Bcp load and invalid object
Guys,
Beginner for sql server here.
I'm looking to backup some 11 tables (small, seems like test tables left behind by developer team). This is out of around 200+ tables which makes bulk of our database. I want to know (1) what strategy a seasoned sql server dba would use for this
purpose? Like (a) create a backup database and export/import tables into that - then drop the tables from production database. (b) Just export the tables via bcp and save the files, if and when needed, upload them.
Though with second option, will bcp create the object when loading the files, since the format file is available?
Or Does it requires the objects to be present before loading the data?
For my some time spent on BOL and online, I could not spot a clear direction on this issue.
Thanks,
DP
Hi DP,
According to your description, you want to back up some tables from one database.
As per my understanding, I think the best method is use Transfer SQL Server Objects Task in SQL Server Integration Services. The Transfer SQL Server Objects task transfers one or more types of objects in a SQL Server database between instances of SQL Server.
Server roles, roles, and users from the specified database can be copied, as well as the permissions for the transferred objects. Indexes, Triggers, Full-text indexes, Primary keys, Foreign keys can also be copied.
As to your issue, we should create a database to store the 11 tables in the server, then create a SQL Server Integration Services Project in SQL Server Data Tools, drag a Transfer SQL Server Objects Task to Control Flow pane. Specify SourceConnection, SourceDatabase,
DestinationConnection and DestinationDatabase for the Connection, select the 11 tables in the ObjectsToCopy category, then change other corresponding properties in the task.

10.2.0.4, Spatial and invalid objects
We don't use spatial. We have no plans to use spatial. We do use Intermedia, badly.
When I upgraded a database from 10.2.0.3 to 10.2.0.4, everything went OK, except that one object in the MDSYS schema (I can't remember its name, but it was something like SDO_GEOMETRY) was rendered 'invalid' in dba_objects afterwards.
I tried to manually re-compile it. It produced errors like 'table doesn't exist'. And I got to thinking that this was a Spatial object that was invalid because none of the other Spatial components was installed. I needed the invalid status to go away because my boss has a query that spots invalid objects and hassles me if any exist, and my attempts to say 'this one doesn't matter' weren't working.
So I used dbca to add Spatial to the database. (Added a tick to the spatial selector on the database options page). The addition went well, and at the end of it... zero invalid objects.
Problem solved, sort of. Now I have a new problem: when I ran dbca again to UNinstall Spatial, the tick against the Spatial option is greyed out and it cannot be de-selected and hence removed from my database.
And so my questions. How do you remove the Spatial stuff? Will removing it break Intermedia? Is there a better way to fix the 'invalid MDSYS object' problem caused by the 10.2.0.4 upgrade in the first place, because I have 8 other database to upgrade in the coming days? And, if the simplest thing to do is to just leave all the Spatial objects in the database, will we be in breach of our license, because we certainly haven't paid to use this feature, but we equally certainly have no use for it?I would guess that most questions asked here could have been resolved by 'searching on Metalink first'. According to your standards and rules, then, that makes this place mostly redundant. Perhaps we should just shut the place down?
No, I'll tell you what: if you find your time being wasted, perhaps you could just not bother replying instead of pronouncing on high how those so much less exalted than yourself should behave and do things. You could have provided a metalink document number without the accompanying attitude, and then you would have my thanks and appreciation. But, for being a pompous a-s-s, you get neither.
Here's a clue. Classic Metalink. Search for '10.2.0.4 spatial errors after upgrade', All Sources. Your precious document appears only 16th in the resulting list. Yeah, I could wade through 15 irrelevant documents before stumbling over the correct one, but I figure upgrading to 10.2.0.4 can't be that rare; somebody will have encountered the problem before; quickest way to a solution is therefore probably to post here. Not, I would have thought, an entirely unreasonable train of thought, though obviously it is in your particular corner of the universe.
Besides which, whilst that document tells me how to fix the invalid objects without installing Spatial, which will certainly prove useful for all my other database upgrades, it doesn't tell me (and neither did you) how you uninstall Spatial after having installed it with dbca. That's not asking you to fill in the gaps, by the way: I wouldn't want to waste any more of your precious time.
I'm just pointing out that your "answer", as well as being pompous and arrogant, also proves itself to be deficient. -
Query timeout expired and Invalid object name
I have a program that processes data (dequeues) and polls about every 2.5 seconds - normally there are several records to process per second - it does this constantly 24/7. The program runs fine at about 100 sites. At 2 sites the following error occurs
about once per day. Typically the table has less than 10 records that get processed ie read then deleted. DataObjects are used ie the data is read, connection closed, processed, deleted using T-SQL from ADO - ie transactions are as short as possible.
Error#-2147217871 Query timeout expired. SQL:SELECT RealID, RxerID, PhoneID, Min(ServerDtTm), min(ID) FROM dbo.tblPreReceiver GROUP BY RealID, RxerID, PhoneID ORDER BY Min(ServerDtTm), min(ID)
Inner exception Error No. -2147217865. Error Desc:Invalid object name 'dbo.tblPreReceiver'.. Native Error:208 Source:Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server SQL State:42S02.
SQL Server 2008R2 (Express at one site and Standard another).
The program then runs again 2.5 seconds later without error.
Can anyone explain why?
I suspect it is a blocking error but the error message does not suggest this at all. There is another application which writes to this queue, this does not report the error.Yes, blocking can be the cause. The default command timeout is 30 sec and if the table is locked by an other process, the command waits until the table is accessable ... or the timeout raises. You could increase the timeout value or you could perform "dirty
read" = ignoring lock, but I don't want to suggest to do it.

Loading and viewing XML when a class object is created..Help Please
Hello,
I have writing a simple class which has a method that gets invoke when the object of the class is created. I am able to view the loaded XML content when I trace it with in my class method, but cannot assign the content to a instance variable using the mutator method. So the process goes like this:
Class object is instantiated
Class construtor then calls the loadXML method which laods the XML
And then assigns the XML to a class instance variable.
So now if I would like to access the loaded XML through class object, I should be able to see the loaded xml content which I am not able to see. I have spent over few hours and cannot get the class object to display the loaded XML content. I would highly appreciate it if someone can help in the right direction, please.
[code]
package com.as3.app
import flash.display.*;
import flash.events.*;
import flash.text.*;
import flash.net.*;
public class Cars extends MovieClip {
public var _CarList:Object;
public function Quiz()
super();
loadCars();
// ===========================================================
// CARS GETTER SETTER
// ===========================================================
public function set Cars(val:XML):void
this._CarList = val;
public function get Cars():XML
return this._CarList;
// ===========================================================
// LOAD QUESTIONS FROM XML
// ===========================================================
public function loadcars()
var myXML:XML;
var myLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader();
myLoader.load(new URLRequest("xml/cars.xml"));
myLoader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, processXML);
function processXML(e:Event):void
myXML = new XML(e.target.data);
Cars = myXML; // Assigning the loaded xml data via mutator method to the _CarList;
//=============================================================
INSTANTIATING THE CLASS OBJECT
//=============================================================
package com.as3.app
import flash.display.*;
import flash.events.*;
import flash.text.*;
import flash.net.*;
import com.as3.app.*;
public class DocumentClass extends MovieClip {
public var c:Car;
public function DocumentClass()
super();
c = new Cars();
trace(c.Cars);
[/codewhere you have:
super();
c = new Cars();
trace(c.Cars);
c.Cars will not trace as the loaded xml, because it will not have loaded in time. After some time it should presumably have the correct value.
loading operations in actionscript are asynchronous, so your nested function which is acting as the listener ( function processXML(e:Event):void) only ever executes when the raw xml data has loaded and that is (I believe, not 100% sure) always at least one frame subsequent to the current one.
In general I would consider it bad practise to use nested functions like that, but I don't think its contributing to your issues here. I think its just a timing issue given how things work in flash....
Additional observation:
your Cars constructor calls loadCars() and your loadCars method is defined as:
public function loadcars()
I assume its just a typo in the forum that the uppercase is missing in the function name.... -

Invalid objects and ORA-00600 after deleting XML schema
I am running Oracle 10.2.0.3 on Solaris 10. I am new to XML DB but my developers requested it for a new application. Recently we have noticed the following issue:
My developers have attempted to re-register several schemas using:
DBMS_XMLSchema.deleteSchema(SchemaURL => l_strSchemaURL,
Delete_Option => DBMS_XMLSchema.Delete_Cascade_Force);
And then re-register.
DBMS_XMLSchema.RegisterURI( SchemaURL => l_strSchemaURL,
SchemaDocURI => l_strImportURL,
Local => True,
GenTypes => True,
GenBean => False,
GenTables => True,
Force => False,
EnableHierarchy => DBMS_XMLSCHEMA.ENABLE_HIERARCHY_RESMETADATA);
Afterwards I have noticed several invalid objects:

I opened a TAR with oracle but they have not made much headway. Are we attempting to de-register the schemas improperly? Has anyone seen this issue before?
Thanks,
BrianSR 6204906.993. Up to this point oracle was able to help me identify that the invalid objects were related to the ORA-00600 but it was just recently that it appeared the Issue was possibly related to the delete schema procedure. The informed me that they were not aware of any known issues with this procedure.

Problem while loading texts and authorization objects file in RAR
Hi all,
i am getting internet explorer error while loading the texts and authorization objects text files in RAR .actually we uploaded rule file before this,does this step causes any error ?if so how to resolve this error.do i need to remove all rules/risks and then load text and authorization files? is there any shortcut to renove all risks generated in one shot? please reply me soon to resolve this.
Thanks,
Joseph.Hi Joseph,
Please make sure to convert both the files in UTF-8 encoding format and then try to upload the files again. This should resolve the issue and if not then please paste the logs here.

Invalid objects after running catalog.sql and catproc.sql
I have a db 10.1.0.3.0. standard edition with the 10.1.0.4.0 patch installed.
After executing catalog.sql and catproc.sql the database contains lots of invalid objects in the public, olapsys and xdb schemas.
I have executed utlrp.sql, the script completes successfully, but lots of invalid objects remain.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks in advance.

Edited by: Kevin Alcock on Jan 11, 2011 2:20 PMHi Otto,
We have had the form working and in most instances the form can be updated multiple times without issue. However, occassionally a form is created OK but the next time it is launched it is blank (the data is visible when the PDF is downloaded to the desktop)
Do you think this issue could be to do with the form layout/XML...I changed the form template 2 days ago as I suspected this issue could be realted to incorrect field bindings but we have had the error on a form created after the change was made.
Many Thanks,
Kevin

Issues with SNP_CHECK_TAB being an invalid object
During the Control step 'delete previous check sum' I encounter the following error:
208 : S0002 : java.sql.SQLException: [DWSQL]Invalid object name 'companyx_prod_workspace.dbo.SNP_CHECK_TAB'.
java.sql.SQLException: [DWSQL]Invalid object name 'companyx_prod_workspace.dbo.SNP_CHECK_TAB'.
at com.inet.tds.a.a(Unknown Source)
There are many scenarios and interfaces in this ETL load. There may be a dozen or more tables loaded in each scenario. The scenarios will execute correctly 4 out of 5 times but the other times I get this error somewhere in the sequence of tables being loaded. The interface/table that fails will vary when the load fails. And the next x number of times the scenario and inerface will succeed.
Any thoughts or suggestions?
Thanks in advance,

rick-shermanHi,
Under your SQL Server Technology you should have a Data Server entry and under this, one or more physical schema entries.
ONE of the physical schema entries MUST be set as the default (by checking the default checkbox under the physical schema definition tab).
The SNP_CHECK_TAB table should then be created and referenced correctly.
Hope this helps. -
JBO-25036: An invalid object operation was invoked on type View Object...
Hi,
Jdev 11.1.1.3 with BC & RC.
HR Schema - Employees & Departments Table.
In EmployeesViewImpl class overriding prepareVOForQuery() for adding dynamic where clause.
@Override
public void prepareVOForQuery() {
DepartmentsViewImpl deptImpl = new DepartmentsViewImpl();
int deptid = deptImpl.deptID(); //custom method in DepartmentsViewImpl returning deptid based on some condition
setWhereClause("DEPARTMENT_ID = :bvdeptid");
defineNamedWhereClauseParam("bvdeptid", null, null);
setNamedWhereClauseParam("bvdeptid", deptid);
super.prepareVOForQuery();
public int deptID(){
//return "IT_PROG";
int int_deptid = 0;
Row[] depts = this.getAllRowsInRange();
for(int i=0 ; i < depts.length; i++){
Row row = depts;
String deptname = (String)row.getAttribute("DepartmentName");
if(deptname.equalsIgnoreCase("it")){
Number deptid = (Number)row.getAttribute("DepartmentId");
int_deptid = deptid.intValue();
break;
return int_deptid;
// The error is coming
JBO-25036: An invalid object operation was invoked on type View Object with name DepartmentsViewImpl_2
Can I call a custom method deptID() like above, in EmployeesViewImpl class from DepartmentsViewImpl?
I need to change query based on some condition on page load in real scenario. I used beforePhase() but not giving perfect result.
What is best way to do this, similar to above case. However, providing plain value giving no error.
Thanks.Hi!
This doesn't work that way:
DepartmentsViewImpl deptImpl = new DepartmentsViewImpl();Take a look at ApplicationModule#findViewObject() if your DepartmentsView is already in your data model, executed, and you want to re-use it.
Otherwise take a look at ApplicationModule#createViewObject().
Besides that, if you want to execute a VO, then call executeQuery() on it, don't rely on other operations like first() or getAllRowsInRange() to implicitly execute it for you.
And: Why not use Number all the way through? Why the conversion to int? It will work in that example, since department ID is only NUMBER( 4 ). What if the ID column was a NUMBER( 22 )? int cannot handle that, not even close, so you should not make it a habit to convert to int.

Sap ecc6.0 instalation error invalid objects
Hi,
we tried to install SAP IDES (SAP ERP 2005 SR 2) on a Windows 2003 server service pack 1 as Database we use for oracle 10g.
Everything went fine until the step "ABAP Import (Step 19)" after that the following error occurs:
Not all objects are successfully processed. DIAGNOSIS: For details see output file with invalid objects invalid_objects.txt and log file object_checker.log. SOLUTION: Normally it indicates the data load error but in some special cases (for example if some objects were created or loaded externally) you can press OK to continue.
