Batch Export drops my Smoothcam clips!

I have successfully added Smoothcam to a large batch of Apple Pro Res 422 HQ clips and rendered the entire timeline. I then highlight all the clips, place them in a bin in my browser, highlight and batch export them as XDCAM 1080p24 35Mbs clips. The clips all export properly with all other effects and color corrections intact. But when I open the individual clips in Quicktime Pro, the smoothcam effect is gone. Does anyone know why this is happening and if there is a good workaround? Thanks.

You'll need to bake the smoothcam in a sequence which matches the export you intend. Then export the sequence as QT movie... Reason is that the smoothcam render is it's own thing and not like a "normal" render file. It creates a special file even.. so figure you need to "bake it" then export it.

  • How do i change the size of a clip using batch export?

hi, when i try and do a batch export to change my clips from a DV PAL to PhotoJpeg 320*240 sized clips the "options" button is greyed out. so all i have as export settings are the QT presets in a pulldown list. is there any way i can create my own setting? (and the also save that?)
    thx

    what i'm seeing is that
    a) selecting all files in Media Man. gives me the option to size and set codecs but not the audio off.
    b) selecting all files in Batch Export allows me to pick a format (QT, aiff etc) choose a preset (photoJpeg included) select whether to include audio and video or both but not set the size or customize the QT settings
    c) selecting all clips then "file>export>using QT conversion" gives me all options, but seem to grab only the first clip.

  • Batch export of individual clips?  Premiere timeline to Media Encoder??

I have a bunch of clips on a CS6 timeline.
I want to batch encode them out.
I'm trying to figure out how to take those clips to Media Encoder so I can batch export them out all at once.
I've heard I can pull them all into a folder in CS6 and then batch export them out of that folder - though I can't seem to drag the clips en masse from the timeline to the folder (as I can in FCP7) - Premiere seems to only allow one clip to be dragged at a time.  Very tedious.  And the suggestion I read on the Forum doesn't quite match MY Premiere CS6 (the menu items are not the same).
Any suggestions would be most appreciated...

    Hi joe bloe,
It is similar.  And then my question is: how do I get all the clips on the timeline into a bin in one drag and drop (not one at a time)?  And once it's in the bin, what are the menu steps to batch export?
I have a vague memory of using the Media Encoder to batch out some clips several days ago - but can't remember if they came directly from a Premiere timeline...
Apologies.  I'm in the middle of a complicated job, with three different type cameras going, two of which I haven't used before, and thus my brain is a bit fried for searching through manuals.

  • Batch export of iMovie clips

I'm looking for a means of simplifying the workflow of creating individual quicktime files of the "events" in my home videos. I'm currently using iMovie to capture and edit the video into a series of "events" (e.g., soccer game, birthday party,...), set off by the iDVD Chapter markers. At this stage in the workflow I would like to run a batch process that would do an export of each such chapter into its own quicktime file. I have not been able to find an iMovie plug-in that can do this. Nor have I found another program (e.g., handbrake, JES deinterlacer) than can "read" the iMovie .mov file (hiding in the Package) and interpret the Chapter markers appropriately... Any suggestions? Perhaps I should use another program (Final Cut Express?) instead of iMovie?

  • Smoothcam clips jittery on DVD export setting

I just exported an M2V and AAC file for DVD and when I brought them into DVD SP and previewed the video, I could see the jitter on the smoothcam clips. Of course this was much more apparent playing it back on DVD after it was burned. Any ideas? I have about 100 stabilized shots so I'd rather not bake them all, but I will if I have to.
    Thanks!

Ignore the "dropped frames" issue that you are seeing during playback. The data rate exceeds your machine's playback capabilities but a burned DVD will be MPEG-2 format and will play without isues.

  • Batch export to network drive fails on large clips

SO I have dozens of clips to batch export in full quality uncoompressed format. THey come out anywhere from 1-10 gigs per file.
When I export to a desktop drive everything works great, when I do the same batch export to a network attached storage drive I have all the larger files failing on me.
Has enyone experienced this before and can you help?
    Desktop drive works
Network drive works on smaller file sizes.
    G5 Quad, G5 Dual, G4 PB   Mac OS X (10.4)

ah yes, known but ignored issue no. 456282
files over 2 gigs will not transfer over network when transfer is initiated via FCP, either by export, media manager, or any other process.
doesn't matter if target drive is mac format or otherwise, it doesnt work.
doesn't help, but at least you know its not something you did or didn't do.

  • Batch Exporting  Color Corrected Clips, QT issues

    Hello,
I work for a small ad company with a couple guys on the road shooting video, a video editor(me) and a few graphic designers. For company workflow reasons I take video footage from guys on the road and export to Quicktime movies(5-50 per client, 5-10 sec. apiece) and give to graphic designers, they then use After Effects and Motion to lay graphics on and lay out vid for ad.
    1. I generally capture the whole tape.
    2. I select Ins/Outs from that tape and make (lets say) 50 clips in timeline.
    3. I make all clips independant and rename in order 1-50
    4. (THIS IS WHERE PROBLEM STEMS) I color correct all clips using 3 wheel color corrector
    5. I pull all 50 clips (numbered, color corrected) into a client bin
    6. Right Clip bin, Batch export.
    7. Check Use In/ Out , Make Self Contained, Prefix .Mov, Quicktime movie using MPEG 4compressor, best quality, and set destination.
    8. Hit Export
The result is a Quicktime Movie that has sound but is frozen on first frame of video.
Normally this process works perfect and I have no issues with QT. Step 4 is something that I would like to incorporate but everytime I try I get the issues with Quicktime.
Thanks ahead of time for help, hope I gave someone enough to go off of.
    I.V.

If you drag the clips from the timeline to a bin and select them all and choose batch export and set the option to export in to out, it should work.  Not sure about the naming option, but I suspect it'll work.  Do a test first.

  • Batch export of multiple clips from one video in Premiere CS4

    Hello,
I'm really in a bind and hope you guys can help me out. I have about 30 hours of video in about 30 mpg files..1 hour in each video. I need to splice out small clips from each video..anywhere from 10 to 20 clips in each and send them to Media Encoder to store as video files I can then re-use. In CS3 I can do this manually one clip at a time ..set In point, Out point and then export. This however takes a very very long time....set the ins/outs, then export, then wait, then repeat..very tedious
In CS4 can i set multiple ins/outs for the entire video and then have premiere go to work and do a batch export? Or is there another way of doing this? I have about a week left to get this done and at a total of about 450 clips to export each 2-5 mins for encoding this will take forever...plase help!
    Stan

It wont do exazctly what you want but.... But the batch encoding should save you some time since you can continue to work while it encodes/exports.
Do you need to make more than one output type? Like DV, WMV, FLV... for each one? If so, I suggest this workflow:
    1. Open source file 1 in Source monitor set in and out, ctrl drag subclip to a folder in the project panel.
    2. Repeat step 1 for any other subclips needed from source clip 1
    3. When done with first source clip go into bin where you put your subclips click on them one at a time and do export/media to your lowest compressed need (like DV AVI for example); it will be added to AME queue
    4. Repeat step 3 for all subclips, then click start queue.
    5. While AME is exporting all the subclips for your first source clip, repeat steps 1-3 on source clip 2...
When you are all done; if you need to make multiple output types for each file; Do (IN AME) File>New>Watch Folder
Create a Watch folder for each output type you want. Then simply copy all the exported clips you want inot each of these folders and AME will process them all for you in batch.
It doesnt do exactly what you wished for; but should save you a few buckets of time.

  • Export clips from a sequence seperately with effects as a batch export in CS 5.5

    Hi there,
I'd like to know if there is any possibility to export all clips from a sequence/timeline seperately with all applied effects as a batch export or similar in CS 5.5.
I know there is a chance to do that via the project manager, but a far as I know this way doesn't include the applied effects on each clip.
Thanks for your help in advance...
    Marc.

The only way to export a single clip with effects is to manually set up each individual export.  This applies to all version of PP.

  • Batch Exports of clips as separate files

I've seen a lot of complaints about the "inability" of Premiere Pro to batch-export clips under their own names. There's a current thread over on the SpeedGrade forum concerning this, from someone wanting to do dailie's but exported not as a timeline but specific separate clips with their original clip names. This is a mistaken impression.
PrPro CAN batch export clips, but not a timeline into separate clips. That's the hangup, we've all tended to look at the timeline export box.
    1) In the Project Panel, click once on any clip you want to batch-export, using the "standard" selection clicking process ... hold "shift" while clicking a second clip will select the original, that clip, and everything in between; clicking on a clip, then holding ctrl/cmd and clicking on additional clips will add just the clips you click on.
    2) Right-click on any of the selected clips, and at the bottom of the dialog box, select "Export Media".
This takes you to PrPro's standard export box, where you can do things like (under the Effects tab) apply a "look" or a LUT of your choice to the batch (handy to standardize the look of a project) before adding to the Queue, which then takes you to Media Encoder for your export operation.
Slick enough, actually. Not quite as easy as say choosing simply a sequence, BUT ... at least, doable. Might be easier on long projects to put clips on each sequence say into a bin for that sequence. Cleaner, also.

  • Batch Exporting Clips from timeline in Final Cut Pro X

So ive looked at many forums and many sources and I know this isn't the first time this question has been asked.....but I was
wondering how I would be able to batch export clips from the timeline (about 100 or so) to use as Content for VJing (live media manipulation). Is there a simple way to acomplish this in Final Cut Pro X... I have heard remours that you can cut multiple clips in Quicktime Pro 7 but im not sure how eficiant this is, I also have heard that this is allot easier to acomplish in Final Cut Pro 7. If anybody knows a simple (and quick way) to acomplish this Im all ears!

If you want to batch export parts of your project, I believe that you'd better served by an external utility, like QTCoffee. Export your movie to Quicktime, and then use QTCoffee to create the various bits in one, er... batch.

  • Smoothcamed clip looks good in canvas, terrible when exported

Hi. I'm working on a choppy shot taken on a boat. After applying the smoothcam filter, the shot looks much better, but ONLY in Final Cut's Canvas. When exported and played in any other program, it looks worse, jittery and streaky, like there is a translucent second layer over the original that is a few seconds off.
Curiously, the smoothcamed clip also looks bad when played FULL SCREEN in Final Cut using the 'digital cinema desktop preview' function.
The only time it looks good is in final cut's canvas (but not full screen).
Anyone know why this is happening and how to get the results I'm seeing in the canvas for output?
The temp work around I've devised is to play the clip in a large canvas and to capture with a desktop video capturing program. The clip is smooth but we're losing too much resolution.
FYI: no luck smoothcaming in motion, which zooms in too far.
    Thanks in advance for help.

The Canvas is only showing you some of the pixels, smoothing out what it cannot show in full rez. You're also seeing a reduced frame rate sort of, it's progressive and your footage is probably interlaced. Smoothing attempts to do huge pixel-level manipulations and the results can be terrible and sometimes liquidy, as you have seen. Aren't there settings you can adjust down? Sorry, not at my FCP machine this morning to check that for you.
Try hitting a few of the Motion training sites to see if ayone has something to say about smoothing.
In Motion, you can switch off the automatic zooming feture that attempts to hide the edges bt you're going to be forced to deal with the visible edges somehow.

  • No Method of Batch Export for Clips with Alpha Channels?

    Good morning,
As many a flustered editor has eventually discovered, in order for FCP to export sequences with alpha channels to a 32-bit format, the timeline has to be un-rendered at the time of export, or else the transparent parts will appear black in the outputted file. This sort-of makes sense if you know how FCP and render files work, but in a perfect world I think I'd have designed the export interface a bit differently. Now that I think about it, I'm actually working in an Animation (Millions of Colors +) sequence, so converting transparent areas to black makes no logical sense at all.
Anyway, I have several sequences that I would like to export as 32-bit TGA QuickTime files, preserving their transparency. If I Export Using Compressor, the process results in pre-rendering of the sequence, turning the transparent areas black. The same problem occurs if I export QuickTime reference movies from FCP and open them directly with Compressor.
Does anyone know of a way to avoid this silly phenomenon or am I stuck individually exporting each sequence from FCP, one...at.......a................time?
    Thanks,
    Zap

Thanks, Andy, "Batch Export" eventually did the trick!
I forgot about that tool because I've never actually had to use it before! After playing around with it for a while, I found that as long as the sequence settings for each sequence in the batch are set to a codec with an activated alpha channel, it works just fine.
    Thanks again,
    Zap

  • Batch Export Timeline Clips?

I have over 100 separate physician interviews in need of web export. I have created sequences (timelines) labeled Day1, Day2, etc... with 5-10 separate interviews on each timeline.
I am now needing to export these to a web capable format..
I have scoured the web for a solution to a batch export option, and so far, no luck..
I can't be asking too much from final cut, right?
    Specs:
    Final Cut Pro 6
    Canon 7d H264 (1080, 30fps)

Select the Sequences in the Browser and goto File>Batch Export
Select desired format etc for Export.
