Basic Flash preferences question

F8as2 - (Flash8 - Actionscript2)
I frequently open 10 FLAs at the same time due to the nature
of the training programs I am producing. The problem is that each
time I open an FLA the stage is just a little too large for the
viewable area. I have to select the hand tool to allow 'full
screen' viewing. This gets old after a while.
Question: Is there a way in Flash to open all FLAs so that
each FLA opens in the full screen mode with all of the stage being
visible??
Thanks

Sure, no worries.

Aha. When you put it that way, that puts me in mind of the
Property
inspector. Open a new, blank FLA. Let the stage dimensions be
whatever
they happen to be. Now click the stage, then notice the Size
button in the
Property inspector (the button itself will have "[some
number] x [some
number] pixels" written on it). Click that button, and you'll
get the
Document Properties dialog box, which lets you change the
width and height
of the stage. To the left of the OK button on that dialog
box, you'll find
a Make Default button. Click that.

  • Basic Flash CS4 Question

    Hi all,
    I am wondering why I can create shapes with the fill and stroke I specify only in templates and not when I select a new action script 3.0 or any of the other types of flash documents. Does anyone have a link to information on this or can explain what I need to configure?

    I have tried to answer your same question under flash section, if the answer is helpful then please close this thread.

  • Basic Flash movie questions from a Flex coder

    Hi,
    I've coded several Flex applications (I'm a programmer by
    trade) for the last 6 months. Now I have a new project to do with
    Flash, and I'm mighty confused - as I don't know much about Flash
    and its timelines, etc.
    I've been given a bunch of FLV files - movies from a video
    camera like you see on Youtube. I'd like to add some logic to them.
    Do I create a new Flex or Flash project and somehow embed the
    FLV file?
    I read that the they can attach "labels" to timelines in a
    movie and that I can react to the labels being triggered using
    event handlers. Can I programmatically add labels to an existing
    FLV movie?
    So after all is said and done, I'm guessing I would compile
    it using MXMLC if it is a Flex project. But what if it were a Flash
    project, what is the compiler? In addition, can I simply code the
    whole thing as an actionscript (.as) file and compile it using a
    Flash compiler?

    I wouldn't embed the files. This is OK if they don't include
    audio that's synched to the video, but otherwise will be
    problematic. You'll get better performance overall by linking to
    the external FLV. To 'add logic' you'll need to us cue points.
    These can either be added via ActionScript or embedded into the FLV
    using something like Flash Video Encoder. You can use the cue
    points to trigger whatever actions you require.

  • Basic Flash/AS3 Question - Please help!

    I am pretty new to ActionScript 3 and Flash. I don't want my movie clip to play unless the person's mouse curser is on the movie clip for more than a second. If the person just runs their curser over the movie clips really quickly, then it should do nothing. It must be more than a second. How do I code that?
    ActionScript Code I have that needs to be altered:
    stop();
    var myTimer:Timer = new Timer(1000, 1);
    myTimer.addEventListener(TimerEvent.TIMER, timerListener);
    function timerListener (e:TimerEvent):void{
    gotoAndPlay("over1");
    image1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER, image1overFunc);
    function image1overFunc(e:MouseEvent):void {
    myTimer.start();

    stop();
    var myTimer:Timer = new Timer(1000, 1);
    myTimer.addEventListener(TimerEvent.TIMER, timerListener);
    function timerListener (e:TimerEvent):void{
    gotoAndPlay("over1");
    image1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER, image1overFunc);
    image1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OUT, image1outFunc);
    function image1overFunc(e:MouseEvent):void { myTimer.start();
    function image1outFunc(e:MouseEvent):void {

  • Choosing different webcam in Lion's Flash Preferences (workaround?)

    I am aware of the bug the prevents clicking in the Flash Settings in OSX Lion. There is a workaround using the Flash Preferences and Allowing for a specific site, but this does not solve my issue:
    I need to select a different camera (or mic) in the Flash Settings. The webcam/mic settings are already set to "Allow" on the site but the wrong webcam is selected so nothing appears. I can use the tab button and space bar to select different aspects of the Flash Settings, but I don't know how to force the drop down menu on the webcam settings to select a different webcam (I can highlight it with a few tabs).
    The Flash Preferences under Mac System Preferences allows me to select which sites allow the webcam, but not which webcam to use. And I can select the Global Settings window on the Adobe website but not a Camera Settings window.
    How can I select a different webcam?

  • White screen with a flashing folder & question mark

    My IMac froze today and when I turned it off and then back on, it just sticks on a white screen with a flashing folder & question mark...  Help?

    Reinstall Snow Leopard without erasing the drive
    Do the following:
    1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
    Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
    If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
    If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed with reinstalling OS X.  Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files.  After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
    Download and install the Combo Updater for the version you prefer from support.apple.com/downloads/.
    Reinstalling Lion Without the Installer
    Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alterhatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
    When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
    Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Continue button.
    Note: You can also re-download the Lion installer by opening the App Store application. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. You should now see an active Install button to the right of your Lion purchase entry. There are situations in which this will not work. For example, if you are already booted into the Lion you originally purchased with your Apple ID or if an instance of the Lion installer is located anywhere on your computer.

  • Startup stuck on a Flashing Folder/Question Mark

    Aloha,
    I have been looking for a solution to my problem for several months now and have never found a solution.
    One day my computer froze so I forced a shut down by holding the on/off button.
    When I turned on the machine again the folder/question mark appeared.
    I have tried all the hot keys.
    Option-only shows the refresh and forward buttons but no options.
    I thought my hard drive failed, so I bought a new one and installed it.
    When I placed the OS DVD in to install a fresh copy I still got the flashing folder/question mark.
    I don't know what to do, any suggestions?

    sione wrote:
    I don't know how to get to the system preferences if i can't get past the flashing folder/question mark.
    Correct you'll not be able to...
    The question mark appears when the boot loader cannot find a valid OS system/partition.
    Here is what I would try:
    1. Boot from the OSX installer by inserting the disk into the Mac then power-off. Power-on the Mac and immediately press and hold the "C-key" until you get the installer Language screen. Select your language and continue. The next screen should be the Welcome screen, go to the top and select Utilities/Disk Utilities from the tool bar. Once Disk Utilities is open select your internal (if it appears) then select the first aid tab. In the first aid pane select to run "Repair disk". If "Repair Disk" results in errors then run it again until it reports no errors found. Once "Repair Disk" is complete with no errors then press and run "Repair Permissions". Once complete reboot to test the Mac.
    2. If the above does not work then try booting with the Startup Manager, by pressing and holding the "option-key" during boot. The GUI Startup Manager will appear and you can select the drive you wish to boot from.
    3. Alternately press the "X-key" during boot.
    4. And lastly before we give you the bad news... make sure that the mouse or track-pad button is not being pressed or stuck during system boot.
    If none of these works then you most likely have a bad drive. And you'll need to replace it. You do have a back up right?
    Do you have another Mac, to use for troubleshooting?

    How do I reboot my machine when it is flashing a question mark folder?

    Booting From An OS X Installer Disc
    1. Insert OS X Installer Disc into the optical drive.
    2. Restart the computer.
    3. Immediately after the chime press and hold down the "C" key.
    4. Release the key when the spinning gear below the dark gray Apple logo appears.
    5. Wait for installer to finish loading.
    After the installer loads proceed through the installation procedure.  If you are reinstalling Snow Leopard then your hard drive will not be erased.

  • Mac book pro flashing a question mark folder

    What does it mean when my mac book pro is flashing a question mark folder and will not boot

    There are four general causes of this issue:
    1. The computer's PRAM no longer contains a valid startup disk setting when there aren't any problems with the disk itself. This can be checked for by pressing the Option key and seeing if the drive appears.
    2. The internal drive's directory structure has become damaged. This requires usage of an alternate bootable system to perform the repair.
    3. Critical system files have been deleted. This requires usage of an alternate bootable system to reinstall them.
    4. The internal drive has died or become unplugged. This is the most likely case if the computer took a sharp impact or there are unusual sounds coming from the hard drive's location.

  • Problem with Adobe Flash Preferences on Linux

    Using Mozilla Firefox as my default browser, when I open up the Adobe Flash Preferences App from the Linux menu, and check (Advanced)(Updates) and click on the (Check Now) button.
    This action used to open up a new tab on Firefox, when it was already open, and go to the appropriate page at adobe.com to check my flash version.
    When Firefox was not already open it would launch Firefox and go to the appropriate page at adobe.com and check my flash version.
    Now, it launches a new instance of Firefox to a blank page.
    This used to work, about 6-8 months ago, and is the cause of a lot of frustration now, since I have to go to adobe.com and do a search for the page that displays my version and then see if that version is the latest available.
    Flash Version: 11.2.202.291
    OS Version: Debian Linux 3.2.0-4-686-pae (32-bit)
    Browser: Mozilla Firefox 23.0

    It sounds as though you already downloaded and installed the plugin as described in this article: [[How do I watch Flash videos with Firefox for Android?]]
    I look for a thread about the Note 4 and found confirmation that it "should" work here: [http://forums.androidcentral.com/samsung-galaxy-note-4/450745-note-4-adobe-flashplayer.html Note 4 Adobe Flashplayer - Android Forums at AndroidCentral.com].
    However, I don't have that device so you might try that forum if you can't get it working.

  • My old iMac (screen sits on a white dome) opens with a tiny folder that flashes a question mark, instead of a login to user's desktop

    My old iMac (screen sits on a white dome) opens with a tiny folder that flashes a question mark, instead of a login to user's desktop, when booting up after a forced shutdown. How do I get my operating system working again? Thanks --Jim

    The blinking question mark indicates that the firmware could not find a valid Operating System on your machine.
    Your harddrive may have failed. Your filesystem may have be come corrupted.
    Try these things.
    -- try to boot up from the installation disc.
    The startup manager will list all of your bootable partitions then give you a choice of which to boot.  Hold down the option key then power on. Continue holding down the option key until you see the startup manager. This brings up the startup manager. Click on your hd or disc. Click on right arrow key.
    -- Sometimes if volumes don't appear in Startup Manager (what you get when you hold down the Option key at startup), you need to reset the Mac's PRAM, NVRAM, and Open Firmware. Shut down the Mac, then power it up, and before the screen lights up, quickly hold down the Command, Option, P, and R keys, until the Mac has chimed twice more after the powerup chime.
    Then, before the screen lights up, hold down Command-Option-O-F until the Open Firmware screen appears. Then enter these lines, pressing Return after each one:
    reset-nvram
    set-defaults
    reset-all
    "The reset-all command should restart your Mac. If so, you have successfully reset the Open Firmware settings."

    Try taking the battery out for 10 minutes.  Put battery back in.  Cross fingers. Power the machine back on.

  • Basic Flash Page, Script Help Please!

    So, I realize I'm an idiot, but I'm trying to teach myself flash because I need to make a basic flash page.  I am going by this tutorial:
    http://www.flash-game-design.com/flash-tutorials/basic-Website-flash-tutorial.html
    I have modified it (going step by step mind you) and now that it's over, instead of the page loading normally, it just goes from page to page without clicking on a link at all.  Just goes from home, to about, to artists, etc.
    I get no errors so... I'm a little lost.
    I've uploaded the swf for reference.

    I always say to doublecheck the instance names... you'd be surprised how often some says they're okay when they're not.  Sometimes they are using library names, not instances names, and something they simply did not assign instance names.
    Your description of how the buttons are related to a movieclip isn't clear, but if the traces I mentioned come out, then the buttons are working.
    I wish there was a way I could see the full set of messages for this posting (like the old system)... at this point I have to guess what I remember seeing...  Do you have frame labels in your section mc that match the calls in your buttons functions?
    For the home page issue... If it disappears it is likely going to another frame.  If a command says gotoAndPlay... and you're already there, it will advance in the timeline even if there is a stop in that frame (the stop is used up)
    Here's a routine that worked for another posting as far as getting the file to upload in the forum...
    1) zip the fla file
    2) rename the zip file to have a txt extenstion

  • Basic recording/feedback question

    I'm recording basic vocals against accompaniment tracks using an APOGEE ONE and Audio-Technica 40 series AT8449 condenser mic. I use only headphones, no external speakers.
    If I record with "monitoring" on I constantly battle feedback/distortion, especially on songs with a wide dynamic range. When the feedback protection kicks in the message indicates that I'm getting feedback through my external speakers (which I don't have), I can minimize the problem by turning "monitoring" off but I lose the reference vocal. I know I must be overlooking something very simple. Any help is appreciated.

    Okay, I know this is a basic question, and I'm not sure if this is really where I should be posting it, but maybe someone out there has experience with this.
    I have a PDF form sitting on a secure server.  I have it set up to email the completed PDF back to our company when the user clicks the SUBMIT buttton.  Whether or not the PDF is secure coming back to us would be dependent on the email server the user uses - not that the form sits in a secure area on our server or that the PDF is security settings are set, correct?
