Basic jdbc program to connect to access

hi ,
Please some one help me to connect to access databse.

are you using any IDE? if yes then you can usederby
if not then download mysql and download theconnector
for it.The OP wanted to know how to connect to Microsoft
Access(!?)Oh my bad. I got four words for you OP. Stay the hell
away from MSAccess. Try to download mysql4.1 or any
other Sql GUI program. Access is not worth.Many of us do development for customers that have specifications that despite our own personal wants/likes have requirements of things such as DBMS. While for personal projects the developer has ultimate power most production development has the benefit/curse (however you look at it) of things such as corporate standard software and prefered services. Regardless the post starter wanted help with Access not mysql or derby.

  • Can't see my tables from a JDBC program

    Hi there,
    I have a JDBC program to connect to an Oracle 9i database. The problem is that I can't see the tables I create if I do something like "SELECT * FROM TAB" from a JDBC program and hence can't use them.
    If I do the same statement from SQL * PLUS, I get the the full list of my tables including the ones I created. If i do that from JDBCTest.java, I don't get to see them. I do commit my statments and have tried committing from the Java program and from the SQL Plus after creating the tables....
    Just to make sure I have checked myself, I am pretty sure that I am connecting with the same ID/Password in which I created my tables. I have also used schema.table to no avail... I have used scott/tiger and system/manager
    If i try st.executeUpdate() for example, I get the error : java.sql.sqlException: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist...
    Any help would be greatly appreciated
    Thanx :)

    Hi MOD,
    hmmm. Sorry I am not an Oracle geek, but I am under system/manager and I created them all in there. I thought permissions are granted automatically. I tried to grant permissions to myself but had an error that I can't update them myself...
    Can you plz elaborate on how to set permissions cuz actually i installed the database (password still default) and I am not sure if there is a dba other than system/manager who could grant me permissions...
    It works on my home machine with the exact same version of Oracle and Java though and the same users and password :s
    Any other thoughts
    Thanx

  • Can i use Access 2000 for my JDBC program?

    I tried to run a JDBC program from a book and it worked. The problem is, it uses an outdated "Informix" database. I want to do it in Access 2000. Is it possible?
    Please give me a sample code if you have guys.
    Thanks
    Moses

    You have to create a DSN (Data Source Name) in Windows first. You name that DSN, and that name is what you use in your url (url = db connection string).
    Say you have Students.mdb.
    You create a DSN that points to that file and name it "studentdb", or whatever name you like (do this from the odbc data sources item in the windows Control Panel).
    You format your url in the format "jdbc:odbc:<DSN name>". IN this case, your dsn name is "studentdb", so the url would be "jdbc:odbc:studentdb". You were supposed to replace "myAccessDSN" with the name of your newly created DSN.
    The other two arguments are for username and password, which typically aren't needed for Access dbs.
    So in the end you execute the following:
    Connection con = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:odbc:studentdb","","");

    Close ... before going for a specific Cisco app ... lets find out some details:
    Host we need more details:
    What is your server environment (Windows Server, or Mac OS X Server, or Linux)?
    What security is implemented in your environment - as what is restricted (RDP for all or specifc credentials on all machines? Are you part of local admin group to the server you wish to connect)?
    Does your environment Support CISCO IPSec connection? If so use Settings> VPN and IPSec tab to enter VPN details, if not then go with above suggestion. IF your restricted to RSA then either built in VPN settings or 3rd party app for RSA would suffice.
    Finally, there are many RDP applications out there I use "Mocha RDP Light" (free minimal ads when launched not when connecting).

  • Connect Ms-Access using jdbc in local

    I'm having a problem on connecting my java application with my Access database. My Access database and class file is locate in c:\jdbc folder. Below is my code. Anyone know what wrong it is?
    Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
    String dbURL = "jdbc:odbc:C:\\jdbc\\students.mdb";
    connection = DriverManager.getConnection(dbURL);

    It's work now... but I want to learn how to configure
    my ODBC driver. Anyone can help or any place website
    that can help me get this resolves?
    sorry for asking this silly question. I'm not only new
    in Java but also RDBMS and my java book never teach
    this things... :(If you are working on windows platform,
    Start-->Settings-->Control Panel-->Data Sources(ODBC)-->User DSN or System DSN-->Add-->Microsoft Access Driver-->Finish
    Now you would have got ODBC Microsoft Access Setup.
    Enter DSN name and select the database, click on advanced and enter username and password. Thats all.
    You can use int in your pgm,
    connection = DriverManager.getConnection(dbURL,username,password);

  • JDBC-ODBC-Bridge connection to SQL Database

    Hi guys
    I have a problem. I've made a little game which I want to put on my website. It has a highscore-list which I want to connect to my web host's database server to get the current list.
    I tried this with JDBC and got it to work locally but when I uploaded it to my site it didn't work. I contacted my web host's technical support who told me that their server didn't have the JDBC driver and that I should use ODBC instead. I did lots of reading and found out about this JDBC-ODBC-Bridge. I have since been trying to implement this into my program but hasn't been successful.
    In my original JDBC connection I used
    private String url = "jdbc:mysql://" + host +  "/" + mydatabase;
    Class.forName("com.mysql.jdbc.Driver");
    Connection connection = DriverManager.getConnection(url, username, password);Now I'm trying
    private String url = "jdbc:odbc://" + host + "/" + database;
    Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
    Connection connection = DriverManager.getConnection(url, username, password);But, at least when trying it locally, I get the error

And, the JDBC Driver (the Type 4.0 ones, which the MySQL Driver is) is 100% Java, so it can even be included in an Applet, if the HTML page that accesses it is done right, and the jars are "packaged" properly.

  • Jdbc program not working

    I am trying to make a table in ms access through java and im able to compile this program also but i am not able to get its output.........................
    import java.sql.*;
    class databconnection1
    public static void main(String args[])
    try
    String n;
    int sal;
    String url="Jdbc:odbc:SS";
    //Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
    Connection con=DriverManager.getConnection(url);
    Statement stmt=con.createStatement();
    String sel="CREATE TABLE Teach (Name Text(20),Salary Number)";
    stmt.executeUpdate(sel);
    stmt.executeUpdate("INSERT INTO Teach VALUES ('namrata',900)");
    ResultSet rs=stmt.executeQuery("SELECT Name,Salary FROM Teach WHERE Salary>100");
    //System.out.println("Name Roll Marks");
    while(rs.next())
    n=rs.getString("Name");
    sal=rs.getInt("Salary");
    System.out.println(n+" "+sal);
    System.out.println("Name:"+n);
    System.out.println("Salary:"+sal);
    catch(Exception e)
    }

    1) Post the code again in [co[b]de] tags.
    2) Post the error message and stack trace if you get one, or the output if not.
    3) Never suppress exceptions:
    catch(Exception e) {
    }When you do that, you have no way of knowing if something went wrong, and what it was. Do this:
    catch(Exception e) {
       e.printStackTrace();
    }

    ...and the database is bundled in the jar.That isn't going to work.
    The MS ODBC driver (which has absolutely nothing to do with java) expects to find the MS Access file in the windows file system.
    And the contents of the jar file does not fit into that requirement.

    Does any one have any idea what I have done wrong?
    thanks

    My hunch is that you're not using the appropriate version of the JDBC driver for the version of the JDK you're using. If you use a 1.4 JDK, for example, you need to use the version of the JDBC driver for the 1.4 JDK, ojdbc14.jar.

  • How to start JDBC program from web.

    Okay I have researched this alot on how you are suppose to connect to a database using JSP and all the example just show how to print the entire database. What I need to do is take a JDBC program I have written and make it run on a web page. How can I call the program to run on a web page. The JDBC program will search,update,add information into a database but how do I get the JDBC program run on a web server. I am a newbie in JSP.

    Then could someone tell me what is the point in learning JDBC if you can't use it for web applications? Could someone then tell me which to learn in order for me to implement using my database on the web. Should I learn how to do it as a servlet or in JSP. Which is going to require less time to learn. I am kinda in a time crunch on this one. I would really like to learn both and I will probably go back and do that but I don't have time to learn both so any advice would be helpful. Thank you for you time.

    thanks to people  that can help ...

    There are some other solutions possible.
    1. Get another driver. The only one known is java only so it wont crash. But is not not free.
    2. Use a proxy driver. That means that another app actually does the database work. If it crashes you just start it again (which you can do in your main code.) That way it won't take down your server. There are commercial jdbc drivers that claim MS Access but are are really just proxy implementations as an option in this area.

    Hi SAP Experts,
    I got a requirement i.e by using MS Access or other database tools to take the SAP table dumps and analyze gaps or errors in the system data using business guided .
      I don't know how to connect MS Access to SAP R/3 and how to connect other database tools to SAP R/3.
    pls any body can explain me on this topic or inform me where i can get the corresponding documents.
    This is urgent for me.
    I appreciate you're help.

    Hi,
    For some databases (for example MSSQL, Oracle,...) you can use transaction DBCO (table DBCON) to create connection to external database. Then you can use native SQL in ABAP programs (EXEC SQL command).
