Execute "set scan off" from vb 6.0 adodb connection

Hi,
We are trying to execute "set scan off" from vb - but it throws an error like missing or invalid option.
We also tried clubbing two statements like - "set scan off;insert into table_name values...;" but still the errr is same,
We are using adodb connection object's execute method.Rest all ddl and dml are working fine. Any help appreciated.

  • 'set scan off' or 'set define off' now working through JDBC on Oracle 10g

    Hi,
I am using oracle 10g. I am trying to execute 'set scan off' statement through JDBC (java code) using below statement
    //get connection Connection c = this.init();  //create statement object Statement st = c.createStatement();  //execute statement st.execute("set scan off");
but it is throwing below exception.
'java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00922: missing or invalid option'
I also tried 'set define off' but got same exception. But if I run these statement directly on database without using JDBC there is no exception.
Please let me know what is the issue.

Please let me know what is the issue. These are not SQL statements but specific Oracle commands. You would invoke them from PL/SQL through the command interpreter or by using Sqlplus on the commandline; if you try to execute this in a PL/SQL query window you'll get the same error.
So no, you are not going to invoke them from JDBC.

  • Setting Scan off for session

    Hi.
I am trying to insert some encrypted data into a table. With scan set to ON (default)
the data get slightly changed. This is of course not acceptable.
By testing using PL/SQL console and inserting manually I see the same.
But when I set the scan to off (Set Scan OFF) it works fine.
My question is how do I do this using the java.sql.Connection object ?
    I tried setting the
    java.sql.Statement
    statement.setEscapeProcessing
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi.
Yes I think Set Scan Off is PL/SQL thing. (someone correct me if I am wrong)
In any case, it set the translation of special characters to off.
This is a property on the PL/SQL session that solves my problem. I just need to set the same on my session which the Connection object represents?
The question basically is how do you execute SET commands on the connection. E.g. Connection provides a convinent method for AutoCommit, on/off. But I haven't found any similar method for setting the scan off.
    Anybody?
    Thanks

  • Using SET SCAN OFF on PRO*C

How can I implement the SQL Plus command SET SCAN OFF (or SET DEFINE OFF) on my PRO*C code? Thanks a lot.

It is entirely likely that I'm missing something, but why would you need to? Those commands are directly related to the behavior of SQL*Plus not the SQL engine in particular.

  • How do I set acpi=off from livecd? [SOLVED]

I just got my new motherboard in, and I'm running into problems getting my system up and running again.
my first speed bump occured when the boot stopped at
    SLUB: Genslabs=12, HWalign=32, Order=0-1, MinObjects=2, CPUs=2, Nodes=1
and I bypassed this by putting acpi=off in the kernel line on grub.
the boot continues until it says something about usb HID core driver (i'll edit this later with the actual line)
    edit:
    drivers/hid/usbhid/hid-core.c: v2.6:USB HID core driver
    and then stops again.
Is there any way I can get passed this point? also, if I try to boot from the live cd, the boot stops at the first speed bump (the slub line)
how can I set the grub on the live cd to acpi=off and do a fresh install?
I've done quite a bit of googling and can't seem to find any useful info on this one,
    any help?

I'm going to have to thank Tpowa for this fix.  I used the latest Archboot cd (found at http://downloads.archlinux.de/iso/archboot/2008.12/ ).
boot options can be entered in and it contains arch64 set-up as well as the standard 32-bit setup on the same disk.
I'm super excited because now I don't have to have windows on my desktop anymore and I can get back to being productive.
If you want to install arch, or need a rescue disk, I recommend archboot.

Just setting up iCloud on my iMac 10.9.2, my problem is when trying to sign out/off from iCloud it comes up with a verification code that is being sent to my land line, I'd changed the numbers in my Apple ID and they show as changed but the land line number still shows as number that the verification code is being sent, I prompt "Don't have access to this phone" and that's no help at all.  The only way I can sign out /off from iCloud is to uncheck everything that I wanted to keep in the cloud????
Thanks in advance for any help.

Skip the iCloud sign in for now.
Once you reach the home page, go to settings and sign out of FaceTime and Messages.  This should also sign you out of iCloud.
Go to iCloud in settings and sign in with the correct Apple ID.
    If that does not work
    Skip the iCloud sign in
Go to Apple ID.apple.com and sign in
Change your Apple ID to the old one
Delete iCloud account on your device with the old Apple ID and the same password.
Go back to the website, change your Apple ID back to the current one. You will receive an email to verify the account. Verify first.
Sign into iCloud on your device with the correct Apple ID and password

Hi, I need to take my daughter off from our Apple account and set up her own. So, delete her from one account and create her own. Realize I sound imbecilic for not knowing how to do this. Any ideas? Thank you so much. Jules

You don't have to take her off your account exactly: she needs to sign out from your account on her computers and devices. Then she can obtain an Apple ID at http://appleid.apple.com and use it to sign into System Preferences or Settings>iCloud.
However, there are some issue about this. If she has been syncing her calendars and contacts to your account then the data will disappear from her devices, but remain on your account. Individual calendars can be exported  as .ics files and reimported into her account, but if she has her contacts mixed up with yours she will have to enter them individually in the new account (or export yours, import them into hers, and delete the ones she doesn't want.
More intractable is the email issue. She cannot move an address from your account to hers, so if she has been using a alias on your account to have her own address she cannot transfer it. She will have to create a new email address.

  • Set OFF from the TM Preferences

My TM is currently Set OFF from the TM Preferences. Still I can run Time Machine from the menu by giving 'back up now'.
Is this a feature (OK with me but seems unlogical)

I suppose it is just an override, that lets you back up while still keeping the setting for preventing it doing it hourly. Best of both worlds.

  • HT4623 I have the iphone 4s and its updated to iOS 6.1.1 - Yesterday, I sent out a text to 10 people (my group messaging is set to OFF). I found out this morning that several people recieved responses from my friends/family. What can I do about this? Anyt

I have the iphone 4s and its updated (ios 6.1.1). I've always had my group messaging set to OFF. Everytime I send a text to multiple folks, I find out that they were able to see everyone elses responses to me. My boss told me this morning that she saw responses from my friends/family from a picture I sent yesterday. Is there ANYTHING that can be done about this? It's important to be able to send texts to multiple people. I have to update them alot on my husbands illness. Help!

Group messaging simply puts all replies in one conversation in Messages.   It doesn't prevent the behavior you experienced.
My suggestion which would be much easier in my opinion, is rather than do a text, send out an email and use bcc: , which will keep the audience hidden from each recipient.
Otherwise, if you're determinted to do only texts, the only way is to send your message to one person at a time.   You can of course copy/paste your msg each time which might be helpful.

  • How to set scan rate with NI Switch scan voltages

    Hi
I have SCXI 1130 switch and NI 4070 DMM . I have connected 3 voltage channels on the SCXI .
When I read just one channel at one time, I get correct voltage reading. here I gave scan input as ch0->com0.
Later , i placed a For loop in the block diagram and programmatically wired the scan channel input,
for the switch and read the voltage output from the DMM, i do not get the correct outputs.
That is , for my 3 channels, i gave For loop iteration count as 3 and ,'i ' is taken and appended for ch i ->com0. the DMM measurement is not proper. But if I highlight execution in the block diagram ( if i put the bulb and the probe), i can see the correct output voltages coming out. The moment, i turn off the execute high light, the program gives incorrect output. So  do I have to give a scan dealy or what time has to be set to get correct values. I am using software trigger in the bloack diagram.

    Hi Hema,
CJC is an acronym for Cold-Junction Compensation, and this value adjusts for the change in voltage caused by the thermocouple wire to copper wire junction.
For example, a J-type thermocouple will have thermocouple wire consisting of iron and constantan metals.  When these iron and constantan metals meet the copper at the switch connection, a difference in voltage results.  This difference in voltage is the "cold-junction".  The difference in voltage resulting from the iron and constantan connection in the thermocouple is the "hot-junction".  When you measure temperature using a thermocouple, what you desire is the "hot-junction" change in voltage.  Unfortunately, the DMM is going to measure the sum of both the "cold" and "hot" junctions, and a CJC measurement is needed so we can adjust the measurement to remove the undesired offset.
Once Cold-Junction Compensation is performed, converting from voltage to temperature is fairly simple.  Each thermocouple type has its own temperature to voltage conversion equation and associated coefficients.  Here's a great resource for the equations, coefficients, and specific voltage to temperature tables:

  • How do I set a threshold from an analog signal (4-20ma) coming in on a cfp AI 110, to trigger an alarm on my UI?

I have the alarm set, indicator set,  just need a digital trigger from an analog input. I realize I could use an external switch into a digital input, but would rather use what we have. We are using this analog signal for other purposes as well. This application is for controlling a machine. Thanks.....

    Hi Bob,
The way you have your Case structure setup now is that the “7” case will only get executed if the value from the wire is exactly 7. This same applies to the “8”. Also, there is no default case, so if value does not match any of the cases then your indicator will not change.
You indicated earlier that you need the indicator to be ON when the value is below 7mA and OFF when above 7mA. You will want some like this:
Alternatively could just use the Not function inside the Boolean palette to achieve the same functionality without the case structure.
You will want to check out the LabVIEW Training Page.

I understand there is a conflict between the secure/raw_materials_decision_action program and the raw materials decision program, except, that I do not know how to fix it.
Perhaps, I could change, the raw materials variable from money to integer. But, I am not sure this will solve the problem.
Alternatively, I could try to change the raw_materials_decision, specification, to accept a decimal, numeric, or money variable, but, I have been revieweing the file, and I do not know how to make this change.
It is not obvious to me.
Is there anyone who could help with this problem to find a best possible solution?
I would appreciate the assistance very much.
    Thank you.

TL;DR. The error you are receiving is from SQL. Identity fields are auto-assigned by the SQL server and you are sending a prepopulated value, thus the error. I can't really tell you how to easily fix this because I'm not sure what the app is trying to do nor do I know the underlying database schema. The most likely solution is to not send the identity value in your insert query and then use select @@identity if you require the auto-assigned value.

1 2 3(the < above is actually ">" but the CODE formatting software is screwing ">")
but I don't want the ECHOed command to be spooled. For the life of me, I cannot find a way to disable the ECHO from spooling in sql developer.
Tried the same in 3.0.4 and 2.1.1 with the same (bad) result (plus some warning on some of the unsupported SET commands).
Am I missing something obvious? Cause like this, the spool command cannot be used in sql developer to generate a CSV file for example, because of the echoed command. And windows doesn't come with SED by default so that is out. (plus that my original script is integrated into a much larger and complex set of scripts and the main script using them is executed from SQL Developer as a company policy (so that everybody uses the same tool and the code runs the same for everybody))
    Any ideas/suggestions are welcome
    Thanks.

Hi Gary, you seem to have some extensive knowledge. I'd like to follow-up on this thread and try to understand why SQL Developer won't hide the code even though I'm already running the code as a Worksheet (I assume you mean Run Script F5 button in SQL Developer).
I generally develop in SQL Developer that does a lot of dbms_output to echo data using a Spool command. When I'm in SQL Developer I can't get the code NOT to spool, it typically is echoed directly in the spool file at the top followed by the dbms_output data. If I save the sql file and run in in sqlplus it only outputs the data (good). If I use @C:\xyz_script.sql and hit F5 in SQL Developer it only outputs the data (per your previous answer) -- good.
So why can't I hit F5 in SQL Developer in the script file and have it only output the data? It just doesn't work no matter how many "SETs" you turn-off.
Looks like Echo, Term, Feed are supported in SQL Developer, maybe supported means something other than work.

  • How to execute a  .sql file from a batch file

    Hi all
I've to take backup of a database weekly twice on every wednesday & Friday @ 5pm IST. I've written a hot backup script, which works every well.
now i want to automate the script. ie i want this script to run on wednesday & friday @ 5pm without any human interfearance ie with out actually any1 executing this script.
i created a batch file prod.bak with the following lines
    @echo off
    set oracle_sid=testdb
    set oracle_home=d:\oracle\ora92
    sqlplus /nolog
    connect sys as sysdba/oracletest@testdb
this batch file when eexecuted connects me to sql prompt.
Now i want to execute my backup script bkp.sql automatically when it is connected to sql prompt.
(i tried with these lines in the above batch file...
call bkp.sql---it just opens the bkp.sql file in notepad & displays the script
    start bkp.sql---same as call
connect / as sysdba/pwd@[email protected] --- does not work simply remains a the sql prompt.
At 17:00 /Every:w,f "d:\bkp.sql"---does not work simply remains at the sql promt.)
Can any1 let me know what should i write in the batch file that will execute the bkp.sql file automatically after it gets connected to sql prompt. M using oracle 9i.
I'll manage he time through windows utility of scheduling task.. Let me know how to execute the .sql file from a batch file.
    Thanks
    Tripti

    Try
    sqlplus "sys/oracletest as sysdba" @bpk.sql
Working locally, and having set the ORACLE_SID, you don't need to specify the SqlNet alias (@testdb).
Remember to put an exit at the end of the bpk.sql script.
