"Before Form Trigger Failed" in Oracle Reports

Hi,
I have RDFs stored in the Oracle Reports Server (installed in Solaris Server1). These RDFs access a common package (in compiled status) which resides in Oracle DB (installed in another Solaris Server2).
Everytime whenever there is a change in this common package I compile this and I verify the status to be in VALID status. After this I execute my RDF through a shell script and my report fails with the above error message.
WITHOUT RECOMPILING, when I RE-EXECUTE the report, it works fine.
Can anyone please help me to resolve this issue as it happens everytime in Production when I promote this package to Production DB, compile and execute a report.
The execution of ANY report fails (immediately after compilation) and is NOT consistent with one particular report. What I mean is, any RDF executed after the compilation fails and succeeds when it is re-executed without any changes.
All the file access paths are availables for reading, writing and executing the file.
Thanks in advance!
Regards,
Teenu

After you re-compile your packages,
Open up the affected .RDF's in Report Builder
Choose 'Save As' from File toolbar
Overwrite the existing file in the $reports directory on the server.
For some reason Reports gets "out of sync" so to speak with packages and even local PL/SQL triggers/functions/procs... This is why sometimes even after you compile your local functions and triggers you still get the "Report contains uncompiled PL/SQL" error. Try the suggestion and let me know if it resolves your issue.

Steve

  • Oracle Form as redirect to Oracle Reports

    Okay, I can't figure out how to hide the parameters in a URL from a non-Oracle Form to an Oracle Report. I found a work around on how to call an Oracle Report with a built in parameter form from an Oracle Form, but I have never used forms. Could anyone give me a clue on how I could just create an Oracle form with buttons to the reports so I can build the fix and redirect the user to the Oracle report. I would really appreciate any help, any guidance, any direction in this matter.
    Thank you,

  • After Parameter Form trigger failed

    REP-0771. I have the trigger returning to false on a condition, however, this is when I get the error. All I want to do is return to the parameter form, and it's giving me an error. Is there any way to suppress this error?

    Hi Maggie
    To validate a parameter value at runtime:
    1. In the Object Navigator, expand the Data Model node, then the System Parameters or User Parameters node.
    2. Double-click the PL/SQL icon for the parameter for which you want to add a PL/SQL validation trigger.
    3. In the PL/SQL Editor, define the PL/SQL to be triggered at runtime
    Validation triggers are used to validate the Initial Value property of the parameter. Depending on whether the function returns TRUE or FALSE, the user is returned to the Runtime Parameter Form.
    Thanks

  • How to get Oracle Form Parameter Value into Oracle Report

    Hi,
    Please guide for the following:
    On a form, there is one Control Block (CB1), having two TEXT ITEMS, namely From_Date & To_Date respectively. The user inputs from and to dates, for example From_Date: 01-JAN-2009 and To_Date: 31-DEC-2009 and then press "Print Report" button.
    I want to get From_Date & To_Date in the report, as per below mentioned heading:
    SALES REPORT
    From: 01-JAN-2009 To: 31-DEC-2009
    Regards,

    You can use ADD_PARAMETER builtin,
    The following example creates a parameter List, adds two parameters to it, and then passes the List to a form by way of the CALL_FORM procedure:
    <pre>
    /** Declare a variable of type ParamList to store ** the parameter List ID */
    DECLARE
    PARAM_ID ParamList;
    BEGIN
    /* ** Create a parameter List named "input_params" */
    PARAM_ID := Create_Parameter_List('input_params');
    /* ** Add two parameters to the List to pass values for each user-defined parameters defined in the target form; for each parameter, specify its key, type (text or data), and value */
    Add_Parameter(PARAM_ID, 'FROM_DATE'', TEXT_PARAMETER, to_char(:CB1.From_Date, 'DD-MON-RRRR'));
    Add_Parameter(PARAM_ID, 'TO_DATE', TEXT_PARAMETER, to_char(:CB1.To_Date, 'DD-MON-RRRR'));
    /* ** Now call the report, referencing the parameter List ID ** in the last argument to the report calling procedure */
    END;
    </pre>

  • Reports 6i -- How to create an HTML form template before form processing

    Hello Oracle Reports Gurus,
    I'm using Oracle Reports 6i and trying to create an HTML form WITHOUT using the Oracle Reports 6i parameter form builder. The goal: to take a web page already in existence containing a form with checkboxes and radio buttons and make it 'transparent' to my users in hooking it to Oracle Reports. So far, I made my HTML page (with form and all) a "header" file for my Oracle report and didn't place anything in the parameter form builder. However, upon doing so, Reports 6i decided to be extra helpful and place form elements into the Parameter form builder.
    So,
    1) Is there a way to take a web page with a form and all and easily "plug it" into Oracle Reports 6i WITHOUT using the Parameter Form builder?
    2) Is there another way to create an HTML form that will allow me to have radio buttons, checkboxes, etc?
    Thanks in advance from this Oracle Reports newbie,
    Lee Lonitz

    lee,
    i am not exactly sure what you are trying to do. since you state you use HTML, i assume you are running 3-tier with the report server, right ?
    if so, the easiest way to hook your parameter form up to your report is to just pass the URL to the report as the action URL for your form.
    in 9i/10g we provide the Reports Web source, which is based on JSP and allows you to paste HTML into your report to create a highly customized HTML parameter form.
    i am afraid in 6i, we don't provide a way to actually combine your HTML form ito the report. it needs to stay separate, but can link to the report using the way i described above.
    thanks,
    ph.

  • Parameter Form not calling the Main report - Gives REP-0110, REP-1070, REP-0110 error

    I am using run_report_object to call a report in which the user has to input some paramters. I have followed the instructions as in the Oracle White paper document on Forms/Reports integration.
    The paramter report does come up but when I hit the submit button, I get an error
    REP-0110: Unable to open file 'rclug005'.
    REP-1070: Error while opening or saving a document.
    REP-0110: Unable to open file 'rclug005
    I've checked the privileges and everything's fine on that front. Also, I can get to open the report with the web.show document built-in with paramform setting = No.
    I am guessing something's wrong with the html constructed in the parameter form which is,
    <form method=post action="http://myserver/dev60cgi/RWCGI60.EXE?">
    <input name="hidden_run_parameters" type=hidden value="server=myserver &report=rclug005&destype=Cache&desformat=html&userid=uid/pwd@test">
    In the Report Before Form trigger, I've copied the foll. html code from the Oracle White paper,
    vc_parameter_form :=
    '<html><body bgclor="ffffff"><form method=post action="'||:p_action||'">'||
    '<input name="hidden_run_parameters" type=hidden
    value= "'||vc_hidden_runtime_values||'">'||'<center><p>
    <table border=0 cellspacing=0 cellpadding=0><tr><td>
    <input type=submit></td><td> width=15
    <td><input type=reset></td></tr></table><p><hr></p>';
    I've set the :p_action parameter to a value of http://myserver/dev60cgi/RWCGI60.EXE?
    Also, In the end of the report before form trigger I added this
    srw.set_before_form_html(srw.text_escape, vc_parameter_form);
    Any help/tips is appreciated & Thanks.

    Thanks Danny,
    I am building the variable exactly as in the White paper in the "before form" trigger using exactly the same values give there.
    vc_hidden_runtime_values := 'server='||:p_servername||'&report='||vc_report_name||'.rep&destype='||:destype||'&desformat='||:desformat||'&userid='||:p_userinfo;
    My report has some extra parameters too it expects. So do I have to include the names of those parameters too in the string above?
    For example, in my report a user parameter is named 'print_date', which I do see and populate with value in the parameter form, then do I have to build that in the vc_hidden_runtime_values string above.
    I am using Report 6.0.8.11.3 on 9iAS.

  • Text_IO in Oracle Reports 6.0 ?

    Hi all !
    I've build a Report with Report Builder 6.0.
    Now i want to write every row i get, in a file.
    So i want to use Text_IO. The Question is, how can i use a global (User) Variable with type "Text_IO.File_Type". I can only create a user variable with type "char, date, number".
    At the begin of Report i want to use the trigger "After parameter form" to open the file.
    Then i want to use a function where every row will be written to the file.
    At the end i want to close the file in trigger "after report"
    Perhaps someone can help me ?
    (Hope i had explained it easy, my english is not the best).
    Thank you.

    hello,
    you will have to create a package specifications that has the definition of this variable in it.
    you can than access the var using <packagename>.<varname> (e.g. myGlobals.myFile) from all PLSQL within your report (e.g. the after parameterform trigger).

    Phani-
    I have developed reports that run other reports in 9i and10g. I would have a "main" report that I would call from Forms (or HTMLDB). This "main" report would run multiple other reports. I used the report built-in procedure SRW.RUN_REPORT("report=report2.rdf parameter=XX") in the After Parameter Form trigger of the main report to call the other reports.
    I hope this helps,

  • Difference between After parameter Form Trigger and before Report Trigger

    hi,
    Can some one tell me difference between After parameter form Trigger and Before parameter trigger.
    Why do we need both these trigger , why can't we use any one of them because after parameter trigger will obviously fire before report trigger and similarly before report trigger will fire after parameter form.
    Thanks
    Ram

    Hi,
    i will make it clear..!
    Actually, we have four type of triggers in reports..!
    Before Parameter -- fires before params are suppied to the calling report..
    After Parameter -- fires after params are suppied to the calling report..
    Before Report -- fires before report is generated..
    After Report. -- fires after report is generated..
    Before Report and After Report triggers are used for formatting the report design..
    like u can specify a report to be displayed based on a condition in the Before
    Report trigger and u can specify some backend updations in the after report trigger
    which fires after report is generated..

  • Oracle Reports with PL/SQL package in before Trigger

    I have an oracle report which is set to run as a concurrent program in Oracle Apps. My before report trigger calls a pl/sql package. I am debating using errbuf and retcode, since I have not defined the pl/sql package as a concurrent program. But if I do add errbuf and retcode to the pl/sql package parameters, how do I call them in the trigger.
    function BeforeReport return boolean is
    begin
    delete from XXDK_SAMS2_MEAN_RATIO;
    delete from XXDK_SALES_RATIO_TOTALS;

    :deed1, :deed2, :deed3, :tran1, :tran2, :tran3, :accnttype);
    return (TRUE);
    end;
    And do I add errbuf and ret code as paramters in the registered setup?
