Behavior DW CS3

When I add Behavior
Open Browser Window

choose
<A>onClick
appear error
<A>onClick is not valid event ...
Thanks!

You would never choose "<A> onClick" when applying to
text. Just choose
"onClick". The "<A> onClick" event is intended only for
use with images,
however, it doesn't appear to work as it once did. The
solution would be to
use the following procedure when applying 'click' behaviors
to images -
1. Select the image in Design view
2. Create a link around the image by adding "javascript:;" to
the link
field in the Property inspector, and pressing the enter key
(or the tab
key).
3. Look at the Tag Selector bar (at the bottom of the
document pane), and
click on the <a> tag that will appear before the
<img> tag. Apply the
behavior to this <a> tag, not to the <img> tag.

  • Weird keyboard behavior PS CS3

    Hi all,
Every now and then it seems like my keyboard has gone nuts.
This always happens inside PS CS3. After doing some actions, especially when doing a 'Shift-Alt-Arrow key' action (duplicating a layer or group and moving), it looks as if the keyboard goes in some sort of 'Alt-Always-On' modus.
The annoying thing about this is, that regular keyboard-shortcuts for selecting a tool don't work (pressing 't' for the type tool does nothing) but far worse is the fact when you want to move a layer or group of layers they get unwantedly duplicated.
Sometimes this behavior seems to disappear, when I click around my desktop (outside of Photoshop), but sometimes it doesn't disappear. The only thing left to get rid of it is to quit and relaunch PS.
Does anyone else have this problem, and how can it be solved.
This weird keyboard thing does only appear in PS, every other application is not affected by it.
I'm running PS CS3 on Windows XP SP3
I have all updates of PS CS3 installed

    Zeno,
I feel so stupid, but that also crossed my mind.
And to be honest, I think that is really the reason.
Why didn't I think of that before...

  • Override shift-scrollwheel behavior in CS3/CS4?

Does anyone know offhand if it is possible to override the shift-scrollwheel behavior via plugin creation or scripting in CS3/CS4?
The CS3/CS4 "scroll real fast" behavior breaks Macintosh user interface conventions hugely (in the rest of the operating system shift-scrollwheel is attached to scroll horizontally).
    Thanks in advance,
    Eric.

Would also like to know this. Scrolling is already too fast with a magic mouse, if I happen to be holding shift when I touch the mouse I will find myself suddenly at one end of the document wondering what went wrong.

  • Event behaviors in CS3

    Hi all,
I did import a "SWF" small movie into a new flash
document.... the idea is to create two buttons, STOP/PAUSE and
PLAY. But I can't figure this out using the behaviors tool from the
    windows menu..
In the first layer is the movie "sample.swf" including an
    instance name.
second layer a stop button to stop the sample.swf at any
    frame..
In the behaviors windows, when I add an event ' I got an
"icon _root" and underneath and other icon with the name of the
movie. The second icon should have the name of the button, but it
    doesn't work??
    Can anyone help please...
    Thanks

  • Slide Behavior Dreamweaver CS3

I have a created a Dreamweaver page with a horizontal set of 5 nav buttons along the top of the page.
I am trying to make it so that when a button is moused over, my div tag that includes a table, will slide onto the screen.
To get the tables to load on the screen where I can see them, I have also assigned a slide behavior to the other tables to slide up and out of the way.
It seems like it works on the first button I try, however, it doesn't for other buttons. When I refresh the browser it does work on the first button I try however it will not work on others.
Does anyone have a solution for this? Is this Slide behavior limited?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have also assigned a slide behavior to the other tables to slide up
    and out of the way
Using tables for this sort of effect will cause problems, try using divs for layout and the show/hide effect.

  • Strange behavior in CS3 WinXP not fixed by trashing Prefs file

My doc has many objects on multiple layers. 85% of the objects are strokeless filled objects, filled with only 5 different colors. A small number of the objects are not showing the correct fill color when placed over other objects. They show the correct color when moved. All layers are "normal" transparency, 100% opacity.
Tried trashing prefs file but that didn't help. Any ideas?

They are probably set to over print which is an object setting that stays with the file. However you should only be able to see the effet if you have Overprint Preview on and trashing the preferences should setyou back to the default of not having Overprint Preview on.

  • Photoshop CS3 Actions Batch mode bug?

I posted this in the Mac forum but received no responses after a couple of days, so I am trying it here.
Photoshop CS3 Actions seem to have a bug such that when used in Automate > Batch mode it will use the name of the first file opened in the batch session for every file processed in that session. Since that name is used in Save step, this means having to deal with the "File Already Exist" dialog for every file in the batch because it is attempting to save at the designated location with the same file name. If the continue option is chosen each time, the final result is one file with the first opened file name, but with the contents of the last processed file.
To confirm that this is a problem particular to the opening step, I have disabled all processing steps as well as the saving step by toggling them in the Actions panel. I then ran the action in batch mode on a folder containing 4 files. This resulted in 4 opened files all with the same name but different image content.
This was with the "Override 'Open' Action Commands" checked/not checked, and the "Suppress File Open Options Dialogs"  checked/not checked. The  problem described also occurs when using a Droplet.
By comparison, Photoshop CS exhibits the expected behavior: when an action is used in batch mode to process an entire folder of files, the name of each file is retained after opening and used after processing in the save or export step.
The above described behavior of CS3 is a change acquired along the way to the CS3 version (I do not have the CS2 version to test). But more importantly, can someone please report if the CS4 version behaves as I described for CS3, or if it has been returned to the CS behavior?
    OS X 10.4.11
    G4 800 MHz 2 MB L3/processor 1.25 GB SDRAM
    Is this a known bug?
    Al

    Hello Miguel,
I was going to come back to post some of my findings, one of which relates to your staement:
"- The open command created by Photoshop 6 doesn't keep the file's name, it is a much simple open command, and so it opens the file with the own file's name."
In my case I found that my CS version of the "same" action worked, while the  CS3 version failed, precisely because the earlier one records less detail for the open step.
My need is to convert dozens of Quark pdf files to GIF and JPEG files for the web. What I found after several days of testing is that it is best to record the opening step in CS3 NOT using a pdf file, so that the "Open As Generic Pdf with 'Name____' " would not be coded into the opening step. Instead I recorded the whole action using a PSD file. Then I can proceed to run it in Batch mode choosing a folder of Quark pdf files as the source location with "Override 'Open' Action Commands" checked, and the "Suppress File Open Options Dialogs"  checked, and it opens all the pdf files just fine in some background process, not getting stuck in the details of the file name, and proceeds to cary out the flattening, saving, and closing steps to my chosen target location and uses the finder file name of each pdf files in the source folder to save a filename.ext in the Target folder.
Contrary to what I stated in my original post, "Override 'Open' Action Commands" checked/not checked does indeed make a difference. If it is not checked, the files do open in batch mode, but the other steps are not performed. There is much more about this that I would like to know, and this may not be a general solution for all types of files that a user may wish to process in batch mode, but it works for my case. The main trick is to use as simple an opening step as possible when recording the action, and then letting Photoshop use whatever background process it requires to open a particular file type. I tested this by manually saving a pdf file to each of the twenty some odd formats available in the save as dialog to a Source folder, and then proceeded to batch process that folder with the action described above, and it worked for all except one.
So while there may not be a bug involved in this problem, there certainly is a lack of documentation about how the "improvements" in the opening step in newer versions of Photoshop affect using Actions in Batch mode.
Please comment if you can further explain any of the reported results. In particular, what is the situation in CS4?
    Thanks,
    Al

  • CS3 Copy and Paste objects - changing ID names

    Hi all,
That subject doesn't describe things as accurately as I'd
    like.
But here's the behavior my new CS3 is doing that I'd like to
    stop if
    possible.
If I have an object (Div tag or whatver.., maybe an entire
    set of nested
    tables 3 nests deep).
If, in design view, I copy a selection, then paste in a
    different spot, I
noticed that the style I had associated with the ID of that
    element no
    longer showed.
That's becuase CS3 changed the ID of the object by adding a
    2, or 3 or 4 as
the iterations progress with each paste.
I understand that in what I described, that's meant to help,
    don't want more
than one item of the same ID (classes should be used then
    instead).
But that aside, how can I turn off the behavior of CS3
    changing my ID names.
    I'd rather handle that myself.
Apologies if it's in an easy to find spot, if so I must have
    looked right
    over it.
    Thanks

  • Photoshop tools 'wacky' in 5.5, moving from CS3

I'm used to the tool behavior in CS3 Photoshop but 5.5 has left me dead in the water. I mainly want to know why I can't use the select tool with shift-select to marquee the area that I want to zoom into. Instead, it does some wild zoom in and out when I move the cursor up or down on the screen. How can I just marquee select the area I want to zoom into? Hopefully this can be fixed by setting preferences or something easy.
Also, another headache that has stopped my workflow: I cannot move an item just pasted into an image and on its own layer, by using the move tool. The move tool has become a hand and moves everything including the unselected layer below as well as the item on the layer above that I wanted to move independently of the layer below. Selecting 'transform' does not allow independent moving either, nor does it allow me to transform or change the size of the newly pasted object.
Please help, as I am seriously needing to go back to CS3 to get any work done. I would like to be able to get these things working in CS5.5 but this is the default behavior that I am faced with now that I've upgraded.
    TIA,
    Ken

You might want to read the release notes, and browse the help file for things that are new and changed in CS5.
In the meantime, go to preferences and turn off the scrubby zoom so you get back to the older style zoom you're used to.
The hand tool is not the move tool. You're using the wrong shortcut.
It might seem simple to those who know their way around, but I need help in every way:
Where are the 'release notes' located?
Once I find those I'm sure it will be a help. Thank You for that Chris.
Browsing the help file is something I never do, I go to the help file for specific things mostly, but how would I word this request for using the 'move tool' I call it the move tool but it is the tool at the top of the tool bar if it is stacked vertically as I use it off to the left side of the screen. That is the tool I used to use to move things and work with the edges in the transform box if one of those is active. That part just seems to be missing entirely. I had to finish this project today and had to go back to CS3 and thank goodness I left it active on my system.
Next subject "Scrubby Zoom" i wonder why that isn't left as an option rather than a default now, which kind of throws it at you from left field for the new user. I call myself a new user as this Photoshop has been rearranged into a new program - until I find out how to set the gizmos back to how I like to work with them. I love Photoshop, but am reminded of the old Chinese saying: "If it ain't broke don't fix it."
Next and last of three subjects: I know the hand tool is not the move tool, but when I select the move tool (top at the left vertical choices of tools in the toolbar again) the cursor is the hand tool and does not change by any use of any modifier keys. Are you saying that there is a 'shortcut' that sets this? How is this 'shortcut' accessed? Is it a keyboard command?
If I can conquer and gain control of these two mystifying behaviors over tools that behaved much differently in CS3, I will be the most happy man on earth.
    Thank You,
    Ken

  • MAC, CS2: File server migration problem/Missing Link/auto remap behavior.

    Hi,
I'm just leaving a quite "trace" in case someone else get in similar problems and do a search of the forum, it's very technical and i'm also missing some information, so i wont make a special effort to make it easier to understand.
We did a migration of a project from a OSX desktop station used as a server to a real OSX server (same root volume name, exact replication of the folders). Many of links in the indesign documents (not all) are missing.
After trying a few things, including inspecting the links in a .inx export, i have discovered that the remapping mecanism (when a link is missing) doesnt work the same depending of the OSX version (maybe related to afp version?) and also depending of the Indesign version used.
One of the case we have is a filepath that is encoded (in the inx file) using a "~sep~" in replacement of "_" (underscore) (documented, but very briefly in the inx specs documentation). It looks like the file was imported from a folder that was named "01_test" by exemple and later renamed "01-test" without doing the update in the indesign files.
On our "old" serveur, the link with such encoded char is resolved without any error/warning (just like "_" would be the same as "-"), but on our new serveur the link are reported as missing. I did the same test using CS3 and the links are reported as missing using the old and new serveur.
The new behavior of CS3 is better as it report adequately the change in filename (containing "-" instead of "_") instead of having a automatic remap (not working the same way accross different version of OSX) and also no commiting the change to the document (the remapping is not stored with the resolved link, the original link with "~sep~" is kept. One last odd behavior is that if we relink one path in a document, all the other links are resolved (on the new server) at document opening.. but if we unmount/remount the volume (restart indesign?), the link are still missing...
I'm missing some information on the expected behavior of indesing missing link automatic correction, also related to afp version (spotlight indexing could be involved??).
Currently i'm doing a log output of all the missing link to have a complete picture of the problem (in case the are other problems not related to the "_" and "-" in path name).
    Eric

My apologies about the wall of text. After I made my original post, I thought maybe it would better to go back and put it in a pastebin instead. I was not able to edit that post once I sent it.
In regards to your question, the  permissions on the
/Library/LaunchAgents/com.adobe.AAM.Updater-1.0.plist file is "read and write" for system, wheel and everyone.

  • File from AFP volume vanished!

I had a user yesterday attempt to modify the name of an InDesign CS3 file she had been working on a shared volume and it just disappeared on her. She stated that there was a error "30 or something" and then the file just disappeared. I did a search myself on the (G5 Xserve - 10.4.9) server and I could not locate the file anywhere.
This server has not caused us any problems in the past, has 75% free space on the boot drive and 50% free space on the Xserve RAID the file in question resided on.
Any ideas as to what may have happened to this file and how I might prevent this from happening in the future?

Although I have not seen this behavior with CS3 products, such errors are much more common with CS2 products. Since you didn't actually see what happened, I'd go with the following generic suggestions:
    1. Update your server to Mac OS X Server 10.4.11. (I noticed you're still at 10.4.9.)
    2. Make sure that InDesign CS3 is up-to-date (5.0.1).
    3. Was the user attempting to rename the file using Finder or Adobe Bridge or the Version Cue save panel? (Hint: Just use Finder!)
    4. If the user is, in fact, using a CS2 product, the best thing to do would be to copy the file to the local computer, modify it, then copy it back to the server.

  • Is there a way to keep images opened in Photoshop 5 from 'glueing' together?

I'm moving from CS3 to CS5 and am innundated with the 'improvments' in CS5. My main problem is that I don't know how to search on something that I don't know the proper name of, for instance, until I was told that the zoom behavior I wanted to disable was called 'scrubby zoom' THEN I was able to locate and uncheck.
This time, the behavior I would like to turn off is the 'magnetic' quality which opens images in a tabbed set, rather than in loose separate cascading images as was the behavior in CS3. I would like to keep images I open separate and not glued together. I would also like to do without the 'magnetic' quality which causes images to want to become 'tabbed sets' if I happen to drag one image window over or close to another as I am trying to compare two images on-screen - I do not want them to merge or want to 'join together' as is the behavior I now am experiencing.
Where are the controls to disable this 'glueing together' behavior of open image windows?
    TIA,
    Ken

As I suspected "Releas notes" are more about late-breaking product announcements rather than implemented features which should be distinguished from earlier versions. So, If, I'm going to have a ready reference to the innards of PS5 I really should have the PS5 User Manual, which I assume is available in PDF format and available for download online from Adobe. - I'll search there next. I need something I can put on my iPad 2 and the User Manual in PDF format would be it.
Here's the summation of 'release notes' which does not begin to answer questions about product new feature operation:

  • Blue skies turn gray.

I wonder if anyone can check this behavior in CS3.
I noticed that simply applying the Magic Bullet Looks effect, without ever opening the Looks Builder and making any adjustments, that my blue skies turn gray. Viewing on a calibrated, external NTSC monitor, the original DV footage shows a very clear delineation between blue sky and white clouds. After adding the effect, I get a sort of gray mush, with no delineation between clouds and sky. My once beautiful day looks overcast and about to rain.
Upon further investigation, I found some more possibly useful data.
For starters, all MB effects cause this to happen - Looks, Colorista, Frames, Deartifactor, Misfire, etc. I then checked several other effects native to Premiere Pro 2.0, such as Levels, and found them to be causing the same issue when applied, even before any changes had been made with the effect. Not all effects do this, however. The Fast Color Corrector, for example, does not change the video in any way until I make a change to the effect parameters. Same with the other effects in the Color Correction folder.
I then tried other clips with sky in them, some from the current project, some from other projects (meaning they were shot on a different day, on a different tape, so camera issues could potentially be eliminated). Some of the other sky clips exhibited the same issue, others did not.
Eventually I took a look at my clips through Premiere's built-in scopes. I found that the clips showing a problem had IRE levels in the sky portion of the image ranging from a low of 80 to a high of 120. Applying the effects in question immediately compressed that range, making the lows about 90 and the highs about 100.
I haven't the technical knowledge to even guess at a cause, let alone a solution, so if anyone has any thoughts, please share. I'd really like to keep my blue skies!

I guess this starts to get to the heart of the matter.
    >"Digital video is created using an 8-bit (or sometimes 10-bit) quantization of the incoming analog image. With 8-bit digital video, the 7.5 to 100 IRE analog range is divided into 256 steps between total black (0) and total white (255). In RGB values, 0 to 255 is the full range, but according to the 601 specifications, the range for YCrCb digital video was reduced so that black = 16 and white = 235. This was done to accommodate "real world" video signals that tend to exceed both ends of the scale and to accommodate the set-up level of NTSC.
    >Unfortunately, not all NLEs work this way. Some take video in and digitize it based on the 0-255 range, while others use the 16-235 range. Since no video can exist below digital zero, any analog video, which is lower than 7.5 IRE or higher than 100 IRE, will be clipped in a system that scales according to the 0-255 range, since there is no headroom on such an NLE. Some NLEs that work in this RGB mode will correct for the headroom issue as part of the conversion done with the incoming and outgoing video signals."
Seems like Premiere is keeping the DV as YUV until the effect is applied, where it goes to RGB. Bummer. My skies really looked a nice shade of blue.

  • "relink" problem in InDesign CS4: links are updated automatically

    Hi folks,
we use a script to relink our InDesign documents when the links have been moved on the file system.
Inside the script we just call link.relink(...) but not link.update().
We experience a different behavior between CS3 and CS4 after the script has run.
    CS3:
Links that have been modified after moving and before relinking are then shown as modified (with a yellow mark ) in the Links tab.
    CS4:
The links are all shown as uptodate.
Seems like the update()-function has been called automatically.
Is there a option to just relink the links in CS4 but not to update them?
    Kind regards

    mahony2k wrote:
Thank you for the help, Robin!
Restoring everything after relinking would be as risky as the automatic updates. I would need a warning when the VisibleBounds have changed after updating. Maybe with an option to restore them one by one while I'm looking at the image which is being restored.
Of course this can't be full-automat But there is posibility to define list of rules what could be done automatically in specified conditions.
List of all linked images could look like this:
    (I'm sorry for old screen)
Is it only for PC, because it would be a VBscript?
It will be VisualBasic6 app compiled to exe.
I can even do it as a "service" - so you can put INDD file in special folder (WatchedFolder) and script can analyze INDD file, make report and then you can decide "off-line" what should be done with "problematic" images.
I think I can even make it with option to see preview of "problematic" images in report so you can make decision without opening INDD file. Then you can upload report with selected options back to WatchedFolder to finish "conversion".
Even if you work on Mac - it shouldn't be a problem for you to use this tool - you only need to have one PC connected to your local network. To go further - on the same PC could be installed web server (Apache+PHP+mySQL) and you can controll everything from web browser
