Behaving erratically when mousing over the text

Hi all,
I have a very strange problem. I am trying to do a simple photo-gallery using edge animate without using the timeline as much as possible.
Let's say I have a thumbnail, and I want to mouse over the thumbnail and it goes semitransparent and a text pops up.
Now, what I had done is I have gone to the compositionready and set the codes to sym.$("caption1_txt").hide(); to hide the text. Next, I have gone to the mouseOver and set the codes to
sym.$("thumb1").animate(
"opacity":"0.2"
}, 500
to set the opacity to 20% for the thumbnail. And then I set the text caption to show like so :
sym.$("caption1_txt").show();
Conversely, I have gone to mouseOut and do the reverse as shown :
sym.$("thumb1").animate(
"opacity":"1"
}, 500
sym.$("caption1_txt").hide();
The strange thing happens when I mouseover the text, it seems to flicker repetitively. May I know how to solve this? It seems the program is trying to execute an event for the text block but there is none. Is there a way to nullify or 'ignore' the mouseover effect for the text?
Thanks, greatly appreciate!

Thanks for the prompt response again!
Yes, I realised I have to go to the symbols and then set that to %. Didn't know that can be done
Thanks heaps! It is working!
Another question, which I have posted in another post, I do have problems working with the jQuery animate() function.  I have tred to implement CSS3 filters using the animate() function in jQuery but it does not seem to be working. I know presently only Chrome supports this sets of filter. An example of what I had done for the mouseOver handler :
sym.$("thumb1").animate(
"-webkit-filter":"sepia(100%)"
}, 250
Is there anything that is missing?
Thanks and greatly appreciate!

  • When I go to a drop down menu, for example bookmarks, I mouse over the text and it turns color with a dark bar; can this be fixed?

    I am running Firefox 5 currently. Ever since the last update to Firefox 4 and currently with firefox 5 I have had this issue. The dropdown menu is normal when it first drops down. When i move my cursor over the text in the menu it changes to a dark blue bar and remains that way until I close the dropdown, it resets until i dropdown and mouseover again. When I make a selection in the menu it works fine.
    I have also noticed that the buttons in the browser and in certain websites have a "sweetspot" you have to hit for the button to function. In past versions if you clicked anywhere on the graphical button it would function.

    Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    * https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode
    In Firefox 4 [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode Safe mode] disables extensions and disables hardware acceleration.
    * Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
    If disabling hardware acceleration works then check if there is an update available for your graphics display driver.

  • How do I keep the name tags in Picasa Web Albums from appearing on the images by default? With Explorer, name tags only appear when mousing over the image, but with Firefox, all the tags appear on the picture as soon as it is loaded, which looks messy.

    I use Picasa to create web albums, and I tag people who appear in the pictures. With Explorer, the name tags do not appear on the pictures until I mouse over a specific person, at which point the tag appears. With Firefox, the name tags appear as soon as the picture is loaded, and only disappear when you mouse over the people in the picture. This makes the picture look messy; by default, one would want to see a picture without tags all over people's faces.
    The only way to "fix" this is to disable the name tags completely (or tell people to use Explorer!), but this is not an ideal solution, since I would like to be able to share albums with people's names in them.

  • Showing help text of controls when mouse over connector

    I'm working with a system where we have decided to use input clusters for all data to all vi:s. These clusters are saved as strict type defs.
    Our idea for documentation so far has been to write a description of what the vi does in the vi description, and describing the indata by documenting each element in the input clusters type defs.
    This works very well for documentation printing purposes. However, we cannot see the descriptions of the indata in the help pop-up when mouse-over the vi.
    Does anyone know a way of getting the documentation of the wired inputs to a vi when mouse-over the vi?
    Regards
    //Martin

    Do you want to (1) see the help info (description and tip) for the cluster when you're on the front panel of the VI that uses it, or (2) do you want to see the help info when you're on a diagram of a calling VI using the VI with the cluster as a sub-VI?
    1. In LabView 6.1 or 7.0, you will see the help info for a strict type-def control on the front panel of a VI that uses it. I saved a cluster as a strict type-def. I added description and tip for the cluster itself and for individual elements within the cluster. Then I added the cluster to the front panel of a VI.
    In either version 6.1 or 7, I can see the help info:
    I can see the description of the cluster or the individual element (depending on where the mouse is pointing) whenever I have context help open (Ctrl-H
    to toggle). I can see the tip for the cluster or individual element if the operate tool is selected.
    After I added the strict type-def control to a VI, I went back to the control editor and modified the description and tip, then updated the control on the VI and saw the new info.
    2. When you're on the diagram of a calling VI using the VI with the cluster as a sub-VI, the only help info (description and tip) available is what you entered for the sub-VI. You can't see the help for the individual controls on the sub-VI unless you open the sub-VI. On the VI with the cluster, you can cut and paste help info from the cluster to the VI. On the diagram of the calling VI, with the wiring tool selected, you can see the name of the sub-VI terminal, but not the help info for that terminal.
    Seeing the help for the individual control of a sub-VI when you're wiring it sounds like a good idea to me. Maybe in LabView 8?

    When mousing over text, the cursor flickers constantly (with every letter passed) from arrow to i-beam and back.  The problem occurs in both MS Word 2011 and Pages.  Any idea of how to solve this annoying problem will be much appreciated.  System 10.10.1 on a MacPro (Late 2013)

    The mouse is controlled by the OS so don't guess any app other than a mouse driver or OS X itself would be able to cause this sort of flicker issue.
    Have you seen the following and is it what you are seeing? Maybe you could make a movie (Quicktime is great for this this to make a screen recording) - but not sure how to attach a movie to these discussions as mine is grayed out and can't be selected (to the right of the insert image). Here is the what I found for a search of "mouse cursor flickers os x yosemite"

    What kind of mouse are you using? Is the mouse driver up to date if it's a third party mouse?

  • How to get text when mousing over image?

    Hey there, I am extremely new to Flash, but know other Adobe programs so tend to learn quickly.
    I desperately need to find out how to get text to pop up when i mouse over PART of the image and i havent been able to find any help online in the last two days (pulling my hair out in stress).
    Now i uploaded a rough mock up i did on Photoshop, so you can see when i mouseover the top layer of the cake i need a line to stretch out and the text to pop up at the end of it. Similarly if i moused over the cherry another piece of text needs to come up in the same manor.
    Also since i need it to be a website link so what format do i open it with when i go to FILE- NEW?
    Honestly thank you so much in advance to anyone that helps

    First you have to choose if you want to handle devices. If not and you want to stay in Flash I'll stick on topic.
    In the HTML version you could either use a good old fashioned image map (they're still fine in the HTML5 era) or you could use a layering technique (here's a random layering example).
    In Flash you can do it a few different ways. If you intend on keeping the image intact as a single object then you'll be essentially doing the same as an image map. You can draw invisible hitareas on the various parts of the object and have those areas trigger a specific function that will display your text. If you break up the image into the separate parts then you can directly assign those parts to fire off a function themselves.
    First I'd like to know your desired direction.

    Prior to today, when I ran my mouse over the Firefox icon on the tool bar I would get an image of whatever web page I had opened. Now, all I get is text. For example, if I had the BBC open, I could see the open web page by touching the Firefox icon with my mouse. Now all I get is test saying "BBC Player..." Whass up?

  • I would like to see the actual email address in a Tool Tip when I mouse over the From address

    I use Thunderbird to access my IMAP email account with a non-enormous ISP. Thunderbird is a great email client.
    One thing I really miss when using Thunderbird vs. going to my email using a browser: in the browser, when I mouse over the From email address, a tool tip pops up showing me the actual email address, not the alias (or whatever it's called). Please see the attached image for an example of the mouse over tool tip. Is there a way to do this in Thunderbird?

    more misinformation and urban myths here than facts.
    1. Thunderbird blocks remote images by default.
    2. Thunderbird does not allow scripts in mail. If they are there they do not run.
    3. The only link SPAMMERS or anybody in marketing gets to you is when you download their remote images, run scripts in the mail or click on links to go to their web sites.
    4. When I or a spammer send a mail to say [email protected] Most mail servers will refuse delivery unless the address exists on their server.
    5. True spammers do not care if a large percentage of the mail they send is to dead email addresses and they make little or no effort to validate active addresses. Corporations like Walmart, Woolworths here in Australia, Ebay and Paypal are very interested.
    With that knowledge, you are now aware that opening the mail tells a spammer nothing even in the remote chance they are interested.
    Oh and the source of the urban myth is Microsoft whose mail clients allow scripting, remote images and uses the file extension of the file not it's mime type to determine how to open it.
    That is the difference between a mail client where the developers think security first and one where the developers give the user what they want and try to tack on security after the fact.

    The list of extensions for InDesign now have a yellow triangle warning symbol in front of a good many of the extensions and when moused over i get one of two messages:
    "Extensions may not function properly because it does not meet the dependency condition."
    OR
    Extension Status is not consistent with extension set configuration."
    The reason I opened the Extension Manager in the first place was to check to see if I had installed a third party extension.  And I was presented with these warning symbols.  I haven't added anything, I haven't done anything that would cause this.
    Does anyone know how to fix this???
    I am running OSX 10.9.5; Indesign CS6 version 8.0.2 And Adobe Extension Manager version  6.0.8.28.
    Thanks in advance!
    Nina

    Many InDesign pre-installed extensions (Those extensions you have immediately after InDesign installation) define dependency rules in their mxi files. Dependency means that one extension works well only if one or more other extensions are installed and enabled. If this condition is not met, the yellow triangle warning will be shown.
    You can select an extension with warning, click "Advanced" tag page in the lower right panel. You will see "This extension has dependency on: <extension name> ...". Check whether every extensions listed here are available and enabled. If not, enable them. Repeat these steps for all the extensions which have warning.

  • Problem w Plug-in Check page: the "Update" button for my outdated version of the WMP plugin does not do anything, and no link is indicated in the status bar when I mouse over the button.

    In Firefox, I select Tools > Add-ons > Find Updates. The Plugin Check page comes up in the browser. The entry for the WMP Plugin indicates it is out of date. I click on the "Update" button and nothing happens. When I mouse over the button, no link is indicated in the status bar (it continues to read "Done").
    The entries for the other plugins indicate they are current. When I mouse over the "Up to date" button for each of those entries, a link is indicated in the status bar.

  • Spotlight does not show the path or location of a file anymore when hovering with the mouse over the file

    in Leopard Spotlight used to show you the path /location  of a file when you stayed with the mouse over the result. As sometimes I just look for the location of a file not to open it like a mp3 file. It would be nice to have a opiton in spotlight to contorl or right click a file and then give the option to say show in finder. that only works when you have your results show up in finder first and takes a bit longer. or maybe in the new prieview window to show the loaation or give you opitons what to do with the file
    Just an idea to spotlight even better

    When you hover over a file in spotlight list (or select with up/down arrow) you can also hit command-R to open the folder where the file is located. Kind of like 'Show Original' for aliases.
    But yeah, Apple really needs to just show the directory path on the hover pop-up by default. Obviously, when you do a search you'll most likely get several files with the same name - we need to see the locations to tell them apart. One of the main reasons to do a file search is to simply find out 'where the file is located' - not necessarily open the file. Seems pretty shortsighted to not show the file location in the search result.

  • Does Adobe Reader have the plug-in to display the word definition when moving mouse over the word?

    Hi,
    I would like to know if Adobe Reader has such plug-in that displays the word definition when the user moves the mouse over the word.
    Basically I think it needs to
    detect what word is presented under the cursor
    look up the word in the dictionary or source file e.g.xml
    pop up the definition of the word, which can be a translation or definition
    It would be great if user can actually customize this dictionary file/source file.
    Do you think there is such plug-in?
    Many thanks for your help/advice here.
    Cheers
    SX

    Hi,
    When I use Adobe Reader “look up” function, it takes me to dictionary.com. I am wondering if Adobe Reader allows me to customize this look up function, so I can use another website or my offline dictionary, instead of going to dictionary.com.
    Many thanks for your help/advice.

    if I open firefox, it doesn't go to my home page, instead my desktop stays up. if I mouse over the firefox icon on the taskbar a tiny homepage pops up but you can't make it bigger.

    This has happened to me many times but on the older FF 3 It could be a small bug, One should list the PC's being used as it could be related? Mine is an E-Machine Mod, W3609 running W7.

  • The white line over the text in a title

    how can I enlarge the white line over the text in a title to not have the text out of the frame when I want to add another line?

    If you are speaking of the white bar upon which you are entering text in say a 'gradient edge' title, click title in the inspector window having the title selected. There you can change the width of the horizontal bar:
    In the screenshot above I have used gradient edge title. The bar is of black color and you can change the color to white or any other color by tinkering with the controls in the inspector window [red oval]; you can also increase or decrease with the bar's width by changing its parameters within the 'yellow rectangle'; and, if you so need, you can push up or push down the bar by manipulating the bar vertical position tool located below the yellow rectangle.
    Hope this helps. If the white line you have mentioned above is something other than the bar I have referred to, then let me know. Cheers. Have a great day.

  • Link not showing hand icon when mouse over

    I am creating an image gallery and have thumbnails that open
    in a separate window to a larger version of the image.
    The links are working, but when you put the mouse over the
    image the little hand does not appear to show it is a link, if you
    click it works and the image opens, but the hand does not show,
    what have I done wrong.

    This implies that you have applied the behavior directly to
    the <img> tag,
    when you should have applied it to an anchor tag surrounding
    the <img> tag,
    e.g.,
    this - <a href="javascript:;"
    onclick="whatever"><img src="whatever"...></a>
    rather than this - <img onclick="whatever"
    src="whatever"...>
    You can get this by manually creating it, or by selecting the
    image,
    removing the behavior, then entering "javascript:;" (without
    the quotes) in
    the Link field of the Property inspector. This will wrap the
    <img> tag with
    the anchor. Now select the <a> on the Tag selector, and
    apply your
    behavior.
    As you can see, familiarity with HTML (and CSS) will come in
    quite handy
    when working with DW.
