    We migrated a Groupwise 7.02-postoffice from a Netware 6.5-Sp5-server to a

    When we started gwpoa the postoffice-startup-file was not

    Destination path: /var/opt/novell/groupwise/mail/p006
    Agents:
    Post Office Agent:
    Path to startup file: \\fileserver\SYS\SYSTEM\p006.poa
    As you see, our startup-file was on another volume then the postoffice.
    In the migration-log we only saw a mount of the postoffice-volume, so we
    think there is a bug in the migration utility. It does not copy the
    startup-file if it is on another volume (in this case on the SYS-volume).
    Or did we something wrong?
    At last we solved our problem by copying (and editing) a startup-file
    to /opt/novell/groupwise/agenst/share/

    It happens between the full dbcopy and the incremental dbcopy, when the
    agent is configured.

  • Sys password problem "INSUFFICIENT PRIVELEGES"

    hi,
    This is with refernece to my earlier post, i can now login as a DBA thry OS authentication.
    Re: sys password problem
    but now i try to vreate a new password file and it successfully created using orapwd....
    but when i try to login as a sys user thru oracle authentication i couldn't because i am getting an error
    "INSUFFICIENT PRIVELEGES"
    and another thing i would like to know do i have to shutdown the database or not for the same.

    Please review the document link sent earlier
    Setting REMOTE_LOGIN_ PASSWORDFILE
    In addition to creating the password file, you must also set the initialization parameter REMOTE_LOGIN_PASSWORDFILE to the appropriate value. The values recognized are:
    NONE: Setting this parameter to NONE causes Oracle Database to behave as if the password file does not exist. That is, no privileged connections are allowed over nonsecure connections.
    EXCLUSIVE: (The default) An EXCLUSIVE password file can be used with only one instance of one database. Only an EXCLUSIVE file can be modified. Using an EXCLUSIVE password file enables you to add, modify, and delete users. It also enables you to change the SYS password with the ALTER USER command.
    SHARED: A SHARED password file can be used by multiple databases running on the same server, or multiple instances of a Real Application Clusters (RAC) database. A SHARED password file cannot be modified. This means that you cannot add users to a SHARED password file. Any attempt to do so or to change the password of SYS or other users with the SYSDBA or SYSOPER privileges generates an error. All users needing SYSDBA or SYSOPER system privileges must be added to the password file when REMOTE_LOGIN_PASSWORDFILE is set to EXCLUSIVE. After all users are added, you can change REMOTE_LOGIN_PASSWORDFILE to SHARED, and then share the file.
    This option is useful if you are administering multiple databases or a RAC database.
    If REMOTE_LOGIN_PASSWORDFILE is set to EXCLUSIVE or SHARED and the password file is missing, this is equivalent to setting REMOTE_LOGIN_PASSWORDFILE to NONE.

    I have read your post on how you have downgraded your system from Windows 8 (64-bit) to Windows 7 (32-bit), and that your system is displaying a atikmdag.sys. I would be happy to assist you in this matter!
    According to the available drivers and software for your computer, Windows 7 is only supported for the (64-bit) version of Operating System. To maintain a compatible set of drivers on your system, I recommend downgrading to a 64-bit version of Windows 7.
    I hope this helps!

  • Need to run SQL jobs with Non Sys-Admin account

    Hi Everyone,
    We've recently asked to switch our SQL service account from an account having sysadmin permissions to a non sys-admin account. Could you please give us any inputs on this.
    Thanks in advance. :)

    It's a little difficult to understand what you are talking about. First you say:
    We've recently asked to switch our SQL service account from an account having sysadmin permissions to a non sys-admin account. Could you please give us any inputs on this.
    No, the service account for SQL Server should not be a Windows administrator. It should be a standard Windows account. When you enter this account in SQL Server Configuration Manager, SSCM will assign the required permissions. You should then also assign
    the permissions "Lock pages in memory" and "Perform volume maintenance tasks".
    But then you start to talk about proxies and whatnots, and this is where you lose me entirely. Could you clarify what you are talking about?

  • Catproc and Catalog Executed as non-sys user

    One of my friend executed the above packages from a non-sys user schema.
    That schema is also important.
    Now how to clean up these objects?
    Just re-running the above packages as sys schema is enough?
    Thanks

    Excerpts from the note 1015902.4:
    Shutdown your database with 'shutdown immediate'. If this hangs for an
    extended period of time, then use 'shutdown abort'. This must be done
    as 'internal'.
    Start up your database with 'startup', or 'startup restrict'.
    The following script should be run as 'sys' or 'internal' from SQL*Plus
    (this is important for formatting the script that it creates). This script
    will create another script called file.sql. If you do not run the following
    script from SQL*Plus, you will need to edit the resulting script to make sure
    file.sql will run properly.
    ----------------------------- <script start> --------------------------
    set echo off
    set pagesize 0
    set feedback off
    spool drop.sql
    SELECT 'drop '||OBJECT_TYPE||' '||OWNER||'.'||object_name||';'
    FROM all_objects
    WHERE OWNER != 'SYS' AND OBJECT_TYPE != 'SYNONYM'
    AND OBJECT_NAME IN
    (SELECT OBJECT_NAME FROM ALL_OBJECTS
    WHERE OWNER = 'SYS')
    ORDER BY object_type, object_name;
    spool off
    set feedback on
    set echo on
    ---------------------------- <script end> -----------------------------
    Run the script created from above script as either internal or sys.
    The script will contain sql commands like:
    DROP PACKAGE SYSTEM.DBMS_SHARED_POOL;
    DROP VIEW SYSTEM.DBA_OBJECTS;
    SQL> @drop.sql
    You may alternately find the user who owns 'sys' objects, and drop that
    user.
    SQL> drop user xxxx cascade;
    This may hang. If it does, use shutdown abort, and rerun script. When the
    script completes, 'shutdown immediate' your database. Startup and run
    catalog.sql and catproc.sql as either 'sys' or 'internal'. You may then
    run pupbld.sql as the 'system' user. If you have replication installed,
    you may also need to run catrep.sql as 'sys'.
    Hints for running the catalog, catproc and catrep scripts:
    1. Check for available freespace in system tablespace, you will probably
    want at least max(bytes) at least 4M, and sum(bytes) of 10M:
    SQL> select max(bytes) from dba_free_space where tablespace_name = 'SYSTEM';
    SQL> select sum(bytes) from dba_free_space where tablespace_name = 'SYSTEM';
    2. Make system tablespace datafile autoextend:
    SQL> alter database datafile 'path\filename' autoextend on
    next 5m maxsize 100m;
    View dba_data_files for file names
    SQL> select * From dba_data_files where tablespace_name = 'SYSTEM';
    3. Make rollback_data tablespace datafile autoextend:
    SQL> alter database datafile 'path\filename' autoextend on
    next 5m maxsize 200m;
    4. Prior to running data dictionary scripts, spool to file
    SQL> spool file.log
    5. Check file.log and alert<SID>.log after execution for errors.
    Solution Explanation:
    =====================
    When CATALOG.SQL or CATPROC.SQL were run as SYSTEM or another schema owner,
    this created some valid and invalid objects owned by SYSTEM (in view
    DBA_OBJECTS) that should be owned by SYS only. Comparing those object owned
    by SYS with objects owned by other schemas and deleting the duplicate
    objects removes the duplicate objects.

  • User Directories on a Non Startup Volume?

    Is there a way to create or move the user directories to a non-startup volume?
    What I am trying to do is to either partition my internal drive (or perhaps actually use a secondary drive) such that I have a smaller startup volume that holds ONLY my OS and applications, and then use a secondary partition or drive that holds ALL my data. There are several reasons why I would like to do this, which I won't get into at this point.
    Is there a way to force the creation of the user directories onto another volume? Or is it possible to move the directories to another volume after creation and have the system look for them in the new location? I would think this should be possible because in a way OSX Server uses this scheme (over a network).

    Shahin wrote:
    Have you personally done this? Can you attest to its success?
    No, but I have no reason to think that it wouldn't work. I just don't like partitions.
    Also any comments regarding the reply above yours warning as to possible problems with this? This can obviously be disastrous if it doe snot work. Of course I will back up before proceeding with this, but I am more concerned about ongoing and strange problems that may occur over time.
    Well, there is that
    What you ask is certainly a non-standard configuration for MacOS X. However, it is also 100% valid. Apple wouldn't give you that option if they didn't intend to support it. I have no doubt you will run into odd problems where some 3rd party software (or the odd Apple installer) assumes your home directory is at /Users/whatever. It would definitely be a good idea to keep your old home directory around for a month or two.
    Another option would be to just mount that other drive at /Users, after copying your home folder there, of course. You would have no problems with software because your home directory is still the default, just mounted differently. In the event of a hardware failure on either the startup or other volume, you could have some issues getting things right again. Apple does not provide any easy-to-use method for this. You have to hack around in your /etc/fstab file or maybe auto_master or auto_home. There is a little bit of black magic behind the automounter however.

  • Continuing Speakerphone Volume Problem

    After anxiously waiting three months for a firmware/software update that would fix the speakerphone volume problem I updated my two iPhones to v. 1.1.1. Unfortunately, neither of my iphones showed any increase in speakerphone volume.
    We spoke to an Apple employee at our nearest Apple store (also the biggest and busiest Apple store in our area), and found out that if we wanted a speakerphone that we could use we should bring the phones in and have the Genius verify the low volume and give us a "part substitution" (which meant an opened iphone).
    Instead (for various reasons) we decided to buy another IPhone, figuring "what are the chances that we would get three iPhones with very low speakerphones?" Also figuring that this very busy Apple store would have the latest IPhones available, with the speakerphone volume fixed. Apparently three is not the charm. Our new iPhone's speakerphone volume was just as low as our other two iPhones.
    And our newest iPhone had the 1.1.1 update on it from the start. So I guess we will now try option (1).
    For those of you who have had problems with the speakerphone volume and brought the IPhone back to the Apple store, were you able to find one with good speakerphone volume? I sure hope so!
    Thanks!
    Ashley

    When people started complaining initially about the speakerphone issue. I brought my phone to my local Apple Store and the guy at the Genius Bar and I compared the speakerphone volume with the display phones. We did notice that mine was quieter than the rest. Because my phone was past the 14 day return period, my phone was sent out.
    In all honesty, if there was an improvement, I would say it's very minimal. Long story short, I was able to swap out my phone for a brand new one and the speaker volume is relatively the same. Did the firmware 1.1.1 make it any louder? Not really. What I do notice is that the alert volumes have improved and that volume went up. But the speakerphone volume remained unchanged.
    Personally this phone wasn't built for speakerphone use and you'll do better buying a bluetooth headset or a speakerphone instead. It's acceptable in a quiet environment but trying to use the speakerphone in public is out of the question.

  • Dequeuing the message using Non Sys user

    Hi all,
    I've implemented Advanced Queuing in one Schema(Say "temp") which has AQ privileges. My requirement is Asynchronous Communication between two programs.
    In One program i've DBMS_AQ.ENQUEUE to put the message onto the queue. The user "temp" enqueued the message.
    I've a anonymous PL/SQL callback procedure registered to dequeue the message. but while dequeuing the message, the user is "SYS". Immediately after dequeuing the message, i've a call to the second program which uses some views. In my application we have dba policies applied to these views. So only temp user can access those views where SYS user doesnt have any access to these views.
    we already have one solution i.e., giving access to SYS user also but this will result in some other security concerns for the application
    Another solution could be dequeuing the message with "temp" user (NON sys user).
    So i would like to know whether it is possible to dequeue the message with NON-SYS user ? i've tried searching the dequeue options and message properties but couldn't get anything..
    can anyone help me in solving this problem??

    Hi paul,
    Thanks for the response :). I've tried this already but still the dequeue user id "SYS". i'll explain you in detail with the code.
    I've create queue table and queue with the following code :
    create or replace TYPE temp_msg_type as object (seq_no NUMBER(10),
    req_type varchar2(6))
    begin
    dbms_aqadm.create_queue_table(
    queue_table => 'test_queue_tab',
    queue_payload_type => 'temp_msg_type',
    multiple_consumers => true);
    dbms_aqadm.create_queue(
    queue_name => 'test_queue',
    queue_table => 'test_queue_tab');
    dbms_aqadm.start_queue(
    queue_name => 'test_queue');
    end;
    After this an Agent is subscribed to this queue.
    begin
    dbms_aqadm.add_subscriber(
    queue_name => 'test_queue',
    subscriber => sys.aq$_agent('recipient', null, null));
    end;
    Then registered an PL/SQL callback procedure to this queue.
    begin
    dbms_aq.register(aq$_reg_info_list(
    aq$_reg_info('test_queue:RECIPIENT',
    DBMS_aq.NAMESPACE_AQ,
    'plsql://notifyCB_prd',
    HEXTORAW('FF')) ) ,
    1);
    end;
    The follwing procedure will enqueue the message. in the below code before i enqueue it i am inserting the current sessions' user, it got printed as "SCOTT".
    create or replace procedure enqueue_msg_prd( O_status_code IN OUT varchar2 )
    as
    enqueue_options dbms_aq.enqueue_options_t;
    message_properties dbms_aq.message_properties_t;
    message_handle RAW(16);
    message temp_msg_type;
    begin
    --enqueue_options.visibility := DBMS_AQ.IMMEDIATE;
    message := temp_msg_type(112, user);
    O_status_code := 'S';
    dbms_aq.enqueue(queue_name => 'test_queue',
    enqueue_options => enqueue_options,
    message_properties => message_properties,
    payload => message,
    msgid => message_handle);
    end;
    The following procedure will dequeue the message. this procedure will be automatically triggered when i commit the enqueue transaction since there is anonymous callback procedure registered for this queue. In the below code after i dequeue it i am inserting the sessions' user, it got printed as "SYS".
    create or replace
    procedure notifyCB_prd( context raw,
    reginfo aq$_reg_info,
    descr aq$_descriptor,
    payload raw,
    payloadl number)
    as
    dequeue_options dbms_aq.dequeue_options_t;
    message_properties dbms_aq.message_properties_t;
    message_handle raw(16);
    message temp_msg_type;
    begin
    dequeue_options.msgid := descr.msg_id;
    dequeue_options.consumer_name := descr.consumer_name;
    --execute immediate 'conn  session set current_user= scott';
    DBMS_AQ.DEQUEUE(
    queue_name => descr.queue_name,
    dequeue_options => dequeue_options,
    message_properties => message_properties,
    payload => message,
    msgid => message_handle);
    insert into temp values(message.seq_no,user);
    commit;
    end;
    Even i queried the aq$test_queue_Tab view. in this view, value in deq_user_id is "SYSS"
    is there any way to get the users session as 'SCOTT' ??

    Anyone know when Apple will bring out a patch to fix the volume problem you get on mac mini after downloading OS 10.8.5?

    Only Apple knows the answer to whether or not there is a verified problem and if so when will a fix be released.  As is their custom, Apple does not talk about these things and the rules of these communities prohibit speculation about future udates or upgrades. It is probably safe to say if a fix is deemed necessary it will be called OS X 10.8.6.

    Hi,
    I have a grey screen and grey rotating wheel startup probs. I have tried repairing with the disk utility, resetting PRAM, booting in safe mode (which gave a subset of the errors that 'disk repair' did- namely- 'invalid sibling link,invalid record count, invalid node structure, invalid key length)  and finally trying to get to archive&install the o/s, but it cannot find the destination volume. Is an erase the only option? PS I have backed up most files individually, but my daughter did not back up any from her user account. Any help would be appreciated. J

  • Trying to backup despite Volume problems

    I appear to have some volume problems with my internal HDD.
    When I try to diagnose and fix it with Disk Utility the error is:
    "Incorrect number of thread records" & "Invalid volume directory count"
    Though the volume needs repairing, disk utility can't do it (nor can TechTool Pro http://www.micromat.com/index.php?option=com_simpleboard&Itemid=42&func=view&id= 525&catid=6)
    Since I can't fix it I think I understand that it would be best to back things up, reformat the drive.
    My question is esssentially academic. Would backing things up copy the volume problem I'm experiencing? or would it even allow me to copy things correctly? And how does one know what file was damaged or corrupted?

    Good questions. Repairing the HD problem is something Disk Warrior could possibly correct. It's the best app. for resolving directory problems.
    Did Disk Utility specifically tell you that it couldn't fix the drive, or did it simply report the error. If it's the latter, I would rerun Disk Utility as many times as necessary to get a clean run (no problems). This may not be possible given what was reported in your Micromat referenced link, however, it's worth a try.
    Given the current state of the directory, you would not be able to create a clean clone backup of the drive. I suspect you would see an error during the copying. You could though drag/drop specific folders/files to the drive to the extent your HD cooperates. IMO, a "must" for any maintenance strategy.
    Do you have a current cloned backup of your system. If you do, you could always copy it over the existing drive. If it is "somewhat current", you could drag/drop important data files on your computer's HD to either external media or another parition on the external, then recopy the clone to the HD. Afterward, move the data files back to their original locations.
