Keep getting a random DOS windows poping up now and this error everytime I try to install/uninstall. Any help would be appreciated so I can backup and transfer my files.

I'm getting an error 1723.  There is a problem with this Windows Installer Package.  A DLL required for this install to complete could not run. Action Repair RimUsb...
I received this while trying to upgrade to the new version of Link software.  I tried downloading it from the website tonight.  Help.

  • New laptop wont install/uninstall anything

I purchased a Toshiba Satellite L775 yesterday and it wont install anything. I tried to install TrendMicro antivirus and the CD drive wouldn't even read it...I tried to manually open the folder and run it, but not even that worked. So I went to the website to try and download it there, but still - nothing. iTunes as well as Skype will get as far as the download option, but when I click to run the setup nothing happens. I was told  I need to uninstall Norton before I can install another antivirus, but once I tried that, it's been stuck at "Preparing to Uninstall" for about 20 minutes.
    A little help please..?!

Regardless of WHAT antivirus was preinstalled, this always happens. Easy fix I see in Geek Squad at least once a day.
Not that my opinion carries a lot of weight around here, but from what I've read you give excellent advice and I would be happy to be one of your customers. Don't let NoNo rattle you. In case you hadn't already noticed...if a person says Mac, NoNo rises to the defense of PC's. If a person says Trend, NoNo swears by Norton's. If a person says Intel, NoNo extols the virtues of AMD. I've gotten used to NoNo's rants and they don't usually bother me, except when they present their opinions as absolute undeniable facts.
Maybe NoNo was a star on the H.S. debate squad and misses those days?

  • BB Link wont install

    Hi
I have a problem installing link on a new laptop. The spec is win 7 pro 64bit.
Every time I try and install a message pops up and tells me the EXE file has a syntax error? Any ideas? I have turned off virus and firewall and run as an administrator.
    Thanks Dean

    A  little info:
A syntax error occurs when information is entered into a computer in an unrecognizable or improper format. If, for instance, someone typed an email address using the word “dotcom” instead of “.com,” the message would be undeliverable because of a syntax error. Poorly or incorrectly formatted information might be entered by a programmer, end user, or even by computer software itself. Computer programs communicate through digital language, and they have their own rules of grammar; when these rules are violated, a syntax erroroccurs.
    How It Happens
Syntax is a crucial element of clear communication in any language. For example, English has rules regarding spelling, sentence structure, word placement, and punctuation that helps convey ideas and makes the intended meaning clear. Numbers also have their own rules and conventions; 335 can mean many things depending on context, such as $3.35 US Dollars (USD) indicating cost and being distinct from 3:35 pm, which shows a certain time. A syntax errorresults from ignoring, forgetting or misusing these conventions.
Computer programming uses various languages to express data in a way that computers can understand and process. When errors are made, such as a person entering numbers, words, and punctuation incorrectly, a computer often fails to understand what is intended. A syntax error is basically a grammatical mistake made in communicating with a computer.
Did you rename the file ? I suggest you delete the file and download another to see if it is the file or your computer.

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

i uninstalled firefox and tried reinstalling it but it wont install can someone please help

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps to install Firefox.
You may need to re-download a new Firefox copy.

  • Remoteviewer ActiveX never popup (install link wont go away)

Running 11.2, and trying to use IE8 and/or IE9 on Win 7 x64 for remote control.
On some of the administrators machines, when trying to remote control the link for installing the remote control viewer never goes away.
Installation of the viewer works fine.
Read in the manuals that it can help disabling UAC.
Did help on one machine, but not on the others.
Tried Trusted sites, enabling all ActiveX-stuff in settings but nothing seems to work.
Tried on a clean Win7, and there, first time after installing remote control viewer, I get a question about allowing the viewer, and after that it works.
But that question never comes up on most of the machines. The link for installing is just still there...
And now with FireFox 12, that will not work either (can start another tread on that).
Anyone has an idea on getting it to work in IE8/9?

  • Itunes wont update, uninstall or reinstall

so everything was fine, i had my iphone 4s and my sony vaoi laptop and then one day it tells me to update my itunes. so thats what i did, it was running the install and then a error came up saying that 'The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that it unavailable' then underneath it gave me the option to go browse for where it was. it seemed to have disappeared only when the installation came about because when i quit it i found it in the exact same place that i looked when it gave me the option to 'browse'. for a month this was going on and i tried to fix it every time it offered me the installation but then it said my iphone couldnt connect to itunes anymore because itunes is not updated but how the heck do they expect me to upddate it when it just disappears?! i havent been able to update music on my phone anymore which is very annoying because that is one of the main reasons i got my iphone4s. then i looked up my problem on the internet and this person gave me a link and said uninstall itunes and reinstall it. it was called 'revo pro uninstaller' i thought it was going to work because it said it had uninstall everything to do with apple so i shut down my laptop to leave it rest. i opened it up the following day and there apple was again. for days i tried to uninstall everything to do with apple but it just wont go away. the same message as  'The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that it unavailable' then underneath it gave me the option to go browse for where it was' and then it said 'the older version of itunes wont uninstall please contact your technical support group' when i tried to uninstall it or reinstall it on my laptop. to be honest apple, samsung are looking alot of a heck better. i have never been so annoyed with a company in my life. please get your act together.

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Itunes wont install on visa

ive tried to update my itunes and it wont install i get an error message saying
Service apple mobile device failed to start. verify that you have sufficent privilages to start system services
    help please

    Hello Karl,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with installing the latest iTunes update.  I recommend following the steps below as an administrator:
    Resolution
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
    Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
    Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
    Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
    Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.
When you get to the step to uninstall iTunes, it is important to uninstall iTunes and the related components in the order listed in the link for that step.
You can find the full article here:

hi im having huge problems trying to install flash for my mac 10.5 imac, iv gone through the internet and tried all of the solutions, everytime i try to install flash it says cant read the download file, or it just wont install, anybody plz help!
iv unistalled flash, iv checked plug ins it just wont work,

It would have been a great help to know precisely what Mac you have, so some of the following may not apply:
You can check here:  http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/  to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS. Note that version 10,1,102,64 is the last version available to PPC Mac users*. The latest version,10.3.183.23 or later, is for Intel Macs only running Tiger or Leopard, as Adobe no longer support the PPC platform. Version 11.4.402.265 or later is for Snow Leopard onwards.
(If you are running Mavericks: After years of fighting malware and exploits facilitated through Adobe's Flash Player, the company is taking advantage of Apple's new App Sandbox feature to restrict malicious code from running outside of Safari in OS X Mavericks.)
    * Unhelpfully, if you want the last version for PPC (G4 or G5) Macs, you need to go here:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14266.html  and scroll down to 'Archived Versions/Older Archives'. Flash Player 10.1.102.64 is the one you download. More information here:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/838/cpsid_83808.html
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/909/cpsid_90906.html
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications (including Safari) first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.
After installing, reboot your Mac and relaunch Safari, then in Safari Preferences/Security enable ‘Allow Plugins’. If you are running 10.6.8 or later:
When you have installed the latest version of Flash, relaunch Safari and test.
If you're getting a "blocked plug-in" error, then in System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
click Check Now. Quit and relaunch your browser.
You can also try these illustrated instructions from C F McBlob to perform a full "clean install", which will resolve the "Blocked Plug-in" message when trying to update via the GUI updater from Adobe.
Use the FULL installer for 12.0.0.44:  Flash Player 12 (Mac OS X)
And the instructons are here: Snow Leopard Clean Install.pdf
(If you are running a PPC Mac with Flash Player 10.1.102.64 and are having problems with watching videos on FaceBook or other sites, try the following solution which fools the site into thinking that you are running the version 11.5.502.55:)
Download this http://scriptogr.am/nordkril/post/adobe-flash-11.5-for-powerpc to your desktop, unzip it, and replace the current Flash Player plug-in which is in your main/Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, (not the user Library). Save the old one just in case this one doesn't work.

  • Itunes wont install, please help

I know this issue has been raised several times and I have read most of the posts and still cant fix the issue. I have updated Itunes today and since trying to update it I can now longer load it. I have tried uninstalling everything about 10 times now and then reistalling but it dont work. If I click on the Itunes logo it comes up with the message itunes.exe is missing and the apple software update wont install either. To top it all off I needed to restore factory settins on my iphone but because of the itunes crash and the fact that I cant reinstal anyting I cannot do this so am without a phone now. I am now at the end of my tether after spending about 7 hours trying to rectify the issue so I could really do with some advice? I have tried the repair function but this has done nothing either!

This morning I have uninstalled everything again and tried to individually install all the parts, quicktime and itunes comes up with the warning fatal error during installation or someting similar and the apple softwareupdate still does not install.
