Battery drainage

Got Ipod Touch 32g. Been playing music for a little over an hour and the battery is half drained. Supposed to be 36 hours??? The screen is lit but I can't see how to have it auto shut off while playing, maybe that's the problem. I can't download the user manual for some reason to find an answer. Can someone help?

I think you might have a defective one because the battery should be able to last a whole lot longer. Turn off wifi, push data, set fetch data to manual, and turn off Nike Plus if it's on. If you as using more than just music it should still last longer than that. Also make sure your charger isnt messed up because I had one and it messed up m battery life. And turn off the screen when it's not in use by pressing the sleep/awake button. This should give you atleast 20 (or more) hours of battery life with just music. Of it doesn't then return it. BTW I have an iPod touch 2G myself.

  • How to resolve battery drainage for 3GS on iOS 5.0.1?

I just bought a iphone 3GS from eBay. The seller upgraded it to iOS 5.0.1. It is working except the battery will decrease 10% every hour with aiplane mode on and I am not using it at the time. I attempt to downgrade it from iOS 5.0.1 to 4.3.3 using some jailbreak methods but failed due to I do not have 4.3.3 SHSH blob.
I have a iphone 3G with iOS 4.2.1 (non jailbreak) which can hold a fully charge for a few days with airplane mode off.
I suspect it is the firmware iOS 5 and up that causing the speedy battery drainage. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks !
    Philip

    An update on this.
I traced the battery issue on having PUSH enabled for my old Exchange account.
Note I still have another exchange account + yahoo + icloud  + gmail all with Push enabled, and the battery is perfectly fine now.
So the whole issue seems related to a recurrent synchronization problem. However it is hard to diagnosis this when the only entry on the log remains the 2s recurrent phone-global message:
Client[com.apple.persistentconnection[dataaccessd,54]] is telling PDP context 0 to goactive.
I agree one must hide technical complexities in the name of user friendliness, but adequate (deep) error reporting remains important ... at least for those users that the technical know how and will to dig deeper.

  • Sudden Battery drainages on two independent iPhones simultaneously

    Hello,
During the last few days I've experienced episodes of fast battery drainage on two different iPhone4.
The battery drainage that has started occuring (at different paces / periods of the day) is markedly more rapid than compared to normal "heavy usage".
E.g. a nearly fully charged phone suddenly is "dead" in the morning.
This has started occurring on two different iPhone4s.
Thus I interpret the reason to be IOS 5.0.1 (built in apps or settings, iCloud or something else) or some other apps that cause this to be happening now.
The latest IOS software, iCloud and Exhange accounts are running as usual, but this has never been a problem before.
So I guess that it might be some minor setting feature, e.g. reminders settings, or some other iCloud connectivity / data-worksessions, GPS activity (hidden) that could be causing background drainage.
    I don't know.
Any suggestions on how to figure out. And please do not suggest that exchange sevices with push, iCloud ON etc. should be turned off - it has worked fine without battery drainage till now.
    Kind regards,
    Martin

Theoretically, any app that uses "push" technology (more and more will with OS3) may be causing the problem. Try disabling all "push" apps and see if it helps. I referred to Exchange Email, only because toggling push on and off impacted the problem absolutely.
Did a restore to "new phone" fix the problem? If so, you can try what I did which is to load each app directly to phone and see if it causes the failure to charge and heat.

  • Hot battery an battery drainage

i have the 3gs just bought it in may with the update came a hot battery an battery drainage. i dont have anything running in the back ground an i rarely use it now i cannot by any means use it to its full potential like i used to before the update. the battery life is very an i mean very unpredictable. one day after unplugging it from a full charge it went dead in 10 min. an i didnt use it at all. then somedays it lasts 3 hours some 5 some 8 but i cannot use it like i used to. i used to play games when ever i wanted play music an games at same time text an surf the net. now i can only text an that is if the phone is a good day.

Apple provides free telephone support for the first 90 days after the purchase date. After the initial 90 days, AppleCare will request a credit card in case it turns out the problem does not require an exchange under warranty. If it is determined that your iPhone needs to be exchanged under warranty, you will not be charged for the call. Or you can make an appointment at an Apple store if there is one nearby.
What is a master reset? I've never heard that term before.
The standard troubleshooting steps in order are power your iPhone off and on, an iPhone reset, restoring your iPhone with iTunes from your iPhone's backup, and restoring with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup.
If no change after the last step, more than likely your iPhone has a hardware problem.

  • Sudden battery drainage!

I'd like to know the suggestions of all of you regarding my iphone4 sudden battery drainage. My replaced iphone4 seems like it's working fine.
But the problem always appears whenever my iphone4 battery turns around 23%-25%. Whenever I press the sleep/wake button when the battery is at around 23-25%,the battery indicator changes suddenly from 25% to 20% (23% to 19%). It's draining about 5% at a time.I have no idea about that problem. I did restore my phone but no changes happen. My old iphone4 had that kind of problem but the area that the sudden drainage occured is around 60 or 62%.
Does someone experience like my phone problem?
    Any suggestion to fix?
    Thanks for your time! =)

It is low based on your usage levels... At least you do have a later OS version.
Depending on how you upgraded, it may be that something went wrong during the upgrade, so it may be worthwhile to reload the OS. You can do that using the steps here:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Device-software-for-BlackBerry/How-To-Reload-Your-Operating-S...
When restoring your data, just to be safe, choose to do a selective restore and just pick the things you need (e.g. Address Book, Calendar, Messages, etc). Like this, you'll be sure that you aren't transfering a potential problem back to your BB.
Try that and then let me know how that goes.

  • Problems with my new iPhone 5s : quick battery drainage & device getting too hot.

i just got a 64g Space Gray iPhone 5s yesterday and i noticed that the battery drainage was way too fast to be compatible with the longer battery life of iPhones. i have fully charged the battery three times in just 24hours even when i wasn't handling the phone much and i have tried to switch off any "applications" that might drain the battery. But then, why invest so much in a phone that you practically have to avoid using its functions??? The battery charge could suddenly jump from fully charged 100% to 93% in minutes then 65% in 45 - 60mins without doing any thing. It is so sad.
i also noticed that the body of the phone gets a little too hot for comfort, not the supposed warmth that might occur with use.
I don't know if i'm the only one experiencing this problem and i will appreciate your help as i bought this from a local store in my country and there is no APPLE STORE over here.
    Please Helpppppp!!!

Apple do not sell the iPhone in Nigeria ,you have an iPhone purchased in bulk from another Country
The warranty and ANY support for the iPhone from Apple will only be available in the country where the iPhone was purchased ,where ever that is ....................
Take it back to the  "local Store " it does not sound healthy
It may have been hacked to make it work in Nigeria with a local carrier

  • Battery drainage n iPhone getting hot while using video

    Battery-Drainage-heating-up-video-use/Facetime

    Hi mukk25,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I know it can be concerning when the temperature of the iPhone is warmer than you would expect. Please review the attached article for information on operating temperatures.
Keeping iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch within acceptable operating temperatures
When using the device or charging the battery, it is normal for it to get warm. The exterior of the device functions as a cooling surface that transfers heat from inside the device to the cooler air outside.
    Have a great day,

  • Is there any solution of the battery drainage problem of iphone 4s..??

Ive got an iphone 4s n im facing the battery issue...the battery lasts 2 days maximum with moderate use which is very less as i used an iphone 4 whose battery timing was 3 days with moderate use...any idea how to solve this problem...? thankyou...

    Hello,
I am by no means endorsing any app, but after a lot of searching on the internet looking for solutions. I came across an apple app pkiller, check it out, i just got it today. It kills app that are running in the background, but not the ones that are in stasis ( double click home button, e.g suspended apps). I wish this helps
Right now my phone is on standby mode
not  on wifi at the moment
    no notifications
    no push notifications
    Location services off
Wanted to see if this app really works so far im at:
    1 hr 32 min standby
    2 mins use
    still at 100% =)

  • How to correct battery drainage problem after upgrade to mountain lion

My macbook pro battery drains very fast, just used 3% as I am entering this question. This rapid battery drain started after upgrade to mountain lion. Any advice?

This appears to be a problem that's affecting a number of users and has been widely reported. My guess is you're going to have to wait till they do a software update.
There's general tips for conserving battery power on my page here that might ameliorate matters in the meantime:

Be sure to report the problem to Apple directly here:

  • Battery Drainage During Sleep

I saw a few posts on this issue but haven't seen anything in a while. My battery drains too quickly during sleep mode. Has apple addressed this yet. If not has anyone found a fix for it. It's really the only thing that has bugged me about this new laptop.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Cheers

    No official fix for now.
You have to manage the sleep yourself! If it's a short sleep, just close the lid as usual and forget your 2% comsumption. If it's a long sleep (a hibernation), use something like deepsleep (http://deepsleep.free.fr/) and be patient during the wake up.
Yet a little effort and apple will be as worst as linux to manage power...

  • Source for battery drainage: serious bug discovered

    Dear all,
Can you all try the following? I have found a very strange bug draining my MBP's battery significantly.
    - Make sure you have not started Apple Mail during your current session; restart your Mac in case you have started it any time after your last reboot.
    - Make sure no bakground processes are running which could eat up CPU cycles.
    - Download and run CoreDuoTemp (0.8) and have a look at the CPU usage in idle state (usually < 3%).
    - Disconnect your AC charger and have a look at the time left for running on battery (mine is about 2h30, battery close to fully recharged)
    - Now start Apple Mail and have a look at the CPU usage in CoreDuoTemp. It immediately goes up to above 50% and stays there, even if Mail is quitted immediately. The CPU usage will never drop below 50% unless you restart. Processor temperature equally rises to 79°C and above, while being <65°C before.
    - Strange thing is: Activity monitor does not report any significant processor usage (< 5%), thus contradicting what CoreDuoTemp says.
    - You'd suspect a bug in CoreDuoTemp -- which on itself is not unlikely, given that it's relying on very new and experimental (kernel?) drivers. However, have a look at the time left with your battery: mine dropped immediately back to 1h30 (1h less than a couple of seconds ago), only due to starting Mail.
Huh? What is going on? What does CoreDuoTemp detect that Activity Monitor cannot see? I suspect CoreDuoTemp being correct, because the battery time left indication also dropped significantly (indicating that something is eating the CPU).
Could this explain why some people indicate terrible battery lengths of 2h and less? I know not all people use Apple Mail, so this might explain it...
Please note that I have installed all updates, except for the Keyboard update (because this would result in the Mirror widget trick not working anymore).<br>
    MBP 2.0 / 2 Gb   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Yes I did. I've got menumeters running as well. No inconsistencies.
Btw, that speedit kext CoreDuoTemp uses has got nothing to do with CPU-load reporting. It only reads the Core Duo's thermal sensor. I always assumed Activity Monitor, CoreDuoTemp, MenuMeters etc. get their CPU-load information from the same source top gets it.
When you say top behaves the same, you mean that CoreDuoTemp reports significant CPU usage, and top doesn't? To see all running processes you have to run the terminal window full screen. Total CPU usage (well, idle) is reported in the top right corner. Forgive me if you already know all this, but it sounds a little strange to me. You should be able to see any and all processes in top.

  • OS4 multitasking and battery drainage

I have seen some discussion of this, but it is pretty basic as changes go. After I upgraded to OS4 my battery life all but disappeared. The problem: multitasking applications running in the background without my knowing it. These applications sat quietly alone in the previous OS causing no harm. Now they drain the battery down rapidly. The solution: double press the home button, the bottom row of applications you now see are likely four in a large number you didn't know are running continuously. Press and hold one of the apps gently until they show a minus sign. Now close most or all of your apps. Swipe left to right to see the many apps you had running in the background and close them to conserve your battery. This strikes me as a clumsy system but at the moment I don't see any other way to protect your battery.

David, I don't think you're going to get anywhere with this guy Allan.
He's more concerned about how you spell his name and making you look like an idiot than giving meaningful information. Since 2002, you've made 385 posts, roughly one a week. It's looking like this poor fellow is posting more than ten a day, every day, for years. You pointed out how many tens of thousands this guy has made - someone needs to get away from the keyboard more - there's a world out there, though I did notice that he's in Texas in the dead of Summer.
I love my cars - I kept my last one for 10 years. I love my cell phones - they had to pry my Samsung flip phone from my hands after more than two years to get an iPhone. I freakin' loved my 3gs and then made the mistake of my life. I upgraded.
Yes, I went online and was one of the chosen 600,000 successful pre-orders. I was a first-day recipient of an iPhone 4 - it took me all of 5 days to take it back to the AT&T store. What a colossal disappointment. And the poor AT&T guys are fundamentally clueless about what might remedy some of my problems.
I'm in New York - a known "challenging" area for AT&T. The 4 could not hold onto calls anywhere near as well as my 3gs - and I kept it in my leather 3GS case (with a piece of cardboard to compensate for the thinner 4 case) to avoid shorting out the antenna. After a boatload of screen freezes and error messages and my cheekbone repeatedly pressing keys on the phone, I took it back to the AT&T store, where they had the balls to hit me with a restocking fee. I won't change my retirement plans over $20, but man, that was nervy.
However, in the interim, I gave my old 3gs to my daughter, still with OS 3 on it. I then had to get a new 3gs to replace the 4 I had returned, and it came standard with OS4. What a week it's been.
The first word is "cluster" - you can fill in the second one.
I can't make it through a day on a single battery charge - this is dramatically worse than my original 3gs battery life which was excellent for the 8 months I owned it and used OS3.
So, now I'm stuck - I tried to follow your trials and app issues, as well as the link provided and the condescending suggestions by his holliness (the extra "L" is in case he loses the one in his name again.)
I am a very lightweight user - on Weds, I made a total of 46 minutes of phone calls. The rest of my iPhone use was checking and reading mail frequently (none with downloads or attachments - just plain-old emails) and I performed less than 5 searches using the Google app and a few checks of the weather on the Weather Channel app. Shortly after dinner, I got a battery warning and by 8PM, the phone shut down - this followed a 100% reading when I unplugged it from the Apple-issued wall charger that morning.
So, if there are any other folks following this thread, or Alllllllan, if you feel you can play nicely in the sandbox, I'm open to what I can tweak on my 3gs with 4.0 running, so I can make it back to my charger at bedtime with a working phone.
I had to be an early adopter - couldn't just shut up and enjoy my 3GS with OS3. Boy, this just *****.

  • "mm-qcamera-daemon" Major Battery Drainage

I have had the device for just over a week and all was well. Suddenly yesterday, mm-qcamera-daemon has become a serious battery drainer (up to 60%).
I have searched the web including the XDA Developers site and some have reported that unstalling the Yahoo Messenger Video/Voice Plugin solved their problem. I have done this and the issue persists. I have even uninstalled the apps I installed around the time this became an issue to no avail.
Does anyone have any insight on how to resolve this major battery drainer?
    Thanks in advance!

        @I-R-V,
Let's send out the search party and find Yahoo Messenger on your phone.
What phone do you have? If you have the Note 3 you can follow these steps http://vz.to/1l3N2sH to uninstall 3rd party apps. Please keep in mind that you cannot uninstall apps that were preloaded on the device.
Are you also having issues with the battery? Please provide details regarding your concerns so I may better assist you.
