Basic Develop tool questions

After adjusting the White Balance, I always adjust the Exposure, though I am not so clear on the difference between the Shadows and the Blacks? I can see the difference when adjusting both of these, though I am not really clear on what it is doing. Can anyone please clarify?
Thanks.

  • SQL Developer tool question

    Hi Folks
    I am using SQL Developer tool. I have a procedure with compilation errors so i can see that procedure with red X mark in SQL Developer tool.
    When am clicking on the procedure it is going to the editor there i can see "code"."grants","dependencies","references","details","profiles".
    But i can't able to see "Errors" tab in the editor. And main thing is i didnt see any red lines in the editor for the invalid procedure
    And when i recompiled that procedure it got recompiled successfully and that red x mark is vanished.
    Here my question is the "Errors" tab is only appears when the procedure/function/package has errors and surprisingly i didnt see any red lines in the editor for invalid procedure (may be my proc has no errors).
    Thanks

    Hello,
    maybe your procedure has been invalidated by some DDL, e.g. a new column has been added to a table that is referenced in your procedure. The status will be INVALID until you recompile it or until you call the procedure, then it will be recompiled automatically.
    (may be my proc has no errors).Very likely.

  • Basic ARC Tool question

    For drawing arc like shapes, what is the difference with doing this with the Arc tool VS. using the pen tool to draw the same type of shapes? Is it just an easier way to do it? OR is there some other advantage?

    Depends on your version. In CS5 you can just select all the open paths you wat to connect and then hit Cmd (or Ctrl) + J
    In older version select two anchor points at a time and connect them (or use scripts)

  • Basic Pen tool questions

    When plotting anchor points to draw straight lines (see this image) what is the best way to ensure that the width of each wave (in this example) is the same as the other ones? How do you know where to plot the anchor points to do this? Thanks.

    keeping the same height can be guided by using the Smart Guides from the View menu, but for the width there is nothing that can assist like that except displaying and snapping to the Grid also accessible from the View menu. Depending on the width you may want to customize the grid in the Preferences to make it more useful. Those were general tips, but when you have a repeating pattern like this you can easily repeat one segment many times by duplicating it  and then join all segments. And for your particular example you can just use the Zig Zag effect from Effects > Distort and Transform to create this right away.

  • What's the difference between the Application Developer Tools and Server Applications CD

    I have 2 questions about Sql Server 2005.
    1.  I have 2 sets of CDs, one is called Sql Server 2005 Developer Edition, Applications Developer Tools, and another one called Sql Server 2005 Developer Edition Servers Server Applications.
    I installed the Applications Developer Tools on my development pc, and I was able to use create and populate a database, and use Sql Server Management Studio fine. I wonders what 's the Servers Server Applications set of cds for.
    2.  I just like to install Sql Server 2005 on a test pc also.  Can I use my Developer Edition Applications Developer Tools to install it ?
    Thanks.

    Is this still an issue?

  • Updating developer tools

    This is going to sound like a really basic question, maybe even dumb, but is there a way to update all of your developer tools? I was just on a thread where Xcode 3.1 vs. 3.2 was being discussed, and I checked my version only to see that I still have 3.0. I've always relied on Software Update to update all my software, but I guess it doesn't update the developer apps. Now, I know I could go online and download the new version of Xcode, but then what -- do I have to go and one at a time do the same thing with Interface Builder and Dashcode and Quartz Composer and all the utilities and what not, or is there a way to update them all at once? Thanks!

    So to make sure I have this right, I would simply go and download the Developer Tools from Mac's web site just like I would do if I were installing them for the first time, and then install them on my computer and it will do the rest for me?
    Yes, if all goes well. You pretty much just click Install and it's the installer's job to get everything in the right place.
    How does that work -- does it just overwrite the apps that need to be updated and leave the rest alone or what?
    An installation tool is often more complex than the software it installs. The process can be extensive, and usually is for a dev tools upgrade. Some installation programs tell you what they're doing, and you'll see that they first scan the environment to determine whether you have the correct hardware and OS. Then they'll look to see if an older version is installed. If so, the installer might move some files, delete others, and leave some unchanged just as you surmised. Most of that work will be completed before any new files are installed.
    One word of caution:... Always wait until you have a real need for some feature in a newer version.
    ... the only thing I worry about is that I don't know enough about the features available to know if a newer version might have something that might be helpful
    A lot depends on what you're building with the tools. If you were currently developing iPhone apps, you'd probably have a need to upgrade your tools every few weeks because the target system is changing so rapidly. If you were developing OS X apps, you would be watching for new features, but OS X is a relatively mature system, so it's not changing as fast as iPhone OS. This means that an OS X developer might consider an upgrade every few monthes instead of every few weeks.
    If your primary purpose is to learn programming--perhaps first in C and then Obj-C--your work isn't likely to be affected by minor version numbers, or even major version numbers for that matter. For example, one of your recent threads was about C99. Implicit in that discussion was the fact that the most recent upgrade to the C language was 10 years ago. This tells you that a change from Xcode 3.1 to Xcode 3.2 will probably have zero effect on the work you're doing right now. Even when a new version of Xcode also brings in a new version of the C compiler, gcc, the kind of change involved isn't likely to interest you. You could learn C with a compiler that was 30 years old and do just fine. Obj-C might change a little faster than C, but for your purposes, it's not going to be a moving target.
    When you start studying Cocoa and especially if you get interested in learning about iPhone programming you might need to worry more about upgrading simply because the Mac and iPhone Dev Centers are constantly purging the older guides, reference docs, sample code, etc., and replacing these with resources that apply to the newest systems. Similarly, you might buy a book on programming that refers to tools that are newer than yours. But you'll know when that happens.
    Don't upgrade your tools every few weeks just to find out whether you're missing out on something. Right now, what you're missing out on is lots of time and effort spent making new installations work, and then learning how to use those new tools. Just about the time you discover what some little icon on your Build Results window does, it will be moved to a new hiding place in your new version of Xcode.
    Btw, Xcode 3.2 is only for Snow Leopard. I think the newest version for OS X 10.5.x is 3.1.3. So if and when you get Snow Leopard you'll have to get new Dev Tools. Until then, I doubt you need to bother, especially if you like your current environment and--best of all--everything is working!
    Hope that answers your questions.

  • Tns problem with Oracle 11g ODAC 11.1.0.6.21 with Oracle Developer Tools

    I installed the full
    Oracle 11g ODAC 11.1.0.6.21 with Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio
    now I am at the good old "[ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified]" error.
    I copied the same tnsnames.ora as used on the db server
    onto the client "C:\Oracle\product\11.1.0\client_2\Network\Admin".
    The host name is right since a normal ping works. TNSping is not available.
    but I get the [ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified] error.
    The listener is running and the instance as well since it all works on the source server.
    I tried it with
    SET path=c:\oracle\product\11.1.0\client_2\bin
    but tnsping is still not recognized.
    sqlplus works on the other hand when I set it to
    SET path=c:\oracle\product\11.1.0\client_2\
    what is going on...

    hey

  • Good development tools???

    I am looking for some good FREE development tools to run under Windows XP. Anyone got some suggestions???
    Right now I am using Gvim, Sun JDK, JSwat.
    I would like a better Visual Debugger.
    I would really like to use an IDE that would allow me to launch Gvim for the file editor, or possible an IDE that has a vi editing mode.
    Most importantly I am looking for a stand alone application that will display java API information.
    Side note: Does anyone know how to make Gvim help (SHIFT+K) interface with the java API docs under windows???
    Thanks,
    Matt

    Well, there are a few free IDE's. I don't know if you are familar with any like Forte, Netbeans, or JBuilder so I'll just give you some details.
    Forte and Netbeans are basically the same. Netbeans is developed and destributed as freeware by a group of developers. Forte is Sun's version of Netbeans, which is basically a stable release of Netbeans with possibly some addons from Sun. I don't use either anymore, but from what I recall, they are essentially the same. You can grab Forte from Sun's web site. You can grab Netbeans for http://www.netbeans.org.
    Now, my personal favorite, is Borland's JBuilder. It runs faster than Forte and Netbeans, especially on computers with low RAM (64 MB min). Borland offers a free personal version than can do all the basics. It has a nice drag and drop GUI builder. I find it the easiest to use as well. It also has a built in debugger and Insite. You can grab JBuilder from Borland at http://www.borland.com.

  • Oracle Development Tools and TFS

    Hey there,
    currently I'm struggeling with how to work with Visual Studio Oracle Development Tools and TFS.
    I'm relatively new to Oracle-DBs, I'm known to MS SQL Server.
    In General my colleagues and me work in the solution Explorer (SQL Server DB-Solution), upload and get the latest Version from TFS. If anything new comes in I can easily use the Schema compare from my solution to the database.
    Now my question: How is this possible when working with Oracle DBs? Imagine I get some new tables and schemas from TFS. How do I Transfer this easily from solution Explorer to my Server Explorer / DBs?
    Do I really have to deploy each and every script manually?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Matthaeus Woroch,
    Since this issue is related to the Oracle tool, you know that it is the third party tool and it has own support site, like the following documents:
    http://www.oracle.com/webfolder/technetwork/tutorials/obe/db/12c/r1/appdev/dotnet/SchemaCompare/index.html
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/visual-studio/overview/index.html
    I suggest you post this issue to the Oracle forum for dedicated support. Thanks for your understanding.

  • Do I need the QT development tools?

    Hey,
    I've installed some KDE apps recently and I've noticed that QT development tools have also been installed. Do I need these? Or can I remove them?
    thanks

    That's really a question only you can answer.  If other packages depend on it, Pacman will say so when you try to uninstall it.

  • Create a LOV for parameters in development tools

    Hi,
    I found a way to create a LOV for a parameter using PL/SQL developer.
    The code is as followed:
    select * from account_hier t
    where t.level_a LIKE &<name="Level A"
    hint="Level A"
    type="string"
    default="%"
    ifempty="%"
    list="select distinct level_a,level_a from account_hier"
    description="yes"
    >
    and t.level_b LIKE &<name="Level B"
    hint="Level B"
    type="string"
    default="%"
    ifempty="%"
    list="select distinct level_b,level_b from account_hier where level_a = :level_a"
    description="yes"
    >
    It works beautifully but my question is whether something like this can be applied using TOAD (I'm using 9.7.2).
    How can I define a LOV for the parameters in the parameters window?
    Thanks
    Tamir

    Tamir-L wrote:
    Hi,
    How are we supposed to know a) what your code is actually doing and
    When running this code in PL/SQL developer when the parameters will popup for population you'll see that there is a list of values for the parameters.I (and many others of us) don't have PL/SQL developer. It's a 3rd party tool, not part of Oracle. Therefore we can't run the code to see what it does.
    b) how to achieve that on some other 3rd party tool?
    That's exactly my question, How can (if at all) I do the same with TOAD ?Based on your description, I'm not sure if TOAD supports such things. It sounds like something specific to PL/SQL developer.
    LOV's are not something in SQL or PL/SQL, so your question does not make sense.If you'll create similer code than you'll understand that LOV can be defined in PL/SQL developer tool in the SQL editor.Only if we have PL/SQL developer. Which we don't.
    To make it easier try to run the following code:
    select 'Example' from dual
    where 'field11' LIKE &<name="LOV A"
    hint="Choose a value for field1"
    type="string"
    default="field11"
    ifempty="field11"
    list="select distinct 'field11','field11' from dual union all select distinct 'field12','field12' from dual"
    description="yes"
    *>*
    *;*I can't.
    To clarify my question once more:
    If a sql is running under TOAD and that code have parameters the parameters window will pop once the code is executed.
    I would like to know whether I can define a LOV for the parameters.I've never come across this in TOAD.

  • Scheduler for Export Table utility using PL/SQL developer Tool

    Hi,
    Is there any way by which i can schedule manually export tables from a user using PL/SQL developer tool 'Export Tables' utility.
    As i have lot many schema a for each i have to manually exporting all tables using this utility.
    Please suggest.
    Thanks,

    Hello,
    do you mean PL/SQL developer from Allroundautomation? Then this is the wrong forum.
    Do you mean the export feature from SQL Developer, that you can invoke on right click in a result pane? You cannot automate it.
    But if you tell us more about your requirements we might be able to find a good solution for you. Yet this is a question for the {forum:id=75} forum. There is a FAQ {message:id=9360007}. This combined with dbms_scheduler or a scheduled job on your computer might solve the problem.

  • Syntax highlighting not working on PL/SQL developer tool

    Hello,
    Syntax highlighting is not working on PL/SQL developer tool using the beautifier. When I go set Syntax highlighting parameters (from  EDIT>PL/SQL Developer Beautifier Options > User Interface> Editor> Syntax Highlighting ) and click apply, the changes are not reflected in SQL code in the SQL window. Other feautures in the beautifier such as Fonts, Window types are working fine.
    Please help me with this issue.

  • Development Tools for R12

    Hi,
    I am positive this has been answered before on Metalink but I can't seem to get the definitive answer from metalink nor can I find one in the Forums here. So, here is the question again.
    We will be upgrading from 11.5.10 to R12.1.3 on Linux later this year. I am in the process of getting all the following development tools necessary for our R12 development on Windows clients. So, I need to install the appropriate patched versions of these dev tools on Windows 7/Windows XP machines to work with our Apps R12.1.3 going forward. Metalink suggested that I follow the link in note "437878.1 - Upgrading OracleAS 10g Forms and Reports in Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12". I still could not understand whether I need to install Developer Suite 10.1.2 and apply the patch listed in the note or Install Oracle Application Server 10.1.2 (from OTN?) and apply the patch listed in the note to bring the tools up to 10.1.3 version. This is where my confusion lies. Again this is separate from the middle tier software for R12 - this is for client development that will then be FTPed to middle tier and compiled there/

  • Why are web developer tools not available on Firefox for Android?

    I do some freelance web design. I just replaced my laptop with a tablet last year (Samsung Galaxy 10.5 S). I want to do web development on it - I work from a terminal doing Ruby on Rails and web development all the time. It would be awesome to have the F12 developer tools handy in Firefox for Android, but sadly I've waited for a while and there is no indication they will ever appear.
    Do NOT suggest using a remote debugger - I'm not testing the layout of pages on my tablet, I want to be able to profile, view source (without an add-on) and such. I have seen this exact question marked closed by suggesting remote debugging, and I fail to see how telling me to use my tablet next to a laptop or desktop is a solution. Telling me to carry a second device means I don't need the tablet at all, when my intention is to ONLY use the tablet.
    My tablet has a huge screen resolution and a powerful processor - more powerful than some laptops? Why is Firefox for Android neutered? I would understand disabling it by default to help those with less powerful devices, but why remove something that would add a competitive edge to your product, and is already integrated in desktop Firefox and has been for years? I prefer Firefox, but if Chrome adds web developer tools for Android first, I'll switch to Chrome.
    There are people today using a tablet as their sole computing device. Please do not relegate us to a second-class Firefox experience!
    Thanks,
    Ryan
