Basics -  video question

Hi All,
quick question.. all i need to do is import a ten second video, autoplay it, and loop it.
How do i? I can imort it easy.. but autoplay and loop is proving a bit more difficult.

You can import the FLV video onto stage and timeline using File -> Import -> Import Video option. Popup dialog will open. Select second radio button 'Embed FLV in swf and play in timeline'. Browse for the video file and click Next.  Select 'Place instance on Stage' and click Next. Click Finish to import your video on stage. Click 'Ctrl+Enter' to test your video. It should auto play and loop indefinitely.
Hope this answers your question.
Thanks,
Karthikeyan R.

  • Issues with basic video player. Help?

    Hi all, I've been working on making an extremely basic video player for my java class at school and everytime I run it I'm getting an error. I assume it's because of the video format. I've tried avi and mpg to no avail.

    Also, the page of supported formats would probably answer my question ( http://java.sun.com/products/java-media/jmf/2.1.1/formats.html ) except I don't know much about video formats and that table doesn't make much sense to me. Any help or a point in the right direction is awesome. Thanks!

    I have the same problem. I am new to JMF and I can not get an avi or a .mov to play. In fact, I can't find any movie file that actually does work. I am trying VERY simple code just to get this to work. Baby steps:

              player.realize();
              java.awt.Component mediaViewer = player.getVisualComponent();ml is a MediaLocator from an url.

  • Basic iPhoto questions:

    I have some Basic iPhoto questions before I start using the program:
    - does iPhoto apply any compression or change images in any way when they
    are imported?
    - after images are imported, can the original source folder of images be deleted off of the mac?
    - can Quicktime files exported from iPhoto be viewed on a Windows computer?
    - can iPhoto handle large resolution images that might be as large as 8-15mb each? does it display them quick? are there any known file size issues?
    Thanks!!!!

    kat.
    Is there a way to use iPhoto on a network so other users can read and possibly write to an iPhoto library on a networked mac?
    iPhoto is a consumer level photo organiser, not a server. It's possible to share photos but libraries are very difficult and fraught with the danger of database corruption. Some have reported success.
    Is it possible to password protect or secure certain images in the library so they can not be seen by anyone?
    No. The best I can suggest there is to create a second library and store it in a secure area like a protected dmg. But remember, you can only have one library open at a time.
    After photos are deleted from iPhoto, are there any remaining traces or cached files anywhere other than the trash
    If you delete photos from iPhoto and empty the iPhoto trash then the pics are removed from the Finder as well. They remain as findable as any other deleted file from that point, which is, very, if the searcher in knowledgeable.

  • Object class deployment - Basic form question

    OK, I subclass calendar object from Oracle provided standard
    object class. What do I need to deploy to use this form now
    apart from calendar.pll and my fmx. What about the object class
    from which I sub-class. Do I need to compile and deploy that
    also? How will form resolve this on run time the parent object
    class as I really did not copy, just sub class and we do not
    deploy original class? Basic form question. Thanks.

    You can set the "help" property on the field (which gives you the little "information" icon link beside the field).
    You could also try adding another field of another class above or below:
    <Display class='InlineAlert'/>
    <Display class='ErrorMessage'/>
    <Display class='HtmlPage'/>
    ..etc

  • Intro Video Question...

    Hello. My first post....
    I'm trying to get DVD Studio Pro to play a video clip as a menu background and then transition to a new video background that will be the basis of the menu.
    The desired outcome is:
    Menu background clip plays > (transition) > New background clip plays and buttons appear.
    I can get everything to work, I'm just having a problem is that when the menu background clip gets to where it needs to transition, it back cues itself to the loop point, then plays the transition. The jump is quite jarring. DVDSP won't let me set the loop point to match the end of the video. Is there a way around this?
    Am I maybe approaching this wrong? Some info about the disc:
    I work for a very large stock video company and I'm working on a DVDSP template for our screeners where we can have a very basic video background that has changeable text on it (to match the screeners info). Video will play and then will go static. I want the user to be able to go back to a static menu. I'm having a hard time getting all the pieces together - I'm kind of new to DVDSP 4. Up until now I used iDVD and Encore (and DVDSP1). Any ideas and help would be greatly appreciated!

    Any references to a second background clip.... I meant goes to a static background.

  • Adding Date/Time Field + X Number of Days - Basic Calculation Question

    I am assuming this is a basic calculation question. New to Adobe LiveCycle Forms.
    I have a simple form containing a table. The table appears as such:
    Text
    Formatted as Date/Time Fields
    Header 3
    Monday
    user wil choose the beginning date (Date/Time) this is DateTimeField1
    Tuesday
    this should calculate DateTimeField1 + 1
    Wednesday
    this should calculate DateTimeField1 + 2
    Thursday
    this should calculate DateTimeField1 + 3
    Friday
    this should calculate DateTimeField1 + 4
    Saturday
    this should calculate DateTimeField1 + 5
    Sunday
    this should calculate DateTimeField1 + 6
    Calculations are performed after the date is chosen for Monday. My mind tells me the simple calculation of DateTimeField1 + 1 is not going to work (and in fact doesn't!) as it needs to change Monday to a number first. I saw on another thread the following:
    Num2Date(Date2Num(Date(DateTimeField1), "DD.MM.YYYY")+7, "DD.MM.YYYY")
    Thought this was going to get me close. No cigars though!
    Any quick help is greatly appreciated. And since I am new to this, details about what needs to be changed would be great too!
    Thanks

    Here an addition for you date field.
    This FormCalc script in the exit:Event will check it the selected date is on a monday.
    If not it will go the days back until the last monday.
    var Selection = Date2Num($.formattedValue, DateFmt(2))
    var WeekDay = Num2Date(Selection, "E")
    var NewDate
    if (WeekDay eq 1) then
              NewDate = Selection - 6
    elseif (WeekDay eq 3) then
              NewDate = Selection - 1
    elseif (WeekDay eq 4) then
              NewDate = Selection - 2
    elseif (WeekDay eq 5) then
              NewDate = Selection - 3
    elseif (WeekDay eq 6) then
              NewDate = Selection - 4
    elseif (WeekDay eq 7) then
              NewDate = Selection - 5
    else
              NewDate = Selection
    endif
    $ = Num2Date(NewDate, "EEE DD.MM.YYYY")
    Hope this helps, too.

  • Basic videos - how to

    I downloaded PS Elements 12 trial. Are there any basic videos that walk a novice from turning it on to how to edit photos? The nomenclature & videos available make an assumption one knows ho to use this. An example is trying to separate a family photo from the background behind them filled with others & objects. I'd like to take the family image & place it on a more suitable background for a Christmas greeting card

    Good morning Mr. Peru:
    I want to thank you once again for your quick response. I have tried following some of the tutorials; just not addressing what I am trying to accomplish. I would like to take advantage of them as this Photoshop Elements looks like a really great program. Unfortunately, all of the beginners’ tutorials cost money and they certainly appear to be well worth it. I am very surprised that Adobe itself does not offer a free online tutorial for novice beginners such as myself as it would certainly benefit them in terms of sales, etc.
    I have used every tool, tried my best, brushed out the background of the attached photo but just can’t get it to work. All I am trying to do is take this photo, separate the family shown in the photo & create a Christmas greeting for them – no luck doing so. There does not appear to be a “cut” capability after outlining the group to put them on a “blank” canvas or new color background. Anyway, just wanted to thank you & best wishes for a merry Christmas!

  • Keystroke to start up G5 at basic video resolution?

    Is there a way to start my stock 1.8 GHZ single G5 in basic video resolution (like, VGA?) by holding down some key at startup? I connected the G5 to a new 26" Dell LCD screen. Upon startup, the Dell said "can't display this video mode, change computer display input to 1360 X 768 @ 60Hz."
    The Dell worked with this computer before, I guess the G5 is still set to a sky high resolution (1600 pixel?) from another monitor. It's not easy to mess with the G5 now, it's walled around with gear, so I was hoping maybe I could simply hold some key at startup to boot it in VGA to make the Dell work?

    Press the Shift key at startup. If that doesn't work, no.

  • Basic video file

    Hi everyone,
    I've never used Premier Pro before but I need to create a very basic video file with a size of about 450 in width by about 250px in height. I have a jpg image and also a 30second mp3 sound, so I would just need to know how to create a new document, then how to insert the image and audio and how to save it as a video file. It will then be placed in flash professional.
    I wondered if someone could give me brief instructions on how to do this. As mentioned, I'm completely new to video making/editing.
    Really appreciate any assistance.

    Thanks for the reply,
    I managed to put something together. I imported my .psd file, as well as the audio file. I did run into a problem though. I have some text in my .psd file which is coloured red. After I exported the file to the .f4v file format, I placed it into flash professional and tested the video, but when I did this, the red text is very pixelated and blurry. If however, I go back to photoshop and change the colour of the text to white, I don't have this problem. I'm not sure why the colour of text in a placed .psd file would affect the rendering in the video.
    Do you know why this is happening or whether there's a workaround?

  • I am missing some basic video transitions that used to be there.

    I am missing some basic video transitions that used to be there.  Using Adobe Premier Pro CC 8.1, Caravan.  Update any time Creative Cloud prompts me to.
    Some third party transitions also are acting like I've never registered them, but it concerns me that video transitions that are native to Adobe Premier are missing.

    If you are on a mac look here Adobe Premiere Pro Help | New features summary
    to see transitions that are no longer there. Look for "deprecated video transitions" about two-thirds of the way down

  • Basic Exporting Question

    My main question is a very basic exporting question, but here is a super-condensed explanation of my big-picture goal for context:
    Large (~450 MB) aiff on CD --> trim w/ Quicktime --> small (~16 MB) MP3 in iTunes
    I would like to take an audio file (aiff) that is approximately 450 MB and export it from Quicktime and in doing so, reduce the file size and convert it to MP3. When I simply try to export it, it doesn't ask me about what size I want, nor does it give the option of MP3 formatting.
    I have figured out how to reach my goal, but it's a mess. After I make my trims in QT, I have to:
    1. select "share" instead of "export".
    2. It asks me what size I want and I select small.
    3. The file is then exported as a Quicktime movie into Mail and the size is reduced from 450 MB to about 20 MB.
    4. I then have to "right-click" on the attachment in the email that is created,
    5. save the attachment,
    6. discard the email,
    7. import the file into iTunes, and
    8. create an MP3 in iTunes to finally arrive at my goal.
    This seems like a ridiculously convoluted process to change a large aiff to a small MP3 and put it in iTunes. Any suggestions?

    Thanks. I guess the basic answer to my question is that it can't be done in one or two fell swoops. The problem is that it starts on a burned disc, and I need to make edits to it before it ends up in iTunes (to be eventually used in iWeb). I was hoping to avoid juggling back and forth between iTunes and QT. I either would have to send it back to QT to do the edits after -->iTunes-->mp3, or import the large file from the CD to QT, make the edits, save changes, import large file to iTunes, convert to mp3.

  • Basic Video Editing

    heya folks, im currently wanting to do a bit of basic video editing, some footage currently recorded to DVD, i just want to remove the beginning and end of the footage and re-record to a new dvd. I just wondered if there was any good freeware available to do this or if final cut was the only way?
    Thanks

  • Basic VT / Video Question

    I am upgrading my CM to v4.2 this month and looking to do a limited implemenation of some video. I have read the basics on VT Advantage solution and had some questions I can't seem to find the answers to:
    1. Besides the obvious desktop software and hardware (camera) installation, what additonal configuration changes do I need to make to CM/Unity/gateways to get video working in the environment?
    2. What kind of additional load is now placed on the network with video and what will this do to my current bandwidth configurations?

    Michael,
    First off you should check out the IP Video Telephony SRND if you are thinking about deploying video. Here is the link. (It's a 4.1 reference but should be 99% the same for 4.2).
    http://www.cisco.com/application/pdf/en/us/guest/netsol/ns268/c649/ccmigration_09186a00804ff6ba.pdf
    Somewhat brief answers to your questions.
    1. QoS for video on all network devices. The above guide discusses this but the Enterprise QoS SRND is the best reference. Switched only VT advantage isn't that hard. If you have WAN links then the LLQs should be configured independantly for video and voice(still only one llq though but this will ease admin and give the ability to police the video). Call Manager locations can be created to help enforce Call Admission Control of video calls. Provisioning the bandwidth is going to be one of the harder things to configure.
    ACLs will need to be adjusted for PC/Cam to Phone communication. The phone proxies the connection for the Camera and determines the camera via CDP (local on the phone switch) and then sets up a TCP connection traversing L2 vlans to L3 router and back. So if you have Phone acls they need to be adjusted. Again this is referenced in the above document.
    Regions for video types. You have a few options on video quality. This response will also answer 2. You can choose Cisco wideband, 7mps each direction for the highest quality and low amount of system overhead on the pc cpu. Of course this takes up a total 14mb for video. Should only be used on local lan. Then you have increments of h263. They range from 128 up to 1536. The higher the bandwidth the better the quality and more cpu on the local pc. You will need to use regions to set the desired video codecs and locations to enforce the bandwidth the codecs require.
    Lastly multipoint conferencing and other video endpoint integration. If you want conference with video you need to add MCUs. Currently (not sure on 4.2) CCM has a limitation on determining Video conference resources in an intelligent fashion. Essentially you need to have any video MCUs at the top of your MRGLs in CCM. This leaves the potential for Audio only conferences happening on very expensive video conference bridges. This calls for Device Pool and MRGL design changes for people who really only need multi-point video conferences.
    Read that SRND, great resource.

    Thanks

  • Video Filter - Basic 3D Question

    Oh great and wise ones,
    Basic 3D Filter question. Problem, whenever you have an image/video clip twisted along its axis via the Basic 3D filter, the corners/edges get cut off. Are there any filters/tricks to manipulating an object in 3D space? I'm not looking for anything fancy here, just the basics. Or should I assume this is what Motion is for?
    Thanks!
    lance

    Hi -
    Double click on the clip with the Basic 3D effect applied in the timeline.
    Click on the Filters tab in the viewer.
    At the bottom of the Basic 3D section you will see a control for Scale.
    Adjust the Scale control until the edges of your frame are not being cut off.
    If your frame is starting full frame and rotating, this means you might want to keyframe the Scale control so that it starts at 100% when the frame is flat to us, then becomes less as the frame rotates on edge, thereby keeping the edges of the frame visible.
    Hope this helps.

  • Mac pro video questions

    I'm thinking about getting one or more of the mac pro videos to supplement the logic manual in my attempt to get a better grasp of the program and its capabilities and am looking for some advice. Although I'm partially temped to just buy the whole bundle, adding $200 to the amount I'm spending on music gear in the next couple months (I'll be buying monitors and a firewire interface) is probably not a good idea, and there are some videos that I don't expect I'd use at all (at least not any time soon). Addionally, I am aware that a great deal can be learned through experimentation, but that a good course or reference guide will provide a much faster learning process for me, and teach me things I won't figure out on my own.
    Basically, I'm trying to decide whether to simply get the 101 video or the producer's bundle. Here's a basic overview of what I've used Logic for so far, and what I expect to do in the near future:
    -primarliy small projects--only a few minutes in length, no more than 12 tracks
    -exclusively Logic's plugin instruments and effects thus far, but intend to start using some live audio as well (though VIs will still make up the majority of the music)
    -I've started to work on a couple short student film projects, and plan to do more in the future--for right now, I'm content with scoring for smaller instrumentation while still developing compositional skills.
    My big question is about use of the environment and whether or not I should get the corresponding video. I know that this is an extremely useful tool, and yet with what I've been doing so far, I haven't needed to deal with it. Perhaps I'm missing things that I could be doing using it for, but so far I've found that everything I've needed can be found in the audio mixer. I'm sure that somewhere down the road I'll want to be familiar with the environment's functions, but I'm not certain that I need it now with my current setup. If someone could clarify some of the environments uses that would be beneficial to my current needs, that would be super. This may determine whether or not I go for the producer's bundle.
    I know the obvious answer is most likely "the bundles are worth the added expense," and would certainly agree, but I'm going into poor/in debt student mode soon, so I need to be careful. Thanks.

    I guess the main issue here is whether I should get them all now or get them gradually. Obviously, the general feeling here is that I should just go for it, and given the money I'd save all around by getting the main bundle, it makes sense. However, I feel that, for the projects I've been working on until now and will have in the near future, there are videos I could do without. And given my financial situation (aka I work at a video store and will soon have massive student debt), it might be best to wait on those.
    So I'm wondering how essential certain elements are to general versatility in using Logic, so I can decide whether or not I need them right away. For example, I'm planning on using the native instruments bundle for samples, so I'm not sure that I really need the EXS tutorial. And I've just realized that I do actually use the environment all the time, I just forgot that the audio mixer is technically part of it--so that tutorial would probably be very useful.
    Hypothetically, if I were to choose 1 or 2 tutorials (in addition to 101) to buy, and given the general overview of how I've been using Logic, which ones should they be?
