your model MacBook Pro and see what upgrades are available.
The 1tb WD Scorpio Blue is a 5400rpm drive and slower than the crop of 7200rpm drives.
Do you need space over speed?

  • What type of memory would be the best for my MacBook Pro 13" Mid 2010?

I have a Mid 2010 13" Macbook Pro and I'm going to upgrade my RAM. I know I can upgrade up to 8GB of RAM, but I was wondering what is the best "brand" and what website I should buy it from. For example, eBay, NewEgg, Amazon / PNY, Crucial, etc?  Can you guys help me out? Thanx!

No one anywhere has repeatedly bought RAM from every RAM vendor everywhere, so no one is able to answer your question on the basis of experience. My own experience has been that OWC is a 100% reliable vendor of Mac-compatible products, including RAM, at good prices, with outstanding support and a warranty you can depend on. here's the RAM you need on OWC's site:

  • Replaced Logic Board, RAM, and hard drive connecting wire, but Macbook Pro 15' (Mid 2010) now freezes and shuts down randomly

I have a mid 2010, Macbook Pro '15. Summer of 2012, it kept shutting down and making the three beeping noises, so I took it in for repair. I was told that my Logicboard needed to be replaced, so I replaced it, and took my Macbook abroad with me. Halfway through the summer, the three beeping noises resumed, and since I was abroad, I couldn't use my 90 day warranty and take it back for repair. By the time I returned to the US, my warranty ended, and I was told that the RAM actually needed to be replaced. So I replaced that.
In May of this year, my laptop wouldn't start and instead showed a folder with a question mark. I took it to repair and was told it was the hard drive wire that needed to be replaced, so I replaced that. Less than two weeks after, my Mac began freezing whenever I had a YouTube video or song playing- it made short, staticky sounds and then shut down. Now, it shuts down randomly even when I'm not playing videos or songs, and regardless of if it is running on battery or plugged in. Since I got my hard drive wire replaced, I've also noticed that the laptop takes an incredibly slow time to start up.
The last the Genius Bar technicians looked at my computer when replacing the harddrive wire, they hadn't said anything else was wrong with my laptop.
I've spent almost $1000 total fixing my macbook and am quite sick of going through this over and over again. Can anyone help me know what went wrong this time? (I have no apple care) Thank you in advance.

  • What's the best SSD for a Macbook Pro 13" Mid 2010?

    Hello.
I will upgrade my 2010 Macbook Pro. I need to know what's the best SSD for my Macbook Pro. I was thinking about those:
    - Kingston SSDNow V+200 (SVP200S37A/120G) - 120 GB
    - CRUCIAL SSD M4 128 GB
    - CORSAIR SSD  Force Series GS 128 GB
    - SAMSUNG SSD 840 Series Basic 2.5" - 120 GB (MZ-7TD120BW)
    - CRUCIAL SSD interno Crucial v4 - 128 GB
Those are the easiest to find on Portugal.

It is my understanding that SATA III is backwards compatible to SATA II so that should not be an issue for your selection process.
As an aside, you might be interested to know that your MBP can now have 16 GB RAM installed.

  • Macbook Pro 15inch Mid 2010 crash and reboot itself

I have a Macbook Pro 15 inch Mid 2010, Intel Core i5 and Nvidia Geforce GT 330m 256 MB with the latest Maverick as a OS X
I been having some issues lately whatever I open from the web or even open an email it would just crash and reboot itself. Not overheating so far I see and I did not install any other softwares that could cause the problem. It is ramdom. It was happening previous OS X and if figure that by updating to the latest would maybe help also. I even did a full erase and reinstall ox x and still it does the same issue.
I think it is a video problem from what I may have read or maybe not and if it is what can I do? do I need to buy a new board? what would be the cost?
I would think which I am sure my warranty is done now.
Anyone can read this error I have supplied and know what I can do to fix this issue would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers!

already did...they will only replace the logic board.
At least it work very well without connecting to the big monitor. But sadly i got this huge monitor with wireless mouse and keyboad sitting doing nothing now.
my only other choice is to see if i can find another logic board on ebay cheaper than apple.
Very fustrating...knowing that apple knew it was a problem they made and had a limited timeframe to replace the board at no cost. Now because warranty is done...Apple basically saying not our problem should have got apple care program.
I believe if the company make an error with certain hardware they are responsible regardless the warranty is on or dead.
I love apple products...but sadly the support is very dissapointing. Get extra warranty or have Apple Care program. If dont have it....not our problem even if the hardware was bad.
