Batch file to deactivate photoshop

Would there be poissible to have a batch file to deactivate (possibly activate) Photoshop on a machine?
Thank you!

You can start Photoshop.exe like any other application from a bat file.  You may need to know the its not already started first. You should be able to pass Photoshop a file to open and have an open document event setup in the script event manager and do something like deactivate when a particular deactivate file is open.  A script should be able to close down Photoshop but I know of no way to to tell Photoshop set a a return code that the starting bat file could test for. So the deactivating script would need to initiate the activation on the remote system perhaps through a socket connection to a waiting server on the remote machine.  There are at least three machines involved. Your two Photoshop machine and an Adobe Activation server.  Its a complex process to automate.  How would you handle thing like Adobe servers not responding or communication between your machines.

  • Batch file naming in Photoshop 6.0

I have tried every which way I can to rename photos I have scanned in using the Automate Batch process. I have used the batch to perform other tasks, but I am having no luck with renaming using the year, a 3 digit number (to keep the photos in order) and then the extension (Tiff). I downloaded the update which was supposed to take care of a problem they were having with the batch file naming problem, but I am still having no success. Please, any input will be appreciated.

  • I want to create a "batch file" that will copy files from one folder into another, overwriting what is currently in there.

I've got a game that has a folder with Saved Games (Okay, it's Minecraft). I don't always have my external drives because I take my Mac Mini from my house to my friend's house and of course back after we finish playing.
There are times where I want a back up so that if something happens we can restore it as easily as possible.
What I've been doing is copying the particular saved game and pasting it to my desktop, replacing the new backup over the old backup. I'd like to be able to create a "batch file" so that I can just double-click on it and it will copy and paste overwriting the old version.
Since this is being automated I've been thinking. It would be nice to have 10 backups which I would like to have numbered from 1 to 10 (and not 0 to 9).
I'd like the batch file to delete backup 10 then rename backup 9 to 10 and 8 to 9 and so forth until backup 1 becomes backup 2 and then my live copy then gets copied to my desktop. I guess that one really doesn't need a number after it. It can have the exact same name.
Don't worry about automating the restore. I just want the backup part of it automated. I'm not a UNIX guy but I've tried to figure it out and it is just not working. So ... if someone out there can reply with a solution for me that would be great.
Extra credit for automatically compressing the backups with the built in compression utility so my backups use less space.
    Thanks in advance.

I have another psd (adjustment_layer.psd) file that only has one layer, and it is an adjustment layer. .
That is possible. An adjustment layer must be over a layer. The layer that it is over can have its visibility off but there needs to at least two layers in your (adjustment_layer.psd) file.  For you can not have and adjustment layer without a layer to adjust.
Are all your PSD file the same in size  x px by y px at z DPI?
It would be easy to create an action just to add the adjustment layer you want if your (adjustment_layer.psd) file adjustment layer, layer mask is a reveal all or hide all mask. You can Batch the action or use the Image processor script and have it include your action that add the adjustment layer  you do not need to write a script.
I would also record that action to add the adjustment layer clipped to the layer below. There is a bug in CS4 and CS5 Action Player. Actions that have recorded adding adjustment layers to be applied to all layers below may play incorrectly.  You will have to pay to get a fix  for this bug for Adobe is not going to apply a fix the the current releases of Photoshop. The bug is so far slated to be fixed in CS6 time will tell.

  • Bridge CS6 Photoshop Batch tool to open Photoshop CC

I have both CS6 and CC installed
I'm having the issue in Bridge CS6 that when I want to do a batch function through Tool > Photoshop > Batch this opens Photoshop CS6 and not Photoshop CC which i'd prefer it open. Is there any way to set this.
The question of me will be why I don't use Bridge CC. Unfortunately I am locked into having to use InDesign CS6 for my work and use a shortcut to reveal images in Bridge (which will only reveal on Bridge CS6), hence why I'm then forced to use Bridge 6 over Bridge CC....
So I suppose if I worked out the indesign issue i twould be ok, but I have a feeling i'll have more luck with a solution for Bridge opening a version of photoshop than solving the indesign issue.
    Thanks.

Okay... but I'm using Bridge CC and when I use Tools> Photoshop > Batch it opens the files in Photoshop CS6.
How do I get Bridge CC to open images in Photoshop CC?
(Both versions of Photoshop are loaded on my computer.)

  • Batch processing photographs in Photoshop Elements 11

    Hi everyone,
I've been scanning in a lot of old photographs of late.  Many (probably all) of them would benefit from application of the "dust & scratches" filter, but it doesn't appear as an option in the "process multiple files" pull-down.  I've heard about "autohotkey" being used as an alternative mechanism for doing batch processing, but can't find an example online that works with Photoshop Elements 11.  Would anyone care to share any tips on how I could automatically process my scanned photographs in ways that "process multiple files" doesn't offer?
Thanks in advance for any assistance anyone can offer.
    Best regards,
    Andrew.

One way which i've been doing this is to use the Image Processor script from photoshop in pse 11.
(only works in pse 11 or possibly future versions of photoshop elements)
You can download the PSE 11 Image Processor.zip, extract the file (right click on the zip and press Extract All)
    https://workspaces.acrobat.com/?d=ZOP9CgDC38plXHju4uVLkQ
and then copy the Image Processor.jsx to:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 11\Presets\Scripts (64 bit version of windows 8)
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 11\Presets\Scripts (32 bit version of windows 8)
Start or restart pse11 and in the Expert mode it should be listed under File>Automation Tools>Image Processor
(an image doesn't have to be open to run the script)
Then we just need to know if you want the Dust and Scratches to use the same settings all the time or you want to be able to adjust the filter between photos.
(so we could send you the action to use with the image processor)
The image processor is similar to process mutiple fles except you can choose to run action that you have loaded in Window>Actions on the processed photos.

  • Copy CS5 batch files to CS6

    Hi:
Am in the process of upgrading from CS5 Design Standard to CS6 DS. I had no problem copying my custom InDesign workspaces from the earlier version to the new version.
What I'm having a hard time with, is how can I get the batch files I use in Photoshop CS5 to copy over to the current version? I distinctly remember doing this when I moved from CS4 to CS5, but for the life of me, I can't remember how I did it, and I've been looking all over the Internet with no success.
I'm on OS 10.6.8 (I know it's old, but everything works beautifully, and I'm not gonna move to ML until I absolutely have to…)
Thanks much for any insight you can give me.

You save actions by using the flyout menu in the top right corner of the actions palette. That's the only way to migrate them safely from version to version.

  • Open 100 files in one photoshop file

    Hi,
I need to open 100 files in one Photoshop file.
I would like to have those 100 files on a different layer.
Is there a way to do this faster than opening each of them and copying them one by one in a file?
    thanks

    Hi Dedinne.
A simple action should do it. It is run as a batch on your source images.
    1. Select All.
    2. Copy.
    3. Close
    4. Paste.
The target image is created and left open before the action is run on the source images.
    Batch opens the source image.
    1. & 2. Copy the source image.
    3. Closes the source image.
    4. Pastes into the target image, which remains open during the process receiving each image in turn.
    FWIW.
    Peace,

  • How to deactivate Photoshop CS4 as the default browser for image

I wanted to deactivate Photoshop CS4 as the default browser for image. Now everytime when i want to open BMP(bitmap) file it always use photoshop CS4 to open the file. It takes a longer time to load the bitmap picture when using photoshop CS4 to open.
    Can anybody help!
    thank you

Mylenium is implying just that.  There's a checkbox that reads something like [ ] Always Use This Program to Open This File Type.
I do know that in Photoshop CS5 in Bridge there's a preference dialog that allows you to set file associations as well...  I'm not where I can test CS4 at the moment.  There may be such a dialog also in Bridge CS4.  Open Bridge, choose Edit - Preferences - File Associations if that subcategory exists, then find your file type and change the association.
Yet a third possibility is that if you have a viewer program like IrfanView that you'd like to associate with the file type, then the viewer program likely offers a menu through which you can indicate you want that program assocated with particular file type(s).  I have instructed IrfanView to make itself the viewer for all Image types, and that works well.

  • Automation Batch Files

I just upgraded from CS5 to CS5 Extended version.  I had previously written a lot of actions for automating batch files and I would really like to avoid having to start over and recreate them all.
Are the actions I created stored in a folder someplace that I can simply move to the new CS5 Extended location and be recognized??
    thanks

Yes.  However you should save them to one of your folders. For if you do not and your Photoshop preferences get reset you will loose all the actions you recorded. When you record an action they are recorded into your Photoshop perefences in a file named "Actions Palette.psp" however they are not safe for this file will be replaced with Adobe's defaults if your Photoshop Preferences are reset. You should always save Acrtions you record.  Highlite the Action Set your action is in and use the Actoins Palette fly-out menu and select save action.

  • Batch file to "Disable" un-used plug-ins etc.

    Hi Folks!!
I've got into the habit (from the good old, small PC, WinXP days) of disabling with the pre-fix ~ (tilde) method, all the presets and plug-ins that I never use as soon as I install Photoshop.
Doing it manually in those days was not too much of a hardship as maybe, at worst twice a year.
Now that I've upgraded(?) to Win7, I must have done a "clean" system re-install at least once a month, the manual method is getting a bit tedious.
I'd like to have batch script(s) to automate/semi-automate the process so that I could open a command prompt at the root (C:\) and tell it to go to the swatches folder and prefix A, C, and D leaving B, E, and F untouched, then move on to the brushes folder, patterns folder, plug-ins folder etc. etc..
I've got a list of my usual "suspects", I've tried to write one myself (with no knowledge of what I'm doing) and so far I've managed to (luckily, but not repeated!!) get the first one on the list renamed followed by 50 or so "The *** path is not recognised/ The *** path is not a correct command/ The syntax is incorrect/ That's not your dog on your path" etc. etc.
Is this at all possible? I'd settle for several batch files, one for each folder, that I could just type their names in whilst looking at my pretty desktop instead of traipsing through the system folders, if that's what it takes.

  • Deactivate Photoshop Standard to upgrade to Extended

If you are having trouble getting Photoshop to upgrade from Standard to Extended (my case was going from Design Standard to Design Premium), try to deactivate the Photoshop under the Help button. (If it is grayed out, go to File and New and start a blank file, then Deactivate should be black). Mine specifically said it would deactivate Design Standard, which was what I was after. Once it closed and I launched Photoshop again, it was the Extended version. Oh happy day. I must give credit to David Artz for his post from November for the fix. Thank you David.

Yes, $199 for the regular Photoshop CS6 version, $399 for Extended from CS5 standard.
A full copy, without the upgrade, is $999 for Photoshop Extended.
So the upgrade already gives you a $600 discount.
Just pay like we all did, or sign up for the subscription mode, $9.99 per month for both the latest version of Photoshop  Extended and Lightroom thrown in.  With a subscription, you'll never own the software.  When your monthly payments stop, the software ceases to work.

  • Restore Prefs files with batch file CS5

I'm running PS CS5 under Windows XP and ran into a "Refine Edge" problem where I couldn't get a functioning cursor. Checking around I came up with the solution of deleting & resetting my prefs file, which solved the problem. However restoring my prefs was time consuming and I thought there should be a better way where I could keep a backup prefs file & perform the restore with a batch file.  So if anyone is interested here is the procedure and sample batch file I set up.
First in Win XP the prefs file(s) are buried in:
    C:\ Documents and Settings\User Name\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5\Adobe Photoshop CS5 Settings\
and there were three prefs files that were affected when I deleted with the startup Ctrl/Alt/Shift procedure.
    They were:
    Adobe Photoshop CS5 Prefs.psp
    Palette.psp
    Color Settings.csf
I made copies of each with an extension of .org (to signify original) - so there were three duplicate files in the directory.  There would be my backup files and are named:
    Adobe Photoshop CS5 Prefs.org
    Palette.org
    Color Settings.org
Then I created a batch file named RestorePrefs.bat in the same directory as follows:
    Copy C:\Documents" "and" "Settings\User" "Name\Application" "Data\Adobe\Adobe" "Photoshop" "CS5\Adobe" "Photoshop" "CS5" "Settings\Adobe" "Photoshop" "CS5" "Prefs.org *.psp
    Copy C:\Documents" "and" "Settings\User" "Name\Application" "Data\Adobe\Adobe" "Photoshop" "CS5\Adobe" "Photoshop" "CS5" "Settings\Actions" "Palette.org *.psp
    Copy C:\Documents" "and" "Settings\User" "Name\Application" "Data\Adobe\Adobe" "Photoshop" "CS5\Adobe" "Photoshop" "CS5" "Settings\Color" "Settings.org *.csf
The batch file copies the org (backup) files to the prefs files.
Note There are no spaces in batch file. These are linked with quotes.
Then create an icon on the desktop that runs the batch file in the prefs directory.
To check if its working properly prior to and without changing the prefs files, edit the batch file from *.psp & *.csf to *.XXX - run it  - then check the directory for three new files with the XXX extension.  If running OK, delete the XXX files and change the batch file back as above & your set to go.
    Burt Stuttman

There are more files then the three that you noted that can can become corrupt in your user id Photoshop Preferences. Some preference files are not static some files are updated when you make changes to you Photoshop environment like edit action make brushes, patterns, define shapes  etc. Some preference files are updated every time you close down Photoshop.   I find it best to back up your whole user id Adobe Applications version Preference tree when the application is working well as a backup in case thing go sour.   Its really not a complex or time consuming process. It actually a very simple easy process you can do in windows file explorer right panel.
Step one make your backup.   Highlight the preference folder right click click copy.  Then right click and click on paste "Folder name Copy" is the name of the copy and is your Backup.
Should Photoshop mess up. Close Photoshop.  In file explorer do step 2 recover.
Step 2 Highlight the preference folder right click  click on rename add a suffix Rotten "Folder name Rotten".   Highlight the preference folder "Folder name Copy" rename to "Folder name"
Do step one create a new backup.
Start Photoshop If all is well and you do not need to recover newer thing from  "Folder name Rotten" delete  "Folder name Rotten" after a few daye.   and your more sure everything is A OK.

  • Running a java program via a batch file

I am unable to run a java program from a batch file that I created.
spiderpackage.EntryPoint is a class file which I am trying to run with a -v option to output something. What should I do to get the output?
    echo ^<html^>^<body^>

This has nothing to do with java programming. Have a look at the windows help for the call command.
The echo <html> stuff doesn't make sense. What's it for?
The command in you batch file should be:
    java -cp . spiderpackage.EntryPoint -v
assuming that java is in the system path, and the EntryPoint.class is in a directory called spiderpackage which is a subdirectory of your current working directory

  • Problem with file association in Photoshop

I am using Adobe Photoshop CS4, and I also have Adobe After Effects on my computer (which I don't use).  For some reason, when I click on a photograph in Adobe Bridge, the After Effects program opens, but the photo I want to open in Photoshop does not open.  I have reset the file associations in Photoshop, but Bridge ignores the settings and will only open After Effects.  How can I prevent this and return to having Photoshop open my photographs?
    Thank you for your help.

Might try posting in the Bridge forum.
If you're runign a Macinotsh, you an trash the bridge.plist but that's not always a good idea so don't do that till you know there's no better answer.

I see this sort of error notice in Bridge and Photoshop, preceded by the message " Photoshop (or Bridge) has encountered a problem and must close. Tell MS.
    Yes or No."
It most frequently happens in PS when running Dfine 2.0. I have no clue what triggers the Bridge closure. It happens randomly.
CS3, so nobody gives a tinkers dam, I suppose.
I see this kind of message in software testing on a regular basis. Of course, when the test is under way, the software is generating a detailed log file which we package up as part of a bug report. Then at the bug scrubs, lively discussions ensue as to who has to fix what!
I can only image what would happen if the Dfine people and the PS people had to sit through one of those!
