Basing Block on Stored Proc....

each,
am basing a block on a cursor in a packaged procedure. my question is i also want to return other details in other 'in out' parameters to be shown on the form.
Can this be done....
p_procname (inparam1 in number,
outparam1 in out varchar2,
refcursor in out cur_type);
block based on the refcursor but want to also display the details returned in outparam1....
cheers

dear Ebenezer,
Try passing it through an in parameter as a varchar2. in your
procedure you can use dbms_sql to build your query.

  • How to trigger a report based on a event/stored proc or sql dts completion

    Post Author: Crystaldev

    I want to run/trigger a crystal report based on file existence or based on a stored proc/sql dts/a value present in a sql table. The way I want to do is schedule a crystal report in crystal enterprise and then run the report based on a event like file existence or based on a sql dts completion or a value existence in a sql table. We are using crystal reports v10.
    I am not sure how we can do this, any help is appreciated. Thanks.

  • Item Type Based on PL/SQL stored proc causing errors

    I am getting the following error when I add this item type based on a pl/sql stored proc that generates html based on the stored proc... the stored proc returns find but the other porlets get Error Message in there headers and in the porlet content I get:
    Error: The listener returned the following Message: 503 Service Unavailable....
    I also get the same error if I click on a link that is generated from my stored proc for the entire page I get the error:
    Error: The listener returned the following Message: 503 Service Unavailable
    and get nothing else returned...

    Greetings
    I suggest you take a look at the following page and have a look on how to create portlets. Since the PL/SQL PDK allows you to create your own portlets inside the Oracle Database there should be no problem for creating the content inside a portlet the way you want it.

  • Dynamic sql and block based on a stored procedure

    Hi!
    I'm triying to generate a block based on a stored procedure. I want the stored procedure to execute a dynamic sql, but I'm having getting the error "PLS-00455 cursor 'AULOCASLATE' cannot be used in dynamic SQL OPEN statement".
    I have the following code:
    CREATE OR REPLACE package pkg_f0015 is
    type rClieInstSlate is record
    (clie_id CMS_CLIENTS.ID%type

    vSelect := vSelect || vAddCond;
    open auLocaSlate for vSelect;
    end if;
    end PRLocationSlateQry;
    end;
    I wonder if what I want is possible

    OK,
    Now it works. Previously we had the parameter p_guid declared as RAW, which obviously is not any good. :)

  • Non blocking stored proc call

    HI
    I have written a c application using OCI which can call stored proc. but that is using blocking call. Is it possible to call stored proc in non blocking mode? So that I can receive output in call back function. Actually stored proc take much time to execute can I associate some Subscription callback-function with my stored proc call. Any idea?
    Thanks
    Kamran

    If you want to do non-blocking calls in OCI, you just need to set the server handle (svrhp below) attribute:
    sb2 polling=1;
    OCIAttrSet((dvoid *)svrhp,
    (ub4)OCI_HTYPE_SERVER,
    (dvoid *)&polling,
    (ub4)0,
    (ub4)OCI_ATTR_NONBLOCKING_MODE,
    (OCIError *) errhp);
    And then you call you OCIExecute() as you would in blocking mode. The difference is that instead of blocking until the call is done on the server, it always returns immediately. So instead of calling it just once per statement and checking the return code, you must keep calling OCIExecute() until it does not equal OCI_STILL_EXECUTING. When the proc is done, the final call to OCIExecute() will then be OCI_SUCCESS, OCI_ERROR, whatever happened.

  • View link between view based on entity(table) and view based on stored proc

    I've created a view based on a stored procedure. I need to link this view to a view based on an entity which is based on a table.
    I can create the view without issue, but when I attempt to run the application module that contains the relationship I get this error:
    (oracle.jbo.InvalidOperException) JBO-26016: Cannot set user query to view "SalesentityModuleApiView2" because it is a destination in a view link
    One thing that may be notable about this is that this view started out based on a database view. I later overrode the select related methods using the example here:
    http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/html/B25947_01/bcadvvo008.htm
    Any ideas? I will gladly post some code if someone will let me know what might help diagnose this.

    Hi,
    I solved my problem with adding transient field, and changing the value of it (true | false) on set method of field that can be changed so I can get which row was updated. What exactly do you mean when you say not updateable, I'm using a vo with no entity, and I can add, remove rows, in fact I think it's a good solution because I don't want to write to database immediately.

  • Crystal crashes when add new parameters to a stored proc in a subreport

    This one has been driving me nuts so any help much appreciated...
    I have a stored procedure (Oracle 9i) that is used as the datasource for a subreport (needs to be in the subreport as I need to pass multi-value parameters to the proc - something I've done in numerous other procs/reports).  All of the parameters from the proc are linked to data/parameters on the main report.
    The report works fine at the moment.
    I need to add three new parameters to the proc with an If statement on each one to run various bits of code depending on what is passed in.  This is where the trouble starts.
    The proc works.
    If I create a main report based on the new proc, it works.
    If I create a subreport based on the proc and DON'T link it to the main report, it works.
    If I create a subreport based on the proc and DO link it to the main report, Crystal crashes with no explanation (just that painful error that apologies for the inconvenience).  It is not all the parameters that cause this problem - it's not even restricted to just the new parameters or even just to ones that are used in the IF statements.
    This is not the first proc to do this to me - just the first one where the new functionality was too critical to strip out for now.
    I have been trawling the net and trying all sorts of things for days so I am hoping someone out there has a suggestion!
    Versions: Oracle 9i, Crystal Reports 11.0.0.1994

    Hi Daniel,
    Starting from the basics, after you've inserted the subreport don't link it yet.  Edit the subreport and verify the database.  Once it's verified, try linking the reports and adding a parameter.
    Verify the linking you are using.  I've seen where the field from the main report was passing invalid or coruupted data and caused the subreport to die a horrifying death.
    Good luck,
    Brian

  • Best approach to return Large data ( 4K) from Stored Proc

    We have a stored proc (Oracle 8i) that:
    1) receives some parameters.
    2)performs computations which create a large block of data
    3) return this data to caller.
    compatible with both ASP (using MSDAORA.Oracle), and ColdFusion (using Oracle ODBC driver). This procedure is critical in terms of performance.
    I have written this procedure as having an OUT param which is a REF CURSOR to a record containing a LONG. In order to make this work, at the end of the procedure I have to store the working buffer (an internal LONG variable) into a temp table, and then open the cursor as a SELECT from the temp table.
    I have tried to open the cursor as a SELECT of the working buffer (from dual) but I get the error "ORA-01460: unimplemented or unreasonable conversion requested"
    I suspect this is taking too much time; any tips about the best approach here? is there a resource with REAL examples on returning large data?
    If I switch to CLOB, will it speed the process, be compatible with callers, etc ? all references to CLOB I saw use trivial examples.
    Thanks for any help,

  • JDBC receiver adapter with multiple stored procs error

    Hi all,

    but still i get the same error.
    Can anyone guide me what is wrong.

    Well,
      The problem was with the way date was passed to the stored procedure, i just needed to format the date to yyyy-mm-dd and the error was solved. The error given by the JDBC adapter was not correct. I tried using logSQLStatement additional parameter, but for stored procedures it does not give out the actual SQL statement being fired. I was able to find the error in log files found on WAS server in transaction AL11.
       So i suggest to everyone having issues with JDBC adapter, please do not trust the error given in runtime workbench, always crosscheck in the logs in AL11 at the following location in your XI box
    DIR_INSTANCE\J2EE\CLUSTER\SERVER0\log. Here find date and time when you triggered your scenario and search for your table name or stored proc name, the java dump will give you a good information.
      I am giving points to everyone anyways.
    Thanks

  • Writing a Stored Proc which will execute the Queries passed to it as args

    Hi,
    I need to write a Stored Proc which gets the Query to be executed as an Argument and return the results in an OUT Variable.

    As the Queries paased to it always return CLOB Types i declared the OUT Variable as CLOB

  • Back Order Stored Proc

    Hi Guys
    i have created this backorder stored proc that blocks all orders that will take the item into negative, ie selling more than actually available, it works 99% well, issue is i dont know where and why the stored proc still allows certain unknown scenarios to go through. i think i might have to amend it slightly and add " where t0.onhand - t1.quantity < 0", this could block all orders that will make the onhand negative. and yes this is only sold from one warehouse. Thanks
    if( @object_type = '17' and(@transaction_type = 'A' or @transaction_type = 'U'))
    begin
    set @backorder = (select top(1) T0.itemcode from rdr1 T0 inner join oitw T1 on T0.WhsCode = T1.WhsCode where
    (T0.Quantity >= T1.OnHand) and T0.itemcode = T1.itemcode and T0.docentry = @list_of_cols_val_tab_del )
    if(@backorder is not null)
    begin
    set @error = 1
    set @error_message = N'Item '@backorder' exceeds available quantity'
    end
    end

    Sorted, had to add in "iscommited" into calculation

  • Clearing Oracle Parameters to call diferent stored procs

    Sub Main
    Do While i < 3
    make_excel(i)
    i = i + 1
    Loop
    end Sub
    Sub make_excel(ByVal array As Integer)
    objCmd.Parameters.Add(New OracleParameter("p_cursor", OracleType.Cursor)).Direction = ParameterDirection.Output
    end Sub
    objCmd.Parameters.Clear()
    objCmd.Parameters.Remove("p_cursor")

    I agree with you. I was looking into mod_plsql, but it turns out that their development standards include not using Oracle HTTP server. The whole reason why they want to be able to execute a stored proc based on what is specified in an XML doc is that they want to avoid having to change their middle-tier configurations anytime a new stored proc or a change in stored proc parameters is made. I'm not familiar with what all is involved with .NET and the middle-tier, but supposedly this way, they can specify any stored procedure name and its parameters in an XML file. The XML is then suppose to be passed on to an Oracle stored procedure which will parse the XML and dynamically execute the stored procedure that was specified in the XML.
    Here is an example of the XML:
    '<Root>
      <PackageName>TEST_PKG</PackageName>
      <ProcedureName>TEST_PROC</ProcedureName>
        <Parameters>
        <Parameter>
            <Name>EmpID</Name>
            <Value>12345</Value>
        </Parameter>
        <Parameter>
            <Name>Org</Name>
            <Value>ABC</Value>
        </Parameter>
        </Parameters>
    </Root>I basically need to parse out the pkg/proc names:
      SELECT t.COLUMN_VALUE.extract('//PackageName/text()').getstringval() PkgName,
             t.COLUMN_VALUE.extract('//ProcedureName/text()').getstringval() ProcName
         INTO v_pkg_name, v_proc_name
         FROM TABLE(xmlsequence(XMLTYPE(v_XML_input) .extract('/Root'))) t;...and then execute the procedure:
        EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'BEGIN '||v_pkg_name||'.'||v_proc_name||'(:a, :b, :c); END;'
          using in v_in_param1, v_in_param2, out v_XML_output;The problem is that this approach is very complicated since there can be any number of IN/OUT parameters and of various datatypes. I would have to create all kinds of possible bind variables!

  • SQL Server Stored Proc/Database Permissions

    First of all, I'm not sure that I'm posting this in the correct place.  I'm a Windows/Active Directory Engineer, looking for some guidance on how other companies are managing/maintaining what I'm about to describe.
    We have a rather complex SQL Server environment with multiple two node clusters running multiple databases on each.  On their own, rather simple.  On each database there are different stored procedures that are being accessed by different service
    accounts for different (mainly) web services.
    Up until recently, we were running into issues deploying proper accounts and groups for this process.  We've got a multi-domain environment with trusts between them.  We follow IGDLA (AGDLP) to grant permissions... That is..
    Account -------- Global Group --------- Domain Local Group
    WebSvcAcct --- WebSvcAcct_Group ------ MyService_Group
    The Global group is granted the permissions cross-domain, following AD Group Scoping.  We currently track this, per service, in a Database access Spreadsheet, where we list the following in each successive column:
    Service, Account, Global Group, Domain Local, Database Server, Database Name, Database Role, Stored Procs
    Is there a tool/utility that can maintain this and allow Role-Based Access to it?  How do other companies maintain database permissions?
    Thanks in advance!!

    Hello,
    Are you asking if there is something that can maintain your list or something that can help you with security?
    Most companies use groups, much like you have there and either give access to the group or use it in combination with database roles. This simplifies many different aspects of reporting and auditing.
    If you're asking about a utility, I don't know of any specifically for this but it shouldn't be too hard to make a powershell utility script to do this for you, interrogating AD, SQL, etc.

  • Stored proc to accept parameters at prompt

    How do you create a stored proc in SQL so that when run in desk you can input parameters?
    I have a simple stored proc but when I create in deski always get an error saying that it expects '@DateStart'.
    here is the sproc ive used:
    CREATE  Procedure [dbo].[sp_redempt](@DateStart Datetime,@DateEnd Datetime)  AS  SELECT *
    FROM redempt
    WHERE planners.office = 'abc'
    AND ProcessDate >= @DateStart and ProcessDate <= @DateEnd
    -- running it in SQL ent mgr
    exec dbo.sp_NCLredempt '01 february 2011', '28 february 2011';
    can you help with the syntax I use or specify a simple stored proc using the adventure works DB that will prompt for a parameter in deski?
    BO Edge XI 3.0
    App server: MS Win2003 Server Standard SP2
    DB server: MS Win2003 Server Standard SP2
    DB on DB server: SQL 2005

    Hi,
    this is not the best place to post this but you may try the SQL Server forums from Microsoft.
    Might  be an issue in your parameter type definition. What you can do is in
    SQL Server Management Studio, go to the stored procedures (programability) under AdventureWorks database, and Right click -> Script Stored Procedure As -> CREATE to -> New Query Editor Window. Then there you will able to see the syntax how it's used.
    You can run one sample procedure in Deski. In Designer create a secure connection to AdventureWorks database. Then create a Deski report based on the "uspGetManagerEmployees" procedure and you can use MnagerID  6 when you run it. You will get results.

    I run a deski report on iit - using it as a datasource. This works fine in Desktop Intelligence until I schedule the report from infoview - then I get the following error...
    "Object failed to run due to an error while processing on the Job Server"
    My other deski reports based on Universes are ok.
    create or replace procedure test_PROC1
    (Test_Rpt_Cur OUT SYS_REFCURSOR)
    is
    begin
    open Test_Rpt_Cur FOR
    SELECT ID, FIRSTNAME, LASTNAME
    FROM test_table;
    end test_proc1;

    Hi,
    Cause of this issue :
    Once the Job Server recieves the scheduled job and spawns a new child process, the child process is unable to complete the job. The child process constantly is waiting to load the job. Looking further into the log and specifically the startup script, the -port option was incorrectly used (-restart-port) and didn't allow the child process to bind to the correct port using the correct DNS name.
    In Order to resolve this issue follow the steps given below..
    1.Open CCM
    2. Stop Server
    3. Right Click Server and go to Properties
    4. insert -port option in to command line, example below
    ex. "
    win2k3\C$\ProgramFiles\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 11.5\win32_x86\JobServerFullClient.exe" -service -name win2k3.Desktop_IntelligenceJobServer  -ns win2k3 -objectType CrystalEnterprise.FullClient -lib pp_procFC  -jsTypeDescription "Desktop Intelligence Job Server" -maxDesktops 0 -restart -port win2k3.it.bo.example
    5. Save setting and restart server.
    Hope it helps.
    Regards,
    Sandeep Singh
